I returned here for 2 reasons. First, I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and found the place to be really cool. A gorgeous bar counter surrounded by artwork, graffiti, quirky objects, all types of memorabilia, pinball machines, tv screens, a jukebox, even a Photo Booth! Good happy hour deals Monday through Friday until 7pm, plus the staff is friendly and helpful. Second, I was really enticed by their menu, which has most of the staples you'd expect to find in a bar, but also some with an interesting twist. I failed to eat on my first visit, so I came back hungry this time. We were served by Bianca and she couldn't have been more pleasant. We had the garlic truffle waffle fries and both the Famous Wallace cheeseburger and the 50/50 burger. Unfortunately, they were all disappointing. We showed up for lunch on a Saturday, and the place was mostly empty. Yet, the fries came barely warm, and both the cheeseburger and the 50/50 burger were mediocre at best: the buns were cold, the meat of low quality and chewy, too much mayonnaise. At the Wallace is one of my favorite neighborhood spots! My friends and I have been going there for years, especially for their Drag Race viewings and performances. Unfortunately, last night we had our first bad experience there and ended up moving across the street to Uptown Bourbon. We've never had any issues with the staff or service before, but the bartender on shift Cody was extremely rude. On multiple occasions, he shot us dirty looks, made snide comments, or just flat out ignored us as we tried to order with him. He also refused to take my food order and told me to move along to the kitchen window if I wanted something to eat, despite taking both of my friends' food orders prior to that. As I walked away, I overheard him telling the customers sitting at the bar that this was the "VIP section" and no one was allowed to come in and interfere. We closed out our tab shortly after that and left because we were all so thrown off by his attitude. Leaving 5 stars anyways because we really do love this spot and will definitely be back, but we'll be sure to avoid this particular bartender next time! read more

We came here last night for some snacks after the Honeywell. We had the queso and chips and a burger with BBQ sauce and crispy fried onions. The burger tasted great. The queso was flavorful and the chips great for snacking. The drinks were were a great value! The frozen margarita was good but my old fashioned was a bit sweet. The vibe here is so fun! We sat at the bar. Nice to see all the kitchy things they have, like the leg lamp from A Christmas story. At the back are pinball machines, arcades and Giant Jenga and connect 4. This place is fckn awesome man! They have a selection of beers to choose from! They have your standard mixed drinks and few combos (beer and shot) but, it gets the job done! Make sure to have your ID out before entering, security doesn't play with that! Bartenders are friendly but, if they are super busy, you may have to wait to be attended to but, they don't ignore you. The music is great and you can request a song as long as you ask nicely! The food here is great! A tid bit small but, its flavorful regardless! My favorite from this spot? I arrived at this establishment with my two girlfriends after having a very disappointing experience at one of the establishments located in the basement....directly under this building. We arrived on a Friday night around 8:45pm and the place was packed wall to wall.....the atmosphere is very divey......just like the waitstaff the patrons were very laid back. Since there was not available seating for my friends and I we installed ourselves at the bar...right where you are only supposed to pick up drinks and keep it moving. However the bartender was very accommodating.....she let us chill there for a while.....we ordered the Absolute Lemonade....and it was absolutely amazing and needed after a long day. The bartender poured our drinks in front of us and she did not skimp out on the liquor. After awhile the bartender noticed a free spot in the "bleecher" section and my party and I went to be seated and waited for our food to come out. We ordered wings and waffle fries with an assortment of dipping sauces.....the wings are a nice organic sized split in half. They were fried to perfection and evenly coated in wing sauce.....the dipping sauces made the fries that much better....we even ordered another basket of fries...I recommend everyone try the Jalapeño Aioli dipping sauce. So a few things to know .....the bathrooms are located to in the very back are unisex and plagued in a graffiti decor.....they are environmental friendly and they do not have plastic straws....however they have metal ones they sell you for a dollar and are yours to keep.....you must order your food at the bar and you will be given a number to sit on your table and it will be taken out