I used these guys because a real estate agent referred me but now that I try to look them up I see that they are listed as a business that closed under a different address. STAY AWAY. OMG - heads up - don't use ATCO! 375 for first visit - for which they give you an estimate and set traps and return a few days later to pick up traps. 500 dollar estimate for 3 small openings! They can't guarantee work because houses are lined up next to each other so the only way to make sure critters stay away is to pay a100 per month maintenance contract, plus the 875. I shoulda been a mouse catcher. When I spoke to them originally they thought the cost for sealing the holes would be about 250 and that the service person doing the estimate would be able to do the work on the spot. Not true! Also tried to get my credit card number BEFORE they booked me an appointment. That should have been a warning sign. read more

We selected Atco Pest Control of Novato for the treatment of subterranean termites at our home. From the first time an inspector and estimator came out until the first treatment we were impressed with the quality of Atco's workers and the suggestions they made. We are sure Henry saved us a lot of money with his advice and perspective before he began the job of remediation. I would not hesitate to call up Atco of Novato again. I discovered presumed mites in my apartment for which landlord contracted three treatments from ATCO. Each treatment done 10 days to 2 weeks apart made the insect population explode as I reported to landlord. They were supposed to identify the pest which they never did. Therefore they had no idea what the reproduction duration was. They ignored the details I provided. They missed finding bugs in their traps because they only checked two of a dozen. I was told they found no evidence of any insect infestation by my landlord. I found 5 different bugs on one of their traps immediately they missed entirely. They also missed seeing an entire line of large black dead bugs in the upper gasket of my freezer. They also failed to recognize the mite damage to all my plants. Because of their failures the landlord got a written pass to ignore my infestation which has remained unaddressed for going on ten months and continues to grow. Insects are embedded in all my ceilings, floors and walls. They were not knowlegable and have created a living hell for me getting bitten and scarred nightly and my dog needing daily topical medications. The new property manager has also taken a pass based on their "no evidence of infestation" report. Avoid this company. Their tech was a complete faillure. read more

We've been customers of Atco for some time. Unfortunately, their service has continuously degraded. We've used them for ant service, which has been so-so. In speaking with the technician, we hear a different excuse every time about why they can't keep ants out. Then, we used them for gopher control, which was not good at all. It wasn't until we got a new terrier who began hunting the gophers did we see any success. Then, we hired them to do rodent exclusion underneath our home. This has not worked at all. The rodents are still getting in, then dying underneath the house, causing horrendous odors. We continue to pay for monthly servicing of the traps, but the "warranty" they promised with the original contract has not been upheld. Now, they want additional money to seal some areas they missed on their first inspection (which we paid hundreds of dollars for). The worst thing is that they won't answer or return phone calls the first time around. If you wait for a return call, it will never happen. You have to leave multiple messages before you get a response (and I'm not talking about complaint calls, this is included for general services). read more

If you have another choice, don't use this pest control company. My apartment complex had a contract with them or I would never have let them come out on-site based on how I was treated by their commercial contract guy Matthew. He literally started accusing me of odd things on the phone and was yelling at me to the point where I had to hang up on him twice. It was a terrible experience. Also, when they did come out to spray, it was completely ineffective. Move on to another company if you can! I am updating my review based on the owners response. I now clearly see that this is a top down issue with management at Atco. Blaming my property management company for how Matthew acted directly towards me on both of my direct phone conversations is a tell all. I simply asked Matthew if Atco offered a service where one of their pest control people could come here to my apartment to help me figure out how the centipedes were entering before they sprayed. Matthew started yelling at me saying "if you are planning to send my pest control guy away once he gets there you had better tell me right now". My response was that I never said that nor would I ever do something like that but he kept going off on me to the point of where I had to disconnect both calls. It was a horrible experience and it's clear that the owner of this company is trying to shift the blame. If you are reading this, please move on to a different pest control company. Not just because of how you will potentially be treated but also because their treatment here did nothing to help with my problem at all. I used this company in 2017, to address gopher/mole issues in my yard and was very pleased with the results. The technician was amazing, reliable and very knowledgeable. Not unusual, the gophers returned this year. I contacted Atco again because I was so happy with the job done in 2017. This time was completely different and not good. The technician came on Aug 20, dug a small hole, placed poison gummy's in, placed a few lawn flags said someone would be back within a week. I haven't seen or heard from the company since and had no response from my email to the company. A friend and neighbor recommended Atco, after we found out we had a huge infestation of voles and gophers in our yard. We are backed up to open space, so we had to be mindful of not having any poison that could harm wildlife in the area. After several weeks, the problem is managed, and we are so happy. read more

