My advice to anyone moving is to be realistic about how much stuff you have. I got three quotes. One company estimated one-and-a-half 27-foot trucks, while Royal and another company estimated one 27-foot truck. My move-out apartment was 895 sq ft with a large patio. Before moving day, I made two 10-foot Home Depot truck trips myself with the delicate and bulky items: my electric bike, Peloton, and other things that don't stack well. Royal filled a 27-foot truck with everything else, efficiently using all the available space. We did go a little over the estimate because of rush-hour traffic. The only part I didn't enjoy was the payment app prompting for a tip at checkout. After a long moving day, that was one unnecessary stress point because I never know what's considered an appropriate tip for professional movers. Viktor and his team (Andres, Sergei) helped us with our 3rd(?) move with Royal Moving. We've hired them again and again not just for the repeat customer discount but because they've done a solid job each time -- even if there are other companies that do it for cheaper. The team was efficient, respectful, and understanding of the hot mess of a move we had for them - lots of packing help with not a lot was ready to go, plus some unexpected furniture moving that required disassembly/reassembly. They came right about 15 minutes after the end of the arrival window which actually worked out well so we could prepare more for them, but overall everything was faster than they/we estimated which is great when you're paying by the hour. They used supplies we had bought from Home Depot and Amazon, plus their own for the wardrobe and other big things. One glass jar was broken in the unpacking process and they were quick to apologize and clean it up the best they could. While they ask customers to leave a review (totally understandable), I appreciate that they don't incentivize for them nor do they demand 5 stars. We'll be calling for them again, no doubt. Although we did not end up using this company for our move, I wanted to rate them from the experience/ communications we had. We decided on another company just because their price was better. In the 11th hour before our move, that mover had issues with our scheduling, so I called Royal back to see if they could do our move literally that day or the next. I understand what a huge ask this was. They were accomodating and figuring out how to make it work. The fact that they even considered this was very appreciated by us! In the end, we still went with the other company because they got their scheduling resolved. I am currently having a very bad experience with Royal Moving. They are unfairly, and I believe illegally, keeping $1000 (one thousand dollars) of my money. Their employee/representative, James Treasure, contacted me to work a deal where he guaranteed to take ALL of my belongings (except my motorcycles) out of a storage room and deliver them to my new home. Cost: $2000. He used my photographs and the dimensions of my storage unit to estimate 300 cubic feet of stuff. Turns out he is either a moron or a thief, because it turned out I have closer to 1000 cubic feet of stuff. When the actual workers showed up (contract truck/movers, not the owned and operated truck and employees James promised), they said my contract only allowed for a third of the space I required. Royal said they would be glad to make room on the truck for all of my stuff, for an additional $1200. The agreement I made with James Treasure was based on the bad information he supplied. He told me I had 300 cubic feet of stuff, when in actuality I had closer to 1000 cf. Whether James is incompetent or a scam artist doesn't change the fact my contract with Royal Moving is fraudulent inducement. I contacted Isaiah at Royal and asked for my $1000 deposit back. He said they would be keeping my deposit because I cancelled at pickup. They wasted my time during a stressful move, wanted to charge me 60% more than they agreed to, and then punished me for cancelling their deceitful contract.
