Two years later, and the staff is still miserable. I asked a question about the 45 section, and was dismissed with indifference, then when I wanted to pay for items that had no price tag, the man, I assume to be an owner, acted as if I was bothering him by wanting to make a purchase. You know what would be cool, room to move around the store without having to step over boxes, and if there was some sort of organization of the 45 records. Just a thought. read more

The guy who runs the shop was very helpful. I am an amateur collector (I just started this Christmas) so I barely know much. They had every artist that I was looking for and most of the records I bought were under $5. I did ask about a very rare psychedelic record by Yahowha 13 and the guy knew all about them. He told me I would probably only find the record on a collector's shelf because they sell for hundreds and thousands. His knowledge of music was vast and I guess that is something you look for at a record shop. I even saw an Elvis record I already have for about 1/3 of the price I bought it for. I guess I was ripped off in Palm Springs. This place is great to find cheap records and to discover music from your favorite artists. Very cool place. read more

After spending a fair share amount of money here, I have lost complete interest with this establishment. The people that work here are complete tools. While they have a great selection of records, their pompous attitude makes for a quite unsatisfying specialty record shop experience. I eventually got sick of their bullshit and started taking my business elsewhere. A perfect example of how they treat someone who has dropped a few thousand dollars here over the course of two years is as follows. I called them a few weeks ago to see if they were participating in Record Store Day 2018 as they are listed as a participating store on the RSD website. The tool on the phone proceeds to tell me that they are not and suggests for me to go read the fine print on the website as not all stores are participating. How was I supposed to know if the fine print applied had I not called and/or made a trip there? You get the idea... read more

We live in Vegas, but head down to the SFV now and again...I grew up in Northridge way, way back and I am always on the hunt for neat places to visit in So Cal...One of my hobbies is listening to vinyl albums...Being a radio DJ back in my youth I still cherish the rich, full sound of an album played on a nice stereo set up...That is why I am always sampling record stores here and there...Just looked this one up on Google and away I went...ATOMIC RECORDS is a simple storefront business in the older part of Burbank...Through the door you will find some magnificent treasures...In just a short period of time I had my hands loaded with albums...Most in mint condition and so reasonably priced...Trust me, when you can score these audio puppies at this cost you are way ahead of the vinyl curve...Meet up with the owner, Rick, and he is one dedicated fellow...He lives to get good product in the racks at ATOMIC RECORDS...Live in LA? Visiting? Regardless, you need to head to the Valley and check this place out...It will be a regular stop for me whenever I stop in LA...Good listening! read more

I've been going to this place since I was a teenager and really, it's the dollar rack of CDs, that keeps me coming back. They also have some decent prices on used CDs. Bought myself a lot excellent Beatles albums, Duran Duran, Sade and other things. The customer service.. is a non factor to me. The first few times I went in, I tried talking up the people working there. Big mistake. 90% percent of the people that work there are snobby and disconnected. There was another review that called these people racist. That's a bit of an overreaction. I think they're just rude. Almost like, hey I'm Robert Christgau and you're some dumb plebian. Or at least that's my experience. Not a good business model, but hey.. I'm here for cheap CDs. So, bottom line. There's deals to be had. Don't expect much help though. read more

Solid record store with deals to be had for those who know how to look, fair prices on mid range stuff, and lots of baller stuff on the walls. Just as a browsing experience probably the best wall in LA. The 50 cent bins occasionally contain gold. I found a $6 Willie Wright "Telling The Truth" once. Atomic also boasts an excellent DVD and laserdisc selection. The look and feel of the shop was just right when these guys opened in 96 or whenever, and feels just as fresh today. read more

I used to come in here all the time when I had a bit of spare change as the record and compact disc collection was pretty radical. I got quite a bit of mileage out of the dollar cd rack too (Found a lot of good/poppy 90s and 00s music in there). The selection is very good and quite diverse and you can easily spend over an hour thumbing through music. My only complaint is the employees. About 80% (Not very scientific, I know) of my experience with them has been negative, aside from one kind lady that happened to be working there one day. God forbid you ask questions or for some assistance. It's like you took them away from their "intensive" task of staring into space. You're better off knowing what you want and figuring it out before you walk in. read more

Love that I have a record store within walking distance of the maision. However my fella dislikes this due to one fact alone, they have a large inventory of jazz records. Which in turn, I adore, and usually walk home with the added weight of twelve or so records. Every once in awhile I'll find a classic LP I've been scouting and this in turn makes us both happy. I wish the collection of rock was a little more current or that other collectors would donate their unwanted classics so I could go and scoop them up. It's definitely a neighborhood store with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. read more

Good store for the most part. I've bought albums here that looked clean but didn't play up to their visual condition. I suspect that they have one hell of a record cleaning machine. I think I'm probably done with Atomic after buying a record that I ended up not liking that much for $20. I listened to it right when I got home, found it kind of more run-of-the-mill than I thought it was gonna be and put it in my sell back stack. I got around to selling it a couple months later and they said it was "too scratched". Granted, I probably should have noticed it right away & maybe I did and it didn't bother me 'cause I thought I'd like it. read more

