Went in for a eye exam, staff was really friendly, office was nice and clean. They have a large waiting room and patients are able to be spaced out-sitting six feet apart. Exam rooms were clean. This is my first time at this location . Normally I go to the Torrance office. I needed a diabetic eye exam. The Drs assistant named Liz was very rude. She asked me questions that I wasn't prepared to answer like-(1) how long have you been pre- diabetic?, (2) when was the last time you got glasses?What brand of eye drops do you use? I told her I didn't know and she repeated the question with a firmer voice. I had to guess because I wasn't prepared for these questions. This has never happened to me before and I told her that. Atlantis Eyecare is the company I go to for all my glasses needs. When I called to schedule an appointment they were able to see me within a week at this location, Long Beach. When I arrived they checked my temperature which is great because you know they're trying their best to keep people safe during the Covid pandemic. Once checked in, I waited in the waiting area where they have certain chairs marked off to aid in social distancing. The tech Elisa, helped me get ready before the doctor checked me out. She performed the tests needed, and she was very quick and polite. Then Dr. Le came in and I expressed my concerns, she really took the time to check my eyes and even went above and beyond to figure out what I might want to do about my situation. Jaime the tech that performed another test on my eyes was very polite, he cleaned the machine before I used it, which I know is protocol but with covid it makes me feel more secure to see them do it right before I put my face/ head to any machine. Once I finished with all my testing, I was helped by Marissa, she was so helpful with choosing what frames I was interested in. She showed me all the different ranges, from those covered by my insurance to the ones she felt were my style. She is really helpful in making sure you'll be happy with the glasses you choose, she understands the importance of comfort and style! KUDOS TO THIS TEAM! This was my wife's second appointment at ATLANTIS Eye Care. Her first appointment was at the Torrance office. I accompanied her on both trips. The staff there was friendly and so efficient that she hadn't even finished my paperwork before she was called in. Dr. Casey came in soon after. She had to finish her paperwork after her appointment. Contrast that with the follow up appointment in Long Beach (We went to this office because it was much closer to our home). We arrived for the appointment 15 mins early and she was ignored by the people working behind the desk. After waiting a bit, she went over to the other side where the guy acknowledged her, but then directed her back to where she came from. He then came over to that side and asked her if he could help (as if the interaction two minutes before never happened), it was like something out of a sitcom. Didn't get called in for the 3:45 appointment until 4:10, then had to wait for the Doctor till 4:40. She could hear him helping other patients and almost left. We were so disgusted with their poor organization. Such audacity to keep someone waiting almost an hour! If the practice is running that far behind schedule they should have the courtesy to call and let us know what time to come in. When the Doctor finally came in, he didn't even apologize or comment about the long wait. The service level at this place is awful. You wonder how they manage to be in business. I was referred there by my primary doctor/insurance got there 15 minute early by waited for exactly 2 hours to be seen by the doctor. They asked me to go back for special lens fitting. They gave me an appointment time for 40 days later. After 40 days when I wend there, they told me they are sorry. Not too sure how this place has been able to keep seeing patients. They are very unprofessional and have no logic. The only good doctor still there is Dr. Tran. For one my husband had his eyes checked today 12/27/16, not only did they dialate his eyes thy never asked him if he had a driver? No one is suppose to drive following an eye dialation. So I had to get a ride up there to drive him home and to work. Then not only did they not tell him to stay out of sun, I had to tell him, I should go work for them as much as I know about vision. Thank God, I was able to fight tge insur company to get me away frm this place after my eyes were fried like eggs in a laser surgery. This is the least "user friendly" medical provider I've ever encountered. They even refused to provide me with the report of the appointment until they called someone who, some 15 minutes later called back to give the OK. And to top it off they wanted to charge me for reports. Today I got a computer call reminding me that it's time for a periodic checkup. Finally actually getting through to a person at Newport Beach office, she put me on hold for till I hung up 23 minutes later and recalled. Terrible customer service. I don't know why they have patients complete their information online, in advance of their appointment. I could have completed it at their office while I waited almost an hour to be seen. My appointment was for 10:50, and I didn't get called back until 11:47. No reason was given for the extremely long wait. Furthermore, they don't care about their immunocompromised/ vulnerable patients. A woman at the desk where appointments are scheduled wore her mask below her mouth, and the doctor I saw, Dr. Bookman, entered the exam room wearing his mask beneath his nose. When I brought this issue to his attention, he proceeded to makes excuses, such as people have mask fatigue, etc. In California, masks are required in healthcare settings. Period. It seems that, at this healthcare setting, mask fatigue trumps the vulnerable/immunocompromised who can't afford to get COVID-19. read more

