We hired Atticare to come out and remove old insulation, sanitize, rodent proof, and install new insulation. Our rodent issue persisted, despite their warranty and coming back to our house to "seal entry points". Please save yourself thousands of dollars and DO NOT hire companies like this. They have no idea what they're doing regarding rodent proofing. They put a vapor barrier over dirt in our crawl space, which we later on learned makes no sense because rodents just burrowed right through it -- we needed a rat slab instead -- and they did nothing to mitigate the issue. After this awful experience, we had gotten estimates from three different companies and decided to go with Tamalpais Rodent Solutions based on a referral from a friend. Their estimate was higher than the other bids, but it was definitely worth it to finally have the problem resolved. Caitlin was always in communication, Tyler is super knowledgeable and really went through every nook and cranny of our home, and Hector, the concrete contractor, did an excellent job pouring through rat slab. We live in an area that backs up to open space and is prime breeding grounds for rats/rodents. We have had a few different companies come out to our house over the years and try and seal everything up with limited success. Tyler came out, assessed the situation, and clearly laid out what was needed and what the costs associated would be. It is very hard work, and very difficult, to do a complete exclusion on a house and get it completely sealed up, but Tyler was able to do what no other company had before. Even though we still have rat/rodent issues with all our vehicles we have to constantly keep up with, OUR HOME HAS BEEN RODENT FREE SINCE THEY DID THEIR WORK!! I just had Tyler come out after 6 months of work being done to do a check (& yes they do charge for this, but they are very clear about this upfront), and we are happy to see that there are no signs of rodents anymore in our crawl space or garage (or house for that matter). Rodents are smart, houses settle, and ways for them to get in over time always happens. I will gladly pay these folks to come out every 6 months to make sure there are no issues, and to address them if any are seen. Do not look any further, you have found the best solution to your past problem. Tyler and Kaitlin will take care of all your needs. First Tyler, sealed off all rat access points of entry.Then he set and returned to remove any dead rodents and rebait traps. He then removed all contaminated insulation and rat nesting places. They were bagged, removed and disposed of, in addition to vacuuming all rat feces and other debris. He then moved inside the house to vacuum and removed anything damaged by the rats. He continues to clean and repair any area where they were hiding. Soon. he will entirely clean my overstuffed garage then vacuum all rat feces and damaged items. When all is finished. which will be soon, he will fog, disinfect all areas contaminated by rodents. This ended up being a huge job, but it is almost complete. We contacted Tamalpais Rodent Solutions for a growing rat problem underneath our house. We had previously used another service to seal, etc. but it wasn't enough. Tyler came to check out the situation, and put us at ease that he could handle it. I thought my crawlspace was rat-free after a prior exclusion by another party, and that I just needed a "cleanup" of the insulation left behind. Tyler's very thorough inspection however revealed there were now unaddressed entry points and some current rat activity. He added screens, wire cloth barriers and addressed points where they were burrowing into the crawlspace, got rid of the damaged insulation (which filled many large trash bags), trapped the remaining intruders and fumigated the entire crawlspace. You can set traps, spray peppermint oil, hire exterminator companies, etc, but until you can really exclude the rodents from entering your premises, you won't be rid of them. I hate leaving this review because I had high hopes for working with this company. I have had bad experiences in the past with unscrupulous pest companies and did extensive research on who to work with. Based on their positive reviews, I went with Tamalpais Rodent Solutions. Tyler came to my house and did a thorough inspection and could not have been nicer. But after that, things went south. I tried repeatedly to have him come out and do the work he suggested. I contacted Caitlin several times via text and called Tyler and left a detailed voicemail. I never heard back. This journey started in November and ended in January, so I really gave it extra time understanding the holidays could cause some delays. But not even getting a callback or a response to my text is really not acceptable. Professional service - inspected the attic, sealed areas where the rodents were able to enter and set traps on the first call. We had the dreaded dead rat smell on us all of a sudden over the weekend and tried the "obvious" pest control services first thing on Monday. No Luck.