I requested an estimate for removing mice from under my house and got multiple emails from them trying to sell me a plan for exclusion. The last reply I had from them was to say that they could do the plan and set traps for $295. In this day and age, sometimes if a service provider just answers their phone and you can converse with a human, it gets a four star review here whether or not any work takes place. In my case, ATCO answered the phone, offered options to my problem and offered an estimated price and so it was easy to set an appointment for the work. That appointment was originally made for 10 days away, but I asked them to keep me in mind for any cancellations that might come up as I can be flexible for a service call. Sure enough, an earlier appointment was offered and I accepted. The technician called first and showed up on time and ready to do the work. The assessment met the phone consultation and the price was also the same. And now we're not infested with whatever was bothering us. Good show all around and yes, I'd use them again in an instant. read more

Appalling. Although the person they sent out initially to do the work was very nice, the follow-up was a nightmare and a complete waste of money. (Which is considerable since they are more expensive than other pest control services.)The first ATCO guy to come out should have left us with a copy of what work would be done. He showed me a map very quickly and said that he didn't have a copy. Extremely unprofessional. Then there were repeated communication problems which resulted in people showing up unannounced one time, and then not showing up when I was told they would. Because we were arranging this around people's (our) work schedules, this was especially problematic. The last person to come out didn't even close up all the holes they said they would. They apparently contract with random pest control people around the bay area. Someone else entirely ended up having to finish the work. Another downside is that you cannot email them. If you have a problem you are trying to get rid of, you are taking a risk with this company. read more

ATCO was asked to de-web, spray for spiders, and recommend an action plan for the property. The service was ineffective. I had to remove webs after the technician left and the spray / chemicals did nothing to repel the spiders, as new webs were back within a day. More troubling, the technician failed to even notice the mole hills around the property and recommend a treatment plan. Very disappointed, as I was hoping to find a company that would create a comprehensive pest management plan, and all I got was someone trying to make a quick $250 with an ineffective pesticide. read more

Please reconsider doing business with this company. We first used ATCOs services in 2017 when they came out to do a diagram of our house and also to set some traps. They charged $295 for the visit and set 5 traps. Mind you, the traps they set were all situated right in front of the entrance of our under house storage where I could have easily placed them myself. They even considerately put a trap on top of our camping tent and our Christmas boxes to squish dead rats on the very things we touch and utilize. We had them come back for one more visit to pick up the dead rats and place new traps. They charged $70ish dollars for this and placed the traps in the exact same places. I vowed never to use their services again. Fast forward to last month and of course the rats are back. My husband decided to call a pest company this time and little did I know he decided to call ATCO. Well, they came out and charged us $350 this time for the initial assessment and house diagram even though they had done it just one year prior. They claimed to have no record of it (even after we provided a copy). They placed traps in the exact locations as before again yielding 2 rats. So people, sorry for this long review, but to sum it up we paid over $700 to catch about 5 rats and still have no holes patched or any of the problems solved. We brought this to ATCOs attention and they basically shrugged their shoulders and said "too bad". So I hope they suffer from this negative review as we gave them an opportunity to remedy the situation before posting this review. Please look elsewhere before doing business with these people, or jeez watch a YouTube video about setting traps yourself and but them at Home Depot because you won't be getting anywhere with this company. read more

My last interaction with ATCO was with someone in A/P at the company, who was very nice on the phone, but not able to make a decision to waive the cancellation fee. And being an honorable type of guy, I paid it. (I mean this in a humble fashion, really.) Well Bonnie Morgon, the Manager of ATCO emailed me yesterday and told me to expect a check in the mail as they were refunding the entire cancellation fee. I wish I had the opportunity to speak to someone in a decision making position earlier, but I was driving when I spoke with the A/P woman, and wasn't thinking. We have been customers for many years but NEVER WILL CALL THEM AGAIN AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. We have had problems with moles and voles that Atco was treating on a contract. A few months ago they sent out a service person who was dumber then a rock and we complained to management. We were told we'd never see him again and they were aware of how bad he is. This month we had a problem with seeing a dead cockroach. We explained we do not want pesticides sprayed in our home if possible. The serviceman put out sticky traps and we found a few in them during the following week.. We asked if they could replace them to see how bad the problem is and if we found new ones we might have to spray. They sent a serviceman who was the person we asked never to have back. He would not listen and kept preparing to spray. We then showed him some sort of different device and he said he didn't know why we had that it was for cockroaches. With that we asked him to leave. He went outside and checked the vole traps and left. We were charged for our monthly service $65 and $175 for cockroach treatment. When we called and complained to the manager he said they could not do anything about it. We then cancelled our monthly service and said we were not paying the $175. read more

