I haven't been to Garden Ridge since I was a kid and that was way back in the day. There was that old Garden Ridge Pottery over on 45 that was an old mall of some sorts converted into Garden Ridge.I just totally dated myself. I have vivid memories of my mother spending, what felt like, half a day roaming aimlessly around that place. As a child, it sucked. So I have to say I was pretty surprised to see what Garden Ridge had become. Again, it's been a while. I remember it being more of an arts and crafts store with a lot of fake plants. I found several home decor items I would love to have in my home. Unfortunately I am on a budget and limiting my spending at this time. I was with my mother and she was interested in purchasing a rug. There was a huge selection of awesomely priced rugs. I mean, huge selection and very diverse. They also had a huge selection of bedding and lamps. We purchased the cutest peace sign lamp with shade for my little sister for around $25. See what I mean? Awesome. I am super glad I put aside my past memories and took a chance on Garden Ridge again. read more

This store is much better organized than Garden Ridge ever was, along with a remodeled interior. The quality of items here are similar to the quality you would find at TJ Maxx and Target... I've actually seen the same products here at times. Prices are on the lower side which makes shopping here less stressful, when it's easy to fill ip your cart... ha! For example, an 8x10 rug is usually $800+ but here you can walk out with one for $299. You may find some broken items, but luckily there are usually so many of the same product that you can find another one. From lamps to bar stools to candles to drawer organizers to patio furniture to holiday decor... this home store literally has it all. It may not always be the best quality, but you will definitely find something here if you can't find it elsewhere. read more

Love this place! Prices are great and they HAVE Everything! Everything! You can bet you will fall in love with something here and hard to Walk out with out buying something! We purchased several bar stools beautiful Bar Stools for our new home in Cypress that were just what we wanted! Employees are scarce. They are around but dont really plan on anyone asking you if you need help! or Greeting you here. Seems they dont keep many smiling faces around. Its ok because you will be too busy looking! When did Garden Ridge Pottery change to just Garden Ridge? I went to Garden Ridge Pottery years ago looking for arts and crafts. I thought they'd have a huge selection since the store was huge. My first thought of Garden Ridge Pottery? Excellent place to find wicker baskets! After the wicker baskets galore experience I concluded that Texas Art Supply (arts) and Michael's (crafts) had better selections. Never went back. A week ago I checked my mail. While thumbing through (and trashing) all the junk mail, I stumbled upon an ad for a "blow out sale" at Garden Ridge (sans Pottery). My first thought looking at this ad? Where are all the wicker baskets? More importantly I saw an ottoman, table, and chairs for sale. The selection looked decent. But we all know what you see in ads are deceiving. You're never able to find what you see in the ad in the store or if you do see it, the quality is horrible. But I figured, what could it hurt? They were advertising a 5 piece dinette set for $150. I'll check it out. It couldn't be any worse than Ikea particle board or plastic at a fantastic deal of $49.... for just 1 piece of a 5 piece set. And besides... I need small wicker baskets to hold cotton balls and Q-tips in my bathroom. So I went. They still had wicker baskets but the selection was a lot smaller. They had artwork but it was the type of artwork you see in a doctor's office. They had a huge selection of faux trees and faux flowers for those who just don't want to deal with the real thing. They had comforters. Pass. And of course they had Christmas, Christmas, and more Christmas decorations. I'll wait until December 26th when they're on sale at 75% off. They also have rude employees at the check out. But what store doesn't have rude employees? And before I forget... if you're looking for an arts and crafts store that has the materials to put together a homecoming mum... it's not here. The ottoman, table, and chairs... it was there, plenty in stock, and you know what? I liked it. I bought it. It's not the fanciest or the best quality furniture but it's definitely not particle board or plastic. But it works. You do have to put together the table and chairs. The box it comes in? Huge and heavy so bring a truck. The ottoman serves 3 functions: ottoman, storage compartment, and tray (flip the lid over). That'll work too. So good riddance to Garden Ridge Pottery. This store is a decorators dream... They have everything you need from outdoor patio furniture, gardening decorations...to indoor furniture, wall art, basically anything you would ever need to fill your home. Now here's where it's too good to be true. I feel like the quality of products here are poor, especially for the prices. I wouldn't per say furnish my whole house here , but I would go here for filler decorations. I recently went looking for a mirror I left empty handed because I thought they were over priced went over to Marshall's found pretty much same thing cheaper. So it's truly hit or miss. When it comes to holiday decorations especially Christmas it's a score. Beware the lines get long! Beware, they have signs saying tags with red lines are 50% off. But, after you search picking the perfect red line item for your home, they wont give you the discount if it doesn't automatically show @ the register! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! NOT PRICED AS MARKED! The absolute, WORST customer service you will ever receive. Ever. I actually went to the new location in Humble. There was a table for sale. It's handle was broken. I needed to purchase it because I needed a set. The other that matched, was fine. The manager did not offer anything at all as far as fixing it, a discount, nothing. I ended up buying almost $400 worth of items from the store that day. I got home, and a huge picture I purchased from them, I also discovered, was also broken!!! I then called them, (I had to loom up the stores number on the Internet because number is not listed on receipt) and they do NOT take phone calls!!!! They only respond to customers via email!!!! I will NEVER again shop at this store. Their stuff is JUNK. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. Anyone reading this, save your time and money, shop elsewhere. I don't really like their selection. The best thing about this store is the mirrors and wall decor. Literally went in there today and the woman at the register answered her personal cell phone while ringing me up. So unprofessional it's ridiculous. I'll be shopping at homegoods from now on. Tonia the Cashier at the time was ringing me up with an attitude. Mind you before I went up to the register she rolled her eyes when I was next. She was aggravated, and rude where she never wrapped all my glass items! She never greeted me and my family. After the transaction she rudely gave me my receipt and said "BYE" and rolled her eyes, after she did that an employee of hers , Long weave black girl with a hat walked in front of us laughed, and rolled her eyes at me when she was leaving the store. By the time I was back to my vehicle a random cart was smashed into my vehicle! There was no cart there at first when I parked.... what a coincidence that happened! This shows that the new employee will do whatever it takes to scare there customers away! Im not leaving my favorite store because of 2 horrible employees! We went on 4th of July late afternoon. Just a couple of folks doing some serious shopping as their carts were full. You can always find something you want but didn't know you needed. We went looking for artificial flowering bushes but their selection was sadly lacking. (Ended up at Hobby Lobby) however we did find some other great things. Just bought a home and needed to furnish bedrooms. Went into this place, and was pleasantly surprised. Granted, there a lot of cheesy things in terms of decor here...but also a lot of useful and nice pieces as well. Ended up furnishing all bedrooms from GR (minus mattresses, those things hurt). Even got some cool (slightly overpriced because of overall quality) accent chairs. If you're someone who likes to interior design, this is the place....not ikea. It inspired me to get creative and bring my new home to life. Didn't give 5 stars because of checkout method (I get it though, because I've been in retail management for years and years). And there aren't associates on the floor to assist....I also understand that payroll is used to stock this massive warehouse and to transition from season to season...still. read more

