Great experience at Applemeister! I accidentally dropped my phone, face down, on hardwood floor and shattered the screen. Thankfully everything else was working (I could hear my notifications coming through and phone ringing, but couldn't see anything). I was hoping it would be an easy screen replacement so that I wouldn't have to shell out big $$$ for a new phone altogether. I was checking on Yelp the next day for mobile phone repair in the area and found a few. Applemeister had the best reviews, so I started reading through them. Someone mentioned that they have a Groupon, so I bought it, and then realized it's the same price as when you walk in, so at least you're still getting a deal! The other 2 places locally that replace screens were $10 more. They don't open until 10:30am, but if you work/live close by, it's not an issue. I headed up that way and got there a little after 10:30. Robert wasn't there yet, so the guy who works at the souvenir shop (Applemeister is in the back end of the souvenir shop) called him, explained my situation and was able to take my phone and information and told me to come back at 4pm. Around 2pm Robert called me to make sure of the color screen I wanted (since my phone had an after-market white screen on it instead of the standard black - thankfully he had one white one in stock) and said it would be done in about 20-30 minutes. I had a long work day, so couldn't pick it up until 4pm. When I arrived, my phone looked fantastic! Great customer service by Robert, fast repairs, convenient location and priced well. I also bought a tempered glass screen in addition because I'm clumsy and this will hopefully prevent another broken screen! I had a terrific experience. Over a month ago, I shattered my 5s and I tried to hold out for the new 6. I finally broke down when my son showed me a little piece of glass on his hand. When I brought the ipad to a new location in Mountain View, I was told that the apple parts inside had been replaced with cheap China parts. I regret that Yelp does not have the option of not giving any stars. I would give a negative star if there's an option. This establishment is a big time hustler and hustled a special needs class. Do I need to say more? I will. I bought a Groupon to have my classroom iPad screen repaired. I called on a Thursday and was told to come by on Sunday. I was told that I bought the wrong Groupon but they will accept it. I emphasized that I did not want to pay more and would just return the Groupon I bought for $59 if I had to pay anything more. I was assured that I will not pay more and the Groupon will be accepted for the screen repair. My boyfriend traveled to SF for an hour. Their store was closed on Sundays. I was not told the correct information. They arranged for someone to meet him. Someone met my boyfriend after two hours. They accepted the Groupon. They said they will call in 2-3 business days to tell us it is ready for pick up. A week after, we didn't hear from them. I had to call to find out if it is ready for pick up. They apologized and said they got our contact number wrong. My boyfriend picked it up. They refused to release my classroom iPad for my special needs students if he cannot pay $110 more. They said they cannot find my Groupon voucher and that I bought the wrong Groupon. I called the owner, after clarifying what was told to me, he ended the telephone conversation by hanging up on me and saying "Go ahead and sue me, I'll win!" Wow. My iPhone 6s has been messed up for sometime now, and i decided to try Applemeister due to a recommendation from a cashier at a nearby restaurant. I walked in around 4 pm and told the owner (a white guy with a weird chain wallet that hasn't been in style since the 90's) that my screen has been messed up for some time now and i wanted a simple screen replacement. We agreed on the price (which was about $10 below market average), and he informed me after i paid that it will take until the next day. I asked for a temporary phone until mine was fixed and he said that he does not do that. I shrugged it off and went home for the day, happy with my experience so far. I went back the next day and he gave me my phone turned off, which i thought was weird because usually they show you that the phone is functional but i believed that cashier (who i will hold accountable to this experience) when he told me it was great service. I turned it on and went home, only to find that the screen did not work properly. I tried to see if it needed time to set or anything but there were some spots where the touch didn't even register on the device. Upset i went back, and he told me to come back in the next day and he will see what went wrong. I agreed and went back in and he acted like he did not recognize me, and that i was never there. Proof of me being there was i bought a crepe both days i was there and the lady asked me the third day if i wanted another. He told me he's never seen me before and that i was trying to rip him off and get free service, and even told me i was full of it when i threatened to call the better business bureau which he called a bs organization. I had my phone to replace battery three time at this store. First time, the new battery's life was drained very fast, only 3 months then drop down to 75%. And then he changed another battery for me, but it only worked 3 weeks and I found the battery was inflated. After