Prior to authorizing a down payment, I confirmed with dealership staff that the total purchase price would equal the advertised price. After I provided written authorization for a refundable deposit contingent upon an independent inspection, the dealership introduced additional mandatory dealer-imposed fees totaling $1,245, including documentation, administrative, and reconditioning charges. These fees were not disclosed in the advertised price and were required in order to complete the transaction. Imagine, the dealership was trying to add on charges after the fact from them cleaning the car to sell! When I objected and requested that the dealership honor the advertised price inclusive of mandatory dealer fees, communication ceased on their end, not returning my messages. The vehicle was temporarily listed as pending and later relisted at a higher price on their site. Although no funds were processed, this conduct raises concerns regarding advertised price transparency and disclosure of mandatory dealer charges in direct violation of Georgia anti bait-and-switch laws. *UPDATE AFTER COMPANY RESPONSE*: As clearly admitted by the company, they completely agree with my entire review. Their made up bait-and-switch fees (such as attempting to add on a charge for cleaning the car) were told to me AFTER I had asked them for the total and provided written authorization (per their instructions) for a charge to my credit card based on that total, out-the-door price. Attempting to keep this original review brief, I left off many details. But here is another point which others should know: since I was buying from out of state, I wanted a dealer pre-inspection (of which I was going to pay from out of my own pocket). I started my search for a GX550 two months ago. I had deposits at 3 different dealerships, each one telling me it would be after the first part of 2027 before what I wanted came in. Enter Tyler and Hennessy. He calls me 3 weeks after putting my deposit down, telling me someone backed out of a Premium Plus trim and it's mine, it will be in at the end of July. Yes! I (not the brightest move of my life) called and cancelled my other deposits. I was so excited! It gets here, he texts me pictures and we make plans for me to I go in the following day to pick it up. I arrive at my scheduled time, and Tyler takes me back to look at my car. He tells me they applied ceramic and tint and it is ready to go! My heart immediately sank. You see, I had been in there 7 weeks prior looking at a different trim level. When I sat down with finance, my out the door price was $10k more than what I was expecting. Why is this? Ceramic, tint, and other add ons they were expecting to put on. After some talk, I walked away from that one because the numbers didn't add up and it wasn't until I got home and was talking to my husband these add ons put me way out of my price range. Back to this past Friday, after I was told all the add ons were already applied, I was optimistic this was just a thank you (ok, so I was a bit naïve). I sat with finance. $10k over what I thought I was going to pay. No warning. I told them no. I wasn't paying this. They told me it's a luxury vehicle and it needed the protection. Yes. However, that should be in my terms, not yours. I already had an appointment with a local shop for under $2k. They told me to splurge, they told me in the whole total, what's an extra $10k. They gaslit me into doubting my out the door numbers were severely incorrect. Look at me like I am crazy when I was $10k off my final numbers. No sirs. You all are taking advantage of people (or not, maybe some people don't care). I finally asked for my car keys. 3 times. They followed me out, still telling me basically how dumb I was for walking out because these vehicles are in such high demand. I left feeling confused, but knew I could get back in these waitlists at other dealerships. This is not a I need now. I have time, and I am in no rush. Anyway, on my wayhome I called my husband some friends about my dramatic experience and game planned to call the other local dealerships the next morning. No worries. The next morning I received the attached email my salesman. Tyler, I am sorry that losing that sale made you so upset you had to email me the next morning . I am not sad. I did not lose out on my "dream car" (ps - not my dream car, I never said that). I just saved myself $10k plus not signing for that car at your dealership. Next time, maybe you all will be upfront that you are not allowed to refuse those services. Maybe you should add that to the sticker. Maybe you should be more upfront when you talk price. Within two days of acquiring my 2024 Volkswagen Jetta, I was compelled to bring the vehicle in due to an "engine service soon" alert. The vehicle's performance declined, and I encountered an error message stating P0010: Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1), indicating an electrical fault or failure with the camshaft adjuster valve. Consequently, I contacted EchoPark, and Orlando in the service department advised me to proceed to the Volkswagen dealership, given that the vehicle has only 48,000 miles and remains under warranty. Accordingly, I took the vehicle to Autonation in Buford, Georgia, on May 12. The vehicle was received on May 7, and the issues commenced on May 9. As part of my plans to visit Autonation, I was informed I would take an Uber to EchoPark after dropping off the vehicle. However, it took nearly two hours before I received assistance in arranging the rideshare. I interacted with at least five different staff members, none of whom were aware of the situation. Eventually, I spoke with Assistant General Manager Talon, who was exceedingly helpful and assisted me in reaching EchoPark. I waited at EchoPark for over an hour and was provided with a loaner vehicle as compensation for the inconvenience. Talon attempted to explore options for acquiring a different vehicle through the financing bank; however, the requirements for the vehicle I desired were more stringent. I subsequently decided against the Volkswagen due to the need for maintenance shortly after purchase. Since then, I have contacted Talon via phone and text messages without receiving any response. As of today, May 29, my vehicle has been in service since May 12, and no one, including Talon, has contacted me since May 15, despite multiple calls and messages. Rod in Sales called me and let me know my vehicle is ready to be picked up and arranged a rideshare as I returned the loaner. I am currently paying for a vehicle I have only possessed for five days, at a high interest rate. I also contacted EchoPark corporate, engaging with several agents and personnel, who ultimately provided minimal assistance and offered little follow-up despite my requests for a callback to discuss alternative options. This situation is entirely unacceptable and constitutes poor business conduct. I am disheartened by how EchoPark has managed this problem, especially considering its simplicity to resolve. Nevertheless, I would like to acknowledge the exemplary service provided by Rod, the Service Manager, or Sales Manager. His professionalism and dedication were outstanding and deserve recognition, potentially in the form of a raise or promotion. Although EchoPark did provide a loaner vehicle--an act of kindness--it does not mitigate the inconvenience caused nor the manner in which this matter has been handled. Management should have been more proactive in addressing this issue, maintaining constant communication, and seeking solutions that benefit both the customer and the organization. The total without labor in the picture is shown. The total with labor was over $5k for a vehicle I just purchased. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF YOUR VEHICLE PURCHASE. Thank God mine was under warranty. EchoPark you guys need to do better and compensate me for this major problem.
