did the mealpal thing and ordered garlic chicken sandwich with fries - based on the picture in mealpal, I expected better. The fries had no toppings (as shown in the pic) and the sandwich was just meh. an hour later, my insides were very upset with me for eating. so, no more athena's for me, mealpal or otherwise. read more

I ordered the salad and I don't think these guys were really salad making folk. The lettuce was wet so the dressing slid right off into a soggy puddle on the bottom :( The other super annoying thing was that they had a radio station playing that wasn't tuned in. It was static. Always good and a nice change from the common fast food junk. Athena's replaced a burger joint with delicious, affordable, healthy, alternative. There gyros with seasoned meat is mouthwatering and generously portioned to fill any belly, the falafel is delightful and made absolutely perfect with the tzatziki sauce filling your mouth with every bite. If burgers and fries are your thing they have a great spin on an old favorite. It may take a few minutes longer but it is worth the wait believe me you won't be disappointed.... read more

I ate here when Athena's came to Olympia for the Food Truck Libby Day. I was highly disappointed. I ordered a gyro with fries inside. The gyro had a few "slices" of meat--it seemed too uniform in size and shape to have been shaved. Not to mention barely anything else inside. I could not taste any sauce. I paid an extra $1 for fries inside and literally received 5 fries! Would not recommend. read more

We hired Athena's to be one of the food trucks at our company's summer picnic this year which attracted nearly 600 people. This was one of the trucks that I was most excited about trying, and I wasn't the only one! It seemed like there was always a line to get food from them! We had their fries with gyro meat right on top and it was seriously one of the best things I've ever had in my life. The meat was so tender and tasty, the sauce just worked perfect, and the fries.... Don't go in expecting good quality and a traditional gyro. I stopped in a few weeks after their restaurant opened. It was dirty, the food took forever and was cold, and the cashier took a personal call as we walked up to the counter. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The food was cold, and I had a feeling I should've stopped elsewhere as I watched my food being prepared in the back. Another thing they so passionately advertise is their gelato. It's a powder they pick up from a restaurant supply store and throw into a machine. I find it sad that some people actually believe it's good. I came here with my friend for lunch and got there early because we wanted to beat the lunch rush. We both got the lamb gyro and while it was pretty good, we thought it was really small (most gyros i'm used to are full of veggies, meat and sauce). The gyro was flavored really well, their sauce was good. The meat was perfectly cook (not well done) and there was really good seasoned veggies but it was quite sparce. We certainly wouldn't get full off of one. read more

I tried the beef gyro at the Uwajimaya Food Truck Roundup in Renton. $7 got you a decent sized gyro. It came with grilled onions (which I didn't like because it overpowered the flavor of the beef, veggies, and Tzatziki sauce). It could have had more feta cheese on it. read more

Underwhelming for my first visit. I ordered the Greek salad looking forward to something different for lunch. The salad is advertised as coming with tzatziki sauce, Kalamata olives, and feta. It came with very little feta (I can only see some crumbs), a few olives, and NO tzatziki sauce at all. The salad is just a bunch of lettuce with a vinaigrette dressing. The lamb was good, which is why I gave them two stars. I may give them another shot, but with so many food trucks around, they need to step up their game. read more

The Athena's Food Truck was one of about 12 that showed up for Redmond's So Bazaar this Thursday evening. Two of us just had a falafel & a chicken gyro. Both were the worst we ever had (and we have had a lot of gyros). No tomatoes, no onions, a few olives, lettuce that was not well chopped, and their 'special' tzatziki sauce was special for sure.....so thin that it looked like it had been watered down & literally poured out the bottom of the gyro! Didn't get to eat much of that so can hardly comment on the flavor. Flavoring of the chicken was so-so. The falafel was not bad, not overly dry, but way too much in relation to the (lack of) salad. If you decided to eat there despite this review, ask for way more than 3 napkins. Three will never be enough sop up the mess. read more

Long wait to order and get food - unpardonable for a gyros joint. (way) Underdone falafels. Freezer burned lettuce (read: not fresh!). Generic fries (frozen?). Frozen meats, at least for the Lamb\Beef and Chicken. they have a vertical gyro cone roaster but did not use it for my visit. prefab slabs o "gyro" meat and precut frozen chicken were cooked on the flat top. I was so sad when Zippy's changed locations . This last weekend my sadness was dismissed the only thing better than a damn fine burger is a freakin great felafel& they filled that hole . I kinda like this place. I want to see it succeed. I have never seen the owners there. Lots of different employees. With that, the food has been inconsistant. Sometimes it's great, like the first time I ate there and had the lamb burger, and others it's dry and terrible, like the last time I had their Zeus burger when they gave me an extra patty but unfortunately they were both dry and not the bun was soggy and falling apart :(. When the place first opened I was super excited, and then even more so when they started serving beer. I am still excited about this, though last time they were all out apparently. I think if the owners were working there more and insuring consistancy they would do better. I'll give them another try. In a few weeks maybe. read more

I stumbled upon this place looking for a different restaurant. Unfortunately I ended up ordering the Zeus Burger, which was a struggle to eat; over-priced and meager in size. It was finished with a bacon jam which was absolutely atrocius. In retrospect I should've ordered a gyro which seems to be their most popular item. So you have been warned, this is not the place to get a edible burger. However, what salvaged the two-star rating was the Golden Graham shake. read more

I work in SLU where I discovered Athena's food truck. I love chicken slouvakis, and so of course I had to try it. IT WAS MAD DELICIOUS. The chicken was tasty, juicy and big chunks. I love feta and tzatziki sauce, which was generously poured on. And fresh greens to top it off made it the perfect lunch. It was huge!! Totally got my money's worth. I thought I would eat half, and take the rest home for dinner. But I couldn't stop eating it. I am totally addicted to these great morsels of Heaven, and I'm so happy that I was able to found this truck. I watch from my window whenever they are in the hood, and can't wait to get down there to get my pita sandwich. The Greek fries ... YUM. Real potatoes. Lots of feta and txatziki sauce, It was the best. But even more bester was the wonderful friendly service from the vendors in the truck.