So I went to this place and it was absolutely wonderful!! Atlantis Eyecare Long Beach was super quick and effective in helping me out. Dr Logan was very friendly and knowledgeable. Technician Kris and Jana both were super quick and effective in helping me out both before and after my surgery. Surgery scheduler, Rosa was an absolute pleasure speaking with and helped me schedule everything very quickly. Dr. Nguyen is great. My initial appointment was on January 10th with her and she was so knowledgeable. If I could rate just her, she'd get 5 stars. However, the optical department is an absolute joke. I was told that my contacts would be ready within a week of my follow up appointment which was February 1st, and that I'd receive a phone call to let me know when to come pick them up. Great. Three weeks pass and it's now February 22nd and I have to follow up just to be put on hold for 15 minutes. Come to find out the contacts were "on back order," but would be available the following Monday February 26th. Hmm... so no one could call to update me in those 3 weeks? And if the contacts were in fact on back order, how are we able to get them 3 days later? Someone clearly dropped the ball and forgot to place the order. Fast forward to today Wednesday February 28th when I go to pick them up. I ask the optician about the rebate, and she has the audacity to tell me that I need to hurry to get it done because it needs to be completed within 60 days of my appointment. Excuse me, Miss ma'am? My initial appointment was on January 10th. My contacts according to you should've been ready by February 9th at the latest. Make it make sense. read more

dr. Logan and staff not willing to accommodate my deafness and write everything down as I asked them to. I even called the office ahead of time to let them know about my disability. They did not make adequate accommodations. They kept talking behind their masks and when I would remind them to write things down they wouldn't or wrote down very little. My first time here. A very busy Friday!!! The place was packed and they were running behind. I got there before my appointment time, to fill out a load of paperwork. The lobby was a little warm. One of the staff members was nice enough to hand out little bottles of water as she apologized to the patients for the delay. I was pretty okay, I took my time filling out my paperwork slowly with my left hand. And texting family as I waited. Either way, I have to sit in rush-hour traffic on a busy Friday anyway. I was in no hurry for that. I met with the Doctor (Dr Logan); Who confirmed my second opinion. And I feel comfortable enough to trust him with my eyes. The first Atlantis/Azul eye care ophthalmology office I was directed to go to was their facility in Torrance on Lomita. I went there due to a central serous retinopathy in my eye, diagnosed by my optometrist. The ophthalmologist was and hour and a half late returning to the office from lunch. When He finally saw me he confirmed the diagnosis I already had and told me I had to go to another office for a retina specialist. I was directed to their office in Long Beach on the corner of Woodruff Ave and Spring Street. So now it's been several weeks since my original diagnosis and my eye is not healing itself. So, after quite a while at the Long Beach office, the doctor comes in to speak to me. She tells me I either need an injection in my eye or a laser treatment for my macular degeneration. This is the first time I have heard anything about macular degeneration. So I ask her which one is it, central serous retinopathy or macular degeneration? She says she is not sure because they are very similar and the treatment is the same. Now I am a bit worried. I ask her what the treatment is and she says either a shot in the eye or a laser treatment. She then tells me that the shot in the eye could tear my eye, cause bleeding and possible blindness. We agree to wait a couple of weeks to see if my condition gets better on its own or not. Sometimes central serous retinopathy can heal itself. During the waiting period my eye got worse again. When I returned after the two weeks the doctor confirmed my eye had indeed gotten worse. She said she was going to set up an appointment for me to take care of it. So I asked her what was the best, and or, safest procedure for me, the shot or the laser. That is when she informed me that they did not have the laser at that facility so that was not an option for me. After I balked about not having an option she offered to make me an appointment at a facility that had a doctor with the laser so I could get an unbiased opinion on which was the best option for my eye. I accepted, and was told I would be hearing from them in a day or two. Of course I never heard from them except to get an appointment date for my eye injection. I called Optum, my insurance provider, to get some assistance and the best I got was we can send you to another doctor and I could ask if they offered both treatments. I explained that I did not think going from doctor to doctor looking for ones with a laser would be helpful as I would have to make appointments and check to see if they had the proper equipment for my eye. After several tense minutes on the phone not getting helped by optum I asked for a supervisor and was told there were none. I asked for her name and she just hung up on me. Such quality care from Atlantis/Azul and Optum. So now I get a call from Atlantis/Azul telling me I am just going to get referred back to their office. They asked me what laser I needed? I said I don't know ask the doctor.At this point I am desperate I called my Optometrist friend for a recommendation to a high quality eye doctor. So as a result, I am going to an out of network doctor, paying cash, for the service I need, and some peace of mind. I do not recommend Atlantis/Azul for anything . read more

