AT&T is awful. I had AT&T for several years, but in recent years, they could not keep my Internet working. They would schedule a time for a tech to appear, then not show up. Most annoying, AT&T's so-called "Virtual Assistant" schedules stuff and dialogs with customers, but it's an outright liar. I waited for a tech one day during the 8 - 12 window Virtual Assistant gave me. Virtual Assistant kept texting me "we're late but we're on the way" for over FOUR HOURS. When it was obvious the tech did not show up, I texted "When are you coming?" Virtual Assistant answered, "We can help you with that." The next day, Virtual Assistant texted "Your repair is complete." I replied, "I don't believe you." Virtual Assistant replied (again) "We can help you with that." Total incompetence. I switched to Spectrum. After I terminated AT&T, they emailed me a "How did we do?" inquiry. I answered it, and a couple of weeks later I received the same inquiry. Scam ! When I moved into my apt they recommended AT&T so the tech can out and installed a router. Now 11 months later I call to disconnect because moving out of state. They want to charge me $150 for something I have NO control over. They want the modem returned which I would be glad to do but NOT a possible and according to then I am NOT to remove it and my landlord says it will not be removed. I brought a new laptop. I'm a current AT&T Internet customer. Wanted to download the McAfee VirusScan Plus software on the new laptop. Easy task I thought. Found a page on the AT&T site for the download. It instructed me to send an Email to attantivirus@att.com and I would receive the download instructions. A month later and 10 emails sent. NO INSTRUCTIONS. So I breakdown and call Customer Support. The voice prompt could not provide info on the VirusScan software and kept running diagnostics on my system and wanted to reboot my router. It took several calls and me telling the auto voice prompt "Speak to an Agent Please" over and over, before I got someone on the phone. The person directed me to the same email instructions that had not worked. I informed her that I did that already!! She made some calls and came back with "The server is currently down, it should be back up Sept 1st." I asked how long has it been down, because I have been trying for a month to get an email reply for the download. "It has been down for awhile" SERIOUSLY AT&T!!!! Yes the service is intermittent at times, yes it's very annoying that they are the only fiber option but this is a message to anyone getting new service. Particularly if they have to run service from the box to your house. We've had our service for a while now and I just called about it going out. The guy I spoke to was asking questions and we figured out that the issue at that moment (there have been other issues but they can't explain that) was that the router had gotten unplugged. I explained that the netgear box and added outlets they connected to my power bar was the issue. First issue the tech that installed was to lazy to install the router correctly so went to the closest room which happens to be the most isolated room in the house which causes issues with connection in the bedrooms on the other side of the house. So instead of saying hey that's going to cause you issues he just took this non AT&T device out of his truck to "fix" the problem. Second issue he added extra plugs to a power bar which could be a fire hazard. So long story short I told the guy at AT&T what the problem is first that device was not something they use second he agreed that moving the router would make a huge impact however, it's already installed so that will be an additional $150 to have someone come move it. Fiber is new in the neighborhood and when they brought it in the caused all kinds of issues and now they can't install it correctly. I was moving to another state and looked and saw I only had two options for phone, internet, and cable and it was a cable company I have used repeatedly over the last twenty years when it was available and AT&T with DirecTV package. He proceeded to pretend to cave and say that he would go and draw up a deal and that it would be "on-hold" until I was to move (I called about four to five weeks before my move). Ok no harm right? Tell me the deal I'll talk it over with the wife and if we like it no issues we don't do anything, if not call and cancel. WRONG!!! But before I get there I will tell you what he proceeded to lie to me about. Because I was switching services I would get a gift card. In addition since I was a long-time loyal AT&T wireless customer I would get a second gift card. And if I called the day I started service and get the wireless and internet/DirecTV on one bill the one gift card tripled in value. Ok, well still not as ling as the cable company but hey it's equal to about 10 free months according to him. He then goes through pitching internet speed of 500 mbps and then talks tv packages. When I get to the end he had messed it up giving me 300 mbps and higher tv package. Ok, I probably don't need the 500 mbps and it's cheaper and he is "doing me a solid" because he is supposed to "push the 500 mbps" package. Totally glossed over that I wanted the basic DirecTV package. But hey it's all on hold right?!? NOPE!!! He said somewhere along the way that both AT&T and DirecTV were one company and it would be one bill each month. Nice I mean who doesn't like fewer bills to keep track of. And with the new streaming service you can just pack up the AT&T and DirecTV equipment and move and setup with no issues provided AT&T had internet in that area. (For the record they are NOT the same company and it is two different bills). So fast forward a few hours I talk to the wife and see that he had out wrong tv package with regional sports and where I am moving there are no regional sports or any sports teams in the nearby states that I like. We got busy with the move and decided we'd talk about it the next day. The next day I get an email from DirecTV saying they shipped my equipment to the house we are still in escrow (yup didn't even finalize the sale yet)! What happened to service starting in a month and it's all on hold anyway?!? So I called DirecTV, couldn't get them to hold package I had to talk directly to FedEX (yeah good luck on that one) but I was able to change the plan. I received an email and it still looked like I had the regional sports package but when I called back they assured me I didn't have it. After talking to FedEX they assured me the box would be held at the local office for me when I arrived in a few weeks. Nope it was delivered right before the final walkthrough. Luckily my realtor was there and picked it up for me and put it inside the house. My AT&T equipment shipped and arrived the day before I got here so hey at least it's there and should be an easy install right?!? I mean I got an email saying download the app and create an account now and you will be ready for quick and easy setup....so I downloaded the app did the registration, which took me five tries to finally get it right. So I get here and see the area that has the AT&T device already in the wall and sat down on the floor to install. I got as far as "this will take about 9 minutes" which never changed time for 20 minutes and finally said error we can troubleshoot. Ok I click it. It took to same looking screen and says we can troubleshoot. Ok cool...clicked and it gave me a number to call...ugh ok. The lady asked my account number. I have no idea as I just moved in with nothing but a few suitcases and I am calling from my AT&T phone...shouldn't you have it??! AT&T fiber has been out since 8:40 this morning. They keep pushing back the time to restore. The message states techs are working the issue. I've covered the entire area of the outage and there is not one truck roll and certainly no visible work. There is also no fiber finding Backhaul in my area. In the Dallas suburbs in a new neighborhood which is all underground fiber to my home IT closet. Chose the Internet 300 package and have been receiving 350 Mbps Wi-Fi consistently. Having trouble with DirectTV and my Samsung TV's but that is an app and Samsung issue. My computer is hardwired Ethernet to the modem in which occasional have a disconnect/pause issue. Not sure that's AT&T and not sure how I will troubleshoot since it is momentary. read more

