Malia is the bomb! I'm a regular with her, and she has never disappointed! I've done may different things with her (including undercuts, purple hair, silver hair, and even helping me with the process of growing out my hair), and she always gets it right. She's always does her best, and takes extra time and precautions to make sure that your hair comes out exactly as she planned. Not only is she good at what she does, but she is also a fun person to talk to and so sweet! Overall, I love the salon (especially the theme and decor) as well as the atmosphere and results. Not the best, not the worst.. The appointment felt rushed as the stylist had a (very obvious) "appointment" somewhere else. Nice but mask below her nose (I assumed it was going to be adjusted, it was not), conservative talk show or broadcast in the background and someone who took a call made fun of the request that the future guest had made. Definitely the roughest my hair has been brushed since junior high, lol. As with all salons, it's an individual experience, so your mileage may vary. Cash only, which meant I had to go find an ATM. I went through hair hell at another salon. My husband contacted Atomic Kitten (I went here about 4 yrs ago & had a great experience) & Maria was assigned to me. She assured my husband that she could fix what this other lady had done. I was sooooo nervous & didn't really trust that my hair could be fixed. I was created when I came in & although the appt was delayed a bit, the salon was really nice & it wasn't that much of an inconvenience. Then I met Maria! She listened to what I wanted, we discussed how the other girl had burned me badly with bleach, & we worked out a plan. She was so attentive the entire time! Super super friendly & it was pleasant to sit for her. She kept making sure I was ok while we bleached, she was easy, & she literally made me feel at ease. When she was done, I wanted to cry. I was able to get an appointment quickly and thank god because my hair was a mess! The salon is very clean and sanitary and everyone is wearing a mask and the temperature reader is super cool lol. My appointment was with Teanna and she was very straightforward with me about my hair and gave me a realistic idea of how my hair would come out (i wanted pieces of my hair bleached and my hair is really dark). She was very thorough and sooo patient and my hair ended up coming out PERFECT. I love it, way better than I even imagined. I had a divine experience at Atomic Kitten. I am new to the area and have been getting my hair done in the Orange County area for 15 years. I had no idea where to turn when I moved to Bakersfield. I took to yelp for an appointment request. Atomic Kitten was one of the first to reply. The owner Ramona was extremely helpful, kind and responsive. She referred me to a longtime stylist, Malia. I'm so beyond impressed with everything about my experience. Malia was phenomenal. All of the stylists were so friendly and made the experience very fun. Malia was so attentive and asked all the right questions and had plenty of patience with every bit of what I wanted. Walked in everyone was standing around gossiping but one lady who was working cutting hair. A few went out to smoke. It was super Awkward. I sat thirty mins while my hairdresser was outside because the new receptionist didn't know to tell her that her client arrive. I was super excited to get my hair cut again but it didn't turn out like the photo I brought. It was ok. There needs to be more of a professional environment. a few months ago, I had gone to this place with my partner. Originally with the intention of them getting a touch up on their hair. I decided that I would as well get my own hair fixed up since I messed up cutting it myself. Michael was the one who consulted me and then sat me down to get me started. Not only was he uncomfortably touchy, but he as well was just aggressive with handling my hair. He kept gripping my shoulders and patting them and had made a few comments that made my partner and I uncomfortable. Though I don't remember those comments now. When it got to the point of the wash bowl, I was already on my route to laying back in the bowl when he gripped my shoulder hard and about pushed me back into the sink. It hurt a lot. After so, it turned out that he had done a horrible job cutting my hair. pieces were left uneven in the back of my hair as well as in my bangs. Additionally, Tiana ended up fixing my hair for me and made me feel better about the situation. but Michael all around was just awful. with an extra point that someone else was at the top of the walk in list and he took her spot instead of giving it to her like he should have. read more

Wow! Just wow! What an awesome experience. First the salon itself: 5 stars! I loved the whole vibe and the way it was decorated. The music was great, too. Now the stylists: 5 stars! I had pictures in my phone to show both stylist to give them an idea of what we were looking for. My stylist was Maria and all I can say about her was that she was completely amazing. I had shoulder length curly hair and wanted to go very short but with fullness on the top. She spent so much time making sure the back was completely even, trimming it up with trimmers. After cutting it with the scissors she used a razor with perfect precision to thin my very thick hair. After blowing it dried she used the thinning shears to thin it more. She then styled it and used some texturizer. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out and styling it this morning after washing it was so fast and easy. Amazing stylist. My mom's stylist was Ramona. I didn't see her cut my mom's hair but the end results were gorgeous. My mom looks 15 years younger (she is 82!) and this is no exaggeration. The cut is beautiful and she showed my mom how to style it. Today my mom washed and styled her hair and it looks lovely. All in all, I would give the Atomic Kitten 10 stars if I could. I consulted with the stylist for 20 minutes I showed her a pic of my hair and that is what I wanted, it was in the prior condition in before pic. She said she could do it. I said are you if you can't just tell me we can do something elsewhere. Oh no she said I can. She slapped a bunch of bleach on my hair. I sat there she finally rinsed and washed it. I could tell it looked Nothing like my pic. She Had the nerve to blame my hair saying I had too much done. I haven't colored or bleached my hair since April only cuts or trims . She never told me how much it would be so I about fell over when she said 200$ plus tip. Thank God I had the money. She fried my hair, parts of it are orange and it's a frizzy puffy mess. I've had the literal best stylist in bako do my hair and had to do a lot more work and it was nowhere near this lady's fee. Maybe she making up for Covid, but I've been hearing similar stories about stylist at Atomic Salon. Please please vet someone you've never met. I think she knew I was desperate and took advantage of that. She didn't deserve a tip, but I'm not that kid of person, but I will have to have it fixed by a professional and you better believe I'm asking for partial back or you might see me on Judge Judy lol!!! FYI I would had no problem paying the 200$ plus tip if it had turned out good,but that is far from the case.
