Nice restaurant in newport. Downstairs was a little diner-y, but fancier upstairs. Loved the double bars with great service and well made cocktails. The waitresses and hosts were very sweet and knowledgeable. The wicked shrimp was unreal- we were about to drink the broth until our waitress gave us another toasted baguette. Tough that this is one of the fanciest places on the island, but i guess there's not a demand for more upscale dining.

Solid Seafood establishment in the heart of Newport. The choice and quality of oysters is first rate. Prices are very reasonable as well. Loved the Baked Lobster. The stuffing was tasty. The Lobster Roll was just ok. Nothing special but good nonetheless. Service was friendly and professional.

Off the cruise ship and walking in town. Ran into this restaurant. Since it was 34 degrees. It was nice and warm. Greeted by the host and seated timely. Came in to get some steamed clams but found out that they only served it for dinner only. Our waitress said that she would talk to the kitchen and see what she do do. She came back later and was gladly to say that the kitchen agreed to make the steam clams. Also ordered fish and chips which looked like half the fish cooked in a crispy beer batter. Hot and cooked perfectly. Claims came cooked perfectly and the broth was a little salty. Order some fresh oysters since it was an oyster bar. They have an oyster list like a wine list. Pros: My fish and chips was excellent. Fresh oysters was fresh and sweet at $35 each. Cons: I understand that the clams is served only for dinner. But the broth was salty and for little amount of clams, they changed me $21.

Celebrated the boo's birthday here. Since I am a vegetarian girlie, I chose this restaurant purely for him. For any other vegetarians reading this, unsurprisingly this place isn't for you. He ordered a few rounds of mostly all of the small oysters on the menu and loved several, also had lobster and a few items I can't remember. I had the pear martinis and another cocktail which were a little on the sweeter side for me. For the vegetarians, if any, just be prepared to eat ahead. I got an off menu "pasta primavera" which was so noticeably an after thought mish mash of whatever was in the back-- noodles, canned tomato sauce, tiny bits of asparagus. The goat cheese and beet salad were small and just OK. If you're vegetarian just eat before you come. That aside, our waitress was incredible. Wish I hadn't left this review in the drafts because now I can't remember her name and she was so wonderful.

We found this Wonderful oyster spot with a great variety for lunch. We discovered it during a girls trip and enjoyed all the food offerings. The lobster rolls had great flavor, lots of meat, and buttery bread. I'd skip the upgraded truffle fries but liked the aioli on the side. There is a good amount of seating and it is a short walk to lots of great shops nearby. We walked here so not sure what the parking situation is or how hard it might be to get in for dinner but we walked right in for a late lunch. Prices are high but quality of food was really good.

This was a really pretty interior and appealing menu-- also was easier to get into than some of the waterfront spots. Service was friendly but not the most attentive. I greatly enjoyed the halibut, oysters, and Brussels sprouts, but found mains to be slightly under-sauced & underseasoned--Fixed easily enough with a salt shaker.

Oysters were very good and reasonably enough priced. The lobster roll I don't have as much experience in but I liked it a lot, very buttery, just not sure if it was worth the price. Waitress was great and gave good recommendations for the oysters. Strongly recommend for anyone visiting the area though, has a very good north eastern atmosphere to it.

We had a really great dining experience at Midtown Oyster Bar! We were seated upstairs in the large dining room that was decorated with big nautical flags. The seafood was all very fresh. The oysters were delicious. We loved the fish dip appetizer. I particularly enjoyed my salmon poki. We enjoyed some spritzes, wine and even an oyster shooter. The drinks were good! I would recommend Midtown Oyster Bar.

It can be hard to find a good place to eat with a large party of 10+, but Midtown Oyster Bar worked out perfectly. I made the reservation through the manager via email and loved that it didnt require a preset menu or minimum. The food and drinks were everything we had read about online. But a really nice bonus was being seated upstairs where it was a little quieter, allowing us to actually hear each other down the long table.

