There is a main waitress who has been there for years that will physically and verbally, Try to stop you from leaving if you have not paid a tip. The Ninjas of Dirty Plate Removal! Let me tell you, this Chinese buffet is next level. The food? Absolutely fantastic--crispy egg rolls, perfectly sauced General Tso's, and a lo mein that had me questioning my life choices (mainly why I hadn't come here sooner). But the real stars of the show? The plate ninjas. I swear, these servers must have trained with the Shaolin monks because the second--the very second--I put my fork down, my plate vanished. I tried to test them by fake-chewing while staring suspiciously, but somehow, they still managed to swoop in and clear my plate before I even blinked. I think they operate on a separate timeline from the rest of us. At one point, I turned my head for a sip of water, and when I looked back--poof--my plate was gone. I started to wonder if I had even eaten at all. Were they clearing my food before I finished it? Had I imagined that plate of dumplings? These people are thieves. I used my Apple Pay and got charged $81.00 for one Togo buffet plate. After getting charged I drove up there to let them know I was wrongfully charged $63.00 on a $18 meal. I wasn't given a receipt, so I showed my bank statement with my card number and was still told they didn't have a charge but I was charged on my statement and was told let the bank handle it. Hibachi grill is delicious. Meat on it is a little tough, but I love the meat choices on the buffet. Sushi choices are also very good.

We love to go to Asuka's. The food and the price are well worth the trip to Smyrna. I usually fill my plate with a variety of fish/seafood and specialty Asian cuisine. I love that there are so many sweet choices for dessert. read more

I don't know about any location other than Tuscaloosa, AL, but that location is trying to price themselves out of business. I will not pay over $16 for a bad dinner buffet when other Chinese buffets are in the $10 to $12 dollar range. There are too many other choices of restaurants with much better food to choose from. A bit underwhelming I must say. The sushi was not fresh, at all. Many items on the buffet had been sitting out for quite some time. There were fruit flies circling the salad bar. PROS: Sushi bar, large takeout box option. CONS: Very poor quality. Meat dishes consistently contain gristle, fat, and bone fragments. Everything here is overwhelmingly greasy, even when ordering fresh from the hibachi grill. Meat, especially chicken, can be questionably undercooked on some dishes. Not many vegetarian or meat free options. Pricey considering the low quality. OVERALL: The only reason I'm giving Asuka two stars instead of one is that you can get a decent amount of sushi here compared to the average price of sushi at other restaurants. Again, don't have high expectations of their sushi options or quality, but it's convenient when you get a craving. read more

July 29, 2021 - I stopped in for my first time today. I was a bit hesitant because of the previous reviews and I was impressed with this place. I arrived at 11:15 am and the food was fresh. There was a lady behind the counter rolling up fresh sushi rolls and another guy next to her manning the hibachi grill. You give him the ingredients you want and he'll cook you up a fresh plate. Saw this place on Yelp and was a little apprehensive due to low ratings, however all the reviews were dated. My brother and I wanted hibachi without paying an arm and a leg so we gave it a go. We arrived at about 130 in the afternoon. First the service was second to none. Everyone was very courteous and the restaurant was very clean. Although I didn't eat much on the bar, the food looked fresh and the were continuously bringing out fresh entrees. I only ate a few egg rolls and the hibachi cooked rice on the bar. The hibachi selection was very good. For protein, they had steak, pork, chicken and shrimp. They had a wide assortment of veggies and sauces to complete the hibachi experience. The only negative aspect was that they did not have eggs. That is the only reason that I didn't give this place 5 stars. read more

Once we were seated our waitress was absolutely horrible, I have never been to such a disrespectful restaurant! We went to the front and asked for the manager & the said "there's no manager available" so we asked for another waiter. Of all the Chinese buffets I've had around here, this is probably the best. For a while my fave was Chef Wangs in the Boro or Hayashi in Franklin, but this has quickly supplanted them. Not only is it closer and cheaper, the food is better and fresher. The place is a little smaller but they seem have just as much food as Wangs. Though they don't have the quantity of sushi at Hayashi, the quality is definitely better. Rolls are tighter, not falling apart with just a touch, and look like they were just made(as it should). I don't know if it's the complacency of being around so long, but other place's food just don't seem as good as they once did. Not bad, just like they cut corners since they know customers will just keep coming anyways. Will Asuka do the same once they've been here for a while? Who knows, but until they do I'll keep coming. They have all your staples: general tsao's, fried rice, hot & sour soup, chicken on a stick, crab rangoons, etc., and it's all good. Everything is hot and fresh and doesn't look like they've been sitting under the heating lights for the past 3 days. The decor is your typical asian restaurant as well: bamboo, lucky cats, lanterns, but more subdued so somehow it doesn't look as cheesy as the others. Wanted to wait to come back before writing a review, but I can say that the food and service here is pretty good. Sushi isn't half bad (for buffet sushi) and fresh food is constantly being brought out. Definitely try the spring rolls and stuffed scallops - those are excellent. Egg Foo Young was very good as was the Spicy Chicken and Bourbon Chicken. General Tso's has been a little lacking in heat both times I've tried it, but otherwise tasty. The egg rolls were really the only item that I think I'll pass on in the future. Service is fast, and they are constantly busing dirty plates and cleaning up. This place was delightful. The interior decorations created an intimate and calming atmosphere. They had a wide selection of foods. I had lunch at Asuka for the first time today. (My husband went on Wednesday, and wanted me to try it) It is very clean, and the food was fresh and super delicious!!! Our server was very pleasant. The Bourbon chicken was my favorite! So tender and lots of flavor! They have Sushi, but no smoked Eel (my favorite, I don't eat raw fish) Also a Magnolian grill, which I might try out next time.
