    Pop rock margarita
    Megan H.

We were in the city for vacation and decided to try out this place based on some killer photos. I tried the pop rock margarita - it was so good. And they made the ice out of juice because they're genius! I tried the Parmesan crusted burger and it was perfection. Cooked perfect, great toppings, excellent fries. Our waiter Sean was a delight and was so helpful whenever we asked questions. The place is small but cute - we ended up sitting outside it was a bit chilly but not terrible. Highly recommend if you're in the area

    The Public Salad (Takeout)

I ordered takeout and had my son pick it up. I was in the mood for a salad and my son recommended this place for their Public Salad, which features fried avocado. Admittedly, it's not that expensive ($17) but it isn't packed with much. I counted 3 half moon shaped cucumbers and a lot of mixed greens. My sone had a BYO Beef Burger. They have other options that might make this a great place for your vegetarian and vegan friends. The fries were not that great and we ended up throwing most of it away. What was most off putting though was I ordered with Grubhub and when my son went to pick it up, he said, "it's either under G___ or L____ as the name." They quickly responded, "No order was placed. It's not here." And were veeerrrry dismissive of him. He had a screen shot of the grub hub order, which they refused to look at. They had zero interest in trying to clear the confusion up. Finally, my son told me to call them because they weren't trying to be helpful. But when I called, the voice message says you have to email them with any order issues. I called my son back, and he had solved it after insisting they look for his name. The two people behind the desk gave no apology - no "my bad." Instead they blamed him, saying it was his fault because he gave two names and they searched for only the first name. It was so cold outside and they were so rude when all you want to do is pick up your food and get back home. The food was meh to say the least but their dismissive attitude sealed it for me. I won't be returning.

Alyssa, you are amazing!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience you add so much to our experience. The food was great, loved the wings, pickle fries, avocado fries and our burgers. My winter cider beer was fire! We will keep returning. Thanks guys!

I came a week ago for brunch and it was amazing. We had the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork and my main entree was the chicken sandwich. I had a frozen hurricane and a pop rock margarita. Our waitress Alyssa, was amazing. Lately I have been going out to eat and the service has been below average. I was happy to get good service and great food. When we got there it was empty but as the time went on more people came. Alyssa still kept the great service she would check in on us and had the food coming. The food was also quite delicious and the macaroni and cheese was really good. It was a creamy macaroni and cheese not a baked macaroni and cheese. The pulled pork definitely helped to add flavor to it. My sandwich the chicken sandwich was really good it was flavorful, juicy and crispy. The chicken sandwich had a good chicken to bread ratio and everything stayed inside and was a well put together sandwich. I could taste the maple in the chicken which was quite shocking to me. My only suggestion would be to add a maple sriracha sauce or something like that. The place is wooden inside and a very casual family friendly place. I love this place and definitely recommend it. I am glad they have stayed consistent with their food.

Me and the visited this cozy restaurant for lunch and was delighted with the preparation of our meal. A lot of times you order burgers or steak from a restaurant with the request of a specific temperature for your protein and it rarely meets your expectations. Our protein was cooked to perfection. The service was great and food delicious.

Great vibes! Really great beer selection! Great service! Great food! All members of party were very happy with the wings and mozzarella sticks! I had the spicy chicken thigh sandwich, I can't wait to return to try it again. The chicken was juicy, the hot sauce was full of flavor and plentiful. The slaw and pickles were perfect and enhanced the flavor of the sandwich and the warm perfectly toasted bread sealed the deal. You have a choice of fries, taters or sweet potato fies or a side salad. I went with fries. They were good, crisp outside and soft inside. They have a beer company of the month. I had the juice jolt and they had happy hour until 7. I had another IPA. My friends had the strawberry lemonade and they were enjoying it. The ambiance is chill. Great bar atmosphere! Our customer service provider was Camille and she was AWESOME! She was patient, quick, helpful and kind! I can't wait to go back!

Great service, delicious food. Came here on a Friday afternoon and stayed for a good amount of time and never felt rushed or hurried. I have to say how nice the customer service was- very attentive and kind! I took a star off because food was tasty but I just thought a little pricey for the portion. But hey, it's NYC so maybe I shouldn't complain? $20 for a veggie melt and side salad. They also did not serve coffee. But they said we COULD go a few doors down to a certain coffee shop and bring it in. We were just already settled in by then....and it was too cold for us to justify going out there again haha!

"Close your eyes and choose" No wonder this spot is one of the highest reviewed and highest rated spots in Harlem. You can literally close your eyes and choose from the menu & it will be one of the best things you've eaten. The beers are seasonal & frustrating because once the season changes you can't find it again 5Stars for sure

Daddy Mac in the background and the build your own burger in the front

Don't always overlook a completely understated entrance to a restaurant. Looks like a dive bar inside but still not dismayed it's worth the visit. Seats circling the bar with several tables throughout the dark wood accented interior. Scan the QR code to access the menu. Our waitress who was working alone juggling multiple tables was quick and efficient. The menu offers an array of appetizers and a large burger selection with catchy names like the Jive turkey burger, spicetown USA and wake and bake, that come with either traditional fries, sweet potato fries or tater tots. If you have a taste for something different there's pulled pork, chicken thighs or Harlem public spin on a BLT may interest you (it includes crispy fried chicken). We ordered the Daddy Mac burger and the build your own burger which was bought quickly and piping hot. My build your own was a well done burger it was juicy and spiced perfectly. One party ordered the Purple Rain cocktail which is Vodka, Lavender Simple, Fresh Lemon poured over ice.

    Fried Cauliflower
    Maggie B.

