A pub inside of a Whole Foods!?! I saw a similar thing at WF Pasadena last month so it was cool to see it here in WF Playa Vista. Initially we came to WF for the salad bar but Astro Pub caught our attention. Especially since I saw a good amount of icons indicating vegan items on the menu. That always makes me happy :) The Beast Burger sounded good to me on paper because it uses Beyond Meat burger patty, Chao cheese slices, grilled onions, and guacamole. It also comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickle slices. The top part of the bun was strangely yet significantly smaller in diameter than the bottom part of the bun. This dish was okay for what it was. I definitely felt like it could've used some oomph. Perhaps a vegan aioli? The guac was a bit tasteless. I do gotta give credit to the Meateater BF for this helpful hack: insert the fries into the burger itself. Much better! http://bit.ly/1GqYji0 The Tater Tots really blew us away! Much bigger than your average tot, these had a delicious crispy crust and perfectly tender inside stuffed not only with potato but also with a bit of vegan cheese and herbs. It comes with a Sriracha ketchup which is kinda meh and an aioli which is bomb. http://bit.ly/1OdiTJh Side note, that tater tot aioli in the Beast Burger added that oomph I was looking for. But I was only able to get it on a few bites because the BF hogged all the aioli ;P Not my favorite vegan burger but "A" for effort. Bonus stars for the awesome tater tots. I'd come back just for those. Maybe check out the vegan sushi too.

When you need a break from shopping amongst the techies coming here on their lunchbreak , pop into the pub and toss back a cold one. It's a little weird that people can bring their groceries and or salad bar food into the actual pub and eat there. So I guess it's byob and byof. I don like you can substitute a different beverage on their food and brew happy hour specials.

Astro Pub has an awesome lunch special: burger, fries & beer for $12. Pretty good, huh? The burger was great and so were the fries. In fact, you have a few options with your sides. If I remember correctly, they were hashbrowns, rosemary garlic fries or onion rings. I had the rosemary fries and loved how tasty they were! You also have a choice on cheese. I went with Provolone and added an extra of bacon. Avocado is also an option, for an extra $1. The beer selection is pretty good, as well. They have light, dark, IPAs and ciders. My favorite thing about Astro Pub was that it didn't feel like you were eating in a market. Granted Whole Foods is a great market and the shopping experience is always pleasant, it still didn't feel like you were eating at Whole Foods. The ambiance and decor were fun and it didn't feel like a grocery store environment. Two thumbs up for Astro Pub!

This.. was $7 and $9 after tip and tax. Note the sparse and very thin fish on top... Sad lunch.

Originally planned to give a 2 star rating... but after adding some notes in here about the great daily specials and the nice service... I bumped up a star. BUTT... yes, I guess this was kind of like a "Welcome to Playa Vista" reality check for me... where you have to pay $7-$9 for a 4 piece dragon roll -_- lol What a rip. And that roll was in no way anything special... I don't think I have ever seen any Japanese restaurant make a 4 piece dragon roll before (practically 3.5 piece because one piece was a really small piece that was falling apart). And so my original 2 stars rating was specifically for their "sushi" options because those are kind of ridiculous. HOWEVER, there are 2 things worth mentioning that would bring me back here despite my terrible sushi experience: - I saw on the menu that they have some pretty awesome daily specials; Tuesday special is 5 tacos + a beer of your choice for $10 which is a really sweet deal. - Service was also really nice and friendly And that's about it. I will probably be stopping by Whole Foods for lunch every so often... but not sure if I'll be stopping by here again... We shall see~

Great deals at the Astro Pub inside Whole Foods Playa Vista. 24 craft beers on tap. Daily specials that includes a brewski of your choice! Parking easy and free. Get some grub before or after a movie there's a CinaMark theater next door. Cool place to chill and have great food not expensive high quality that you know from Whole Foods.

This table has been sitting like this for at least 20 minutes. Ew.

This place began with great promise and good food. Since then, it continues to run downhill. Mediocre food and non-existent service are the norm. And a clean table? Nope. Skip it. There are more interesting, tasty and welcoming restaurants nearby.

