From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The salon is very clean and well-kept, which I really appreciated. It made the whole visit feel professional and relaxing. They even serve wine, which was a nice touch and made the experience feel a little more like a treat. Micah did an amazing job with my hair. Had an appointment she wasn't ready for me. Glad I called before heading out. Didn't have the courtesy to call me before to tell me. It was a 2 hour delay from my original time. Plus when I called the salon they didn't have a person with that name working at that salon. Just a big mess! I wouldn't recommend this place at all! The stylist did a good job on my hair, but unfortunately it was thee worst experience I've ever had in a salon service wise. Regardless I still tipped over 30% because everyone has bad days, ya know? But then I drive off, look in the mirror and see that there was stain left on my head. I've never had ANYONE have such little respect for me to let me leave like that. You're not required to talk to your clients (which clearly she wanted NOTHING to do with me) but it's something else when you clearly look like you are bothered by my shear existence. I worked my ass off for the money I made today and all of it and then some went to making sure I left a good tip for literally the worst service of my life. I literally paid to get treated like dog shit. I went in for a color change and a style. She did very well as a hairdresser but I'm at a loss for how she let me walk out. Not that anyone cares but I'll definitely rather take myself to someone that's in school/training next time. I'm sure she's a nice person, maybe she's racist? My wedding day pictures were ruined because of Melinda. Where do I even begin? I'm not sure why she changed towards me and my sisters and we adored her when we first met her. She knew what she was doing, very professional and we decided to stick with her because we loved her work. For my sister's wedding, she hired a helper to help out with the bridesmaids hair and it was so much fun and loved how everything worked out that day. As soon as I got engaged, the first thing I did was text Melinda because I wanted to book her for the wedding day, I didn't want anyone else but Melinda because I felt like she was the only one I can trust with my hair and makeup. She replies to my text and I told her who I was and asked if we can schedule an appointment for a hair and makeup preview. She never really replied back to let me know what day would be good to go to the salon. After a few days of texting and no replies, I decided to call the salon to see if she even still worked there since she wasn't replying to my text, or move on and find someone else to do my hair. Surprisingly she was there and I got a hold of her and she finally made an appointment for the preview. So finally the day came where I went for a preview and everything went well, she was nice and sweet and we talked but I was truly hurt inside because she's been avoiding my text and it would take days until she replied. I told her how many bridesmaids I was going to have and she said she has someone in mind. So we set the time for wedding day and everything was cool. But would still take her a while until she responded to my texts if I had a question about something and wanted her opinion. At that point I was fed up with her but was too late to look for someone who I can trust with my hair since wedding day was so near. So wedding day, she had told me she wanted the bridesmaids to get there at 8:00 in the morning to get started on and she was going to start doing my hair at 9:00. The girl she hired was the one who started with the bridesmaids, and oh my God, my grandma could've probably curled their hair faster. So so slow, and not like it was a complicated hair style- was a half up/half down style. So I leave my house at 8:45 because I wanted to be at the salon at 9 exactly and didn't want to miss a minute since it was the wedding day and it takes longer for hair and makeup. I get to the salon on time and Melinda is not there. I start to panic because it took her 2hrs+ for my preview so I knew at that moment my day was ruined since pictures were going to start at 12. I texted her and she told me she was on her way. I sat at the salon waiting while my bridesmaids were getting their hair ready in slow motion ( im serious, the girl was that slow!!!! ). She finally arrives 30 minutes late! She walks in the salon and didn't even say "hey" or at least apologize for being LATE. I just couldn't believe what had just happened for her to be late and not even say a word when she walked in, made me not even want to look at her. She finally calls me over to her station and gets started with my hair. She tells me how the train was in the way and her kids had school that day blah blah blah. I just wanted her to finish so I can get the hell out of there. Ahh, so now its 12 and my photographer calls me and tells me she's at my house and I wasn't even done at the salon. At that point, I had all these emotions being built inside me, I was panicking and very stressed. FINALLY at around 1:45 she's done with my hair and make up but we had a problem; the girl who did the bridesmaids hair did an embarrassing job so Melinda had to fix the mistakes. We still went home and redo some of the girls hair because how awful of a job that helper did. I was late for my pictures, everything was delayed, all because of Melinda being late. Looking back, I wish I had just looked for someone else after Melinda took forever to reply back to my text and I had a feeling she was being weird, but everyone thought I was just stressing and to just stick with her and I WISH I didn't listen. Melinda became very unprofessional even though I was still being nice to her when she never replied to my text. I'll never recommend her to anyone else because I don't want what happened to me happening to someone else. I don't even like that salon or the people who work there because they are unfriendly, rude, and snobby and think too highly of that place when its really cluttered and dirty. Its not a high end salon like La Dolca Vita is but we'd only go there since Melinda worked there. read more

Got my hair done by Allie Akery. I needed my hair brightened from a dark drab blonde (almost light brown) and she worked a freaking miracle! I've never had such a GORGEOUS color blonde before!!! She's the bomb. Gave me wine, was extremely sweet, and with heavy highlights, low light pieces, a toner, cut AND style, I was out of there in literally a little over an hour. Go see Allie she's my hero! Oh and forgot to mention, that I live in LA. My good girlfriends get their hair done by Allie and they always have the BEST COLOR! Just went in to get my hair curled for my graduation tonight and I'm not pleased. My hair is flat already and I'm having to re curl it. It was decent when I left the salon but what really made me a little upset is the fact that I was being charged $40 to get my hair curled. I called and made an appt the day before and was told it would be $30. I know I may have semi long and thick hair but $40 is a little ridiculous considering it was only to curl my hair and I wasn't doing any sort of crazy hairstyle. Protege is an excellent salon and their massage therapist, Grace Torres, is FANTASTIC. She has a background in nursing, and is very knowledgeable. Most of her technique is done with clients lying comfortably on their backs, not face down, which is more common. This is wonderful if you have sinus issues (like me), and also if you have other health problems (such as being overweight, or having diabetes, etc.) that can make lying on your tummy for long periods of time uncomfortable. I highly recommend her if it's your first time getting massage therapy! read more

The salon itself is very dirty.. the carpets need badly to be replaced. There's a water leak that's been there forever. Stuff is all over the floors and crowded. The owner is extremely rude, and acts like you are putting her out if you ask a question. She also gossips about clients and employees ( very rude) and is very loud.