They came out several times, problem still not gone. They suggested we repair a few areas of the house. We did the repairs. When we called to let them know that they never got rid of the rodents, they asked if we made the repairs. We responded yes we did. But they still want to charge another $150.00 to do another inspection because other people had been there doing work. The technicians that came out were very nice and professional. But that does not make up for the fact that there are still rats in our home. read more

I am writing to lodge a complaint against Atco Pest control as their technician damaged my gate, rendering it inoperable  and they deny doing this and refuse to pay for the damages. I hired Atco a year or so ago to take care of the pest problem in my house. Initially the company did a good job, sent the same competent technician and were pleasant to deal with. Recently, however, things changed as two different technicians  came to solve an ant problem which neither solved. Neither tech had taken the time to read the files on my house and were unfamiliar with the layout, where the problems  were and which areas had been treated in the past and where the ants were showing up at this time. One of the techs stated he was unable to treat the area in question as he was too big to fit in it. The other was rude to my housekeeper and so she asked him to leave. Prior to his entry into the house he was attempting to enter the property through the driveway gate though it clearly states in the notes to use the pedestrian gate as the driveway gate does not open. My housekeeper saw him through the window shake the gate and attempt to pull it or force it to open. Later that day when I arrived home I pushed my remote and the gates openEd on one side but on the other the gate simply fell off its hinges and into the driveway. The gate had been pushed off its hinges. When I left that morning the gate had been in operation. No one had arrived or left from the house. I couldn't figure out what had happened but then my housekeeper told me what she had seen. I called the company and was told they would look into it and speak to the technician. I then called Sonoma Overhead Doors and spoke with Ceci Arellano  who sent someone to put the gate back in place temporarily with a heavy strap. At this point I asked the man from Sonoma Overhead Doors what had happened to my gate when he arrived to repair it and he said that someone could have shaken or pushed the gate off its hinges. He had no doubt about this. I called Jon Machado, the manager at Atco, and informed him I would like to be compensated for the damage his tech had done to my property. He said he would call the gate company to understand how this had happened. Sonoma Overhead Doors have returned his call three times but he has not returned the call nor have I heard from him. read more

Had these guys come out to look at issues with rodents and potentially termites, yikes! Everyone was nice and professional for the most part. Why the low score? Well, the guy they sent out was junior and didn't know his stuff. Mistook termite wings for wood boring beetles. Stated there was no risk yet recommended a whole house fumigation. He also deployed probably $12 worth of Victor type snap traps that do not work with smart wood rats. Their billing group was disorganized and requested signed docs multiple times after I submitted. Worst part, I paid for the inspection and got nothing useful out of it. To fix, I had to pay upwards of another $1,000! Nice people but a complete waste of money, cannot recommend. read more