Nothing special about Astro Pub. The food isn't super pricey considering it's inside a Whole Foods. And there are week day happy hour specials that sound like a steal! There's a wide range of craft beers to try. Service was a little slow. There were open seats but we waited about 5 minutes for a table because the host was just walking around chit chatting. When we were sat, I asked about the menu and he didn't really know how to talk about it. Ordered the herbed shrimp skillet. It came with 10 shrimps and French bread to soak up all the butter sauce. I thought that the bread should have been toasted and made crispy and that there should have been more garlic. The second dish we ordered was sriracha chicken wings. They had a nice kick but it wasn't crispy and it was the drummette part of the wing, which I like less.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Jenn was awesome!! She was very attentive and knowledgeable!! The food and drinks are awesome!! Great happy hour!! And great daily specials!! Who would've ever thought there would be a grocery store with a bar in it!????!!!

IT'S INSIDE OF WHOLE FOODS. I wish I knew that before coming here because I was walking around this complex looking for it. I don't recommend the ramen, especially if you're a ramen lover. You will be disappointed by the edible but dumbed-down ramen served here. BEST PART: no corkage fee. Buy a beer or wine and sit here and drink. That seems like the largest benefit to this place. THE WINGS are laughably tiny but offer some crisp and a good spicy ranch.

Great happy hour deals. The oysters are amazing for 6 dollars! Can't beat the price and the fish is good. Great atmosphere. Great store. I have had other food items and all have been great. The kitchen and the staff rocks it.

Delicious vegan sushi and vegan chili cheese fries!!!

The fries were not what I ordered (I asked for sweet potato fries and got skinny fries) but I like all fries either way and the skinny fries were good. I ate it alllll. The pickles and lettuce came on the side with some carrot sticks and ranch. No complaints here. Service: The bartender is a nice lady but I think the only one working and so you must order at the bar. Our food was ready and we had to wait a little for it but not a huge deal. While my bartender was very kind a super cool, the food is now a HUGE disappointment. The large order used to have 4 large pieces of fish, now it's only 3 small pieces that are heavily breaded with some sort of chewy/gummy dough. The bread is super tiny and barely equivalent to a small slice of a tiny French baguette. The carrot cuts are also much smaller. Way to ruin a good thing. Save your money and drive out to Malibu Seafood to still get that authentic pub style fish taste. Come for a drink, but no the fish. It's not the same classic taste that used to make me drive miles for. Of course, I ate it because I was beyond starving and hate wasting food but today may forever be my last hooray as the fish is what drew me here. It was always cooked to perfection and taste, but alas those days are gone. New ownership? I don't know but pinching a penny should be worth losing folks over lesser quality food. I beg of you to fix it. They also provide suggested gratuity based on total WITH tax. Check your bills as you should only be tipping on food service.

I work in the area. I've been there quite a few times at different times of day at different times of the year. This evening, myself and my partner got back to the area after attending a graduation at the college. We walked in around 8:20/8:25pm and took a seat. We hadn't had dinner yet and were just looking for a late meal. The place was busy, it was before Trivia Night started. At around 8:40, no one had come by yet to say Hi and I hadn't seen any wait staff walk by, so I stood patiently at the bar for a minute or so to inquire if we ordered at the bar or if it was table service. It was indeed table service so I went back to the table to wait. An employee (the name Peri was on the receipt) came by the table and we, perhaps too enthusiastically, said that we were definitely ready to order. My partner gave our drink orders and she briskly asked for the card for the tab and took off. We still needed to tell her our food order. We thought she might have just needed to put the card on file and would be back to finish up. Nope. A different server came by to drop off our drinks, and we mentioned to her that we would like to order food. She gave us a vacant look and walked away. So now we're at around 8:50/8:55 and we need to get something in our system. At 9pm Peri (?) comes by the table again to check on us (I think it might have been due to our pleadingly awkward attempt to try to make eye contact with her as she was walking by) and we're just ready to leave and grab food somewhere else. We let her know that we were put off by the timeframes, and I feel that we handled it politely but directly, but then she holds up the digital ordering handheld and shows us that the time on it read 8:46pm. I pointed out to her that yes, that's when we finally were able to order, but we had been sitting there for about 20 minutes before that. We paid and left. Pretty much 35 minutes and we hadn't yet been able to order food. Observing the crowd, we noticed that staff seemed to check more frequently on tables that already had food or had finished their food before approaching tables that were filled around the time when we had sat down. I get it, it's busy. I've been there other times when it's very busy and service is quick and efficient. The past several years of the Downtown Taste Of The Summer - third Wednesdays series are some of my fav chaos energy visits. At this point, it's a mixed bag. 2 stars though because the guy pours a proper Guinness, and it's closer than walking down the road to the other pub. The ambiance is pretty much what's to be expected for a lively downtown sports pub.

