I've only ever had 3 massages in my life. The best and the worst came from this company. Last year, I had Connie who was so incredible and helpful to my situation. I work a very physically demanding job and she really provided attentive, above and beyond care when I needed it most. Truly, I can't say enough good things! This year, it was very different. Connie isn't there or wasn't available. My massage therapist was kind but wasn't helpful. It felt like my knots were agitated and then I was sent on my way. I paid for hot stones, but didn't get them until late in the massage for a short amount of time after I asked about it. Normally, that seems like a good opener to get the muscles relaxed, especially for deep tissue! There were a couple moments where I thought to myself "what is even happening?" It has been a couple months now and my agitated knots feel awful. I can't afford massages all the time, it's kind of a once a year treat. Wanting to be considerate and not risk getting anyone else sick, I called to reschedule, but they told me they couldn't accommodate me without a doctor's note.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This would have cost me over $100 just to get a note--completely unnecessary for something like a mild cold. I had an appt that was secured with a deposit. I was very excited to relax before the weekend. My child became sick and could not go to school. Therefore, I could not cancel within the 24-hour time frame. I called with the expectation to lose my deposit. However, I was asked to bring a Dr's not for proof. It was later explained that "people lie to get out of massages, and that's why we need it" They then charged for the full amount and with the note I could get it as a credit. I had a 90 minute massage with the most amazing therapist, Angela. She was very mindful and thorough. She gave a massage like she would want to get. Let me begin by saying I have had countless spa services literally all over the world. I scheduled a 60 minute massage with JJ. I arrived early which is proper spa protocol and checked in. After a few minutes another massage therapist comes to get me and addresses me by the wrong name, first strike. She tells me JJ is running behind and she will take me back. When I get in the room, she asks me to tell her things I needed worked on and I thought this was odd. I asked why "she" was the one asking me these things instead of JJ who would be doing the massage? She said she would pass those things onto her. She told me I could go ahead and get undressed and lay on the table. I thought this was very odd so I'm going to be face down when JJ comes in and were going to have to meet and talk like this? This is just plain weird and I didn't like it but I did it. I laid there for a good 15 minutes at least, it was ten minutes past when my massage was about to start when JJ finally comes in the room! I have never ever had this happen before and again I have had countless massages. I thought this was highly unprofessional and I came very close to leaving had she not walked in when she did. I've lost count on how many strikes at this point. JJ did everything I asked and her technique is adequate, it wasn't bad, it wasn't great. This place is called At Peace Massage and is anything but. The staff stands in the hall and laughs and talks and doesn't even try to use quiet voices. At Peace is a bad name for this place. It's a very small place and it's not hard to hear what's going on when you're in a service room and this is the biggest NO for me. After every massage I've ever had I always walk out to see my masage therapist standing there sometimes with a glass of water and they always ask how I feel and escort me back to the front. When I walked out here, JJ was no where to be seen. All I saw was a group of employees standing in the hall laughing and talking and this is just plain wrong! I go to a spa to relax and I don't want to hear a group of people lingering in the hallways laughing and talking. Seems JJ is just to busy for her customers and for a new customer, this just really shouldn't happen. Overall I was not impressed with anything. The lack of professionalism by keeping guest waiting and not trying to provide the peaceful atmosphere their name implies. In business you get one chance to get a repeat customer, and this time they failed. Too many strikes and I'm out. read more

This massage and spa is a new location - I had a 90 min massage here and it honestly is the best therapeutic massage I've ever had (I have a neck and back injury) plus am on my computer a lot so that creates even more problems. The owner is who performed my massage and she is very knowledgeable about tendons, muscles, and nerves. And what she did made a major difference from when I walked in. JJ did a wonderful job! Very friendly and knowledgeable, as I had a strain that would cause nerve issues in my arm. I went in to get a massage to try to relieve some stressful tension. She knew what to do and I believe she fixed it in one visit, after three months of agony and doing acupuncture and physical therapy. JJ has been my preferred massage therapist for a few years now. Each time I arrive she's smiling while warmly welcoming me. We shake hands and she asks how i'm doing -- what's hurting, how am I feeling, what do we need to work on. That last part is key, as several times she will give me "homework" to do; such as stretches. JJ wants her customers to have increased range of motion, to not hurt as much, to slowly either make things better or manageable. Typically I'm booked for a ninety minute deep tissue massage. That is the best. There are those times when the schedule won't allow more and we'll downsize to the sixty minute, which really is so very helpful. This place is incredibly clean, relaxing and inviting. Gigi was my therapist today and I came in with a lot of shoulder and neck pain, even a tension headache. I've experienced the swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and a thai massage by JJ and each one was superb. JJ also provides advice on stretching and proactive activities to prevent injury. I was desperate & I couldn't get into a chiropractor & the massage lady I normally see was booked so needless to say I was ecstatic when I was able to get an appointment on such late notice. The place was nice & clean & JJ was very friend, she is also very STRONG! I don't like paying $$$ to feel like I'm getting suntan lotion put on, she found pressure points I didn't know I had, I even asked for less pressure.