to you...they have huge sport water coolers and small colorful kid like plastic cups around bar ...were patrons serve theirselves water. For a great night out for 3 ladies....a double order of wings and fries.....2 rounds of drinks plus shots...our tab was ONLY $80.73 before tipping....you cant beat that... Oh I forgot to mention.....they have a super cool photobooth in the front corner...shout out to the kick ass bartender Bianca.....hands down the BEST....great personality....and the only sucky part about this spot was the bouncer outside who cards you..he was a little rude because we had to dig our ID out our purse and did not have in hand already...he was a hideous rendition of the Westly Snips character Blade...who held a resting bitxh face and spoke like robo cop....but his blue/grey eye contacts made it even harder to take him seriously... Very rude and unprofessional service at the bar for food pick up. The bartender was rude and sarcastic to my husband and refused to give him the food we had place for pick up. We ordered semi regularly and go in person since we live in the neighborhood, this interaction however left a terrible impression. We were seated at the bar, literally with a high table and two stools right at the bar which was perfect. We both ordered popcorn shrimp with waffle fries which was sooo good! Went to Harlem public next door but realized they're now letting you order from both restaurants. The menu looked better here so we ordered majority of the food from at the Wallace. The food was ready fairly quick. We got the cheesesteak which was great and flavorful but lacking with the amount of meat they put in it. At some point you're just eating bread. We also ordered the cheese curds but there was no cheese pull and they weren't hot which made them just ok. We got a corn dog which was nice and flavorful. Also the truffle waffle fries with egg which were delightful. The sauces were also a must, you need them for basically everything. read more

The drinks are pretty good too- they had asked the bartender to give us whatever drinks he thought were good and it was fun to not know what you were getting. The treatment I got as a military veteran was so disrespectful and unwarranted!!!! Please tell your arrogant security guard to humble himself and get better customer service! I came Friday evening to meet a friend and security was sitting eating wings I didn't even know he was checking IDs. His demeanor was mean and aggressive asking for my Id. He didn't accept my ID on my phone so I give him my military ID which my info is on the back. He grabs it asking what's this? I said my military ID sir. As he throws my ID on the table he rolls his eyes and says what do you want me to do with this? Not taking a look at my ID as he shrugs his shoulders! I was appalled and so offended! In all my years of going to Harlem Public, I never thought I'd actually give At The Wallace a chance. But I'm glad I did. A big group of us came here after Sunday's marathon. Place was really dark and full of a not-so-nice crowd so we decided to avoid that and sit outside (side note: it's a Brown's sport bar in the middle of Harlem, should have known the type of clientele). Anywho, we all ordered food and drinks at the bar and things were promptly delivered outside. We played some games while we waited, Cards Against Humanity, Jenga, the usual . We ordered the leaning tower grilled cheese, another but with bacon, and the truffle fries. Can I just say I could probably eat 10 of those grilled cheeses if my stomach would allow! The exterior is super crunchy and the inside full of melted cheesy goodness. They use a couple different types of cheese which make for a good contrast of sharp, rich, creamy and overall delicious. The truffle fries were also very good - crispy waffle fries with a fried egg on top. I'm not the biggest fan of egg yolk on things so I would have preferred without but I may be in the minority. Their beer selection is also pretty good and their bartenders were nice and very fast at getting orders in. Closer to a 2.5 than a 3 but after only 4 visits I like to give benefit of the doubt, especially when the bartender clearly favors the regulars. Kind of off putting when the guy next to you orders the same wine but his glass is filled twice as high as yours.... The food satisfies all your cravings- if youre craving yummy, fried, cheesey and greasy food. They allow NO SUBSTITUTIONS due to their small kitchen so if you have *food allergies*, beware. I dig the historic building, retro photo booth, art filled bathrooms and large variety of beers and ciders available. I don't love often having to wait 20+ minutes for an uncleaned table, or opting to brave the moody, moody bartender. Also, cornhole competitions on every tv in the place was so off putting, everyone was talking about it lol But you can pretty much bank on seeing a cute dog outside every time you go.