the third time he changed another battery, I found other new issue again. I can say this guy is not professional totally, every time he just said the battery was come from China and its not his fault as well he was very rude. I bought a used iPhone 5 from Craigslist. This douchebag from the East Bay sold me an iPhone which has screen problems that he never mentioned in the ad nor told me about. After taking the phone to the Genius Bar at Apple to troubleshoot the problem, they determined that it was a water damaged screen which makes the phone screen unresponsive after a few taps unless you turn the phone off and then on to make the screen shortly responsive again. I constantly had to go through this cycle each time. It ultimately needed replacing. I would get it replaced there except I am super cheap so I decided to search around for reasonable prices/deals and found Applemeister through Groupon. I bought the Groupon. Went to the store and Lily who was one of the people who works on the iPhone devices were pretty cool. She understood the issue, took my Groupon, told me replacing the screen should take 35 minutes and I left her with phone to do eat at a restaurant. One hour later, sure enough the phone screen was replaced and working just as good as new again! Just a heads up, even though you paid for the Groupon and the thus able to use it to cover the repairs, you need to pay sales tax that Groupon didn't cover so mines came out to 9 something dollars. Lesson here is make sure the iPhone (or any phone for that matter) you are buying online are not defective. Painful lesson I had to learn. However, in the event that somehow you did ended up unknowingly purchase a defective phone, bring it here and Applemeister will make the lesson a lot less painful! Find them through groupon, although their menu prices are the same as the groupon price I think. Excellent service and price, he finished my iphone 5s screen repair in a couple of hours. I also asked to replace the battery while he had the phone open. Phone is working like-new. No scratches or apparent marks from his repair. You can tell he's a professional, probably better than the Apple "Geniuses" themselves. Except here, you can just walk in and get your phone repaired in a couple of hours without the hassle of an Apple Store wait. You can see his graveyard of broken screens and iphones, so you know he's seen pretty much everything. It really hurt my nerve to deal with this place, it took about 6 months. The phone was crushed and I paid $150 as they asked. Phone was only working 50% after the owner said "i did all the responsibility". What to do with un functioned phone? The owner is aggressive and refused to refund 50% as I best offered to end this stupidity. He said he wants to try something else. This repeated x3 times over 6 months. Spent my weekend to visit the unpleasant store. They never call you or let you know once it's worked on. You have to visit. I had my phone serviced here twice for broken screen. Both times I got my phone back with something else wrong with it. First time, the ear speakers won't work and front camera won't work. Second time, the charging port stop working. I threatening him, I would report him to the police if he doesn't fix what he jus did. This place is the worst for many reasons. 1 - I purchased a groupon to have my iphone screen fixed. He did not honor this and blamed it on not having the right part in stock, which would take 2 weeks to get in stock. My other option was to pay more for the part he happened to have in stock. Interesting how that worked... 2 - He does shoddy work! After he replaced my screen, it was immediately loose, there were streaks and the touch screen didn't work very well. 3 - He is never there! Disregard the hours completely. When I went to have his shoddy work replaced, I waited 45 minutes while he looked for parking. Bottom line, take your phone repairs elsewhere. Used as an "access point," for UPS packages and multiple times no one is at the store during hours to help me get my package. The business next door yelled saying that the hours are wrong and to come later. When I asked when they said "I don't know." My package was just sitting behind the counter so I serviced myself and took it. Not only is there no one to help but my valuable package along with other people's were sitting behind the counter for anyone to take. SO very pleased with Robert and Applemeister. The 4 stars is only because of an extra charge that I was not anticipating with the purchase of a Groupon- there are apparently two types of screen replacements, one for the Groupon with a 30 day warranty, or one from Apple with a 1-year warranty that costs $10 more than the Groupon price. But all-in-all it was still very affordable (relative to getting a new phone or replacing it!) and the service was fast, flexible, and done with great expertise. All of my prior quotes to fix my ipad 2 was 200+. Then, I hopped on a $59 groupon deal to repair my Ipad 2 screen. I dropped off my ipad at 1pm and had the option picking it up at 8pm but decided to pick it up the next day. Robert is an one man business. He's very nice and professional. I couldn't ask for more. As far as the quality of the glass, it's slightly thicker than original screen. You really can't tell the difference. Robert did try to sell me on his ipad cases, which all of his accessories are