I went to Garden Ridge Willowbrook and intended to buy scrubs and some furniture. I wanted to keep the hangers (cheap, cheap hangers). The cashier told me I couldn't keep them; she was unpleasant and unfriendly, so I asked to talk to the manager. His name was Charles. At my biggest surprise the manager himself told me that the store couldn't give hangers; that it was against their policy (??). This is the first time that I see a store refusing to give a customer cheap hangers with the clothes they are buying!!!!!!! I told them they would lose the sale but they didn't care! Unbelievable!!! With this economy, it must be nice to be able to refuse sales !!! What a way of treating customers!! I used to love Garden Ridge. They had so many different things and the quality was very good. They have changed what they sell for the most part. They do still have some pottery and some baskets and some artificial flowers but the quality has changed. The silk flowers used to be gorgeous. Now they look like dollar store plants. There are very few craft items and home goods are cheap looking. They had some very junkie looking clothes where they used to have really neat items for the home. I shop at the Sugar Land store. I don't know if it is just this store or if it is all of the stores. I keep going back, hoping that it has gone back to the old store. I also agree about the employees. I asked about something and the guy said, I don't know, not, let me check for you or let me ask someone. Horrible customer service. They all acted like they didn't want to be there. HUGE store with few employees. Find yourself walking around the store for an hour looking at overpriced items and see no employees what so ever. The people who do work here are extremely rude and unhelpful. I bought a 3 pc dinette set yesterday and when I got it home there was only 1 chair instead of 2. I decided I would call and ask if I could just come get another chair instead of having to return the whole thing. (It was a chore to get it in the house, now I have to pack it back up and get help loading it back into my truck) Well, when you call the number you get a voice mail to email them. REALLY???? The merchandise in the store seems so low end now. It used to carry a wide variety or price points, now it seems to carry low end products. If they would start carrying items that will last longer than one season, I would be willing to pay more. Go back to like you were five or six years ago. You had such variety and options. This Garden Ridge has definitely gone downhill. During my most recent visit I was looking for pictures for my bathroom. They have a lot of pictures but they are all piled up and packed in so tight, making it impossible to look at them. I have never seen pictures displayed so poorly anywhere! I also purchased an outdoor ceramic item, and when I got it out to my car, I realized it was damaged. I brought it back into the store and told the cashier I wanted to exchange it for another one. When I went back to the shelf where they were located, I found that the other two that were within my reach were damaged even worse. Three more where there, but about ten feet up. Of course no one was around to help get one down so I had to settle for the one I had originally purchased. The cashier was not very helpful at all. read more

O.K. my husband and I went here looking for a simple chair. We had a wonderful sales guy that helped us look at every chair in the store. We got ready to leave and encountered the rudest check out girl on Earth. We had chosen a small chair marked 99$...a great sales price. Upon checkout we were told that the sales ticket on the chair was wrong. She quickly peeled the sales sticker off and informed us the total was $150.00. After we questioned why she would pull off a sales sticker on a chair obviously marked with a slash of red and a sale price, we were pushed aside as a manager came to her defense and told us that this chair was not a sale item. I told them I wouldn't pay for it at regular price, and we left. We went down the road to The Room Store and treated very well. I didn't buy anything, but I didn't leave insulted either. The people at Garden Ridge acted as if my husband and I were trying to pull some great scam on them. It was rediculous and insulting to be treated by a girl that gets paid minimum wage to check my bought items. No Thanks. read more