Due to my financial situation I became past due for my January and February payments. My service was suspended, but I was able to make a payment for my January balance. Now only being due for my current payment which was due on the 16th and today being the 19th for 60.00 so technically I'm only three days past due. I spoke with three different managers and no one would agree to reconnect my services with the payment arrangements for my current balance. My Internet has been out for three days, and the only feedback I get from AT&T is that there is an outage near me. I knew that. Somebody cut their cable trying to steal copper. Randy however, belittled my grandmothers death and told me that if I wanted to have my internet fixed i would have to keep my phone on and leave the funeral to meet the repair guy or I would be charged $99. Randy transferred me to to his direct supervisor "RED" who doubled down on Randy's ascertain that at&t had no other repair times and that I should skip my grandmothers funeral to meet the installer. I requested that the company stop robodialing on 8/14/2015. After receiving another robodial at 2:00 PM PST on 9/14/2015, I called at 5:00 PST, and spoke with Mable regarding this egregious behavior. She apologized, and initially said the calls could not be stopped as I was a customer. Once I complained that I requested to be removed from the robodialing list, and that an opt out was required, she worked with her supervisor to suppress the call moving forward. As I am unsure that this will take hold any better than last time I requested this, I want to ensure others are aware of this situation. Beware, take your business elsewhere. AT&T came out to wire our office for internet and they did what they do to thousands of people all over the nation. They took out our land line, and removed the cables so it was inoperable. They proceeded to put the phone line into their modem, making it a forced package of internet and phone. Land lines work during a power outage. There is a push by the telecom companies to get rid of land lines. ATT is very good at marketing their internet service, bundling it with phone, cable services. once you are signed up, you are at their mercy. tech support isn't good. technicians scheduled to show usually don't. they don't even bother to call. the technicians don't work for ATT, just subcontracters. while in contract, the internet deals sound good. when the contract ends, ATT always refuses to renew. they just jack up the price. when you switch, they call constantly call with "deals". after a couple of times, i/family ignored them. we also don't have landlines either. read more