within reasonable prices. Maybe, he was pushing a sale or he felt sorry for my case since it was patched up with scotch tape. It was probably the pathetic scotch tape. My stand-by for a reason: There are shops that will "break your bank" to pull lint out of the charger port, then there's Applemeister. I've been in for phone flashing, chargers, speakers, a software issue, and two broken screens so far. Robert is fair, does good work, and he does it FAST. If he's working on your device, and you decide to wait for it, there's a great bar (Vesuvio) and awesome book store (City Lights) like 300ft from the door. Also worth mentioning is the repair parts and materials he uses are top notch (I've been too many shops that use cheapo EVERYTHING). The chargers and speaker I bought from him were also very high quality. Despite the great service and products, the prices are very reasonable. As mentioned in other reviews, there's a service fee to run cards so just bring cash. In sum, even if I moved to another part of town, I'd be coming back to Applemeister. read more

Don't go here if you want bad customer service and want to wait a long time to have your phone fixed in Chinatown. I had my Nexus 5 phone screen cracked and ordered the replacement part on Sat Feb 21 from Robert which was supposed to come on Fri Feb 27 (5 business days). I texted Robert on Fri to see if the part came in and there was no reply. I called him the following day and he said he wasn't sure if the part came in yet or not since he wasn't at the store yet. I stopped by on Monday morning to see if the part came in but Robert wasn't in the store yet. I called that same afternoon and left a voice message as well as a text. Evening came and I still didn't hear back by phone or text. I called back a second time, again no answer. I called again the third time close to 7 pm (1 hour before the store closes), finally got a hold of him and asked him about the part. He was referring to a different order that I didn't place and thought he was talking to someone else. When I reminded him what part I talked about, he asked me to call him back in a couple minutes since he wasn't sure why he couldn't track my order. When I called back, he said that the phone part is delayed and is estimated to come in on Mon, March 9. That's 2 weeks just for the part to come in! I asked him to cancel the order since it's taking way too long to have the part come in. He said he call the supplier to cancel and let me know the following day by 11:30-12. That didn't happen so I stopped by the store again. I asked him if he followed up with the supplier and he said no since the part was already in transit and he couldn't cancel it. I got a call from him on Sat saying that the phone part came in. I asked him again to cancel it since I was going with another phone company to fix my phone asap. He said if I told him that earlier, then he could have cancelled, a contradiction from a week ago when he said he couldn't cancel since it was already in transit. I picked up the phone part on Mon and took it to fix to another company in under 20 mins. I didn't know how long I would need to wait for Robert to fix my phone. Not being able to be reached by phone/text or in store is bad customer service and business and is not worth your time here so its best to go somewhere else. read more

If I can give it no stars, I would. brought it back 3 times to Robert to get it fixed. First of all he was never there when I went and had to wait every time I went back. ROBERT is a crook. He has connections with different employees of different phone companies to rip people off. This is an inside job and I believe his place is where people with stolen IPHONES go so the police are now investigating as of 5 minutes ago. He took a hundred dollars on Jan 2nd to unlock a used phone that we bought. Here we are on Jan 30th and the phone still is not unlocked. He has avoided my calls and text messages and only answers when I call from another phone or block my number! He said he did not get my text messages but when I called him after threatening to report his SCAM operation, he repeated every word of my text. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN! You will loose your money. Now today, he wants me to pay him more money because he says "they say certain IME numbers for Apple phones cannot get unlocked easily" (he never told me who they was). He yelled at me on the phone when I threatened to report him. This is what a crook does. A businessman has customer service skills and if they promise to give a service, they absorb the cost when they are not able to perform that service. AGAIN you will loose money! ONE MONTH WITHOUT A PHONE that was suppose to be my son's birthday present. His birthday was 5 days ago. I am devastated and lost a total of $500 because of ROBERT! On top of it, once I questioned him and did not give him more money, he yelled at me and said "I don't take threats so you can report me or take me to small claims court". Are you in a place of business or out on the streets trying to earn respect? I am so confused! Then when I threaten to take him up on his offer to report him, he says he is going to report me for threatening to do what he told me to do! You don't know who I am? I am resourceful and will follow the police departments instructions on reporting your business to the city for a full investigation.