They refused to see me without signing an arbitration agreement (which means I forfeit my rights to go to court for example if their is malpractice on their end) which I find very unprofessional given that people cannot be legally forced to sign an arbitration agreement which means i forfeit my rights to go to court. Unfortunately, I was referred here by my insurance provider and had to sign it if I wanted to be seen today for my eye pain. read more

I just waited 45 minutes to have an OCT test which took 2 minutes! This was the second time in the office with an unacceptable wait time. Whoever designed their appointment scheduling needs to be more considerate of their patient's time! We are working people as well. Please do better. read more

This place is absolutely the worst took my in laws here to see the doctor after my dad's eye surgery and the lady at the front desk gave me attitude because my mom, dad, and myself came in. Mind you, I come in to do the check in and help with any paper work because, they are 78 and 76 years of age and they can't hear or see very well. The front desk lady says my 78 year old mom needs to wait outside in the hot sun because, it's their policy that only the patient can stay in the lobby. Ofcourse I challenged her and she very smugly responded sorry that is our policy it's not fair to the other patients. There were 2 people in the lobby and there were at least 14 chairs available. It is absolutely appalling that they will make an elderly person wait in the hot sun 91 degree day here in long Beach because of a very stupid policy. They don't really care or show any kind of remorse. I refused to let them treat my mother this way and they finally gave in and allowed her to stay but, it was a battle dealing with them and this stupid policy. This will be the last time I bring them here we will search for a doctors office with a little more common sense and empathy when dealing with older patients who are more frail and that treats them with respect. I had my first visit today. I was a little worried that I would have a long wait as I could see several patients through the windows waiting as I parked. I guess everyone was there for different doctors and needs. They called me in so fast I didn't have time to complete the new patient paperwork. I arrived early in expectation of that. Chris was very nice and made me feel very comfortable and exhibited care for me when I told her of my reduced neck mobility due to a recent surgery. I was soon seen by Dr Tran. Okay, here it goes folks. My first experience here at the Long Beach location from a referral by my healthcare provider. The optometrist was great, check out my eyes in a friendly and orderly fashion. He was very professional, courteous and provided my prescription quickly. The problem was the optical section, their behavior and petty charges relating to eye glasses. One person in particular, Stephanie, treated me more as a number instead of a customer. Her customer service skills are amateurish, curt and rude. She speaks with an elevated voice, making sure everyone in the office hears her oral discourse, which suppose to be confidential under a professional environment. No "Thank you sir " or "It's been a pleasure having your business". I have been treated much, much better at other optical dispensaries, where the staff really care for you, including supplying eyeglass cases, nose pieces, adjustments, and cleaning free as a professional courtesy service. My advise is until this optical business changes its behavior and policy pattern, take your business to more friendlier avenues, like Lenscrafters, Costco, or the more well known businesses. read more

They are not careful, do not listen to patients, and make serious mistakes. And then they drag you along until the statute of limitations of has expired, so you are unable to deal with it. This office is awful with scheduling and communication! They have no value or respect for their patients (i.e. customers.) Made an appointment over 3 months ago for an appointment. 3 days before my appointment they called to reschedule me (over 6 weeks out!!!) because the doctor had decide to change his schedule and is no longer in the office on Fridays. No explanation, no apology AND no respect for my time when communicating need to reschedule. Office is unwilling to take responsibility for their communications nor actions and they DO NOT honor commitments - Office "Manager" said they were going to call me back "no later than tomorrow morning" and it is 3 days later and still no call. Do NOT recommend this office as they are not professional nor do they value their patients and their time. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE IT HAS THE 'RONA!!! read more
