When stopping by the local Family Donut shop, I noticed that Gyro Sababa has been an interesting option that is well liked by the community to check out, and I am glad that I was able to stop by to try out this restaurant! We went on a Saturday around dinner time (7pm) and were able to get a table. The restaurant itself is located on a small shopping block, and there are about 5-10 parking spots total at the front of the shops. I can see it being a bit difficult to come in from the Meridian ave street as you may get grouped up with the people wanting to turn left. Service is decently fast and responsive, and ordering is done at the cashier and they will bring the food out to you. By default, there isn't a water machine/dispenser, and we didn't automatically get water - we had to request it from the service workers and then they would bring it out to us in a small plastic cup. The ambiance is definitely fast casual as only a select few people stayed behind to eat their order and majority of people left. I got the number 16, which is the beef and lamb kabab platter ($20). At a first glance, it looks like there is a decent amount of food on the platter, but if you are really hungry, this still may not be enough as 60% of the plate is basically just hummus, yogurt, and some light salad. You may need to order an additional appetizer/dessert afterwards to get full. The kabab has a nice hearty and meaty texture, though it is a lot more dryer than other kababs that I have tried in the Seattle area. The hummus is good - very smooth and helps with the dryness of the kabab, and acts as a nice glue between the rice and the kabab. I personally wasn't wowed by the plate, but I think if you are looking to scratch that Mediterranean itch - this restaurant has got you covered. Price-wise, I think that this place does lean on the pricier side as I have seen these dishes at comparable restaurants for $2-3 less that what they offer here, and combo platters at other places being the price of a singular meat option here. There does seem to be a couple of other options on the menu that seemed pretty interesting, that I would definitely try if I was back at Gyro Sababa in the future. read more

I ordered a chicken shawarma & Greek fries for pick up. I ate it immediately after pick up and already noticed the meat didn't taste or smell fresh. The fries were also a very small portion for $10 and it looks like they tried to put a bunch of sauce on it in attempt to make it look like a larger portion. Later that night, I started to feel very ill and I threw up , so I definitely won't be back. I think this place used to be shawarma time, which is a shame because I liked shawarma time and not this new place :( read more

I had the gyro salad, they heat up the gyro meat for me because making the salad in front of me. I love that you put the special garlic paste and the yogurt salad dressing in opposite corners of the salad so I can taste both of them separately. It was so fresh and yummy. We shared a lamb/beef gyro platter ($18) and ordered extra pita (I believe $1.25/50 each?) and tzatziki sauce ($1.25) which was enough food for the two of us due to the amount of rice that came with it. The platter came with gyro meat over rice, a small side salad and a dollop of hummus. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tasty and the star of the show for me. The extra tzatziki was portion was very small though (a little ketchup container's worth). We aren't big eaters so this was enough for the two of us to finish completely. Open rather late, and convenient to the UW campus as well as the nearby hotels, this place is a godsend. Great food, quick service, and a no-nonsense vibe inside with quick counter service. We put an order in here online and they cooked everything fresh - they actually apologized because the order wasn't ready, when the reality was I simply got there faster than what the website showed my order would be ready. My entire family ate at Gyro Sababa a few days ago after shopping at Costco. A modest but well lit, clean place. I presume it was the owners who were behind the counter. Both were friendly, patient, polite and efficient. I had the king shawarma with chicken wrap, three others had that wrap with lamb-beef gyro meat instead. Those three can be critical of restaurant food but really loved their sandwiches. My wife had the gyro shawarma wrap, less expensive but very tasty. I will order this next time. Prices are very reasonable. This is type of small restaurants I like. I don't know if it's a chain or not but it certainly didn't feel like it. We definitely will be back. Open for over 1.5 years, it's located in a small strip mall west of I-5 on Northgate Way, next door to Family Donut. Shared parking lot is tight, but I managed to find a spot. Amazed how the gentleman behind the counter was totally non-plussed and chill working solo, taking and prepping orders, and mostly takeout for the start of lunch rush. After glancing at overhead menu, I opted for the #9 Shawarma Plate and tap water. I was later handed a tray with grilled lamb slices (passed on beef or chicken) with garlicky sauce atop a generous serving of rice. This also was served with a small salad, hummus, and warm pita. I remained onsite versus most folks opting for takeout. There is a few two and four tops for indoor seating. I ate everything except for my pita which I took home with me. Generous, flavorful servings. I still have that garlicky aftertaste which is a plus for me. Driven past a gazillion times, glad I made this spontaneous detour. Food is made to order so it can take some time but it is worth the wait. Meats are well seasoned and cooked, everything is packed with fresh ingredients and flavor. My favorite part is the variety and freshness of vegetables. My go to order is the Shawarma King Wrap with Chicken. The lentil soup is also perfect for the cold winter weather. The fries are actually the weakest item Ive had, they can be soggy and there are so many other excellent options for sides. They offer a wide range of beverages as well to fit your pallet. This is one of the only three Greek places I've ever enjoyed in the whole Snohomish and king county. Our food took a little while, but I always get chicken kebab, so it usually takes a while. What I liked was that they offered a lot of options on the menu, and they offered taiziki and tahini with everything as well as hummus. I got the Mazzini veggie platter, chicken kebab platter, gyro dish platter, pistachio baklava, a drink, and an extra side of garlic sauce. In total it was $68.27, which included tax and a "transaction charge". However, Greek food is usually on the expensive side. Typically at my favorite spot close to my house, I get a lot more chicken in my chicken kebab plate, but it's fine, still tasty. read more
