My Aunt was recently a resident in your Atria Golden Creek (Irvine, CA)  memory care unit. After a fall and a recovery at a rehabilitation facility, we moved her to Atria to be closer to her son and in a different environment. I toured four different facilities and Atria was a clear front runner for me. It was nestled in a familiar community, it was clean, bright, friendly and had all the amenities I was looking for. And the food was remarkably good! Lisa Paton, the Community Sales Director, gave me a tour on that first visit. What I remember most was that she seemed to know every resident's name and she greeted each enthusiastically and warmly - as they did in response. She was professional and serious but she was also lighthearted and joyful. She was always available for a question and was eager to try to accommodate any request. It was comforting during a difficult time in our lives.  While I want to highlight Lisa's assistance in this process, she is one of many who, with every visit, made me thankful I choose Atria Golden Creek for my aunt. There is the incredibly friendly and helpful disposition of Michelle at the front office. Lindsay who has assisted in answering financial questions with a light, friendly attitude. Even Debbie and Cindy in the Activities department, who have allowed my son to come in and volunteer with Bingo in order to further his Boy Scout Merit Badge. There is a feeling of professionalism and respect for the residents, but also of caring and joy at Atria Golden Creek. While it makes me feel good to be there, the real proof is in the improved well-being of my Aunt since she arrived. While there, she had gained weight and her memory improved so much that she has been made eligible to be moved to the assisted living side. Thank you for providing an environment that has given my family and I peace in our decision to have my Aunt in your care. There's plenty of parking, and the facility is gorgeous. So many amenities are offered on each floor. The receptionist is helpful, and the dining room is located near the entrance. There's also a café in between. My only gripe is that some of the servers are rude and condescending every time I go there to pick up meals for my clients. I'm there to also be of service and help them, so the tone they speak to me in is really off-putting, especially because of the fact that they work in such a high-end setting. Other than that, this building feels like a hotel, and I would definitely consider this in the future. The employees that come into the residential area are attentive. These people clearly do not know how to deal with Alzheimers that's for sure, avoid the memory care unit. My grandmother was staying here (briefly), and we began to realize the scope of the issues here. Every time we visited she was dirty and not bathed, they don't cut finger nails here because "we aren't allowed too". Ok...so then who does? Clearly my grandmother can't. We spent that day cutting her infected toenails ourselves. She would pretty much always smell like pee and be so dirty that we ended up coming every day to watch her and hiring extra care-givers to come and take care of her (this is on top of the cost of THIS place). Within a month and a half we realized this place is incapable of handling this type of care and moved my grandmother to a medical facility with real nurses. What we should have done from the beginning. I won't even go into all the details regarding the staff, which we had major issues with. They can't keep people working here. Every time we came it was "Oh, I don't know, I've only been here a week". Geez...does anyone know what's going on at this place?! Some are OK can be very helpful...others don't do anything and avoiding cleaning "accidents" until the next shift of caregivers arrive. Seriously, they let people sit in their own filth because they don't want to do it. What kind of people do that?! The director knew my grandmothers condition before we came here, they even interviewed her beforehand. We weren't sure if they could handle her, we had our reservations...but they ASSURED us they could. (for reasons involving all the empty rooms perhaps? They say anything to get their rooms filled I guess...) What a horrible mistake it was coming here. I don't know about the rest of this place, I'm sure it's lovely...it's beautiful inside, the food and cafe are great, and as I said many of the staff members here are wonderful people. But our family had serious issues with some people who just didn't care about my grandmother and treated her as an annoyance (including the director of the memory care unit). It's just not the way you want to see your loved one treated. read more

