Very reasonable prices, helpful worker behind the counter, and a huge selection of raw seafood as well as everything you need to make your own boil. (Spices, sauces, etc) They even had a little supply of vegetables by the cash register. There were tons of fish I have never even heard of that were freshly caught right here in Jacksonville! The lobster turned out good! I grilled it with a butter, lemon, garlic, chive white wine marinade. Also feels good to support local businesses. This was the large $44 lobster tail which seemed a little expensive but it was humongous. I defrosted in water in the fridge and it took about two hours to defrost. This is my first large lobster tail. I have to say, the small to mid tails are definitely sweeter with more flavor. I'd recommend going that route instead of dropping this much coin on the big one. Still it was pretty good and paired up nicely with my ribeye and a nice bottle of Napa Cabernet... and had a nice presentation. read more

5 stars for the customer service. The gentleman behind the seafood counter offered to give me a tour of the facilities. Well, I've been to hundreds of fish markets (I'm from Savannah) but I said ok and glad I did. He was extremely knowledgeable and engaging which made me feel very welcome. We ordered steamed shrimp and a fish dinner. The shrimp was fresh but the cocktail sauce wasn't spicy enough. The fish needed more seasoning. But I still I still give 5 stars. Next time I may get some raw fish and cook with garlic, butter and lemon. Oh the prices are quite reasonable. Try it yourself. Sorry, no pics. I ate it all. read more

Bought a pound of what I thought was "fresh" jumbo lump blue crab meat from North Carolina for $43.00. No way it was fresh. Lid was mismatched from the rest of container and the Mexico box was checked on the side (fresh from Mexico??). Meat was certainly lump, but didn't seem like authentic blue crab - seemed liked pasteurized in a fresh container. Reminded me of the tasteless Sams Club Indonesian "swimming crab" stuff that I don't buy anymore. Saw a bunch of weird stuff in the freezer including this same "fresh" crab meat container so shame on me for not just walking out. read more

I have been a customer of this business for a few years. I do somewhat agree with the other posters in reference to the service. It is not like that everday and my latest experiences have been great. The employees are helpful and quick to get your order out to you. Seafood is fresh and choices are plentiful. Only once did they not have what I was looking for. called the other day and a woman answered the phone. I was asking her some questions and partially through the question she was rude and abrupt and yelled at me to hold on. i heard her talking to a customer and ringing them up. i waited for awhile and she continued to ignore me and talking to other people. we buy fish, crab, gumbo and other seafood twice a week. i ran two companies and if i ever had anyone treat a customer like i was treated they would be fired. i this person is the owner they need to go to a customer service class or work in the kitchen or take out the trash. this type of person is abusive and if they talk to me like this they are probably abusing their employees. no matter how good the seafood is the way i was treated was deplorable. there are other seafood places i can go to or call that won't be so rude. if this continues they probably won't be in business for long. i have seen this happen to other companies. eventually people will see and hear the abuse and stop coming. time for new management or some training. their seafood is great however the treatment i received was terrible. no excuses.notice other reviews mention the yelling and screaming also. i guess they don't read the reviews or take them seriously. they better because most people will not leave a review and just walk away. read more

If the short brown haired lady that sits at the register and barks commands is there be blunt and short with her. Her parents must've not spanked her properly when she was a kid. Besides her and her mom that RELIGIOUSLY checks your ID and signature and address and Facebook status when you pay with a credit card. The seafood does it's job and I've had no complaints regarding the harvest. I love going to this market just so I can be rude and use my mouth to say smart comments because I know I'm going to be subjected to her wrath. We bought some live Maine lobsters from here and they were fab. The head on shrimp were amazing and the price is great as well...3lb for $20. The reason I couldn't give five stars is because of the smell. I know, I know it is a seafood market, but I have been in many seafood markets cause I looovvveeee seafood and most of them do not smell half as bad as this place. I will continue shopping here, but I will probably set a record for holding my breath for a long period of time. read more

The team at Atlantic Coast Seafood are helpful and provide lots of information on how to prepare the seafood, if you take time to ask they will help you out by understanding where the food came from, the best way to store it, what you might replace a seafood with in case they are out and much more information. We have always been happy at Atlantic Coast Seafood. The seafood is fresh and I can always depend on them. I truly believe that we get excellent customer service and a good fresh seafood. As with any small business, we often are subject to the personalities of the people who run the business. I take this opportunity to understand what makes them tick, these guys are fishermen and family members of fishermen and family members operating an independent business which happens to be a fish store. They don't go for seminars such as Steven Covey and other authors who provide training to corporations. They just do the best they can to get by. That means slinging fish, weighing fish, cleaning up fish waste, smelling fish all day, ordering food, dealing with the waste of products that don't sell and balancing the finances. I take the personality of the let me see person serving me and look at the circumstances surrounding that person. But I also consider the other people who work there and would never consider not going because of my interaction with one person. Try going down to the docks and talking to the fisherman, they're salty! But they are real people. They usually are of few words and very rarely doctor it up so that our feelings don't get hurt. They might not be our best friend but they deliver what we are there for. It's a fish store and they sell darn good fish. They are dependable and reputable. I travel 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back to get to them because they are worth it. read more

I can only speak to the quality of the blue crabs at Atlantic Seafood Market. You can call ahead your order and pay over the phone. So when you pick up, you can be in and out pretty quickly. You can specifically request all male crabs (yum). While the crabs are not as big as some other places we've ordered from, they are consistently good. I do always peek at the other seafood selection and they have an appetizing selection. read more

have been going there on occasions for years. If you ask a legit question, you will be screamed at and talked down to by mother and daughter. Sometimes they can be ok, but you cannot ask or comment about anything. I bought boiled crabs that were dead when cooked because they were mushy and could not be eaten. I didn't return them, but the next time I went I mentioned it to the mother and she flipped out on me. I am from New Orleans and my dad was a crabber, so I know what was sold to me. Another time I went in and there were crawfish on display. I planned on buying some and wanted to check them out. I attempted to pick one up and DAUGHTER flipped out on me. Today I asked for female crabs for She Crab soup and Daughter went nuts and screamed about not being able to guarantee gender! I left...their crabs are usually small and light as hell anyway. I absolutely love this market and the people. If they come across harshly it is only because they run a tight ship. They want to be sure everything is done right and to the highest quality. The seafood is always fresh and place is super clean and everyone is so helpful. Especially if you need a recommendation on how to prepare something they always have great suggestions.
