I have been overdue for a haircut and was recommended here by a friend of a friend. DJ did a fantastic job. I explained what I wanted (maintain my length as much as possible, refresh my layers), showed him some pictures, and he went to work. He dry cut my hair first and then refined the cut after washing. He washed my hair thoroughly and gave a nice brief scalp and neck massage. I LOVED that he did that; at my last salon, the stylist spent maybe 10 seconds barely washing my hair. Pretty sure they didn't wash long enough to make it suds up, much less wash the oil and dry shampoo out of my roots. So I definitely appreciated DJ's thoroughness here. He went on to dry and style. The entire experience was great and I loved that he took his time to do an excellent job. If I had one minor comment, he used a little too much product during styling. Not a huge deal though. The salon was lovely, with high ceilings lots of natural light. The shampoo bowl was very comfortable to lay back in. I will definitely be back for my coloring needs! read more

Superb experience with DJ today. The space is very clean, organized, and well maintained. I was way overdue for a haircut and asked for a decent length cut. DJ worked with my natural hair partition and took his time making sure my layers were even all around. The scalp massage was such a treat, and my hair felt very clean afterwards. DJ is amazing. He knows exactly how to cut my curly hair, and does it slowly and precisely and cheerfully. I joke that it's like cutting a bonsai tree, when people cut curls properly. He cuts curls dry (of course), and it's interesting to watch him work. I just had my second visit with him today, and all I could say was...my hair looks exactly like ME. Exactly how it should. That feeling of yeah, ok, I feel CORRECT. And, of course, my curls look freaking fabulous. At my first visit, he understood exactly what I meant when I waved my hands around trying to describe my ideal hair shape, and didn't make fun of me for having hacked away at my curls myself for months. He just...fixed it. And it was great. He also has one of the new Dyson Supersonic blow dryers, which is ridiculously fast and elegant and left me with NEXT TO NO FRIZZ. First of all when I first began going to DJ, my hair was damaged from a serious illness that I had and my hair was finally growing back. DJ took my hair from drab and badly needing a good cut and styling to gorgeous and healthy. My curly hair has never looked this good.
