I had physical therapy here three to two times a week for a couple of months and had a great experience! My pain got so much better even after just a few sessions. Everyone was so nice and I primarily met with Josuf and Megan J. It was easy to schedule and they had very good availability! I've been here twice, for recovery from meniscus repair surgery and from ankle sprain/fracture. I'm very happy with the therapeutic care and with the place, which is light filled and pleasant to come to, and also has free parking in the building's garage. Athletico is poor at handling billing, however: the billing office is very slow, and it double bills for appointments you've already paid for weeks before. I've just gotten my second repeat bill. Where to begin... I had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! I injured my right ankle twice (Oct 2013 & Feb 2018). In January 2019, I finally sought treatment. I was diagnosed with a peroneal tendon injury and a low-lying peroneus brevis muscle. I immediately started 6 weeks of physical therapy to hopefully avoid surgery or further injury, and to relieve the intense pain and swelling I'd been dealing with for years. My ankle swelled over my shoe every day and throbbed 24/7. Gross. Katie Albright is my physical therapist, and she is AMAZING! At my first appointment, I had an evaluation and immediately got started with some manual work (the deep tissue and scraping stuff isn't always fun, but it sure was needed - by the end, it didn't hurt much!) and learned my at-home exercises. In the sessions that followed, I also got to work with Megan Callahan, a super talented physical therapy assistant who killed me every time with creative exercises! I had so much fun with these two. They're both so kind and funny, and they made my sessions very enjoyable. Two weeks in, I no longer experienced pain. By the end, I felt like I had a new ankle. This was crazy to me given how horrible it felt for years before seeking treatment. At my 6-week follow up with the ankle specialist, she was shocked by my progress. The "cankle" was gone, the pain was gone, and I could finally exercise and move throughout my day normally. My ankle and hip strength have greatly improved, I have much more stability and balance in both ankles, and I learned so many great exercises to continue doing after therapy ended. I still do my at-home exercises every day. I can't forget to thank Jordan and Beata ("B") for guiding me (aka torturing me at times) through my exercises. They're both super kind, helpful and fun to interact with. Also, many thanks to Lakeisha who was always there to greet me with a smile (when I came for morning appointments) and answer any insurance questions I had. This location is great - the staff work really well together and it's a fun atmosphere. I felt very well taken care of by Katie and the rest of the team. I will definitely come back if I'm ever in need of therapy again - or maybe just to visit, because I miss everyone! :) read more

I received post operative physical therapy before and after two knee replacements from the team at this Athletico over the last four years. I am just now receiving therapy for my second knee replacement. The therapists are very knowledgeable, skillful and caring. They listened to me and made sure I was getting what I needed from the treatment. I can highly recommend Jordan Thieme and Megan Callahan who provided my most recent care. The PT assistants were also caring and skilled in providing their support. The staff work well together--there is a real sense teamwork. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I am convinced that the PT was instrumental in recovery from knee surgery. read more

The best of the best. I am able to still be a fully functional professional despite my disabling cobdition thanks to the dedicated and unconditional support of the entire staff at this location. Katie, Jordan, Mike and Megan are all equally competent and professional, as well as the entire staff. I can only say my Therapist Megan has healing hands and always a trick on her sleeve when things are not as well. In a nutshell, my extended family in Chicago. This place SUCKS. If i could give 0 stars, I would. (Yelp should make that an option for places like these) First off, I go there to get physical therapy for back pain. Instead of helping me, they make the situation worse by forcibly manipulating my body through pulled stretches and manipulation. I understand that you have to build the muscle up, massage it, etc, but what they were doing was NOT helpful for my case at all so I stop going for a hot minute. Through just resting and daily walking with light stretches, my back started to progressively get better without going to this Athletico. I was able to stand, walk, do certain yoga poses again, etc.. I get to a point, on my own, where I don't need ibuprofen or muscle relaxants anymore to get through the day. As per my doctor's guidance to just finish my sessions, I go back to this place. Of course, what do they do? Fuck up my back again to the point I can barely walk or stand up straight because of their lack of knowledge of what they're actually doing through forcing and contorting my body by putting their own body weight against mine to "stretch my muscle because it's tight". I tell them they put me back to square one and you know what I was told? "You should still be on medication". No. I shouldn't be back to day one when I visit for physical therapy. They do more harm than good. Second, the therapist tells me "oh, we checked and your insurance will cover everything. You get a free amount of times when ordered by your doctor to go to physical therapy. " So what would anyone expect? To NOT receive a bill months later that you owe them money. They're absolutely ridiculous. I even asked them multiple times if ALL of it was covered for sure. Asked if there was a copay or anything so I could just start paying then instead of receiving a large bill. PLEASE BE AWARE YOU WILL BE CHARGED $50 EACH TIME FOR THEM TO PUT A WARM/COLD TOWEL ON YOUR BACK FOR 10 MINUTES. Instead, they LIE and I receive a large bill. This place is a waste of space in Hyde Park and not worth going to. The therapists are idiots, they won't give you their undivided attention despite you SCHEDULING for that timeframe, and they will say what they want to get you to come back and take your money. The physical therapists in North Chicago are way better. The only pro I have is the therapists' workers (the ones that help the therapists) are nice. Please save yourself the trouble by not going here. Don't waste your time, your efforts, your body, or your money. It's definitely a lesson learned for me. read more

Athletico was the second PT establishment I used for a difficult to heal Achilles tendon issue. I was assigned a professional therapist (Julie), who stayed with me all through the treatment, doing all the massages with an instrument which I believe was helpful in healing. I felt we developed a good relationship, friendly and sometimes personal. This seemed generally the case with the staff; this branch office is very client oriented, avoiding the in-shop chat that so often goes on in such establishments. I was less impressed with the exercise portion of the protocol. They seemed haphazard not very diverse and did not change as the treatment went on. I could have done them all at home. I had to change appointment times twice to accommodate staff issues, but they were fairly easy to adjust to. This branch is currently fairly small, not packed with clients. which made for a relaxed and personalized experience. Best of all, I ended up paying significantly less for an identical protocol (so far as I could tell) at Athletico versus the other establishment. I also made significant progress on the problem I was there for. Recommended. read more
