There's nothing like finding a gem in the middle of Los Angeles. When I tell you I have driven by this spot at least 20-30 times and did not realize it was there baffles me. What's even more shocking was that I was driving by a place that in my eyes deserves some special attention! So espresso martinis are a thing and this place came highly recommended for them so my sugar sugar and I said, why not?? We made reservations and left a bit early because based off Google Maps the restaurant is on the corner of Manchester and Lincoln but based off my memory, I never saw a restaurant with that name! So to clear the air, it's there y'all, you just have to slow down and look. When you walk in the restaurant is dimmed and it totally sets the mood and my mood was steak!! Our waiter was super cool and we appreciate his hospitality. He asked if it was our first time. We confirmed and he ensured us that we would enjoy our experience and enjoy we did! First - espresso martinis. It was as if the bartender read our minds...they were made to perfection! Flavorful and you can definitely taste the balance of the espresso and alcohol. I ordered the steak frites and sugar sugar ordered the salmon. We always try each other's food and we couldn't determine which dish was better. The salmon was baked perfectly and the side salad was delicious! The steak had just enough seasoning so that it didn't overpower the quality of the meat. What an unassuming little spot! Can be tough to be find! Popped in for a happy-hour type get together with a few friends while we were in town. Super dark and vibey inside. The five of us were sat at a booth and quickly taken care of. Menu was hard to decide on, as there were lots of good picks, but in the end we went with everything that was good on the shareable end. From the wings and house-made chips, to the broccoli and burgers, all of it was super flavorful. Oh I also has a martini (olive + lemon), which was great and on happy hour special. Been wanting to stop by the Manchester for a while, and I'm glad I did! It's an intimidate and moody space, featuring a nice selection of cocktails and food. Theres a parking lot, which helps for easy parking. Service was quick. The steak frites were addicting, highly recommend! Been here a handful of times. Time to drop a review. Made it here last Friday, during the World Series Game 6 (Dodgers and Blue Jays). No TV's here by the way. Arrived early enough so I found a spot in the lot. not much space and don't park in the KFC lot. Park on the street if you have to. Just be mindful that there are a few displaced encampments on the sidewalk behind the restaurant and you may want to just park over near Bristol Farms and walk over. Service has always been awesome here. It's not a big place so it should be easy enough to keep tabs on the guests. This last visit, even though only me, I was offered a table which I accepted leaving me room - not being stuck with two different parties at the bar. See pics. Food has always been good. Like I said, been here a handful of times. It's likely more because it's very close to home. And I may have forgotten to check in and or take/post pics on a few visits. The Manchester is a teeny hidden gem in LA. It sits in small building with a couple other businesses, you definitely need to look to find it. The interior is dark and moody, perfect for a date night. I visited with some coworkers and we are big sharers haha, so we got a couple of things to split. We tried the cacio e pepe potato chips and dip, Sichuan chicken wings, the Manchester burger, charred broccolini, and short rib stroganoff. The chips, wings, and burger were all on their great happy hour menu - these items were such a good deal. The burger was classic and simple but yummy. Yesterday we stopped in for happy hour. Drinks were on point, and the mushroom toast was the standout. Simple dish, but done really well -- great flavor, great presentation, and clearly made with care, even as a happy hour item. The interior is the main draw, but there's also a back patio if you want some fresh air. Parking in the back is limited, but street parking is usually easy to find. Balam was very attentive as we worked our way through cocktails followed by wine and the happy hour chicken wings and steak frites. I recommend the Tuna Tartar, Prosciutto Americano, the Butter Lettuce Salad w/Grilled Jidori Chicken added, Fried Chicken Sando and Sautéed Barramundi. Large portions so great for sharing. I came here with a large group and most of our things were pretty tasty, especially the burrata. I got the king salmon with ratatouille - and idk, it felt like it didn't have enough salt to it? The grill marks on it were super nice, it just felt a little lacking. And I'm not sure what made it ratatouille vs just grilled veggies. The other thing was that it was crazy loud - I had trouble hearing two people away, though I'm sure we also contributed to the noise level since we were such a big group. Overall good vibes, the servers were nice. They did take away my drink without asking if I was actually done though - and I wasn't. The drink was so good but so strong! I was nursing it the whole night lol. I would have appreciated them asking before they took things away, though they did it super quickly. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what type of food joint this--gastropub or just elevated bar with some great offerings. Whatever it is, the food and drinks were excellent here, as befits the price of most of them. There was not one dish that was a letdown or somewhat lacking in any way. My steak frites came out quite medium rare where I didn't wish it could've been more one way or the other. And the other standout dish were the clams, which were a good counterpoint to the beef. The Manchester is a casual restaurant in the Westchester neighborhood of Los Angeles. It's dark inside with no windows and not much light, so it doesn't feel like a typical LA restaurant. You can easily find free parking nearby. The menu has options for both vegetarians and meat-eaters, but there are only a few vegetarian options. Service has always been efficient and friendly. My husband especially likes coming here during happy hour for the $5 burger, which is a steal. I think the food here has generally been good, but I didn't love my steak the last time I was here, and I don't think this is a restaurant worth coming to if you don't live nearby. read more

The food was delicious but the customer service was the cherry on top. I ordered the steak frites and LOVED the fries and condiments but my steak was initially *very* chewy. I had a hard time with it but tried to eat it anyway while my friend ordered the same thing with no issue. I mentioned it to a server and without hesitation he took my plate (with almost all salad + fries eaten btw) and the kitchen remade my food. I got an entirely new plate, the steak was perfect and two different people checked in on me to make sure it was done well this time.
