My tenants complained of bed bugs and I freaked out. I tried another pest control compnay but they wer very inflexible so in looking for another company I was referred to ATCO They were very helpful and professdional and did a great job . They shpwed up on time and had a very professional way of doing this unpleasant task. They even helped catch the tenant's cat which was so well hidden the tenant could not find it. They have a relationship with an outside contractor for inspection by a man and dog after treatment that was great also. The only thing if you live in a city to be careful about is that they told me they needed a parking place and I said I could save them one .. It turned out they had a large truck and generator and actually needed about 40 feet which I luckily was able to provide. Make sure you discuss this one issue with them and are on the same page. read more

I was referred to ATCO by a company that detects bedbugs who spoke highly of them (among a few other companies). He said they were family owned and I looked at their nice website, gave them a call and they just popped over today. I was convinced that we had bed bugs, the technician determined in a short time that it was just a flea infestation. (I'm beginning to believe there is a god after all!) They sent a nice guy named Jeff out free of charge and gave us options that are doable and affordable. They gave us peace of mind during what could have been a disturbing situation. Very disappointed in their incompetence. We had an infestation of raccoons on 3 floors of a building. ATCO came out, i believe 2X and said it was RATS, not raccoons. They mapped out an area in the basement that they stated had numerous entry points for the rodents, said they needed to be blocked off - either they would do it for a hefty fee or we could do it ourselves. As it turned out they had to come out TWICE because the first guy was uncertain, so the boss came out - he might have been certain in his diagnosis, but he too was DEAD WRONG! They also put down some poison. Their recommendation necessitated a repeat program where they would come out on a regular basis and check for dead animals and renew the poison - this at a hefty fee also. ...And they charged me for this BS, useless incorrect diagnoses visit....true professionals! I remembered another pest control we had used some years earlier, with success, Wildlife Detectives (in San Rafael). They were called, came out and stated unequivically that the problem was RACCOONS (as we suspected), NOT RATS. They defined the entry point for the critters - NOT the mapped areas that ATCO had mentioned but a very thin area between my building and the neighbor. The cure was to close off the access point in THIS area. Also repellents were placed in strategic areas before sealing off the area between the buildings since there was the possibility that raccoon babies were in the walls and we needed to get them out so we would not kill them by sealing them in. This procedure was followed, Wildlife Detective owner squeezed between the buildings, sealed off the holes - and we have been RACCOON FREE ever since (as of May 2018), about 9 months. read more

We have a bad flea issue and their treatments have not been effective. For the past week I have been trying to talk to the owner or the manager. The staff don't give owners phone number or take message for them. So basically owners are unreachable. Then there's the general manger John Machado. I have called at least 6 times and they always say he is in meeting and will call back. This guy doesn't have the least customer service or customer care to call back. They know how bad our problem is. I have to say I am so disappointed at their non responsiveness and lack of care or customer service. I think one star is too much. read more

I am preparing to sell my home and the spiders are out of control! I had heard about ATCO Pest Control and how they use green products. I called and made an appointment and they sent someone out withing a few days. Mike Troup did a great job attacking those spiders. I left in the morning shaking my head at all the spider webs and came home that night to find those spider webs gone. Avoid if you can. We called about pests in the crawl space and they first came over 5 days ago. The person they sent at that time was unable to do the work so we had to wait 6 additional days for someone to come back. Listen - this is almost a week with critters under the floor. Chewing chewing chewing. Peeing peeing peeing. Pooping pooping pooping. We ended up cancelling the second visit as their estimate included things we do not require and never asked for - after we reviewed the estimate and contacted their office they _still_ wanted to include it and yet things we may need in addition were _not_ estimated (i.e., additional trap servicing). They then threatened to charge us $85 to cancel this second appointment that was 6(!) days after their first visit. Why? Because they say they had to move appointments around. Funny how they had to do that for a followup visit almost a full week after the fist visit when they were not able to do anything except right up an estimate that was blatantly faulty. read more