An absolutely bizarre experience. Recently went to a wedding reception at Midtown and unfortunately it changed my perspective on the restaurant. This was a weekday and the group was about 30 people (sat on the second floor). We called ahead for a reservation. Guests were ordering food as they were ready. A few lunches came out but then we were told there was a kitchen fire and no other hot meals could be served. Our options were soup, salad (no proteins) or raw seafood and it would be about an hour before their second kitchen was up and running. Some folks ordered salads which came out as lettuce only (yet salads that came out beforehand had croutons, veggies, cheese, etc). We had to ask for toppings and dressing. About a half hour later, we saw that other tables (located on the first floor) were served hot food during this time. Once I saw this, I asked a bartender if we could place a few orders of hot apps (like fries) and he said yes. Then our server came over and said the kitchen wasn't ready. It was quite bizarre overall. I'd almost guess that they ran out of food and wanted to serve the regular lunch crowd vs. our larger party. When we got the bill (which was over $150 a person), we were shocked. They didn't offer any discount or comp'd items, despite the experience. Thinking back, there was no emergency personnel on site, no fire department visit, no alarms, no smoke, etc. We will not be back.

We came here based on a friend's recommendation, and I'm so glad we did! Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated within seconds of walking in (around 5 PM). The raw oysters and clams were fresh and delicious, but the lobster roll blew me away. It was warm, juicy, and loaded with a generous amount of lobster meat Will definitely come back for another roll. Highly recommend!

I don't give a shuck about what anyone says because I shell always love Midtown Oyster Bar! While there's plenty of debate about the best oyster spot in this part of Newport, for me there's really no contest because I'll always pick Midtown. The raw bar here is the star. Especially their rotating seasonal selection of raw oysters. The raw oysters here are always sooo fresh and shucked clean!! I'm also a die hard fan of their oysters rockefeller and homemade key lime cake/pie. A while back they offered fried oysters on the menu but have since taken them off. However the few times I've been back, they've been able to accommodate my request for a basket of them- so just ask! When I say this is the spot for oysters I mean it because that's all I ever get here! If possible, I always skip the tables and try my luck at bar seating in the back. The raw bar seating is pretty casual and you get to see all the shucking action. If you know you'll be coming back often, they do have a rewards card that you can sign up for.

When we got here, we had to wait for about 30 minutes for a table since their reservation system was messed up, but things were great as soon as we were seated. I got the wicked shrimp appetizer and it was a HIT at the table. We literally finished it within seconds. I got the baked cod (in butter) with truffle fries for dinner and it was amazing. It was extremely busy the night we went but that didn't affect the table service.

I went on a rainy Monday around noon and there was still a steady flow of customers. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. The staff is all very friendly. The soups were served to us immediately after paying. The New England Clam Chowder was good. Nice amount of clams and very creamy. I had never had Rhode Island Clam Chowder before and this seemed like the place to try it. The clear broth was surprisingly flavorful but I still prefer New England. My girlfriend and I ordered a good amount and the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kung pao calamari. The squid was fried perfectly and having the sauce on the side was nice as it didn't leave the breading to get all soggy and I had control over how sweet it would be. The stuffed Quahogs tasted good but I feel like I tasted more of the stuffing over the actual shellfish. It still tasted good, but I feel like I should've gotten more shellfish. We were told they ran out of shells to serve them on so the presentation was off, but they were still tasty. The lobster rolls were both good. They were $27 which seems pretty steep to me but they were actually on the cheaper side compared to other places we saw around Newport. The lobster tasted fresh and the bread was good. They were solid lobster rolls. The food was all solid, but for the price I wasn't wowed.

