My hair is grey and stubborn and asked for medium warm brown to cover my grey. When all was done you can still see most of my grey and I looks like a cheap attempt to go blonde. I was so disappointed and embarrassed that I wore a hat the rest of the day. When I made the appointment, I requested someone that has worked with grey hair, which I don't think he did. I can only speak to my experience with Mark. He was a lovely man who did what I asked, a quick trim when I first moved. The salon is in a decent location, has lots of parking and is well kept. Mark is the owner. If you're looking for a salon atmosphere this is a good place that I didn't, in the least, feel put out by. I was there for a quick trip and was treated as valuable but we were both aware I wasn't looking for a full-time hairdresser. He was professional, quick, courteous, and pleasant to be around. I would recommend him if you're looking for a full-time stylist, colorist, or if you have straight hair or some body. These curls needed a curl specialist. He was very accommodating as he even fit me in the same day with what was clearly a full time schedule based on how many people he was servicing while I was there. But I never felt neglected or like I wasn't listed to Redken salon. read more

The new salon is georgous with omg wtf flaws. (It's not decor that's gone sour!) I overheard two stylist talk about how they raise the prices on Groupon and then discount it. After reading the reviews on here I had to confirm these what othets thought. They were laughing at those who have left reviews. These two also talked about farts, bodily fluids and personal life struggles of fellow salon employees and clients. One of the foul mouthed stylist kids were playing around with the chairs and spinning. Then her husband came in. There seemed to be a group forming around me. They are so rude. The owner needs to have a better sense of pride. I get the fact he needs to rent booths but some of his stylists are horrible. No one wants to hear that foul mouthed "woman" for an hour or two. This was the only hair salon I was able to find open on a Monday, so I was so happy that they were open. Im from out of town so I had to rely on reviews on Yelp and they were helpful. Mark the owner and main hair stylist did my hair was super nice, but my hair didn't turn out that great for $130. I asked him to do a blonde ombré, and he didn't blend the bleach in my hair, so there's defined lines from black to blonde. I didn't notice at first cuz it's on my neck of my hair but when I put my hair up for work it totally shows! And he missed some spots too so I have black spots in the back of my head! I couldn't see it in the front but my friend took a picture of the back of my head & I saw how bad it looked! I paid way too much & I regret getting it done here. :( read more

My first experience with Panache was for a bridal package. I wanted everything to look perfect on my special day, so I made an appointment to have my hair and makeup done right before the wedding. My first appointment was about a month ahead of the wedding to get my hair colored, highlighted and find a hairstyle I'd like. I was fortunate to get Amy, who specializes in red hair and long hairstyles. She did such a great job with my color and hair that I will not have anyone else work with my hair. I have always made appointments ahead of time, and I've never had to wait long. While I have waited, I've often been asked by the staff if I'd like a beverage while I wait, which is nice. My only issue with Panache was with the makeup. On my wedding day, I had my makeup done and the lady sold me some of the makeup so I could use it for touch-ups throughout the day. That would have been great but the makeup was marked with the expiration date, and it had expired already. I guess that's not a big deal to most people, but this stuff was pretty pricey so I expected to get quality unexpired merchandise. The makeup artist did an excellent job on my makeup though! The experiences I've had at Panache have been pleasant. They made me look fantastic for my wedding, and I will always be grateful for their excellent service and the special care they took of my and my mother that day. I can't believe how lucky I got finding this salon. It was the first one I have been to since relocating to Bakersfield, and I couldn't be happier! Yes, its busy, but I always feel I receive great service and attention there. I see Ruby there, and she does my dark brown highlights perfectly- an achievement in itself! She's kind and patient even if you are high maintenance like me! There are many stylist there, I would say someone for most anybody, young or old. I would definitely recommend it.... We love Panache Salon. Even though this Salon is one of the busiest salons in Bakersfield, I always feel special during my appointment. Mark Lamas the salon's owner, has done my hair for over four years. I appreciate the fact that he is professional and treats his clients with respect. There is no gossip chatter in Mark's chair. It has been my experience that most salons indulge in idle chatter about clients, friends, and exes. Panache isn't about any of that - when you leave you don't feel that the entire place is talking about you. One of the reasons I LOVE this salon is the fact that I can dash in and grab a GREAT gift for a birthday, shower, or hen gathering. I purchase my hair and facial products here too. My husband purchased a groupon voucher for me to get my hair done for my birthday and we have had the worse experience. I called the stylist Sabrina on her cell to make the appointment early one morning a couple weeks ago. I didnt hear from her all morning so I called the salon later that same day to speak with someone at the salon to make my appointment, I figured she was busy. That is why I called the salon and not her. They placed her on the phone she was short and rude telling me that I needed to just text her the information and she'd get back to me when she could because she was with clients and hung up the call. I asked my husband to text her because I was livid, he's trying to do something nice for me and she has a bad attitude. We texted her later that evening and she then proceeds to tell us she only takes the groupon vouchers Thursdays and Fridays which wasnt anywhere on the groupon and neither was having to confirm my appointment in order to keep it. She sends him a confirmation text the day before my appointment and since he didn't reply that day she cancelled my appointment and scheduled someone else even though he told her day of early in the morning I'd be there. I took time off of work and everything which I didnt want to do to begin with but she only saw the groupon clients during the week so I didnt have a choice. Come to find out she had did the same thing to one of my husbands coworkers a while back. So needless to say we will not be seeing her and I wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing her groupons either...Now I'm being demanded to delete the post from both the Stylist and the Business owner because the stylist is contracted, but yet I do not see the owner harassing clients to remove 5 Star reviews of stylist who are contracted as well. I understand that most salons rent booths to hairdressers and can't control the level of customer service that is provided by their tenants. However, as a business owner customer service should be #1 priority in their establishment. Hairdressers with poor customer service are a direct reflection of the salon as a whole. Sabrina provided horrible customer service. A simple apology and rescheduled appointment would have been the best thing to do but she did not handle the situation with her customer in mind. I hope that the owner addresses the issue. If there are no customers, you have no business. I will not be purchasing any Groupons from Sabrina. I hate to leave a bad review however people should be warned before coming here! First of all avoid buying any Groupons for this place! They're a total rip off!! I'm new to Bakersfield so I thought buying a Groupon to try out a new hairdresser was a good idea... WRONG! They fail to tell you in the fine print, a top weave only includes 10 foils. If you want additional foils it will cost you $65, I agreed to the additional cost because I waited over a month for this appointment, I thought getting more foils will give me noticeable results.. I was wrong again!!! There is absolutely no color difference at all! My hairdresser was Lauralea, who ironically works next to Sabrina. (Another Groupon hairdresser) I say ironically because during my visit they complained about other yelp reviews against Sabrina, negative reviews for the exact same reason I'm here! Horrible service with hidden fees! Lauralea "warned" me that I wouldn't be able to see my results with their lighting and Sabrina agreed, they have horrible lighting, I was told once I got home I would see immediate results.. I should've insisted on her showing me the difference there, I would've either paid less or stayed till I got what I paid for! Instead I'm out $140 for a stinking haircut!! On top of all this a male hairdresser said something rude about my hair as he walked by! JUST AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! read more
