We discovered MainSail after getting off the boat from the Newport Jazz Fest. MainSail is located in the Newport Marriott. The drink and food prices are not over the top for a hotel. Stephanie was our server. We ordered a Cabernet and some beers. Food- Clam chowder, Chicken Tacos and Mussels- Good quality! The outside views of the yachts moving through waters are mesmerizing at sunset! Overall service was good and prompt. Definitely recommend Mainsail for drinks and food. It won't break the bank!

We had $30 credit to spend at the Marriott so we decided to eat breakfast here, since our baby woke up so early. Wow, I was so impressed! Definitely way better than many other hotel breakfasts. The staff was so nice to us too! Loved the avocado toast and their home fries were great.

Came here for our Thanksgiving lunch. The view was great. We sat right by the window and could oversee the entire harbor. For the food, the crab cakes were more like a croquette but that's OK. They were delicious. The main I got was the swordfish which might have been slightly undercooked. Nothing terrible though, and the veggies around it were fantastic. My wife got the turkey dinner, and the amount of food was wild. She had at least double my quantity! She got the apple pie dessert, which she raved about. Even though pie a la mode is nice, not really great for cold weather. I got the pumpkin pie latte tiramisu. It was delicious! The service was decent, but the place was practically empty. The price was a little high for what we got considering no drinks were included at all.

The service here was just amazing! Came here for our anniversary night on a Saturday night. They're practicing social distancing while making others wear a mask to come in. You can take off your mask once you're at the table. The manager (didn't get his name) was amazing. Very hospitable... and just awesome. Our server Samantha was such a sweetheart. Very attentive of our table! We had a wonderful anniversary thanks to you both. The lobster risotto was delicious ! A lot of lobster in it! The fish tacos were the best we have ever had. This place is Highly recommended!

The only reason to eat at mainsail is convenience. It's located in the lobby of the Newport Marriot. We had the breakfast buffet for $20 per person. Standard omelet station, waffles made to order, and a buffet of cereal, granola, fruit (good selection of berries, melon, grapefruit, pineapple), yogurt, assorted breads and muffins and a hot station of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Coffee, tea and juice are included but not self serviced. Food is average, service is great. But one morning is enough. We all decided to eat in town the next day. That says it all.

The Newport Playhouse itself was comfortable and, although somewhat dated, retained its charming New England character. The buffet was fresh, well prepared, and offered several appealing choices. The pre-show musical revue, however, left me disappointed. The five performers displayed enthusiasm, but there appeared to be little consistency in either costuming or presentation. While two of the women looked stage-ready in coordinated black outfits with rhinestone accents, another performer wore what appeared to be a plain black T-shirt, leggings, and sneakers, creating a noticeably casual appearance. The men's attire was similarly inconsistent. The musical accompaniment consisted solely of piano and drums. While both musicians were capable, the absence of a bass or additional instrumentation made the overall sound feel thin. More significantly, the program itself lacked a cohesive theme or structure. The selections jumped from the 1940s to the 1970s, then into Broadway show tunes, country music, and patriotic numbers with little connection between them. One performer appeared in a cowboy hat to sing a Roy Rogers tune, a choice that left me unsure whether it was intended as comedy or nostalgia. Short comedy sketches were interspersed throughout the performance, but unfortunately many of the punchlines were difficult to hear because of poor microphone quality, particularly for those seated farther from the stage. After more than an hour, the revue concluded with three patriotic songs, ending with "Yankee Doodle Dandy." The stage play that followed was charming and much stronger overall. The four-person cast delivered an enjoyable performance, although the audio remained an issue. I noticed that none of the performers were wearing mikes and although I could hear most of the dialogue, I struggled to hear many of Sandi Nicastro's punchlines, making it difficult to fully appreciate her performance. Overall, I enjoyed the venue and appreciated the quality of the buffet. However, the uneven production values, inconsistent staging, and ongoing sound issues during the musical revue significantly affected my experience. Those factors are why I ultimately chose to give the Newport Playhouse three stars.

So, on a rainy, dreary evening, I decided to give it another try. What a difference! Walking in, first impression: very clean & surprisingly busy for such miserable weather - always a reassuring sign for a buffet. The sushi selection was solid for a buffet. While we skipped the hibachi grill this time, it looked like a fun option for the next visit. The buffet was consistently replenished, everything we tried was hot & fresh. Standouts for me? The baby Asian clams, crispy chicken nuggets (don't judge!) & perfectly snackable crab rangoon. I also loved that the desserts were cut into small portions so you could sample a bunch without overcommitting. Bonus: individual ice cream cups in a bunch of flavors. Overall, we had a great dinner, used our $3 off coupons & will definitely be back! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

