I saw this place as we were in our way to our worksite. The name caught my eye and it was all I…read morecould think about. We went here for lunch. It's a small place sort of looked like it could have been a fast food restaurant. There was plenty of seating. You could order from the menu or from the hot table (not sure what else to call it). There were two ladies working up front and it took a long time to order. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, a cornbread muffin and a tea (half sweet/half unsweetened). My colleague had meatloaf, Mac and cheese, green beans, and a biscuit. We each ordered peach cobbler. They serve a lot of food! My colleague said she was going to take some for dinner. Well. . . she ate everything. It must have been really good. I haven't had good fried chicken in a long time and it was delicious. I ate all the green beans and the cornbread. I took the chicken to eat later. The mashed potatoes started out tasting good but then I started to notice an after taste that I didn't like. I didn't eat them. My colleague could not eat the cobbler. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but she tasted it and said she couldn't eat it. I unfortunately never got to eat mine. It sat in the fridge in the hotel and I ended up tossing it before I left. I was a little disappointed. I really was expecting some grits and maybe some greens (not green beans).

We didn't need to add anything to our food and it was perfect. Those were some of the best grits I've ever had in my LIFE. I will make a special trip out of the way for good food, and this is a spot that I'd come to every week if I lived closer. The cooks' hands are blessed, because the way I INHALED that food should be a crime in itself. The decor was cute and festive for the occasion, but all I could concentrate on was that FOOD.

Pleasantly surprised by Bistro 221. It's in a very small town along I-95, and you wouldn't…read morenecessarily expect much - but it delivers. From the first phone inquiry to the experience in the restaurant, the people were genuinely polite and welcoming. The atmosphere felt calm, relaxed, and easy. The food exceeded expectations. The Cobb salad was especially good - fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully put together, with healthy ingredients and no bacon, which I appreciated. The shrimp tacos were excellent, topped with a slightly sweet/spicy, mysterious sauce that worked really well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!!!

The staff were all very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly with drink orders taken. It took a few minutes to get the drinks, but thats OK. A larger table was seated before us so its all good. We placed our food order of the Loaded Fries for an appetizer, 2 Killer Club sandwichs(pesto on the side)with fries, Secret Philly with onion rings and the Blackened Fish Tacos with the chips salsa and queso. The Loaded Fries were delicious! Plenty of bacon and queso on them. The Philly was delicious, onion rings hot and crispy. The kids loved their Club sandwiches. They were HUGE and the kids could have easily split one. The Blackened Fish Tacos were the only negative on our trip. They were pale colored, hardly warm, and the slaw was soggy. Honestly they were aweful! My husband tried a bite and said it tasted like it was from yesterdays trash. I have seen tons of good reviews on them so I'm not sure if they have been changed or I got them on a bad day or what. I hate sending food back, so I just ate them. I tried throwing pesto from the clubs, salsa or queso on bites trying to make them better, but nothing really helped. Overall we will definitely be back again, just not ordering the tacos!

It was just what I…read moreneeded after not eating all day while I was sightseeing, and it was conveniently located along my route from Charleston to Atlanta. It's a buffet, and I was in fried food heaven. They had basically all the fried vegetables one could imagine, from corn fritters (and also spicy corn fritters) to fried squash, okra, hush puppies (so good) etc. They also had several types of meat including pulled pork which was excellent and some type of pork stew over rice that I wasn't familiar with but it was delicious. Then they had the cold items (coleslaw, potato salad, pickles, and a number of other things). There is also a dessert buffet including three types of puddings/cobblers and ice cream, but I didn't try those. Plenty of seating, in two large rooms. I went at a weird early dinner time and there were still a number of other people there, including those getting to-go orders. Bbq sauce had several types and enjoyed them. Staff was friendly and helpful, recommending different things when I didn't know what they were. Only suggestion is that they could do with replacing the labels on the buffet, as the old hand-written ones were looking a bit unappealingly grimy. Otherwise, it was the perfect southern on-the-road meal for this starving traveler!
