We recently used this company for our house inspection and during the inspection period leading up to closing everything seemed fine. They pointed out some obvious issues and whatnot and we acted accordingly leading up to closing. After closing, our cable installer opened the attic and immediately noticed that there were rat droppings and evidence of infestation. We called out pest control who then confirmed that this was a persistent and long standing infestation of roof rats which were there prior to the inspection period. There were pictures provided in the initial inspection report showing that the inspector did indeed inspect the attic and failed to disclose any pest issues whether it be the clear and obvious evidence of rats as well as evidence of termites. I then tried to contact them and get some financial recourse due to this obvious oversight and clear failure and their response i have attached which is clearly intended to waive any of their responsibility. They claim that the scope of the inspection did not cover pests however when there is such obvious evidence immediately visible within the attic opening they deliberately omitted this information. This behavior is clearly negligent. If you quickly glance through the other reviews of this company you will see that their business model is to nickel and dime you for specific services and take zero responsibility for their inspection reports. I personally would expect better business practices and accountability and would never use this company ever again. I have also used other companies who do a much more thorough job, are cheaper, and offer more comprehensive services regarding pest, water damage, etc... Let this be a warning to anyone considering this company that you can expect a subpar job, no accountability, and to overpay. read more

So we did complete one as we have small children. No conversation was had on consideration for a termite inspection BECAUSE THEY DO NOT OFFER THAT SERVICE. I wish there was a no star rating! I was told this is a great company to catch serious issues with the house I'm buying...what a joke! To begin with, the inspector did a mold inspection where the only thing they found was few mold spores in the air. They recommended a remediation company that suspected the mold is from outside, maybe coming though the sliding doors. After closing, I called someone else for second opinion, to find I have 3 completely wet walls in the house that neither the inspector detected ( i guess moisture meters are not a tool common in inspections ( take it as sarcasm)) or their remediation company. we now have to remove 3 dry walls, do the remediation and wall repairs. Then they flagged minor movement of the pool deck with picture of couple tiny cracks, just for us to discover we have about 4ft of deck edge completely dislocated( hiding a giant crack in the pool wall) - huge hazard, that almost crumbled under our feet and will cost us thousands of dollars to repair. And this was visible to us as non trained eye. Also no mention of tens of cracks along the walls and windows allowing moisture in. I paid $1100 for a this inspection and feel I got robbed big time! I have no words for this than stay away. read more

We have hired Atlantic building inspections for first Inspection of our new home . The inspector did a very bad job. There were soo many issues in the house but the inspector just checked the appliances and said everything is fine and left. We found soo many issues in the house, there were cracks on the walls inside and outside of the house. Few plug points were not working , and couple of them are broken . Stay away from Atlantic Building Home inspection. We had a bad experience with Atlantic Building Inspections! When I filled out a bad evaluation somebody called and promised to review the inspection and get back to us. He never did. I waited a couple of weeks and contacted the company's President. Only to get an arrogant response and a really bad attitude, instead of a willingness to help. To name an example we found out we have 94 broken tiles on our roof! The President's response was that they don't count tiles. Shouldn't they have raised a red flag? Go for Allied, or any other of the reputable inspection companies. read more

This experience was frustrating from the very beginning! When I tried to make the reservation, it wouldn't accept my information. I called the following day and spent almost 30 minutes on the phone with Atlantic trying to resolve the issue. Their representative finally said, "Contact your bank or American Express... something is wrong with your card." She then paused and said, "Oh, we don't accept Amex." Totally aggravating and unnecessary when that should have been made very clear from the beginning, and certainly a known issue for an employee. The inspection itself went fine and I paid for an additional mold test on top of the $800 I already spent. After that, it became EXTREMELY difficult to have anyone answer my questions. I texted. I emailed. I left voicemails. It took me 3 days to get an inspector to finally call me back to discuss the results. I shared these results with an industrial hygienist who was very concerned about the method of sampling. No outdoor sample was made for a comparison, which he explained is like speeding but without having anything to compare it to the numbers are meaningless. No samples were taken in either bedroom, where one had visible issues with the ceiling. I ultimately paid for another company to come in and do a proper mold inspection. The second company found TOXIC MOLD in the bedroom that Atlantic did not detect! Both realtors involved in the transaction were a bit surprised how unprofessional Atlantic was and I certainly would not recommend them to anyone. read more