I contacted this company on Sunday February 25th, because we were experiencing an unprecedented onslaught of ants. I got a swift return call from the Admin on Monday morning. I was told to leave my information on someone's voicemail, and was assured I would receive a call within the next 1.5 hours. I left all of my information (3rd time), even though I had just given all of my information to the admin and left a lengthy voicemail message on Sunday. I received a call around 10 am next day (Tues 2/27) while I was in a meeting. I returned the call within 15 minutes, when the meeting was over. I never heard back. Atco is great! Their technicians and their office staff are courteous, helpful, and honest. This was our third (major) visit from ATCO for rat issues on our rental property-we probably had them out about 6 times this summer. All of their technicians were knowledgeable and on time (what a concept!), but Kit was especially helpful in explaining all the steps. I feel they were very upfront about costs, but not pushy. It was a good value because I didn't have to climb into the rafters or under the house; that was definitely worth paying for! Not to mention they're fast. I should mention that There was a biking dispute and the office resolved the issue within minutes. They are very fair and listen to their customers. Another A+ for them! My only minor annoyance was a miscommunication between the office and tech about the day of service, but it wasn't a big deal. I also wish they had more available slots to come out. But once the office had somebody come out at 7am the following day to squeeze us in. Yay! Some companies do a half-a** job so they ensure their coming back, but not ATCO. I had been a customer of Atco for many years of quarterly spraying and termite repair work in 2019. My wife and I recently relocated to North Carolina and the Pest Control company that my real estate agent recommended came back with a report of termite infestation around our house in several areas(Atco had only treated and diagnosed our guest house in 2019). When my agent sent two different termite reports showing multiple infestations the Atco report came back with only one area. Their technician had the reports in front of him and was too lazy to be thorough. When I asked him about this discrepancy, and also if my guest house was treated in 2019 why did we not get a report on the main house. His response"I guess we should have offered you a report". You are the expert not me. I have absolutely no confidence in this company. I requested that the owner call me, but to no surprise on my behalf I have not heard a word. My experience with ATCO was quite disappointing. First of all, I was suffering from a mite infestation at home, so I scheduled an appointment for a specialist to come out to identify what it is. The specialist showed up and said he would do treatments right away, but I would have to leave the house for the next 3 hours. I said there was no way for me to just drop everything right then and there, especially when no one told me that's the only way for me to roll the inspection fee into the treatment fee. When asked about whether I was given a prep sheet, I showed them my email exchange and there was nothing in there that remotely mentions this scenario. I fought hard because I wanted to do treatment but I couldn't due to not being properly informed. Had I known that's the way it works, I would've done so accordingly. After some negotiation, we settled on paying just the visit fee ($85), which I was fine with considering they were going to charge me $150; by the way it was actually higher in the original quote in the email. It's odd that the price could change depending on who I speak to. Also... they never did actually identify what it is other than saying it's "most likely" rodent mites. I wish I could get paid $85 just to show up and say something like your bathroom "most likely" has mold... smh I then made another appointment for the treatment, which had to be another week because they were so busy without any immediate availability. I was given a time frame (9am-10am) in the morning for a specialist to come by and I prepped the house (removing everything in the infected area) and was prepared to leave for at least 3 hours. This was not exactly a small feat given that I had to coordinate with my wife, my tenant, and my work to make sure we can all clear our schedules for this... It turned out to be a no-show. I waited until 10:30am and finally they told me that specialist simply decided not to show up for work that day. Wow... Unbelievable! I wish I could just not show up to work... sigh... They responded to my inquiry within a matter of minutes and scheduled an appointment for Bobby to spray around my house. He arrived promptly to the appointment and got to work. As he sprayed, it started to rain. He offered to come back free of charge if the treatment washed away. He also had helpful suggestions for future pest prevention and pointed out problem areas that I could patch up. I had a rat problem in my attic. The next door neighbor removed an old, old garage and built a new one. Well, the old garage had a lot of rats and they all came over to my house. I hired Atco to rid my house of the varmits. It took a long time, over 8 months. Atco people surveyed the house, closed all entry points, and I set the traps. I then proceeded to catch rats, almost every week. One time I had caught four rats in my traps. Unbelievable! So Atco sent out a supervisor that went over the whole house again and again. In fact, he may have come out three times over the eight month period. But I was still catching rats. Finally, Atco sent out a newer employee who was skinny and able to access under the whole house. He was able to find an old clay pipe that was leading up to the attic so he pulled it down and found a lot of rat droppings. Its been seven weeks now and not one rat has shown up - dead or alive. I am thrilled and glad I stuck with Atco and they stuck with me until we solved the problem. read more

