Drop it like its hot! Well, that's what my tire did to me over the weekend. As I was driving up the freeway, near my exit, last Saturday night, my tire blew out! So, I had to creep up the exit ramp, at about 2 miles an hour. That was no fun at all. Then I had to wait about 30 minutes for the roadside service company to come and replace my tire with a spare. Much to my surprise, there weren't any local tire stores open on Sunday. However, thank God, I remembered a tire store I used a couple of years ago, Astro Tire, in Van Nuys. When I called, and talked with Hector, he told me to come on out and they will take care of me. As soon as I pulled onto the lot, they replaced my tire and I was back on the road in less than a 30 minutes. This may not be the most popular tire store around, but I applaud Astro Tire for their courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism. Their prices are quite reasonable too! Being a women I love the personal assistance I get in maintaining proper pressure and checking the wear and tear on my tires. I do a lot of driving so once a month I take my car to Astro and they check the Air pressure and make sure the tires are in good shape. Another car pulled up, and the owner of the business appeared from the office, walked past me to help out the other car that just arrived. The other car owner mysteriously walked off leaving his car for about 15 minutes. So the owner of the business walked by me multiple times waiting for the guy to return and never said a word to me. I called and was told I was going to get "like new" run flat tires for $80 each from the manager in the office. I was going to buy a pair. I drove from Burbank to Lake Balboa (25 minutes) only to get scum-like customer service, and be offered tires with 60% life on them... HOW IN THE WORLD IS THAT "LIKE NEW"?!?! Terrible customer service, and even worse prices. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I'm literally shocked that this place has so many decent reviews. I ended up going somewhere elsr in North Hollywood and got the same tires with same tread for $40 a piece...now that's fair. read more

Pretty basic, I bought a pretty new looking used tire for $45 out the door. Balanced and mounted. The service was friendly and fast. I will definitely go back for my next tire. The only reason I'm giving it only four stars is for the aesthetics. It doesn't bother me at all waiting on a lawn chair in an alley while they put a tire on my car, but for some it might. read more

We all know most tire places try to rip u off some way but Astro tires was different. After calling around for quotes I gave up after getting ridiculous quotes on labor and parts. Came across this place and they quoted me pretty good. After going to the shop they found more things that needed to be done(as all auto places do) but they didn't pressure or try to scare me. They replaced my tires for the price they quoted and even replaced the air valves in the tires...NO CHARGE. If there was ever an honest mechanic this place has it, This is the place. read more

January 15th, 2012. A day that will live in my heart for the rest of my years because this was the day I did not get screwed servicing my car. What a day indeed! I have Eddie and one of his employees as Astro Tire to thank for my newfound faith in the auto service industry - or at least, in his little corner of it. I had been stalling as long as I could in replacing the balding tires on my Honda. After calling Pep Boys and Sears for quotes on their least expensive tires and having a minor coronary after hearing the "best price", I found Astro Tire on Yelp. Long story short, I left there in half an hour with three slightly used tires, all in excellent shape, for about a hundred and twenty bucks as I recall. Less than half of what I would have paid. Only paid 200 bucks for everything. They finished in 30 min which was great cause my husband had my two year old with him. Quick and friendly service. I went in with a nail in my tire and an extremely low tire (back in feb. 2018)on a rainy day with my kids in the car, all the makings of an accident. They sold me a used tired at around $70, i thought it was pricey but didn't really have a choice so I purchased it. The sensor inside the tire was still telling me that it needed to be checked, the guy who changed the tire said that it would start reading it after i drove it around. It didn't, so when my car was due for an oil change i asked the delarship to reset it and they told me that they actually broke it and it would cost be around $200 to replace it. I then called the tire shop and they were extremely rude about the situation and refuse to even hear me out. I will never go to this place again! read more

The only place I go for any tire issue. Clearly, the scattered negative reviews are coming from people who (a) want work done free, or (b) want a miracle. Eddie (the owner) is the best! He's fair, fast, friendly, and affordable. As a woman, visiting an auto shop can be daunting and most of us have no clue if we're being swindled...Eddie is so honest and upfront. He offers you options ranging in price and does his best to meet your needs. A little bonus that has nothing to do with tires - Eddie's a lover of animals, which, for me, is nice to know. first, this is a used tire place so they may not have the size you are looking for, depending on the shipment, though they have a good selection. that said, i was truly amazed at what 'used tires' means these days. eddie's stock looks basically new. he explained that many of his tires are off of new cars where the owner is doing an upgrade, or things like that. the tires i got appeared brand new, were put on within 25 minutes of choosing them, and i was off. this last point is not a problem with astro, but for some sizes they may only have 2 of a particular size. i highly recommend getting ALL 4 tires the same size, not doing a different width or something for the back. but if you just need 2 tires, or need all 4 but require a pretty standard size, this place cannot be beat for selection and drastic amount you'll save over new tire costs...especially since most of these tires are basically new. read more
