Yalla is a walk up window slinging unbelievably delicious Palestinian food. I went on a gorgeous Saturday just after 12PM and there was no line, but it looked like they were packing some take out orders. The signature saj bread is cooked fresh on a hot stone and is almost like a Middle Eastern flour tortilla with the way it's super thin and satisfyingly chewy bite. The only seating options are a few large benches on the sidewalk, but there's a poster saying you're welcome to sit at the neighboring bar which opens in the late afternoon provided you purchase a drink as well. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. I got a build-my-own saj wrap with the mushroom base saj $6, sumac chicken $7, tomato $1.5, cucumber $1.5, pickled turnip $1, and a side of hot sauce $2. The saj bread itself tasted good, but got soaked through by the juice of the chicken and became very soggy. We walked to a park 10 minutes away to eat the wraps and the wraps were bending. The ingredients are fresh but nothing particularly stood out. I didn't quite taste the mushroom on the wrap, and on top of that, I got charged $2 for the hot sauce, but never tasted it in the wrap or found it on the side. From looking at the menu, I haven't seen too many of the items listed offered here in Seattle. This was exciting to me as I enjoy food from the Middle Eastern part of the world, and the entrees do look very enticing! We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. My wife and I visited on our way to the Elysian Brewery, getting some food before sampling beers. The staff were very friendly to us and other patrons while ordering and waiting for food to be prepared. There are a few small benches just outside the restaurant to sit on if dining there. I ordered the falafel saj, my wife got the halloumi grilled cheese, and we shared a side of the Egyptian hot sauce and fermented chili paste. The halloumi grilled cheese was nice and salty, but a little pricey for the portion. The falafel wrap, on the other hand, was fantastic and a great value. For a quintessential Capitol Hill lunch, walk up to the Yalla stand for a Saj roll. You're all but guaranteed to take away an arm-length-long wrap stuffed with a blend of flavorful ingredients. I like the simplicity of the veggie wraps, which feature different combinations of greens and tomatoes with zataar, labneh, and olive oil. Most recently, I got the fityr and labneh with an added chicken thigh that soaked up the flavor of the roasted mushroom and yogurt spreads. The batinjan (eggplant) and labneh wrap here has now taken its place in my pantheon of best eggplant bites I've ever had. Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! I have been here a couple of times and very pleased. This is kind of a small place where they serve outside the door, but they create really delicious food. This time I had the hummus and the Haloumi grilled cheese. No surprise the hummus is really great. I think it may be thinner that what most are used to, but has great flavor. I waited like 10 minutes for the food and it was well worth it. There is ALOT on the menu, so I asked the waiter what was good for pescatarians and he said the falafel wrap. The waiter was very hospitable which is something we love to see! Now for the food, the wrap I got had so much flavor. Everything complimented everything else and the falafel itself was top notch. Yalla is a solid spot for saj sandwiches and wraps. What stood out to me the most was the level of customization they offer. Another small suggestion would be to add a few outdoor tables. I understand the concept is more geared toward grab-and-go, which is completely fine, but having even two or three small tables outside would make it more convenient for customers who want to enjoy their food right away. I got a zaatar and cheese wrap (should've taken photos but I was probably just too shocked!). It was extremely oily which I'm hoping is just a one off. I literally feel bloated and nauseous till now because of how oily the Saj was. It killed all flavors. The saj bread itself is delicious though. So many friends recommended this place, so I'm assuming someone accidentally added way too much oil in my saj? We got assorted mezze and flatbread to eat it with - there were a couple of special dip/spread/mezze options in the mix that day, and the flavors were amazing, with key ingredients eggplant, pomegranate pips, olives, and something with a nice spicy kick! I've had their meaty wraps on previous visits and they're always delicious. I'm not much of a falafel buff, my vegetarian spouse is - we both agreed that Yalla's was excellent though. I am such a sucker for good saj bread. I loved seeing so many vegan and vegetarian options, we decided to order the Falafel with saj and it exceeded my expectations. The only thing is the ordering system is a little confusing, I paid extra for hot sauce and then saw that the wrap already comes with hot sauce. Enough sauce but not overwhelming. Not so stuffed full that it was a challenge to eat while walking. Enough to fill you up but not overeat. I could go on. Cooked fresh. The bread was wonderfully done - with great flavor and texture. The meat was super yummy with spices that tasted pretty unique.