This company came too early. I was not given a service window, but a specific time. I came home to a bill. The person had put open traps all over my yard. I have small digging dogs and a young child, and I was horrified to see open traps. This was not discussed with me, I came home and found them in. I did not give their worker permission to enter my yard and proceed with their traps. I called back and got a woman on the phone who blamed me, "You did not tell me you have a dog!". Nobody ASKED me if I had a dog. And none the less, my gates on both sides of the yard have a warning sign posted for dogs, and they show the type of dog I have. I was very taken aback by this treatment. I had to wait another hour for the man to come back. I asked him to remove the traps. Luckily, the mole was in one of the traps already. The person who put in the traps was friendly and respectful. The woman on the phone was annoyed. The job got done, after all, but I have a very bitter taste in my mouth for such disregard for the customer. I can not recommend this company in good faith. read more

I hired Atco because of a flea problem I have at a rental house in Napa. After the first treatment $190 failed to get rid of the fleas I paid them to come again $140 and still have a major flea problem. They then tried to sell me another service $125 and other work $150 which I asked if it would solve the problem, and they said no guarantees. As a landlord I have a responsibility to my tenants to handle problems in a reasonable amount of time and a month later I still have the same problem so I hired another pest control service that will guarantee their work. So I have a spider problem. At first, I was really happy with the service, the service person, and the fact that they use eco-friendly products upon request for no extra charge. However, after paying to have the inside and outside of my house serviced, the spiders did not go away. I WAS STILL SEEING SPIDERS RIGHT AFTER THEY LEFT! I thought it might take some time before the products had time to work, but after two weeks, but it was like my house had never been serviced, so I called. After the service person spoke with the owner, the best they would do was spray the outside of my house for free, but would charge to spray the inside again. I found this to be highly annoying and a RIP OFF considering I paid $180 and still had NO CHANGE the first time. I still had spiders everywhere inside my house. I think anyone would agree that I would be foolish to keep paying them more money if they can't even do the job right the first time or stand by their work. Let me begin on a positive note. Everyone was very nice at this company. However, it was not explained to me there are two charges for the work to be done. The first is the inspection and the second is the actual work, such as sealing areas where rodents could enter the home. I probably would have agreed, but finding out I had a second bill really irritated me. If you use this company, be sure to ask about the TOTAL bill(s) before agreeing to anything. My bill which I thought was $280 actually had an additional inspection charge of $275. So the inspection was the almost the same as doing the actual work. They took $50 off the bill because I was unhappy. Whether the rodent problem is any better, I will have to wait and see. read more

