First booked through Dana and then organized and served by John and Caesar. We had chips salsas, salad, taquitos, grilled corn, 5 different types of tacos, churros and guacamole! It was such delicious feast with such wonderful service!! Everything we ate was super yummy! The tacos were full of meat! The meat was juicy and flavorful! The guacamole was creamy delicious! The salad, corn and taquitos were fabulous! So yummy! Service was so excellent and Johnny on the spot! We were never wanting for anything! Cinco has been an old favorite place of ours where we would eat with a dear friend and we wanted to come back to reminisce. Some of the food here is good and some of it is okay. You just have to know what to get. I got my old breakfast favorite, the breakfast burrito ($12) which comes with eggs, chorizo, potatos, refried pinto beans and cream. It is pretty good and the portion size is about right for the price. (With some of the other items here, you don't get enough versus what you pay. My sweetheart got her old favorite Chilaquiles en salsa verde ($18) which is corn tortillas lightly fried, salsa verde, eggs, crema, queso Fresca, pickled red onion, cilantro & black beans and she loved it as usual. I am giving Cinco 3 stars because they have significant items that are just average and other menu items that are very stingy for the price. We stopped by Cinco Mexican restaurant with friends who live in the area before heading out on a long international flight from LAX, and it turned out to be a great choice. The service was good and food came to the table pretty fast especially for how busy they were inside with Happy Hour. The food was really good overall, but the salad especially stood out. The chicken was tender, the greens were fresh, and the dressing--though I don't remember exactly what it was...it was absolutely delicious!!! We also tried the carnitas tacos, which were packed with flavor and definitely a highlight of the meal. I've been to Cinco a few times now, all during lunchtime, and my experience has been fantastic. It's not usually crowded, and there's plenty of tables and booths as well as a large bar counter. Service is attentive and they check on patrons pretty frequently. What I really love about this place is that they offer Tlayuda, which is not commonly served at Mexican restaurants in So Cal. Tlayuda is a large, super thin, crispy tortilla topped with bean spread, meat, lettuce or cabbage, asiento and Oaxacan cheese. I've only had it in Mexico City with chapulines (grasshoppers) as a topping. That'd be cool if they served that option here too. :) Besides the Tlayuda, they have a decent selection of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and taqueria items. Other dishes I've tried here and found delicious were the Oaxacan wings, Aguachile, Shrimp Tostada Salad, and Pork Shank in mole sauce. This is a fun little place. Probably a better bar than a restaurant; the food is very good but not great. The soft tacos were very decent but needed just a bit more spice I think. They're an excellent choice if you don't like spicy food. The chips and guacamole are also quite delicious but not stellar. One think that kinda stuck out was how good the water was. I have been coming to this place for brunch for years and it's about high time I wrote a review. I always get the same thing; huevos rancheros ($18) without the sauce on top, substitute pinto beans for black beans. This time tho, I discovered how yummy their tomatillo sauce was and put that on top. Winner!!! My boyfriend got the burrito with pastor ($16) and he enjoyed it but it was kind of small. Service can be a bit slow as there are not many ppl working. The prices are a bit high for other dishes on the menu when it's not brunch, they range for about $26 and the portions a bit small (not for huevos but for other things I've tried) like $24 for 2 fish tacos. Also, I wish they gave you free chips and salsa but they charge $6 for that and $16 for chips, salsa and guacamole. All in all, I love the huevos and this place also holds special memories for me and they have a lovely outdoor space now too. We were staying nearby so my family and I decided to come in for dinner. It feels a lot like a neighborhood bar. Not all that busy but lots of groups of people chatting and having a good time. They do have large TVs for the games. We shared chips and guacamole and salsa which was delicious! My mom and aunt decided to try the mahi mahi tacos which they enjoyed. My sisters got chicken enchiladas while I got chicken tacos. The chicken wasn't dry!! Woohoo!
