We love this place, we had lived in Newport since 2003 and we would go there almost every weekend for breakfast. The signature dish you can only get on the weekends (Sat and Sun) is the egg benedict. Jason had tons of benedict throughout the east coast, no one can ever master the hollandaise Atlantic grill does. I also love their Atlantic beach chicken wrap, the best chicken wrap I have ever had. The omelette are very good as well, and decently priced. I also love their fruit covered waffles. They have a healthy fruit bowl with yogurt and granola, also refreshing. You have to go there before 11 on the summer, otherwise, the wait is always very long! Definitely recommend trying out the place for breakfast. read more

This place is really great. We made a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. Our server Hailey was very attentive and really accommodating. Great place for breakfast, looking forward to my next trip back to Newport to try this place for lunch and dinner. Service was great, facilities were super clean, wait time was under 15 mins for a Saturday which is pretty good for any breakfast joint on a weekend. Our food came out in a timely manner. Waitress was quick on refills. Breakfast portions were huge. I had the Greek Omelet. Decent size portions of feta & spinach. Other family members had the usual, eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, toast w/ side of pancakes. I will have to say that they were pretty fluffy and thoroughly cooked! Usually when you get really fluffy pancakes there are still remnants of uncooked batter inside but not these. Very impressive especially since my 11 yr old considers herself a connoisseur of pancakes and told us that they were better than Daddy's (ouch)! ;o) Restaurant has their own parking lot (a big plus for Newport restaurants). Well, the best place we have been to for brunch in a long time! Nice venue, super nice waitress, the benedicts are amazing and portions are very generous. I recommend the bennies and beaches formula. Oh my! Like the BEST breakfast ever! Atmosphere is meh but the food was amazing. I had eggs over easy with rye toast (I got some kind of pumpernickel blend). The bread was slathered in butter and must have been baked in the last hour or two. We were a group of 7 and I didn't want to talk once I got my breakfast. Friends and I were in town for a wedding and headed to the Atlantic Grille - suggested by friends who live in Middletown. We got there around 12pm on a Saturday and they were packed! The wait wasn't too bad, but we did have to split out party of 8 into two booths, which we worked with. Breakfast was the choice for most of the party - portions were huge! and also decently priced. I got the steak and cheese (the wedding was the night before.. enough said) and my boyfriend got the cajun chicken sandwich. The chicken piece was massive and had to be cut in half so it could fit properly on the bun. Despite this, the sandwiches and french fries were good and we felt satisfied. My review maybe a bit extreme and bias due to eating at the Saltwater (in the Newport Inn) the night before (terrible). So parking at the Atlantic Grille is a little tight but that's really the only down side to this place. Friendly attentive service. Fresh seafood (fish melted in my mouth), huge portions (needed a doggy bag to take food home), reasonable prices, great specialty drinks, family atmosphere. Midweek late morning breakfast. We were seated right away, with a toddler in a child seat. Order seemed to take awhile. When the food was delivered, it accidently was assigned to go to a different table. The person delivering the food was visibly annoyed and chided the order taker in front of everyone seated in our area. It was embarrassing, totally unprofessional and made us all uncomfortable. She then proceeded to throw the food on our table (hot plates in front of a toddler?) Later found out the person behaving badly was the manager. Food was just passable. Worst diner breakfast I had so far. Came in for the eggs Benedict, to learn they only do it on the weekend. My mug had lipstick on it (I don't ware lipstick) and eggs came out cold, really.... If that's not enough, there was no jam with breakfast, which is pretty standard, but we assumed that's how it is here. Then the waitress brought jelly when we were basically done with breakfast. This is an unimpressive restaurant. The food is barely ok. My wife and I took the kids and we all agreed. My fish was undercooked and my kids didn't eat their French fries or corn dogs. To prove a point, I have never seen my kids turn down a corn dog or fries...ever. To make matters worse, as I'm waiting for my kids to try and muscle in some calories I order a beer...which never arrived. Went for breakfast. Nothing to write home but not bad. My wife and I each got omelettes. Lots of food and a little pricey but not outrageous for a place catering to tourists. I thought the service could have been better. First, there were interesting specials we were not told about before ordering. Second, had to ask for water when other tables had it provided pretty quickly. Third, never was asked for a coffee refill and no one came over to ask if we wanted more or anything else. Drove over an hour to get to the beach and sadly they were at full capacity. Decided to stop for breakfast at 10 was told the wait would be 30 minutes. We did not get a table until 11:20. So over an hour waiting without any updates telling us that it would be SOOO long. Wasted most of the morning waiting to get breakfast which turned into lunch. Very very unhappy with the start of our experiencing which ruined the experience here all together. Been sitting now for over 40 minutes (we ordered breakfast) and still haven't gotten food. 100% will never come back and would never recommend unless you have hours to waste. read more

The breakfast is always good here, it's the unnecessary waits and inconsistency that is frustrating. Have been there dozens and dozens of times over the years. Even with 5-7 open, clean tables your still asked to wait by the door. Also the food only comes out correct about 50-60% of the time. Really tasty food and decently priced for the area. Grilled chicken Caesar uses a vinaigrette base rather than egg/oil and chicken wasn't dry. West coast nachos were tasty, crab balanced with gorgonzola, however would ask for a slightly nicer presentation than mashed crab and cheese guacamole. Only big complaint would be the waitress. She brought the rating down heavily by being super spacey and took prompting to get a refill on water that came out warm and no ice. She was close by, though, sitting with her friends who had apparently already clocked out and still in uniform at the bar. From the other side of the seating area, I could just barely make out the specials for the day - we never heard anything about them. I only saw them after glancing at the lobster buoys looking for a new glass of water. Live in town and had never been. Our waitress Talia was excellent. Kept on making sure we were all set. We both got the baked stuffed lobster. You would pay double the price downtown. Went back the weekend after and had Talia's twin sister Taylor wait on us. Again, the service was exceptional. I ordered the baked stuffed lobster and my husband had the chicken parm. The lobster is stuffed with lobster, shrimp and scallops. I was full just eating the stuffing and gave the rest to my husband. We had the calamari and clams casino that were both excellent. Loved the Pineapple Bomb. Honestly, can't understand the reviews. I will definitely suggest the baked stuffed lobster at Atlantic Grill in Middletown. How fun to have twins working together! Sorry but the meal here was very poor quality. The Quahog on the shell was like a dense dough and the fish n chips was very greasy . The cold slaw always was fine and the French fries were okay, but overall it was "quantity not quality". I would never go here again. read more