I had an absolutely great experience with Atco, and Christian Barragan the technician that took care of our home. We had previously hired another service to take care of our rodent problem, and despite pulling up deck boards and having them come to the house, they couldn't ever fix the problem. Christian took great care to inspect the home, was able to shimmy under the deck (wish we hadn't paid to have those pulled up previously) and took his time to thoroughly develop a plan to get rid of our rodent problem. We recently had an emergency infestation and Jon, a incredible technician, responded immediately to our needs to clear it up. This is the second time Jon has helped us and, as last time - about a year ago - he resolved the problem and an unusable room because usable again. We also appreciate his ability to explain what is going on and take the time to do what needs to be done at the least inconvenience to us. We found bugs in our bed and I immediately panicked and thought we had a bed bug problem. Orkin came out, said I had bed bugs, and pushed a 3K heat treatment on me. I scheduled it, but was worried I should do more research. Luckily, I was able to get in contact with ATCO through Scent Tek to get a second opinion. Jeff arrived right on time and I could tell from the get go he knew what he was talking about. He was very thorough, inspecting everywhere they can hide and explaining to me how to find them. I was full of questions and he happily answered all of them. Turns out, I didn't have bed bugs at all! I do have a weird beetle that we need to take care of with ATCO but I am relieved that they were able to save me a ton of money and not push a treatment on me. Superior service from everyone in the company I've had contact with. I discovered rats in my basement four days before Christmas. The first company I called said they were booking the third week of January and I certainly didn't want to wait for nearly a month to get rid of them. I then called ATCO and they were able to come out the day after I called, much to my relief. Rudy arrived at my SF home on time and after a thorough inspection was able to identify just one access point for those nasty critters into the basement (one is enough of course). Their usual service for rats (and undoubtedly mice too) is to make two visits for a set fee. The first involves thorough inspection to see where and and how they are getting into the home and to set snap traps. They draw a map of these access points which is emailed or sent to the homeowner within a few days, along with the cost to seal the access points. They also return in about a week to check the traps set at the first visit. I also received a cost estimate to replace the fiberglass insulation in the unfinished ceiling and walls of the basement, vacuum up the rat droppings, and deodorize. The old insulation is dirty and damaged from the "rat party" that had been going on in there. That work will be done in the near future. Because I had just one access point Rudy was able to seal it off with galvanized steel. The traps were set just in case any rats remained in the now sealed off basement. This morning Chris came to check the traps and found no activity so we can be confident that no more rats remain in my home. That is a huge relief. I can say nothing but good things about this company. They made what is certainly a thoroughly unpleasant and gross discovery, and just before Christmas as well, and efficiently and competently solved my problem at a reasonable cost. I was always contacted if they were going to be even 15 min later than the original appointment time (and the first appointment window was for an hour, not 2-4 hours). No one wants this problem and there are much more fun ways of spending money, but I'd not hesitate to contact ATCOA again for any future pest problem I may have. Highly recommended. read more

I had Atco come out to treat a minor bed bug problem I picked up on vacation. Their bed bug heat treatment was satisfactory. However, like another reviewer, I was surprised at the amount of damage to my place. The biggest problems were a large amount of dirt tracked onto the carpet, a pronounced rust stain, and damage to a brand new dresser. When I contacted Atco for a token amount to help pay for the cleaning and repair of these items, they refused (despite the clear photos that I sent them). I'm a reasonable guy - the person doing the initial inspection stood me up twice without warning but I accepted his explanation. I also ignored a number of fresh nicks and scratches on walls and furniture knowing that the technicians had to move stuff around. The other issues I mentioned, however, are beyond what I would expect when paying Atco nearly two thousand dollars for this service. Bottom line: satisfactory heat treatment, poor customer service. read more

We used this company b/c I picked up bedbugs on a business trip. Ugh. Be careful out there people. Bedbugs are everywhere! It was mixed. They gave us what seemed to be a pretty good rate. They were also very pleasant to deal with and the guy who did the estimate and led the work was also nice to deal with. The issue is that we had more damage than I think we should have. Some of the damage was: they scratched up the walls moving furniture, put dings and scratches in my handmade walnut bed frame, caused shrinkage in the wood of the bed frame so it has spaces now (I checked the furniture maker and this should not have happened if they controlled the temp correctly), damaged some plants that they moved, melted a power strip and an alarm clock, put a big scratch/dent in a dresser. Also, a bookshelf and desk were blistered although not everywhere which makes me think it didn't have to happen - they just got too hot in certain places. Also, not clear whether they got rid of the bugs or not. We had no bugs or signs of them for about 6 weeks and then we found one bug. That might have been what our inspector called "a long ranger" b/c it has been another month and there have been no bugs. It's hard to say whether ATCO missed that one or not, but it sure seems likely to me. Anyway, this is a hard business. ATCO may be the best, I don't know. But if you have nice furniture, expect some damage if you choose the heat treatment with ATCO. read more

Extremely overpriced for the service I was given. They charge $125.00 for just a inspection regardless if you have a problem or not. This fee should be cut in half or just free. We thought we had wasps in our attic. Since family member is allergic I was prompt to call and make an appointment. My appointment was at between 3:30pm and 4:30pm. I left work earlier then I planned and was home by 2pm. My doorbell rang at 2:50pm. I was startled and put out that I did not receive phone call asking if it was OK to come earlier. The technician walked around the house and stated that he so no activity so it looked like we were Wasp free. That will be $125.00 now please? I had to ask the technician to look in our attic since that is where we thought the problem was. "Oh no, I really think you you are good" was the response. NO, was my response I am paying you to inspect the house an especially where we thought the problem was. The technician finally relented in and went into the attic. Indeed no wasp however service was terrible. I called the office and left a message to speak with the owner. Ten minutes later the service manager John called. He was very apologetic. I asked him to speak to the owner about the cost of inspections and service given. I have not heard from the owner so here we are. DO NOT USE ATCO. Do some research (i failed there) and find a company that will do free or very reasonable inspections. read more