We started off with drinks --gin dirty martini and a classic old fashion, both were perfectly made and crisp. Food: Appetizer-warm bread with butter was a nice starter. The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The RI Food Fights TacoMania competition & tourist season starting to slow got us over the bridge to try early on a Saturday evening. Arriving just after opening, we had our choice of tables in an empty room. That was a good thing since, by the time we left, the place was jamming! The server, who was welcoming, enthusiastic about the menu & and handled the ever-growing crowd on his own, told us that we could always call ahead for a table. Good to know since we didn't see a way to reserve. The little place is comfy & lovely! The decor perfectly suits the Newport scene and includes a welcoming food bar area that would be perfect for enjoying their international tapa-like street-food inspired offerings. A small patio is available to overlook Memorial Blvd in nicer weather. While they do not have a liquor license, you are welcome to BYOB and we did, finding the $3 per person corkage fee very fair. Now, about the food... WOW! What a explosion of fun flavors! With choices of snacks from around the world, you can jump from one intense palate to another, over and over. Three of us shared five small dishes & one large and we loved them all. The Nduja Shrimp Dumplings were delicate and fresh and loaded with flavor. The tacos that we were here to judge were fantastic. The pork was juicy & flavorful, and, though we were afraid the vegetable tacos would be boring - they were anything but. We'd eat these all the time! Bravas Frites were a fun twist on traditional Spanish Patatas Bravas, using fries as a base rather than cubed potatoes. Again, delicious! But, our favorite of the small plates had to be the Brussel Sprouts. We almost didn't get them as they've been so over-done, but felt vegetable guilt & threw them in. OMG - the best prep of these tiny cabbages ever! Finally, the pièce de résistance was the Lobster Fried Rice - a perfect way to top it all off. Buttery, umami & loaded with chunks of fresh lobster meat, my mouth waters now just thinking it. So glad we finally stopped here. A great Tacomania contender and we can't wait to return to eat our way through the rest of the menu!

I should mention that after we ordered, our 5 appetizers arrived starting in 5 minutes and all were served within 10 minutes. We did screw up by forgetting we were at BYOB. OK - the killer - the food. Of the 5 appetizers we ordered only one was a winner! That was the Brussel sprouts which were outstanding and a large portion. All the other dishes were about the right size for sharing by 2. Realize they are striving for "fusion" but they missed it on the pulled pork dumplings. The lamb skewers were a struggle to eat - tough (and certainly could not be eaten off the skewers) - but the saving grace was the dipping sauce. The big failures were the prosciutto croquettes - a real mess with a sliver of meat on top of mainly onions - and OMG - the Korean chicken wings. The latter came slathered with a sticky and spicy, sweet, red sauce (too hot for my wife) and some sort of dipping sauce. A mess to eat. We had to request paper towels and dip in our water to clean up. Damages with tip was $90 and we only had a tea and sparkling water. The one thing I will say is I believe their fryer does fish and chicken bc my chicken had a slight ocean taste but since I like fish I was not bothered but non fish people beware!

They were closed until dinner time, so we went to walk around to browse at the shops nearby before coming back to try for dinner! It was pretty quiet when we went, so there were plenty of tables available. Service is slow here, even though there was only 3 other tables were dining at the same time. Multiple servers and staff were just on their phones doing nothing. Our food took a while, too! We had ordered the calamari ($17), clams linguine ($28), & the seared scallops ($38). Portions were okay... wished there was more linguine in the clam linguine dish & also not much flavor going on. I know Italian food can be pricey (I still love it though hehe), but this was not worth the price at all, in my opinion. We walked out of here, STILL hungry & unsatisfied, which is honestly pretty rare... But we were also surprised that they gave 6 scallops because we were totally expecting 2 or 3 scallops only LOL since so many places overcharge for scallops, so this was good in terms of quantity. We wished that they included something else with this dish? Like maybe asparagus or some sort of vegetable? The clam linguine had basically no flavor at all. I know that the flavor for this dish is usually kept pretty simple for the most part but this literally tasted like just pasta water. No garlic, nothing. Just salty pasta water? Overall, I will not be coming back. On the bright side, the place did seem pretty clean.

Needless to say I was shocked to get a 7:15 time slot on a weekend in August however it turned out very lucky for us. We had a delightful server named Molly and I must say if it were not for her recommendation of the homemade mushroom pasta I would never have chosen this Ahhhmazing dish. A fabulous blend of sauce with a hint of pancetta. My husband picked the Bucatini with shrimp. I think he would have licked his plate if he could. My coconut mojito and his blood orange sour were perfect compliments to our meal. Definitely coming back soon!

We just had another fabulous dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant--our second time dining here…read moresince last fall, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

The place itself did not seem to care because nobody said anything to this table. It was a large group. I kept saying to myself if people come to my city and give it the reputation that we have of being snobby then I see why because this would never be allowed in a restaurant in my hometown. At any rate, this is the best lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. I really enjoyed it. I got the plate where it was stuffed. I thought it was just OK but I was just eating something I don't normally try.My partner got steak frites which he also really enjoyed. I love the way the vegetables were cooked. They were perfect not mushy and not underdone. Will definitely return here, if we come back to Newport. I just hope for better patrons.