First off I asked for a booth and the guy brings us to a child size booth with barely any room for two people to eat comfortably...Strike one, and the place wasn't even busy and he walked us by a couple of full size empty booths. We went up to get raw chicken and shrimp to have it stir fried with some vegetables. While waiting we walked around the buffet self serving tables only to see that the Crab Rangoons were all stuck together and the size of quarters, they looked like they had been reheated over time and not very appealing... I then found what was supposedly coconut shrimp drenched in a sugary white heavy cream sauce that didn't have any sign of coconut at all on them...The shrimp were tiny and barely noticeable in what looked like a white pudding...I tried this out and didn't care for it at all, way too sweet and nothing like I remembered it use to taste like. My wife couldn't find any snap beans or many vegetables where they once were (remembering the past) nope, instead they served squid rings, crawfish, mini crabs that looked too small to be sold and giant crab legs which we both took a hard pass on... The only chicken I seen was General chicken that was all fused together like it had been reheated and over saturated with their sugary sauce...The barbecue spare ribs had a chewy texture and almost tasted like it was raw, way too chewy for me and I didn't finish it on my plate. The stir fry was heated and cooled really fast! I noticed the pineapple that I added to the raw chicken and raw shrimp wasn't even cooked through and still hard... Overall the meal was pretty bad, nothing like it use to me that I remembered, the soda was barely carbonated and after two sips from the straw it was left untouched... We were there for approximately 15 minutes after getting our food and I asked for the Bill so we could leave... The waitress handed me the check, it was $48. for two dinners and two sodas. They also added on the bottom of the bill a tip percentage for 5% 10% and 15%...I gave the waitress a $50. Bill and told her to keep the change...She gave me a weird look after that... My wife and I left the restaurant hungry and I swore to her I'd never return to this restaurant ever again even if it were the only restaurant in the country. The service was terrible, the food was even worse than I thought it would ever get and the overall experience was horrible because the price didn't reflect a better quality... There are other Chinese restaurants to choose and I'd rather eat elsewhere than this dump

The dining room is very attractive and nicely decorated, and the servers were polite, friendly, and attentive. Our drink orders were taken quickly, and the caipirinhas were both delicious. We made our first trip to the buffet and bar and there were so many choices! Hearts of palm, stuffed grape leaves, everything you could want for a salad bar, cheeses, hot sides, traditional Brazilian meat dishes, cheese rolls, fish, clam chowder and much, much more. While we were enjoying these items back at our table, we also turned our cards to green and strted experiencing the freshly sliced meats. Such a variety of beef cuts, lamb, chicken, sausage, and more. It was all super high quality, very tender, well seasoned, and I honestly don't know which were my favorites. Meat service was frequent - we were never without food and really never had to wait. They just kept coming and coming, and we kept trying more succulent meats. We finished our meal with the most delicious grilled pineapple and also the cheese with honey. Yum! Although there is a lovely dessert menu, we were too full to partake, and the pineapple and cheese hit the spot. The price for the unlimited buffet and meats is just under $50 per person, which at first seems a bit pricey, but when you look at all of the options and the quality of both the buffet and the meats, it is really a great deal! this is the third Brazilian restaurant I've been to, having been to one in Providence and one in Ogunquit, and Churrascaria Tropeiro's Grill is by far the best out of the three. Throughout the meal, employees talked loudly about not wanting to work there and how they would rather be working in Providence. It created a very uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere. To make matters worse, we were eventually seated near two large parties of about 15 people each, making it nearly impossible to have a conversation. The music volume was also unbearable -- way too loud for a dining setting. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the experience. The meats were rare to the point of being unappetizing, and the buffet hot items were mediocre at best. Overall, our service was good, chaotic seating, loud environment, and underwhelming food. Having read the other reviews I have to agree that the place has a grimey feeling to it. A feeling like the entire restaurant needs to be pressure washed and the carpets ripped off and replaced. The workers were super friendly, but there was some definite disorganization amongst them. I was waiting a good 15 minutes before they could decide who was going to be at the omelette station. I laughed cause one of them picked up a broom and was like: "I did it yesterday, it's so and so's turn today." Then there's the quality of food which is basically bare minimum - the cheapest possible available and it shows in taste and appearance. At least... at least the coffee was decent which was a pleasant surprise, and the omelette was actually pretty good and that's pretty much all I would have from there. I wish there would be more fresh fruit. The cinnamon rolls - very obviously from a can. The gravy for biscuits obviously from a pouch that had water added, heated and served. You see what I mean? like its all quantity not quality. Which I guess you can't expect much more when its 13.99 per person. Maybe it's because it was morning, but we found the bathrooms to be clean which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I view golden corral as a place you go to when there's no other option as it was in our case within walking distance. It's cheap in both price and quality.