We have had a rat infestation for a few weeks. I tried to catch them with my traps and was somewhat successful but all of a sudden there were tons of the little critters. I called ATCO and was so relieved to have Brandin on board :) He made life so much easier by safely eliminating the critters. The cost was much less than I thought it would be which left me enough spare cash to give Brandin a nice tip...which he richly deserved! While the actual technicians were very nice, the overall experience was expensive and irritating. The tech relocated traps I already had purchased on Amazon and said he couldn't find any way the rodents were getting into our apartment, and still charged us $275. When I called to express my frustration to the company the person I spoke to was completely unapologetic and didn't seem to care. We recently used ATCO for our rental house in Santa Rosa. We evicted a tenant and found the house was over run with RATS!!! Kenny came and took care of the problem and did an AWESOME job! He had his work cut out for him. Then I decided to have him come to my home in Novato where I had been hearing little critters myself in the attic. Well 3 days, about 50 garbage bags full of insulation and a roll of hardware cloth later all is quiet upstairs!! Clean as a whistle. We decided to start fresh and get rid of all the insulation and put in new. Kenny and his partner did a very professional job. They wired all the little cracks and crevices all around my home so nothing could get in. They set traps for anyone they might have trapped inside and were very quick about coming back to remove my unwanted guests! I love this company because they did what they said they were going to do and were very friendly and efficient doing it. They even left cell phone numbers and showed up in less than an hour when I had a panic call!!! If you want it done right, call ATCO! I'm sure everyone is efficient, but Kenny is the BOMB! I cannot say enough how impressed we were by this company, and how lucky we feel to have found them. I had already hired a major company in a panic, after 2 inspections, after our vacation rental guests woke us up to show us bed bugs in the master bed, after 8 perfect years! Of course it was near a weekend, we had guests coming the next week for Thanksgiving; we had to fix it for SURE, so they would not be exposed, or ruin their trip by cancelling them days before their flight and giving a massive refund. It was our worst nightmare. NO ONE would do the heat treatment we wanted; there was "no time," they were "weeks out." So the major company sold us a "freezing" treatment for $2,100, and said we would have to do a full-blown tented fumigation (of a 4000 ft. house) for "6-8K more, in a couple weeks," when our guests were gone. They would have charged 4K to heat treat the master and a tiny bedroom, 2 rooms. Most pros agree that freezing doesn't work, so I found ATCO by sheer luck and called, out of time. YES, they said, they could heat the house, and Bonnie(?), though they were booked solid, moved heaven and earth to get Jeff out the NEXT DAY, Friday, to inspect when she heard the desperation in my voice. I cancelled the freezing. She then scheduled the heating for MONDAY, after moving things around and making calls, again, because Tuesday was too late for us. Bonnie (or Aurora?) was so nice, throughout, and got the job when she said they would do "everything," as opposed to the big guys, who told me: "We DON'T move furniture!" and wanted US to expose ourselves and the rest of our house by wrestling a king size mattress up and out of the house, wrap it ourselves, and: "Throw it in a dumpster." Bonnie said "No, WE do that, you don't touch anything, we do it all." THAT alone was worth every penny. Jeff came out and did a THOROUGH, whole-house inspection, at NO extra charge, finding only one room infested, but gave a price for treating that and TWO other adjacent rooms (just in case) for about one thousand LESS than the big guys would have charged to heat only 2 rms! They really could have stuck it to us, we were desperate and had no choice, but they beat their competitors by a THOUSAND BUCKS and did an extra room for it! Plus a preventative treatment in cracks and baseboards, wallplates, etc. No tented fumigation necessary. Jordan and his crew were right on time Mon, so kind and reassuring, moved everything with no damage whatsoever, and we left for like ten hours. They heated our house to 150 or more, in order to heat the insides of the walls, which is very important. They vacuumed up the mess, put clothes in fresh clean bags, wrapped and took away our old mattress set, and get this: Jordan even said they purposely did not wear their uniforms, just for us, so the neighbors would not suspect! I thought that was SO sweet. We had to wet wipe some baseboards, that was it. They sent a dog and handler the next day who declared the whole house (a favor again of Aurora's, they usually just sniff the treated rooms) bedbug free, and certified it so. I was about to write this review when our one-night renters, who did NOT end up contracting bedbugs, emailed attempting to extort many thousands of dollars from us to avoid a ruinous review, though we had refunded them in full, immediately, of course. So, again, Aurora went out of her way to put together a package of more proof and certifications of inspections, etc., to prove we were now bug-free, in case they tried to say we still had them (if we didn't pay up). I can't thank her and ATCO enough: their price was much lower, they were compassionate, and most of all, it WORKED! They went WAY out of their way for us, and we recommend them highly, over the rip-off big guys who almost stole us blind. We are customers for life. read more

ATCO came to my home for a walk around and a quote given by the tech and that was a whopping $300.00. Every other month spray $110.00 and a one time free to set rat boxes outside for $115.00. Great. After the first service I get a charge for an additional $65.00 for rat checks every month. This was not what was quoted and I tried to tell the woman in the office but was belittled and yelled at and so I dropped the service. She told me they are so busy that I have to wait a month for them to come get the rat boxes and I said I will put them outside for the tech to come get. She YELLS and said, "don't touch those and break them or you will be charged." I have now moved those smelly rat boxes out front and will put them in a sealed black bag as I don't want flies all over the place. Since they can't get here for another week. I called again and asked for them to come and get them and the RUDE woman said see you in another week.....I have documented the boxes are in perfect shape and the new service has already set the new boxes and what a pleasure to work with. NO HIDDEN FEES. They might want to work on their customer service and phone manners! UPDATE: After I posted my review yesterday Chris G. the branch manager called to see what it was all about and apologized for the treatment I received from the office staff who were so rude. We had a long productive chat and I feel he really felt bad and as a gesture returned a portion of my money and immediately picked up the bait boxes. Hopefully he will work on the office staff so this doesn't happen again to another costumer. Customer service can make or break a business. read more