This started as having ATT install fiber optics into our home. I pay a premium price but have not gotten premium service. They suggested I rent their booster because televisions and computers were being bumped offline. The booster hasn't helped at all. When they installed the fiber optic internet in our home, they sent an ATT sales rep that talked us into switching our cell phones (5 Lines) and to Direct TV. He promised us a $250 preloaded card for up to 4 lines. I received the $50 card from ATT for Direct TV, but nothing on the cell phones. I tried to call the business card he had left me, but it had been disconnected. Next, I called ATT and was told that that particular promotion was only if your old lines were ported. Nothing like that was mentioned during the transaction. They advised me that he was no longer with the company and I would have to get in touch with his boss. The problem here is that none of the phone reps will give me a name or way to contact him. I have been fighting this for almost a year and a half and the best offer they gave me was $100 off my next bill. I told the Rewards agent that I was willing to have the $250.00 deducted from my bill over four months. She told me she could not authorize that. I asked to speak to someone who could, and that the maximum I could receive was $100.00 off of my next bill. Are you kidding? A company should stand behind promises made by one of their reps PERIOD! ATT is a horrible company to deal with! Never again! Please beware of this fraudulent game they play. I turned in my old phones for credit on the new ones - it was supposed to be $1,000 per phone over three years. I want to rid myself of this unscrupulous company. I called AT&T to report my phone lost and to buy a new one. I started at 9:30 this a.m. It is now 4:00 p.m. They have tried every fraud in the book. First they sold 2 phones at once and said they could not cancel one. Then they sold me a new line W/O even asking me. I found out when a "Terms and Conditions" form arrived in my email box. I finally was able to process my one phone purchase and was off the nightmare phone call at 6:00 p.m. So it took 8.5 hours to buy a new phone. It took 8.5 hours because they kept selling and adding things on my account I did not ask for, discuss (totally never came up) and then telling me they had no ability to cancel or transfer to management. Yes...I tried calling back and getting a new rep. They are all in the Phillipines or Bangladesh and from a cheap agency b/c they don't really speak English. Some of those call centers over there are cheap labor--$1.00/day vs hiring a U.S. worker--but at least they have been well trained. AT&T must be paying .50 cents/day for their reps. Also it is clearly a training issue by Corporate to up-sell you into products you didn't ask or want. I hope the A.G.'s of every State sue them just like they did W.F. when they did this to their customers. Upset! read more

Atrocious customer service. Website self-help did not resolve issue and didn't even recognize we had Uverse outage. Phone support is a time-waster - asking for all account info through automation. Once you provide it there is neither an available person nor an option for call back. Both options were unavailable due to "technical problems". What company doesn't answer the phone when their equipment fails? And why am I paying $300 per month for this garbage? read more

DO NOT Get their internet. They like to play games and slow your internet down and even have it go in and out. Then when you call and do everything they say to do it miraculously works again....for a while. Then after a few weeks we're back to square 1. Im glad we're switching from them. read more

I HATE ATT!!!!!! They suck!!! They want to charge me $80/mo for fiber giapower but after a month and a half I'm not even getting half of that. Netflix still pixilates!! They can't get it fixed so their solution? Drop me to 100Mbps for wait for it... $60/mo YES 90% drop in speed but they still want nearly as much $$ INSANE THEY just suck!! 4 home techs and too many calls to count. I've NEVER had this much trouble with internet. I'm done with ATT!!! DONE DONE! Never going to use any of their stuff ever again read more
