This is how slow it was and she still refused to serve us after 30 minutes

El Jefe has been a Dyckman staple for a very long time. I seldom come here as they like to have cover charges, but today I decided to make en exception and came to have one drink and leave as I only had about an hour to spend and wanted to just enjoy a bit of music. I ate here once before and the food was okay, what you can expect at a bar. However, the service usually is okay and not terrible. Today, I had a terrible experience. We walked into a bar that was mostly empty. I have bartended for 10 years in hottest NYC night clubs like Tao, PHD, and 230 5th rooftop to name a few, and this place was dead. However, I just wanted one drink and to go on with my night. I was at the end of the bar with my cousin, she tried to get the bartender's attention and failed. After 15 min, I decided to try. I ordered drinks with her twice, 2 don julio reposado with Red Bull. Something that takes less than a minute to do. I then watched for another 20 min how she took other people's orders and did them instantly while we were still waiting. The men that were next to us told her that they wanted to pay for our drinks and she ignored them as well and walked off. I then went to the other male bartender, Jurgen, and order my drinks with him while explaining that the girl had been ignoring us for a while. I attempt to take a picture of her to give a complaint to the manager as I didn't know her name, and she saw me and snatched my cell phone and told the security guard to kick us out. The male bartender said he was the manager and told the security guard to kick us out. I realized that this Indian guy seemed to be the manager and I stopped him and explained what was happening. He then allowed us to stay and gave us the drinks on the house. He was really nice and made my night better. To the El Jefe manager if you want to hire a REAL bartender with REAL NYC experience. That can make 10-15 mixed drinks in two minutes, and does not discriminate (because this is what it felt like, like she was just hating on how absolutely gorgeous we were and didn't want to serve us) against gender, beauty, race, etc and will get you really good Google reviews, fire her and hire me part time. And also, two drinks here cost $63 which is insane for uptown. Jurgen made sure to add automatic 20% after the bad service he provided :) I added photos to show how slow it was and she still ignored us for 30 minutes when we were just trying to pay for drinks. UNREAL!!!

    Bad bartender

Asked this girl for a simple drink and she barely knew what she was doing. She ignored me to go have fun with some guys that were in the VIP! Bad service whatever your name is! You suck girl!

Calls itself a sports bar. No baseball caps. No athletic apparel. No head gear. You do the math.

I have visited this place many times but after my last time visiting I must leave this review. As an awareness for everyone. On the last weekend prior to COVID taking over, 2nd week of March 2020, I decided to go visit this place to celebrate my 30th birthday with a large group of friends ; about 20 people. It was a great night and with day light savings happening, we lost an hour. During that night, we had a large bill; there were many bottles purchased. The police then crashed the place around 2:00AM , leaving us with one hour lost. I had just purchased 3 additional bottles. When Police came, I told them to refund me since the bottles were unopened. The manager insisted that I come back since he had no way to do a "refund". These are bottles paid including MANDATORY gratuity. I would say over $400 per bottle. Fast Forward..... Due to pandemic, everything was closed, places were limited. However on the night on November 6, 2020, I decided to pay a visit and ask for the bottles promised. With hope to receive what I paid for, I was DENIED by the owner. According to Manager, owner refused to give me what I PURCHASED. That night, I decided to stay and spend additional money on an establishment that did me wrong. Customers are always FIRST and the OWNER should be reaching out to me BECAUSE I was refused to RECEIVE what was PAID for by ME. I will reach out to the BANKS and file a CLAIM as messages have been recorded between establishment. Please UPGRADE your CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

I don't even know where to begin with this place but what I will start off with saying is I DO NOT RECOMMEND. So my sister set up a brunch to celebrate her birthday on Saturday April 30th. You have to make the reservation via WhatsApp which was done. Everything was set up and put into place a week before. We arrive here on Saturday April 30th for them to Let us know they have no Saturday brunch. The manager said I can only give you 15% off and If you go someone where I wish you luck. I'm that moment we should've went elsewhere but we decided to give them a chance. He claimed the "hostess" was old and out of the country. Not sure as to why she would be in charge of setting things up then. We could've at least been accommodated with some mimosas or something. We still ended up ordering and paying for 2 pitchers of miMosas and Patron margarita pitchers. We weren't offered any hookah or anything. We had to ask for everything. Now let's move on to the food. Two people ordered Churrasco steak medium rare with garlic mashed potatoes. They both came out well done and one came out with tostones. One of my friends were really hungry because the food took so long so she still ate the steak the other sent hers back and got the correct steak and mashed potatoes. Now someone else ordered shrimp Alfredo low and behold she gets a surprise in her Alfredo (A short piece of black hair). The manager has the nerve to come over and not believe us at first (luckily I took a photo and the waitress saw it) he then says after seeing the photo he has no women working in the kitchen, it could be anyones hair including the woman whose food it was. We were perplexed. One no one at the table had short black hair and it isn't just womens hair that comes out of Their heads. He claimed he would take the Alfredo off but didn't and just included that into a discount off on the bill. This place is very unprofessional and I would Not recommend. The waitress was the only pleasant one at this establishment! She had patience and was understanding. I don't know how that man is a manager but he should not be in the hospitality business at all. EAT THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Meet up with some friends here they were already situated with there drinks and food I just wanted one drink and a quick bite to eat then I was leaving the waitress wouldn't serve be separately from my friends she wanted one bill .I explained to her I was just going to be quick and that they would be staying but nope she refused So instead I decided to order 6 shots for everybody then I'd leave but nope the bartender doesn't take card and I had no cash on me ...what a waste of time I left..

So normally I come to El Jefe Sundays for drinks and hookah with friends. This time around I came on a weekday during their happy hour. We ordered the chicken tacos and buffalo wings. The chicken tacos were decent but the wings were very mediocre and not as spicy as they should. The sauce was interesting. The passion fruits frozen margarita was the best part of our stay though, and the staff is very nice and helpful.

    Ashley N.

Not welcoming or inclusive business. Very hostile and unfriendly. Strict set of rules made to filter out people. "No exposed jewelry" is on the list. Please take your business and spend money elsewhere, this business has a horrible ambiance and attitude.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

It clearly worked: they've since grown to nine locations around Manhattan, and this Times Square outpost took over a corner of the old New York Times building back in 2017. The no-seating, standing-room setup is baked into the concept itself, not just this location. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall.
