I can't understand how is it that the same person owns this place an At The Wallace and give the customer such different experiences. I have been treated very poorly at this place in the past, however the people of At The Wallace told me to go back because servers have been changed and Chad had improved the overall experience. Since I care about the folks at At the Wallace, I decided to give them a chance. The first thing was that the waiter, an apathetic hipster, changed my seat because I was seated in a table for four people, nothing outrageous or out of the ordinary, but then I see him separating the table to allow a couple to sit there. Which made me wonder why I didn't get that treatment, but whatever. I order a medium Spicetown USA burger and a Seltzer. A different waitress brings me the seltzer and basically drops it on the table spilling some of the drink on the table. She didn't apologize for the abrupt gesture, she just turned around and went back to another table. After waiting for 30 minutes for the burger, I call another waitress (this one was friendly at least) and ask the delay, turns out the original waiter didn't even put the order. She talks to him and apologized to me. The burger comes over, but well done, instead of medium. After the two bite check up, I pointed out to the waiter who LITERALLY shrugs and goes to another table. Despite not being my desired temperature the burger and the fries were very delicious, so I will give them that. However, the service here is unforgivably bad. I don't understand why, At The Wallace is right next door, the servers and bartenders are super nice and it's also cheaper. I don't think I will go back to this place again. read more

The BEST sweet potato fries I've EVER had. I don't think I've ever had sweet potato fries as good as what was served to me when I visited this place. It was so good, I got a second order of just fries. I got the regular chicken sandwich and my friend ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich. It was silent when our food came out we couldn't stop stuffing our faces. I also love that they had a decent amount of mocktails on the menu. Actual mocktails with cute names, not the regular virgin daiquiris that lack originality and just omits the alcohol. The restaurant had a cute fireplace in the corner that was lit, which created a cute atmosphere for the holiday season. Would definitely go again. read more

We were in the city for vacation and decided to try out this place based on some killer photos. I tried the pop rock margarita - it was so good. And they made the ice out of juice because they're genius! I tried the Parmesan crusted burger and it was perfection. Cooked perfect, great toppings, excellent fries. I ordered takeout and had my son pick it up. I was in the mood for a salad and my son recommended this place for their Public Salad, which features fried avocado. Admittedly, it's not that expensive ($17) but it isn't packed with much. I counted 3 half moon shaped cucumbers and a lot of mixed greens. My sone had a BYO Beef Burger. They have other options that might make this a great place for your vegetarian and vegan friends. The fries were not that great and we ended up throwing most of it away. What was most off putting though was I ordered with Grubhub and when my son went to pick it up, he said, "it's either under G___ or L____ as the name." They quickly responded, "No order was placed. It's not here." And were veeerrrry dismissive of him. He had a screen shot of the grub hub order, which they refused to look at. They had zero interest in trying to clear the confusion up. Finally, my son told me to call them because they weren't trying to be helpful. But when I called, the voice message says you have to email them with any order issues. I called my son back, and he had solved it after insisting they look for his name. The two people behind the desk gave no apology - no "my bad." Instead they blamed him, saying it was his fault because he gave two names and they searched for only the first name. It was so cold outside and they were so rude when all you want to do is pick up your food and get back home. The food was meh to say the least but their dismissive attitude sealed it for me. I came a week ago for brunch and it was amazing. We had the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork and my main entree was the chicken sandwich. I had a frozen hurricane and a pop rock margarita. Our waitress Alyssa, was amazing. Lately I have been going out to eat and the service has been below average. I was happy to get good service and great food. When we got there it was empty but as the time went on more people came. Alyssa still kept the great service she would check in on us and had the food coming. The food was also quite delicious and the macaroni and cheese was really good. It was a creamy macaroni and cheese not a baked macaroni and cheese. The pulled pork definitely helped to add flavor to it. My sandwich the chicken sandwich was really good it was flavorful, juicy and crispy. The chicken sandwich had a good chicken to bread ratio and everything stayed inside and was a well put together sandwich. I could taste the maple in the chicken which was quite shocking to me. My only suggestion would be to add a maple sriracha sauce or something like that. The place is wooden inside and a very casual family friendly place. I love this place and definitely recommend it. Our waitress who was working alone juggling multiple tables was quick and efficient. The menu offers an array of appetizers and a large burger selection with catchy names like the Jive turkey burger, spicetown USA and wake and bake, that come with either traditional fries, sweet potato fries or tater tots. If you have a taste for something different there's pulled pork, chicken thighs or Harlem public spin on a BLT may interest you (it includes crispy fried chicken). The cauliflower didn't have much flavor, but came with a tangy chipotle dipping sauce. I enjoyed them but they would've been better if fully tossed in a sauce. The mac and steez was great. This bar is right up my alley. Give me drinks and real food and I can stay there all day. We came pretty late in the evening so the crowd was winding down for the night. But that's fine because we got a table right away. The server was very nice and the service was fast I was mostly stoked that they had a frozen drinks machine. They have some seasonal drinks but you can always get a frozen margarita. I think the next time I'd like to do it in reverse. Come here to eat and pre-game and end the night somewhere else. Or come earlier and spend the whole day camped out at the bar like a wino. If I lived in the area this could easily become my neighborhood bar. read more

If I make the trip up to this neighborhood to brunch with friends, I feel like chicken & waffle is a must. And theirs does not disappoint! Also, lots of outdoor seating for fresh air and fun people watching. Though it's worth noting that they don't serve coffee, which is very odd for a restaurant in the brunch game. Chicken & Waffles w/ Sausage Gravy: The chicken was just perfect. Dark meat nicely breaded and fried. It was boneless, so much easier to eat with the waffles. The waffles themselves seemed like the liège variety, where they were smaller and encrusted with sugar. While I normally like this crispy waffle, it was a bit sugar overload alongside the maple syrup, so maybe the traditional big fluffy waffle would have been better. Meanwhile, I was initially hesitant to get the sausage gravy, but decided to give it a try when offered as a side. It was excellent to dip the chicken in. So much flavor and nice large sausage granules. I still wouldn't want this poured over everything, but great to dip into at your own pace. read more

Love Harlem Public. One of my go to casual spots Uptown when I feel like going out but not out out. I used to love their wedge salad. They need to bring that back. The wings are great. He had the whole floor but you could barely tell. He moved with grace and did it all with a big smile. ( big reason I'm coming back ) I was super indecisive but he was very knowledgeable about everything on that menu including drinks. I ended up with Chris first suggestion, Spicetown, USA. Whoa! What an insane burger. I usually don't order burgers when I eat out, but I was in a mood. Juicy cooked to a perfect medium. Very cute place with unique cocktails and friendly staff! We came here for dinner on Saturday night and Harlem Public absolutely exceeded my expectations. For drinks I got the BK to Harlem cocktail (super refreshing and you can REALLY taste the lavender) and my friend got the Twizzler Lemonade (which you would think may be overwhelmingly sweet, but it really wasn't!). Both of us ended up getting second rounds, we liked them so much. I also ordered the Mac and Steez with chicken, which looks small but it's incredibly filling! I probably wouldn't get it with chicken next time, but still really good. My friends also ordered the Chicken and Waffles (delicious!) and 8 Everything Bagel wings (I've never seen this before).
