Update. Ok, Atco came back out and sprayed at no charge. I was told this time that they do not guarantee outdoor service as it is not possible to prevent ants outside. The product definitely worked as I have only seen a handful of ants inside and they were gone for about 2 weeks outside before they came back with a vengeance. Hopefully this will keep them more in check, we were able to see where they were living and spray them down. The Atco technician is pleasant and did a good job and other than the miscommunication, they have done well. Just be sure to understand that there guarantee is only for interiors and exteriors are not covered. read more

Carpenter Bees. Ahhh the pleasure of home ownership is learning new things every day whether you want to or not. So there was a swarm of carpenter bees on the side of my home which is on a hillside that has lots of greenery and trees. This makes a perfect environment for all kinds of native birds including peppy hummingbirds and bees. I used the handy dandy Yelp get a quote feature (I swear by this, saves a lot of time while helping me make a good decision who I feel most comfortable and confident hiring) After several messages back and forth I chose ATCO for their fair pricing, great communication, it's a local family business which I love supporting, and they are just really organized with their quotes. When I bought this house my realtor recommended them during the discovery phase. Technician showed up on time and got to work. He discussed the specifics with my husband (I was inside the house working) so we understood why this happened and how to prevent it. Also we can call them anytime! We no longer have carpenter bees trying to burrow into my home. I am really happy about that, Friendly, efficient service. I love how the technician educated us with what was happening and how these bees operate. He's the expert who taught us valuable information about a pest situation that is conducive to our home. I like feeling empowered this way. COVID SAFETY: technician wore mask, majority of the conversation via Yelp, in-person conversation was socially distanced and outdoors, and we conveniently paid by phone. I'm a renter and my landlord hired this company to help with a gopher problem; they're literally causing the yard and path we walk on to collapse; they recommended another process but used traps instead and so far I've only seen two new holes in three weeks and can smell the gophers dying under the house (nothing can be done about THAT) Great service, very communicative and friendly people have come to my home. read more

They showed multiple times with the wrong equipment unable to do anything, showed up without any notice, and when I contacted the company I never received a response. Meh. Not in love, but I still use them. Why? It's hard to keep rats under control when you live near a creek, and they do come out once a month and check the traps. I can't deal with dead rats, that's above my pay grade. I had an ant service with them, which they talked me into when I remodeled my ADU and found a ton fo those gigantic carpenter ants when they took the sheetrock off. They told me I needed to keep doing it, which was really expensive and completely unnecessary. Just have them come out when you see ants (I mean an infestation, not the little guys that you can just use a bait on). ATCO is expensive--they charge ALOT for everything. They just raised their prices. Their interface to check the reports from the rat traps is difficult to use. They text me multiple times after the guy comes asking me to "rate" him, but I can't because I am never there when he comes, and also, I can't find/read the reports or don't have time to log in, etc. Why can't they just send the report in an email? But no, that'd be too easy. The people in the office are nice, in a tight, strict third-grade teacher kind of way. So--yeah. Wish I had a better alternative but they're not bad enough for me to really go research it. read more

Awful. Just awful. Terribly disorganized. Lost all notes regarding appointment, most importantly our time constraints. So even though they promised arrival no later than 3 pm, they called day-of, when we'd already been waiting nearly 90 minutes, to let us know that they were overbooked and couldn't arrive until very late,, which we had advised them we absolutely could not do. Home is a remote area, and twice we had discussed with them the logistics of coming out to the home to meet them and what that meant in terms of scheduling. They completely forgot. And forgot again when they offered to reschedule us to an alternate days. I don't have another 3-4 hours to drive up and back to meet them when they are just going to lose all their notes and overbook themselves. Plenty of other companies who at least know how to schedule. Avoid this sad excuse for a company. read more

This service over-charged our credit card for multiple months, beyond what we authorized; failed to perform pest control services at our Tiburon residence as required under contractual agreement; and, even worse, failed after we terminated their services in March 2023, to return the key to our outer gates in a vandalism - and - crime ridden part of California. ATCO violated multiple provisions of CA penal code, for which, as attorneys, we are seriously contemplating a lawsuit against them for multiple damages. read more

I was assaulted by an Atco pest employee in my own home. This is a warning to anyone who might be fooled by their ad. This employee rang my doorbell over 50 times, I went to answer the door and this Unidentified aggressive male pushed through my door and pushed me out of the way. I pleaded with him to leave, saying I don't know who you are but you need to go back out the door. He then started slapping his chest(There was some Atco logo, unknown to me at the time). He then said I'm fucking pest control, in a rage. It really looked like he was on some type drug's. He still refused to go outside so I could verify if he really was what he said. Instead, he tried to smash past me crushing me into the rale and wall. this happened 3like or 4 times. If this wasn't bad enough he then attempted to file a false police report. I feel like I have been victimized in my own home. Atco apparently supports this employee still. (most likely a family member) So be warned if you use Atco's service you might meet this guy. I love SF and only want peace and happiness for all my fellow residents. I hope this helps you make an educated decision about who to call for your pest needs. Alameda County Service - We signed up in April of 2024 and the only good service was when we signed up and paid the $300 to start. Thereafter, our service every other month has not what we expected. We do not get contacted before the service and then when the service happens, the tech is half ass. Spoke to scheduler many times who sounds concerned. Cannot seem to get management to call me regarding issues. Does not sound like they care and just want the monthly payment. Would not recommend. read more

