Came here with my cousin looking for some classicl vinyl from back in the day. This place is the epitome of cool. And while we didn't find the particular albums that we were looking for, we were blown away by the sheer ambiance and amount of product they do possess. Being a child of the 70's and '80s, we could have looked through their collection for four or five hours easy since I think those were the greatest decades of music with artist who not only achieved legendary status, but even one hit wonders that what have you going back into time. In fact, we were joking with the staff that we easily could have opened and closed the place down by doing an entire day shift right alongside them! The place really blows you away from a 5 senses standpoint as well. The sights, sounds, and smells all hit you at once-and in here and on this occasion, that was a great thing. If you follow a little hallway it leads you into a completely different section into what seems like a another small universe or at least galaxy. Once on the other side of this hallway which leads you to another portion of the building entirely, your met with even more records and additional musical and odd treasures. To top it off, a bar with alcohol awaits you! Lol You can't make this place up! Bottom line here folks is this is a really cool, cool place-especially for those who love classic music, a good beer, and the idea of hunting for what you want. I'd highly recommend this place....just be prepared to put in some serious time for research and for your senses to be able to take it all in. read more

Records are beat to hell and they still ask insane prices. No I will not buy a scratched copy of the wall for $75. Great place for idiots walking around Hollywood who don't know a a record from a CD to buy junk. Tried selling a batch of rare LPs to the owner (short dude with a pencil stache) but gave me such a lowball offer I left. Went to atomic records the next day and sold them for my asking price. Record Parlour is a hard pass if you respect music. read more

The 4 stars are for really nice staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming through here for almost 10 years. If you're visiting from out of town really the aesthetic would be the biggest reason to stop at this shop. These will generally be older more common records. Records are priced really high for the condition they'll be. Or even just priced out of whack completely. That said, they do kind of balance out former neighbor Amoeba well if you're planning on visiting them both. read more

The Record Parlor is hands down my favorite record shop in L.A. I've been coming here for years and have easily picked up over 200 records -- everything from classic soul and funk to golden era hip-hop gems. The prices are always on point, and the selection stays fresh so there's always something new to dig through. Chadwick, the owner, is the real deal. Super cool dude, always takes the time to chop it up and talk music. You can tell he cares about the culture and about his customers. As a DJ and hip-hop head, I can say this spot has been a huge part of building out my collection. Stopped by The Record Parlour on Saturday night for some live music and had a blast! Kiefer Detrick and his band rocked, and I was bummed when their set ended! I was excited to see his music was on Spotify, so I could listen to some more of his songs. It was a bit confusing to find the bar and live performances because they were around the corner from the actual record store on Selma Ave. There was a long table in the middle of the room that you could sit on barstools at to watch the musicians, and also standing room options around the side of the bar which were filled with old fashioned arcade games. One of my go to spots in the neighborhood. They are great because their inventory swaps out quicker than the surrounding vinyl stores. They really do move big collections into the store quite frequently. The collectibles up on the wall change up all the time so it's very common for me to stop in 2 sometimes even 3 times a week just to catch the newest items. Very friendly staff as well. read more