In general, Burbank is a boring area (in my opinion) so when I found out there was a record store here I was excited to check it out. I was not disappointed! I've only ever bought used CDs here BUT I've found some pretty bad ass stuff on sale for .99! Sometimes even items that are still in original packaging! I will definitely be coming back. read more

Wow. Awesome. Amazing! This is my type of store. And the store I was looking for. They don't have good stores like this in Tennessee where I just came from. Was thrilled to be able to find this place. Would love to work at a store like this too. Excellent prices on DVD's and CD's, good Vinyl collection from what I could tell, I wasn't interested in vinyl though. I was able to get TV on DVD for a really inexpensive deal, my wallet was happy! I will recommend this place to anyone I know and will definitely come back. The parking is only 2 hours so I'd have to watch out for that because I could spend an easy 2 hours just browsing the CD's. While I didn't find a band I was looking for, I found tons of movies to choose from. It's been hard to find stores that carry Bouncing Souls, Zebrahead, New Found Glory, MxPx, Vandals, No Use For a Name, Lagwagon, Eyedea and Abilities, but I'm definitely gonna visit Atomic again. I don't go shopping much and there's so few stores that carry products that I like or will buy, but Atomic is one that has stuff I like and will buy! What a great Christmas present just to find the store. read more

This record store is my least favorite of the established LA record stores. Most of the lps in the bins are boring. The records on the wall are cool but very expensive. They charge top prices for lps that aren't top quality(much like Wombleton). I've been a sucker twice and bought records that should be NearMint to justify the price only to be dissappointed later when listening at home. I would advise all buyers to examine records closely. One of the two records I bought here was warped...but the warp was difficult to see until seen spinning on a turntable. The warp was also audible and ruined a quiet, peaceful record. This is my favorite store for finding vinyl and used DVDs. I have gotten Henrix Live at Monterey, Elvis's Comeback Album all at a great price. DVD finds have been great as well. Breakfast At Tiffany's and Bridge on the River Kwai for $14. All in excellent condition. I find that if I am in the mood to buy something, but nothing specific, this is the store for me, because I don't feel like I gave up too much money due to mood shopping. read more

Ventured back to the good ole days of music here yesterday for the first time and I'm already planning a trip back today. My hubby and I have been wanting to get back into the goodness that is vinyl records for quite sometime and his birthday today seemed like the perfect excuse. Found a few albums but then I stumbled upon the mother of all recorded goodness "Sgt. Peppers" from the Beatles. I couldn't believe my luck. It was tucked away in a box yet to be priced and I was so giddy at my discovery and good fortune I could hardly stand it. The owner priced it out For me and $12.99 was a steal!! It even still had the fully intact extra sheet with the cutouts inside. I still remember buying my first Vinyl record...it was Billy Joel and I'm hoping I might find it when I go back again. The selection here is pretty great. Prices are very reasonable. Lots of choices in the older music category. With so many artists venturing back to this lost art form I wish they had a small selection of newer music but that's what Amazon is for I guess. Everyone on the staff was very nice and helpful. Looks like the stock changes around pretty quickly so I'm glad we just a few live just a few blocks up the street. read more

Best record store in LA! I had been looking for Linda Ronstadt vinyls for about a year now and the only place I could find them was online and they were crazy expensive. At this store, I ended up buying four because the prices were so great, and I also happened to buy an Abba vinyl for 50 cents. I couldn't be happier. This place is wonderful. read more

Yeah, it's true. I've shopped record stores across the country (and a few in Europe) and this is the funnest and best place - so many interesting LPs and such fair, or even great, prices. It always amazes me when I go into other boutique record stores around L.A. and see mediocre copies of the same records and double or even triple the price. I've recently had great fun spending (in multiple sessions) a big gift certificate I got for Atomic from co-workers. Among many collections, I'm into collecting odd die-cut album covers and pop-ups and covers with "thinginess." Where else could you get a copy of Jefferson Airplane's now-deleted Long John Silver (not their best, musically, to be sure), with the humidor pop-up packaging intact, not used (as if you just bought it), for $8. read more

Very good record shop, particularly if you're down with jazz and soundtracks and classic rock since they have all of those genres in spades. Curiously enough, you will almost never find used vinyl from the past 20 years here. It's as if time stopped in 1990. They do have a fair amount of recent CDs, but this place isn't a destination for that format. The prices are generally speaking more than fair and while they aim for the collector market to some degree, nothing seems to be jacked up and you won't really overpay for anything here as far as I can tell. But it's also the kind of place I walk out of thinking how I'd like to someday sell all but 50 of my records and not turn into one of those unwashed middle-aged guys whose best relationships are with his twelve-inch singles. read more