I was very happy with the 2 employees who came out and I met and think they may have solved our mouse problem, at least for now. We bought a house in the woods and really had no idea what to do regarding rodents. ATCO came and assessed, set traps, caught one and then plugged up the house so no more enter. We had occasionally seen mouse droppings a couple times over the years, but they stopped after I trapped a couple of the critters. Recently, though, the little critters are back in force and it freaks my wife out. Gotta admit, I'm kinda grossed out myself. Called ATCO and had to give them a credit card for their $350 charge. Included in their one-time service: inspection, placement of traps, return a week later to empty traps and a subsequent return after two more weeks to retrieve traps. Omar came to the house, but wasn't particularly interested in inspecting inside, where we'd seen the mouse spoor, instead walking around outside, takin some pictures and reportedly placing traps. In the end, I insisted he look indoors, at least downstairs, but he didn't place any traps inside. He said he would email me an estimate for the cost of "sealing" the house. ATCO returned for the follow up a week later. The technician reported that the traps had been triggered, but hadn't caught anything, so he reset them. In response to my query, he said the traps are baited with peanut butter, which is what I used to bait the traps I'd used myself before calling ATCO, to rather better effect. Eventually we got a phone call, to "schedule the final trap collection and to set up sealing your house." In the meantime, the rodent infestation had gotten worse, with droppings every morning, all our foodstuff in sealed containers, and finally a mouse running practically over my wife's foot. We've received no estimate for the "sealing" ATCO proposes to do. And Omar pointed out that "sealing" the house isn't going to eliminate rodents living in the planting or under the driveway, who will simply find another entry point eventually. My gut feeling, after paying $350 for a handful of traps allegedly placed but useless, a nonexistent proposal for "sealing" the house, and a subsequent home invasion by rodents, is that this company is sloppy and inept at best, paying far more attention to bilking homeowners out of hundreds of dollars than getting rid of a single rodent. I just order a half dozen new traps through Amazon, stuck some peanut butter in them, and placed them along the obvious mouse trails. Meanwhile I'll look for a reputable extermination firm. ------------UPDATE--------- Just to be clear, based on this firm's "response," in no way was anything "resolved to our satisfaction." As already paid for, a tech was sent to our house to pick up the (empty) traps and left. A salesman called because they didn't like this honest review, but offered no resolution--not that we would have accepted it, as I made clear. The firm's response to bad reviews is as bogus as their response to pests. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. After years of being a satisfied customer in the Bay Area, I hired Atco when I moved to San Diego a few years ago as they told me they were opening an office there and asked if I'd support them. I signed a contract for bimonthly service to spray outside and manage outdoor rodent bait boxes. Of course one pays a subscription so that when issues arise, there's a relationship with the company and timely service. Fast forward to this week. I found evidence of mice in my house, and I called the office to schedule treatment. The first receptionist first told me that the sole SD Atco technician was on an extended vacation and that I would have to find another company, and another receptionist told me the SD office closed 2 years ago, and that my technician, Nathan Estrada, who identifies himself as the owner's son, visits my service area only once a month and cannot provide anything beyond that. She offered to set up a visit in 3.5 weeks. I canceled my service and found a local company to come out the following day. When the new technician looked at the Atco bait boxes, he told me they had not been serviced in some time. Nathan had documented on my account that he serviced my property last week, including cleaning and rebaiting the boxes. The new tech showed me that there was no bait inside, and they were filled with cobwebs, empty snail shells and rodent droppings. His assessment was that mice entered my home because I was not receiving any pest control prevention outside (despite paying Atco for this service.) I called Atco to request a service fee refund, I sent them photos of the bait boxes and the new technicians's assessment, and every single person I spoke to - Spring in accounting and Stella in management - accused both me and the technician of lying. They refused to take accountability, refused to apologize, and told me that it was within the company's right to close the local office and not let me know. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I have had rodent problems on and off for years. The solution is too long to go into. But I had lots of crawl space work done by my contractor. I was using another pest control and they provided the poorest customer service possible. The rats are now under control but I want someone out monthly. My old company didnt respond to phone calls or show up monthly as requested. I called Atco. What a difference another company makes. My 90 tear old mother recently hired these folks to get rid of mice, charged about $400.00 to come out look for holes where mice may enter the home. Placed about 8 traps, wanted to charge an additional $300.00 to patch the wholes. I patched the holes for under $50.00 and one of the holes was not even a possible entry point because it was a space in the outside siding. no mice were caught, and the mice are still running around. In addition, Atco wanted $70.00 to come back and pick up their traps. read more

