I'm not a fan of the STK located in Washington, DC, however, the San Juan iteration is so dope, I came here two days in a row.. Lol! The interior couldn't be more swanky. It seems like they put a little more "pop" into this one! South Beach is the one that rivals it. The first day, I came solo because I flew in a day before she did. When I mean the hostess and bar staff treated me like I was a star, I left out thinking I was Denzel.. Lol!! All high end restaurant managers need to fly to this STK and get taught a crash course on how to make folks come back. Because isn't that the secret sauce to restaurant success?!! I think so! My main bartender they called the "Godfather", made my Manhattans to perfection! My blackened Ribeye was sooo good I wanted to order one to go! The next day wasn't planned, but when we had to do a forced pivot move, I suggested we come back for the seafood tower, because they told me it would be too much food for one person. They were right. It was delicious but we did have a little bit to eat first which made us unable to completely finish that seafood masterpiece! I rarely leave reviews like this, but I want to share our experience for other families considering STK San Juan for a large dinner or special celebration. I planned a dinner for 19 family members for my father's 70th birthday, including senior family members and children. We also had guests with severe food allergies and different dietary needs. Because of this, I called STK before our trip to make sure our group could be accommodated. I spoke directly with a manager named Nicole and explained everything. We had several separate reservations and I asked if we could simply be seated near each other instead of doing the large group menu (pre selected) and minimum. I was told this would be fine and that the team would do their best to accommodate. When we arrived, that completely changed. The General Manager on duty, Josie, refused to honor what I had previously been told. We were told that if we wanted to be treated as one group, there would be a $150 per person minimum, with an exception for the children. What made this even more frustrating was that the restaurant was practically empty. There were plenty of open tables, including tables right around where our reservation of 12 was being seated. We were not asking for all 19 people to sit at one table. We simply wanted our other reservations seated nearby so our family could enjoy my dad's birthday dinner together. There was large area where this could be accommodated. They still refused. At that point, we decided to take our business elsewhere. I called Rare 125 Neighborhood Grill at the last minute and explained what happened. They welcomed all 19 of us, seated us together and treated our family wonderfully. No hassle. No unnecessary back and forth. Just great hospitality. My issue is not that STK has policies. My issue is that I did my due diligence as a customer should. I called ahead, explained our situation, spoke with a manager and received approval before bringing 19 people to the restaurant. We made our plans based on what STK management told us, only for that agreement not to be honored once we arrived. Josie even asked me for proof that Nicole the manager I spoke with approved this request. If you are planning a large family dinner, milestone birthday, multigenerational celebration, or have guests with different dietary needs, please keep our experience in mind. I would strongly recommend getting any special arrangements in writing. For families looking for this same type of accommodation, my advice based on our experience is simple: spend your dollars elsewhere. We were told not to come here by a friend who ate here recently. Didn't listen. Half the reviews on here were good, half were bad. So I was not sure it was going to be a good meal. I wanted a good steak and ordered the fillet. Sent it back. It has such an odd tasted old, bitter, seasoning was heavy and not good. My guys mushrooms were cold as was the broccolini. His ribeye was cooked and seasoned well. The server was great, manager handled it well. I've eaten at STK in Vegas when I lived there and was hoping it would be as great. My wife ordered the 6oz filet, which was cooked well and very tender. I had the New York strip and it was flavorful and exactly what you want from a steakhouse. We shared the tater tots and the creamed spinach. Both sides tasted good, though they were not very hot when they arrived. The atmosphere is definitely more nightclub than traditional steakhouse. It is very dark inside and there was a live DJ, which made it extremely loud. If you are looking for a quiet dinner or easy conversation, this probably is not the place. I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday @ STK San Juan. From the moment I walked in I was greeted at the door with a smile. The restaurant decor was beautiful and very picturesque . Even though it's a steakhouse I was able to enjoy a vegan dish . I ordered the Roasted Pumpkin it included a salad with fresh grains & also added for some razzle dazzle freshly shaved truffles .The Mac & cheese was good I loved the cheesyness of it . For entree my wife and I both order the salmon which came with broccolini, the corn pudding, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. The salmon came out incorrect and cold, almost two cold to eat but we still ate it. Xavier could tell something was wrong so when he asked we let him know our food was cold. At this point we didn't even want it fixed we just wanted to leave. At the end of the meal they let us know that they were making us new salmon to take home The manager and Xavier did a great job at fixing our problems but the male host ruined the night for us, rude unwelcoming and didn't show any hospitality. We were told the are full for the night with a hour left to spare and a party of 2 we asked about the bar but were told it was full even with 2 near by seats open just not together, no accommodations were suggested. We made a reservation for Sunday 6:30pm a very dead time upon arriving a younger male host and security were outside checking in guest and asked us to stay outside to wait for our name to be call with every seat at the bar open but 3 chairs. You think the host would suggest a pair to have a drink while we wait ($ lost). Our serve made up for a lot of the night with his excellent attentiveness and attention to detail.
