I used Five Star on December 2, 2025. I forgot to write the review then but doing it now because I am hiring them again. It was my first time using Five Star and I was basing my interest off of other Yelp reviews. You read good reviews but you never know. Well, they made the move seamless and stress-free. From the first inquiry and quote to the booking and moving day, the entire process was great. There are follow-up emails, a personal link to the quote with the contract and a breakdown of all costs and the "fine print" is easy to follow and understand. No scamming or surprise charges. You get a call the day before from the dispatch confirming your move and the movers call you on the day when they're on their way to give you a more accurate ETA. Kay was friendly and a total professional. She explained everything really well and answered all my questions. Tons of value for a long distance move (Palm Springs to Los Angeles area). The move was for my 89-year-old mom and Kay made me feel secure and confident about the service. The two men that showed up on moving day were rockstars. I feel like a jerk for not writing down their names. They were so nice and went above and beyond to help me get my mom settled in. They were so nice to my mom. I can't say enough good things because this was one of the easiest moves I've ever experienced. I did all the packing, I am super organized, and we were prepared for them, so I cannot speak to the more all-inclusive service, but the guys did wrap furniture, hang my mom's clothes in their wardrobe boxes, and carolled odds and ends, and they did it all with care. Just a quick review because they deserve it. Had 7x7 shed FULL of stuff, a bunch of collectibles in the top of my garage (I provided a ladder), a couple of roll-around toolboxes with top-boxes, a safe, etc. These guys showed up and hustled until the job was done. Did in a couple of hours what would have taken my wife and I probably all day (at least), especially with multiple trips figured in since all I've got is a pickup. Pricing was fair, but what is your time (and back) worth? Would 100% use their services again. My only regret is procrastinating for so long in the first place. The guys arrived about 40 minutes later then I expected, but once they got to my storage unit, it was go time. The men were friendly, they were fluent in English and Spanish, they were respectful and professional. Roni and Alejandro emptied a 5x10 storage unit, Tetrised things inside the truck and we were onto our next destination to pick up one more item within under an hour. Upon arrival at my new apartment, the men were careful and respectful to my things and unloaded everything as I instructed. As someone who loathes moving and hadn't moved in 10 years, they made my 9 mile local move seamless and stress free. 1) Communication - Prompt and reliable. I scheduled the move via email. Received an email confirmation. Then received a call to confirm the move 48 hours prior to moving day. On the day of, I received a call for their ETA. They were 30 minutes early, but asked if it was okay that they were early and I said yes. 2) Transparency - All pricing is given to you upfront. A 4-hour, 9 mile move for me came out to $650 (with $50 as the security deposit), no surprises or hidden things. I packed majority of my items and bought 1 medium box from them. Their 4 wardrobe boxes they supply for free are wonderful, take advantage of them for shoeboxes / jackets etc more annoying to pack! 3) Service - Incredibly friendly and kind humans which can be rare in such transactional services. Asked where we wanted everything placed, always asked if they could use restrooms, cleaned up all the wrapping. They felt bad not having the cords to check our TVs worked after the move (my fault, I left electric cables in a pile and said it was fine). As a follow up to our move in July 2025 the Five Star Moving & Storage Team (Cruz, Carlos & David) provided excellent overall service and did a great job moving our furniture and belongings from a 4+ bedroom house and loading into our 26 ft Penske rental truck! The communication with the office for booking, and the communication with Operation managers and his loading crew was good. Five Star was reasonably competitive, clear and transparent on all cost items. The loading crew were professional and friendly and worked diligently to complete the loading of the 26 ft Penske truck in the 3 hour window that we agreed upon. I booked 5 Star last September and had an easy time booking my move and was quoted a fair price. I booked 3 movers for 3hrs and 30 mins for my 600sqft apartment. The movers showed up on time and completed the job in just under 4hrs. The overage was understandable as a couple items of furniture needed to be dis and reassembled also my move was in the heart of Ktown- parking was difficult at both locations and they were unable to park at the entrance of either building but made the best of an difficult situation. Never again. Quoted one price with two movers (even with the understanding that it may take a smidge longer due to a piano being moved from an apartment with no elevator and only stairs, and that price could go up as smidge, and needing some items boxed, and items placed at the curb). Two movers couldn't move piano. Now I needed two extra people at an additional $500, on top of the $580 I was quoted. Stuck between a rock and a hard place because I have to move. Move suddenly took five hours and two hours was spent between the two movers trying to get the piano downstairs and then going back and forth with dispatcher. Kay admitted she royally fucked up, but I was charged for all five hours. Oh- but I was given a $200 discount. I think next time I'd rather set my belongings on fire and start over. Oh, the two extra guys just took the front legs off my piano before taking it downstairs. Ended up paying via Zelle to another company- Handy Movers? But, I will say the movers were extremely nice and they deserve to work for a competent company. read more