I discovered presumed mites in my apartment for which landlord contracted three treatments from ATCO. Each treatment done 10 days to 2 weeks apart made the insect population explode as I reported to landlord. They were supposed to identify the pest which they never did. Therefore they had no idea what the reproduction duration was. They ignored the details I provided. They missed finding bugs in their traps because they only checked two of a dozen. I was told they found no evidence of any insect infestation by my landlord. I found 5 different bugs on one of their traps immediately they missed entirely. They also missed seeing an entire line of large black dead bugs in the upper gasket of my freezer. They also failed to recognize the mite damage to all my plants. Because of their failures the landlord got a written pass to ignore my infestation which has remained unaddressed for going on ten months and continues to grow. Insects are embedded in all my ceilings, floors and walls. They were not knowlegable and have created a living hell for me getting bitten and scarred nightly and my dog needing daily topical medications. The new property manager has also taken a pass based on their "no evidence of infestation" report. Avoid this company. Their tech was a complete faillure. read more

I used these guys because a real estate agent referred me but now that I try to look them up I see that they are listed as a business that closed under a different address. STAY AWAY. OMG - heads up - don't use ATCO! 375 for first visit - for which they give you an estimate and set traps and return a few days later to pick up traps. 500 dollar estimate for 3 small openings! They can't guarantee work because houses are lined up next to each other so the only way to make sure critters stay away is to pay a100 per month maintenance contract, plus the 875. I shoulda been a mouse catcher. When I spoke to them originally they thought the cost for sealing the holes would be about 250 and that the service person doing the estimate would be able to do the work on the spot. Not true! Also tried to get my credit card number BEFORE they booked me an appointment. That should have been a warning sign. read more

We've been customers of Atco for some time. Unfortunately, their service has continuously degraded. We've used them for ant service, which has been so-so. In speaking with the technician, we hear a different excuse every time about why they can't keep ants out. Then, we used them for gopher control, which was not good at all. It wasn't until we got a new terrier who began hunting the gophers did we see any success. Then, we hired them to do rodent exclusion underneath our home. This has not worked at all. The rodents are still getting in, then dying underneath the house, causing horrendous odors. We continue to pay for monthly servicing of the traps, but the "warranty" they promised with the original contract has not been upheld. Now, they want additional money to seal some areas they missed on their first inspection (which we paid hundreds of dollars for). The worst thing is that they won't answer or return phone calls the first time around. If you wait for a return call, it will never happen. You have to leave multiple messages before you get a response (and I'm not talking about complaint calls, this is included for general services). read more

My apartment complex had a contract with them or I would never have let them come out on-site based on how I was treated by their commercial contract guy Matthew. He literally started accusing me of odd things on the phone and was yelling at me to the point where I had to hang up on him twice. It was a terrible experience. Also, when they did come out to spray, it was completely ineffective. Move on to another company if you can! I am updating my review based on the owners response. I now clearly see that this is a top down issue with management at Atco. Blaming my property management company for how Matthew acted directly towards me on both of my direct phone conversations is a tell all. I simply asked Matthew if Atco offered a service where one of their pest control people could come here to my apartment to help me figure out how the centipedes were entering before they sprayed. Matthew started yelling at me saying "if you are planning to send my pest control guy away once he gets there you had better tell me right now". My response was that I never said that nor would I ever do something like that but he kept going off on me to the point of where I had to disconnect both calls. It was a horrible experience and it's clear that the owner of this company is trying to shift the blame. If you are reading this, please move on to a different pest control company. Not just because of how you will potentially be treated but also because their treatment here did nothing to help with my problem at all. Smartly, my property management recently terminated their contract with Atco and so I was able to get a very thorough consultation from the new pest control company followed by a great treatment here at my apartment. read more

I used this company in 2017, to address gopher/mole issues in my yard and was very pleased with the results. The technician was amazing, reliable and very knowledgeable. Not unusual, the gophers returned this year. I contacted Atco again because I was so happy with the job done in 2017. This time was completely different and not good. The technician came on Aug 20, dug a small hole, placed poison gummy's in, placed a few lawn flags said someone would be back within a week. I haven't seen or heard from the company since and had no response from my email to the company. So for $210 I got a small hole in my yard, 4 lawn flags and gopher poison that I could have done myself read more

A friend and neighbor recommended Atco, after we found out we had a huge infestation of voles and gophers in our yard. We are backed up to open space, so we had to be mindful of not having any poison that could harm wildlife in the area. After several weeks, the problem is managed, and we are so happy. read more

The last reply I had from them was to say that they could do the plan and set traps for $295.
