On Saturday morning, July 26, I experienced one of the most humiliating and upsetting encounters…read moreI've ever had while attempting to pick up a work-related package for myself and my coworker. What should have been a simple errand turned into an emotionally exhausting ordeal that left me shocked, disrespected, and targeted without cause. When I arrived, I provided the employee with all the information I had: my coworker's full name (not just her nickname), the tracking number, and even showed him the confirmation email. I made it clear this was for our job. Still, he refused to release the package. He fixated on minor discrepancies, such as me not mentioning her nickname "Joe," even though I clearly stated her full name. When I asked if I could call her to clarify, he allowed it--but when she identified herself over the phone, he still refused, citing a phone number from the shipping label that neither of us knew. At that point, it was clear: nothing I provided was going to be "enough" for him. This man was unnecessarily combative, unprofessional, and cruel. He seemed determined to block the transaction regardless of how much I tried to comply. I pleaded with him, explained this was for work, and even showed additional proof. He dismissed everything. His tone was harsh, his energy mean-spirited, and he even bragged about denying another customer their package as if withholding people's deliveries was something he enjoyed. As tensions rose, he began to insult me. He made inappropriate, racially charged remarks and called me "stereotypical." I was in disbelief. I was being targeted--not for what I did--but for daring to question him, for standing my ground, for not backing down like others who've dealt with him. I became visibly upset, even raised my voice--yes--but only because I was desperate to fulfill a responsibility for my job and was being treated with such blatant hostility. It escalated so badly that even my coworker, still on the phone, heard the horrible things he said to me and was just as stunned. Another customer tried to defend him, but I was clear: I gave this man all the right information except a nickname--and still, he acted like I was a problem. I wasn't. Eventually, after my coworker and I threatened that the company we work for will get their money back since he refused the give the package, he threw the package at me and told me to leave. Not handed--threw it!!! It was demeaning, completely uncalled for, and done in front of witnesses. I don't know if his behavior was racially motivated, rooted in prejudice, or simply power-driven, but I do know it was cruel and absolutely unnecessary. I left that store feeling violated and defeated. Later, I spoke to a family member who lives nearby, and she shared that she's also experienced his aggression and now refuses to use that location. The only difference is, I spoke up. I questioned him--and that's why I believe I was treated even worse. But going forward, I will be doing the same as her: redirecting all future deliveries elsewhere. I would rather travel farther than ever deal with that level of disrespect and mistreatment again. No one should be treated this way for trying to pick up a package--especially not in the name of work.

I hired News Moving Company to unload my truck after a move. The quote came through fast and was…read morevery reasonable. It was supposed to include assembling furniture and have no extra fees. The movers showed up on time and were very courteous. I did not have a big move and had friends to help. I opted to hire movers specifically because I needed help with the bigger furniture pieces and assembly, something that has never been an issue with any moving company I've hired in the past. I asked for the movers to set up my bed and sofa with instructions on how I wanted it while my friends and I helped with unloading the truck. Later that evening, I was extremely disappointed to find that they had not fully assembled my sofa, which was a pull out. All of the pieces were present as well as the owner's manual. It was frustrating that they did not assemble it, but even more frustrating that they did not bring it to my attention so that I could be involved to help resolve the issue. The sofa was clearly not fully assembled (not something that might have been overlooked)-- they slid the unassembled piece so that it was hidden and left it for me to find after they were gone. I understand if they are not able to figure out how to assemble it, but if it was part of the job that they were hired for, then they should bring it to attention if not able to complete the task for whatever reason. This was annoying, BUT the movers were good otherwise. The reason why this review is ONE star is due to the follow up from the company after. I sent a message expressing my frustration and disappointment that the movers had not completed assembly or brought it to my attention, and the moving company basically said that I did not say that I needed furniture assembled, and that was my fault for not disclosing I had a sofa bed, and that they would have charged more for that. I sent them their initial quote to me, which outlined that furniture assembly was included. They never asked me for a breakdown of furniture. And why would I tell you that I needed assembly if it was in your quote? No moving company has ever charged extra for this sofa bed (I've moved with it 3 times now). And the quote was supposed to be no extra fees. I said it was still unprofessional for them to leave / hide it and not let me know, and she said they were not aware (it was CLEARLY not assembled-- they knew). Never once did they offer an apology or acknowledge that there was anything done wrong on their end, they only argued with me and put blame on me (the customer) for something no other company has ever had an issue with. All I was looking for was acknowledgement, and left with a worst taste in my mouth. There are a ton of other moving companies other there. Please keep in mind when News Moving says NO EXTRA FEES, it does not mean no extra fees (they would have charged more for the sofa bed, per the representative). No other company has ever charged more for this. And News Moving will not fully stand up to everything in their quote. No other moving company I've used has ever fussed about assembling furniture. AND, most importantly, you should go with a company who cares about the satisfaction of their customers and takes ownership of their mistakes. News Moving company does not.