This restaurant has a large menu with lots of creative, tempting options. I ordered delivery. The fried cauliflower were super crispy. The cauliflower didn't have much flavor, but came with a tangy chipotle dipping sauce. I enjoyed them but they would've been better if fully tossed in a sauce. The mac and steez was great. They use shell pasta and top it with crunchy, flavorful breadcrumbs. It was very creamy and the mac was a good, firm texture. Looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future! They also have to-go cocktails for delivery which could be fun to try.

Came from a nearby hospital but didn't want to hang out so near there so walked here for 10 minutes to have lunch. Perfect neighborhood spot with plenty of outdoor seating decorated with flowers. Came for early lunch so we didnt order any drinks. Our server was very nice & patient. we didn't feel rushed at all the whole time we were there. We ordered wings & salad. Wings was good, crispy & well flavored. The salad was okey but kind of small for the price. Caesar salad is just romaine, dressing & cheese. doesn't even have crotons. a few more leaves won't hurt. My friends spring salad was better. She gave me a piece of her fried avocado that came with it & it was good. i think her salad is better than mine. Note to self to order that next time. fyi, tip options for this spot is 20-25%. I like the relax vibe of this place. I'm planning to come back one summer afternoon for a drink.

Ask the Community - Harlem Public

How does the Yelp waitlist work?

Hi Charles. We no longer use Yelp waitlist. We’re typically a walkins only style spot but I understand tonight will be a little different. If you’d like to email us closer to…

How long does it usually take to deliver burgers and is it possible to choose a specific delivery time?

All depends on how busy we are. We do not take orders for specific times in the future. We also shut down all delivery when we are too busy. Generally this is Friday and Saturday evenings. You should come in and eat in house! The food’s better haha!

    Can you bring your dog?

Yep! Doggies are welcome on our outdoor patios! Inside is a no go though.

Are they requiring vaccine cards yet?

Hi, not as right this moment. We are still waiting to hear back with answers to our questions about the guidelines. We are just requiring guest to have their masks.

    How do the reservations work?

You can add yourself to our waitlist (if there is one) after 4pm through Yelp. Just search us up and add yourself from anywhere. It is updated with our current wait times.

    Do you have hookah?

    No hookah.

Is there indoor dining available now ? I tried calling but to no avail.

There is no indoor dining yet, but there is plenty of outdoor seating.

Do you take reservations for outside seating? And how many customers/parties are allowed to sit in the outside area at the same time?

We do not currently take reservations. All tables are first come, first served. We have around 12 tables outside. Everything is spaced 6 feet apart and no more than 4 people are allowed to be seated at a single table. Hope this helps!

    Is the patio heated?

Yes, our patio has 4 electric heaters. Hope this helps!

Does this restaurant take reservations for brunch?

This restaurant does not take reservations for brunch.

    What's parking like?

    People drive in NYC?

Can I order from the regular cocktail menu during brunch hours?

    Yes you can.

    Are there gluten free options?

    Yes

Will delivery be an option any time soon?

Does anyone know what time happy hour is and what the menu is like for happy hour?

What time do you serve food until?

That question was already answered 12 on weekdays 1 on weekends

Is this good for happy hour? What kind of specials?

Hip hop and R&B at night, from my experience. Can't speak to daytime.

    Are dogs allowed inside?

Service animals are allowed. Otherwise, no. We do allow them on our patio though!

Do you guys have any specials on Sundays?

We serve our brunch menu from 11am-3pm. Dinner menu starts at 4pm. Menus can be found on our website.…

I know I see its "not good for kids" but has anyone really gone here with their kid? I want to eat at this place but want to know why its not kid friendly, is it because of the alcoholic beverages, the setting of the restaurant or the menu?

The seating is not kid friendly, a lot of stools, and while there is a booth against the wall it is set to the height of the stools and would be too high for a small child. Also it's very cramped, not much space for adults, not sure where you would…

Being the budget friendly place it is makes it easier to spend a little more time and money there and come back to visit again. Maybe because I'm a recognizable regular I have had good experiences with the security/bouncers, always greeted with a dap and standard pat down and still explained the rules (no pictures and no touching the women). One time I had a small situation with a drunk guy sitting next to me at the bar who was getting slightly disrespectful and annoying, I told the bouncer what was going on and he got me over to the nicer private corner and handled the guy. This was a bubbly, refreshing drink that was strong in Coconut and Lime. I had the Fried Calzone with sausage, tomato, mozzarella, and pecorino as the appetizer. This was 2 huge beautifully made Calzones, however there was barely any sausage. It was full of thick, melty cheese and well seasoned tomato sauce. The outer shell was wonderfully crispy. I just really expected and wanted to taste Sausage, so I was disappointed. I tried my friend's Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and I'm usually not that impressed by chicken, but I enjoyed this. The Fried Chicken was satisfyingly crunchy, tender, and flavorful. My entree was The Garrison Burger, which was a beef burger with raclette, confit onions, burger sauce, gem lettuce, and french fries. This was just okay. The meat was cooked well, but a little on the bland and dry side. The cheese with onion and sauce was a nice addition. Fries were thick, delightfully crispy with great potato taste. Dessert was Bread Pudding with sour cherries and buttermilk caramel. This was not a traditional Bread Pudding for me, but I did enjoy the rich, creamy caramel, as well as the cherries, which are my favorite fruit! I found the Bread Pudding itself to be thick, dense, and sweet from the caramel sauce. Service was pretty good. I wasn't that impressed by the food, but next time I would like to try the Piggyback Dates appetizer made out of dates wrapped in bacon with cheese inside.
