They are not free, the IPad comes with a -- surprise! -- $20.99 per month wireless fee (in addition to the $504, spread over 36 months, for the IPad itself, which is available on Amazon for $400. Worse, after finding it impossible to cancel the IPad wireless fee (I was resigned to keeping and paying for the tablet itself), I went back to this store, where I found my original snakeoil peddler, and was told that, because I had purchased his "bargain bundle", he couldn't cancel it, and referred me back to the inaccessible service department at AT&T itself. That saved him from paying back the commission he'd earned by fleecing me, but did me no good. Stay away. read more

I went to the AT&T store in Portsmouth and I wont ever go anywhere else, I was having issues with my phone and my sons, I was very upset and down about it. I went in and George and Connor relieve my pain , They were very Professional and calm which in return calm me down, They resolved my problems with easy and confidence I walk out of the store happy and content. I will absolutely recommend anyone I know to go to Portsmouth AT&T store you want your problem resolved ask for George or Connor they will be there for you and give great service. AT&T did a bait and switch with my family plan. They took us from Verizon promising lower payments, a teacher discount and new trade ins. When the working iPhones were sent in AT&T claimed they were not working which was not true as they were the phones in use until we switched. They said the teacher did not have to be the primary account holder which was also a lie and is not an easy fix as they are trying to rearrange the entire bill. This plan was switched at BJs and we were told that AT&T employees at BJs are not forthcoming with information and this problem has happened to many people. Getting in touch with AT&T has been a problem as well as they do not help or offer any solutions. We have been swindled out of thousands of dollars and they are not working to make it right. read more

I have been an AT&T customer for over 20 years, when it was AT&T, then Cingular, then AT&T. When I moved to southern Maine, I went to this location for help with my account and was lucky enough to get Maureen as my salesperson. Over the years she has helped us with just about anything we need and even texts me if there is a deal she thinks would lower our bill or that I'm ready for a new iPhone (my choice of cell phone). If you go here, ask for Maureen - you won't be disappointed. And I love AT&T's coverage area - I travel frequently all over the country and have yet to hit a dead spot. I LOVE THEM! read more

Last Tuesday my phone stopped working and nothing I did prompted it to start again. So I went to AT&T in Exeter to get help, nothing. They told me the Portsmouth location would help me out. In the meantime of this wild goose chase, my prepaid plan was pending. And I still had no access to the phone or Internet. So I got to the Portsmouth store on Friday, and Taylor, the associate said she would be able to remove the pending charge on my account and cancel my phone plan. Things seem ok for the next few hours until the charge goes through. I call AT&T customer service the next day and went through 2 people to speak with the payment advisor about this mishap. According to her, if the charge is pending and even if you try to stop it on the day of, it goes through. Apparently, I was supposed to have access to the Internet or call far ahead to stop it from happening. And the cherry on top is that there is a no refund policy even if you did all you could to prevent this from happening. Awful company. Absolutely terrible. I will NOT do business with them again! read more

I recently switched from Verizon Wireless to AT&T and I was very impressed on the 2 occasions that I was in the store. One day was to purchase a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3 (16gb) - they don't offer the 32gb in RED as they are the only cell company with that color as of the time of this review. The sales person Dan was so helpful going through the maps of my main "areas of use" to see that the service would work for me. He then went through the various plans for both voice as well as data. AT&T is now doing a deal that if you do unlimited text for $20/mo you get FREE/NO MINS DEDUCTED calling to/from ANY mobile phone regardless of the carrier. That is a very sweet deal to say the least considering that 75% of the people I call use their cell phones as the #1 contact number. After he got everything set up including the port of my number from VZW (took less than 10 minutes) he took my Galaxy Nexus from VZW and the new phone to the back and transferred all of my contacts. He also offered to spend time going over the features on the phone but I declined as I like to play around and figure it out myself. The signal strength and the battery life seem to be very good so far. The 2nd visit was to bring my VZW 64gb ipad3 to AT&T as I was told by AppleCare that all that I needed to do was backup the ipad, take the device to AT&T, have them put their SIM card in, factory reset the device and I would convert the VZW ipad to a fully functional AT&T device. Taylor was my sales representative and she was very cautious, not a bad thing since this was the first time anyone in the store had done this. Not many people know that you can actually take you $829 ipad3 with you when you switch company's and don't have to buy a replacement. When I came home I hooked the ipad up to my pc and the transfer of all my content and folders was seamless with the aid of Apple Care on the phone for support. Several family members of mine are planning to switch from VZW to AT&T when their contracts are up OR when the iphone5 comes out. AT&T is a breath of fresh air and a nice new start. I am happy to be their customer and hope to be with them for the next 15 years like I had been with VZW before the company started to punish customers with new fees and less desirable data plans. read more

Very poor customer service culture encouraged by branch manager. Rude, unwilling to help and sarcastic. ATT customer for about 10 years. I had a request to adjust a gift card in one of my recent purchases. Simple ask but would take about 10 mins. Instead of helping me out, i was threatened with all type of restock fees logic even when I was not returning anything. Went to another ATT store and got it done without any hassle. read more

You guys are at least keeping your reputation intact with consistently horrendous customer service. Leo the manager couldn't be bothered to help me ( neither could the women I spoke to before him who talked over me and hung up while I was explaining the issue). This is a common practice of at&t - we can't help you but they can. And no one helps and you get nowhere. The customer care number sends you to the store and they say no customer care has to take care of this. You guys fucking suck!!! read more

I've been an AT&T for a long time. My plan has changed over time and I've always felt I was getting the best deal possible...not true in the last few years. After switching a family member from a corporate plan into our family plan, the bill doubled and everything imaginable became a 100-car train wreck! Countless hours on the phone, email chats did nothing to resolve the problems. I walked into the Portsmouth store for an upgrade and mentioned my on-going headaches. Taylor to the rescue!! Not Customer Service Friendly, I will never go back I was treated poorly. The Store manager was not helpful. In fact, he continued to tell me how he could not help me instead of telling me how the store could help me. He did not think outside the box and reach out to other resources. I went to the store because I called ATT customer service and they suggested I go to the store to get the information from my old defective ATT phone transferred to the new phone they sent to me. The store manager told me that the 'google cloud' would transfer my data. I told him that the ATT transfer Application worked better but because ATT did not send me a battery with my new device I could not use this option. He repeatedly told me that the ATT Transfer Application could not transfer other applications. When in fact the cloud did not transfer all the data and they needed to use the ATT Transfer Application. They needed to use a battery from a phone in the store to do this. They were not able to transfer my applications because this was not a service they offer although we found out from another associate that the ATT Tranfer Application does transfer other applications. I called ATT customer service for another issue and they offered to send me a battery. Had ATT sent me another battery this experience could have been avoided because I could have transferred the information on my own. The ATT Transfer Appication saves a lot of time and makes the experience of transferring information from one device to another more user friendly. The store manager could have offered to call ATT customer service and did not. This would have saved me a lot of giref. I was treated with disrespect and was repeatedly talked down to and told that the information that I knew was incorrect when in fact it was proven to be correct. I will never return to this store. This is the second ATT store where I had a poor experience. I feel that because I was not purchasing a product that they did not want to help me. I think that if I was puchasing something they may have been nicer. I will most likely search out other cell phone service options (ie, purchasing a device from best buy or going to another provider.) read more