Atco Pest was recommended to be my a fellow Realtor, as i was searching for a reputable Pest company to clear pest issues in my Seller's home so that the loan would go through. We were under a tight deadline, and it really was luck that I had the opportunity to be referred to Atco. Many companies claim that they can do the job, and in a certain timeframe, but Atco Pest Control DID do the job, and was honestly a pleasure to deal with during the process. And this was a complicated job that required not only spraying, but replacing 2 sub floors in the home. They also had to rebuild part of the deck and steps that had dry rot. Chris Garcia was very professional, communicative and can handle a complex pest situation (termites, rodents, dry rot) with ease. His company handles the permits, and when situations come up, he deals with them and was in constant communication throughout. I appreciate the polite staff, and will certainly recommend them to my clients and colleagues in the Novato and Marin area! Be sure to have Atco come out to give a quote. They can read an Inspection Report, but definitely have them come onsite to give a quote since there can often times be necessary items that aren't shown in the Inspector's report. So.... as much as I don't like writing negative reviews I am going to do so on this one because as a whole I had a VERY frustrating and overall bad experience with this place. My intital experience started in Dec 2014/Jan 2015 when I noticed a rodent in the house and they came to inspect the premises. The worker was literally there for 5 minutes and charged me a $275.00 inspection fee and walked out my door. As livid as I was, I called them back because I needed someone to put traps ASAP and they charged me I believe another $175-185 to do so. And even then I was given a pretty crappy experience and the customer service SUCKED. So what has lead me to write this review?? Basically 7 months after I am having another issue and after calling 5 times and not getting ONE call back, I finally get a hold of someone was told that they will charge another $125 to come back out to see where they are coming from, when in fact I contacted another local company who inspected my home for free and was nice enough to give me different options on the phone. Now I fully understand that rodents come back, but what I don't understand is why this place has such CRAPPY service and really doesn't seem to care about their customer's experience. And FYI, Pest Control and banks do NOT operate the same way...... (that was def one of the highlights of my conversation .. -haha) I will take my $$$$ and my trust and go ELSEWHERE! I contacted ATCO based on a recommendation from another pest-control company in San Francisco. The first company I contacted specialized in bedbugs only. I needed a general pest control company to inspect a unit. The earliest appointment ATCO had available was for the next week. After setting up the appointment, I asked for them to contact me if anything opened up sooner. Less than an hour later, ATCO called me and said they had an opening and could come out the next morning. The next morning I met Jeff for the inspection. Jeff was professional, courteous, and thorough. He called me first-thing in the morning to advise me he was going to be running a bit late. I appreciated his contacting me and keeping me updated. When Jeff arrived, he explained what he was going to do. He was complete and thorough in his inspection. The final price was very reasonable. I highly recommend ATCO. read more

I got bed bugs last week and it was nothing short of a nightmare dealing with it. I had Orkin come out to inspect it and they were so unbelievably slimey and uninformative that I was immediately on the hunt for another pest control company. Luckily, ATCO was kind enough to make some room in their busy day to have someone come out to take a look at my place. Will came and was so informative-- he let me know what treatment they could offer and what they would do and why it was effective. Three days later, they had their team of technicians heat treating my unit! Will was absolutely the BEST technician I could have asked for to be on this job. They showed up exactly on time, answered all of my questions and concerns thoroughly, and were just so friendly-- ESPECIALLY compared to Orkin. They really understood the concept of great customer service and delivered. Bed bugs are the shittiest thing I've had to deal with but with their friendliness and fast turn around times, they really put me at ease. And unlike Orkin, I didn't feel like they were just trying to take my money and run. I could tell they really wanted to get rid of them. After all, they were there even an hour longer than what they estimated treating the unit. After the treatment was done, I still had some questions about certain things. I asked Will and he was immediately responsive and helpful. I mean, you really can't beat that type of customer service. I contacted ATCO based on information found from another site. ATCO was listed having an electronic termite detection tool. I had Chris who came to inspect an area for possible dry wood termite. When she came the second time to check the monitor she diagnosed our problem.