We are rarely in the area, but since we had some errands to take care of that led us to be in the nearby, and we didn't know what to eat, then my wife said how about some fish and chips from a different place, then it hit me that I had this place bookmarked and saved for some time now, and now was the perfect time. We came there and parked in the public parking building that was free. We came inside and there was a party of two in front of us waiting. The waiter, seemed to be the only one, came by and said hi to everyone and his thanks for our patience and wait. He later came by and took them to their seats. They requested outside, and the took them. We waited a few more minutes, then it was our turn and he was ready to lead us to our seats, but we asked for outside as well. He asked us to give him a few minutes to clean up a table for us. After so, he sat us and gave us menus. The service is good, considering he is the only one, but he moves about pretty quickly and still giving everyone his all. The table was pretty nasty. It was sticky. But we wiped it down and proceeded onto our night. We ended up ordering the two piece fish and chips and their pub burger with no cheese as my wife is lactose intolerant. People really need to realize that smoking is smoking, it does not mean that vaping is ok. Respect others by keep that to yourself, especially in a restaurant. The food came out pretty fast, and very hot and fresh. One of the fish was perfect and crispy, the second pieces was lacking. It was soggy and not fried long enough. The fish itself was great. It had a nice texture, firmness, and lightly salted. The batter was bland and could use some salt. However, eating it with the tartar sauce was amazing. The tartar sauce is perfection. Definitely a good fish and chips combo when consuming with the tartar. The steak fries were perfect. The burger was completely lacking. I thought it should be sent back. The idea was ok, but the execution was wrong. The burger was overcooked, way too overcooked. If it was cooked correctly, it would have been a great burger. The onion rings are great though. Great flavor, great batter, good frying. Overall, the waiter made the experience good because he was on top of it. The food was ok, as there are things that would make it better. But if you have never been here, definitely come try it. Remember, the atmosphere is still a pub, not a family type restaurant, but is ok for a family to come here as well.

She anticipated what we needed before we had to ask, kept a great attitude the entire time, and genuinely made the experience more fun. Great service can completely change a night out, and Allisen delivered some of the best service I've had in a long time. If you're lucky enough to have her as your server, you're in excellent hands. 33 Taps is fortunate to have her on their team!

I made eye contact with one of the bartenders, but she just proceeded to eat something and suck her fingers. After sitting there for 10 minutes being completely ignored, I finally flagged down another bartender. He snapped at me to be patient, even though I had just watched him prioritize a stream of drink tickets that came in long after I had sat down. When I finally got to order a Pilsner, I watched him use his bare finger to scrape something off the inside of the glass while the beer was pouring. Needless to say, this place left a lot to be desired and I only had one drink.

I love a megatouch machine!!! I don't know if I love the bartender. He seems very Henry Rollins-like. I mean that not in a bad way, but Henry Rollins just comes off very matter of fact and very rigid and kind of strict almost like military. There is no food there so you gotta go across the street to Tito's tacos or Johnny's pastrami. All in all, I have so much fun here I mean so many cool people I enjoy the spot. It's one of my favorites.

I would give this establishment zero stars if that were an option. My friend, who is Black, and I, who am Hispanic, entered the establishment. Before entering the bar my friend drank his water bottle and threw it outside in there trashcan. At no point were we consuming alcohol. Despite this, the bartender accused my friend of drinking a Modelo beer, which was untrue. To clarify, it was early in the morning and we only had water with us before even entering the establishment.During those hours of the day there is not anywhere you can even purchase a Modelo. We do not even drink Modelos either which we thought was funny of even being accused of doing something like that. We even explained to him to check the camera footage again to see it was just a smart water he threw away. My friend briefly walked to the trash can to During our time there, we observed that we were the only customers of color present who were not being served, while the bartender continued to serve white customers. When we calmly asked the bartender about the situation and why we were not being served, he became defensive and refused to provide his name after we expressed concern that the treatment felt discriminatory. His response was that he did not feel comfortable giving his name after we raised the issue of racism. We really wanted to just check this place out because we thought it was funny how a bar opens so early. Yet, we left feeling upset over all this. Based on the circumstances, the experience felt unfair and discriminatory. We simply wanted to be treated with the same respect and service as other customers. I hope management reviews this situation seriously and ensures that all patrons are treated equally and respectfully in the future.