I agree with the other reviewer that rated the place one star. My mother in law is here in the memory are unit and we are looking to move her ASAP. Here's what you need to know about this place: THEY DON'T HAVE NURSES OR ANYONE CAPABLE OF DEALING WITH EVEN SIMPLE MEDICAL ISSUES!! They will swear up and down that a med-tech can handle anything but they cannot even give a simple aspirin or pallitative care. Nothing!! Even with doctor's orders it seems to be an issue. If you want adult daycare with superb activites, then Atria and it's "social model" are for you. If your family member has anything so simple as a headache or another OTC medicine complaint, they will suffer unnecessarily at the hands of people who claim "we legally can't do that" to every request you make. At $7K per month, it's highway robbery. Don't let the renovation and their empty promises fool you, as it did me. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed in this facility ! My best friend's mother has lived here for over a year and passed away this week . After speaking with the billing office , we were told that her apartment must be completed vacated by the end of the month , or pay $5700 for the next month rent . Her mother passed on Monday and the funeral was planned for Saturday , that made it necessary to have the apartment completely emptied by Friday . We were never offered a few days grace period , a reasonable expectation given that fact of a death . We were not even offered a pro rated amount for a few more days breathing room. So disappointed in the way they treat customers , I would not recommend this facility for anyone . Obviously their only motivation is money not care for the elderly or their families . If zero stars was an option that what they would get ! read more

I been working here for 2 month and the environment it amazing!!! Resident are very joyful to be around with. The staff are amazing we work as a teem and we get everything done. I feel like i'm in a big family! I definitely recommend this community for work or a place for your love ones! read more

My parents and I have toured this facility and the other one, Atria Woodbridge. They decided to live in the Woodbridge facility for the convenience to their church. They have spent quite a bit of time over at this facility and love the staff and amenities so much as Woodbridge. Jessica Mosier and the staff really took great care of my parents compared to the other places we toured outside of Atria. They are so kind and responsive! They just love it at both facilities! The staff at both facilities really made it a very easy decision for both of them. Thanks Jessica and staff for your help and patience with the decision making process. I toured many retirement communities for my mother and was thoroughly unimpressed. There are a few new ones I looked at that are nice looking but the staff are very unhappy and unpleasant. This community looks very nice, but the staff really made me feel like this is the best place for my mom. Everyone was smiling and happy and greeted us both very pleasantly. I ended up moving her in a few months ago and to my surprise she is doing better then she has been in the last ten years! She has physically improved but more importantly to us she has thrived socially and made so many friends. I honestly thought she would be better staying home and hiring help there, but I was totally wrong. My mom deserves the best, and I am so happy that she is getting that with Atria. read more

The caregiving staff is angels, every one of them. They treat the residents with respect and compassion. The dining room is outstanding - always several delicious options to choose from and the waitstaff is kind and patient. My family is fortunate to have Mom so well-taken care of. read more

I am an industry professional and have had the pleasure of working with this particular community for many years. In my recent experience, I have found Atria Golden Creek to be one of the best communities in Orange County. There are many options available in the local area and not every one is the perfect fit for a loved one so I would urge families to work closely with someone who knows what communities are best suited for their particular needs. I know for a fact that the management at this Atria is committed to making sure that residents are appropriate and that the staff can adequately meet their care needs. No assisted living community is perfect and without flaw but I have seen with my own eyes how happy and engaged their residents are. In fact, I was considering placing my own grandmother here but she ended up staying in Northern California :) read more

I have worked with the ATRIA communities for the last 10 years or so due to being in the Senior Living Industry. I tour many communities and Atria Golden Creek, is one of the greatest communities in its area. It offers not only someone to be as Independent as possible but also offers Assisted Living to families for their loved ones. In Irvine Atria Golden Creek is unique because if a loved one has memory impairment they have memory care so they would not have to move again. Atria has been a good option for many of the families I help especially if they are looking in the Irvine or nearby area. Another fact that sticks out in my mind is Atria Golden Creek is one of the first in its kind to be a "GREEN" community. read more

My grandma lived here and loved it! Great care staff, great food and overall a great environment. She participated in daily exercise classes, music therapy, and enjoyed weekly entertainment. The memory care unit was very loving and supportive with all of my families needs. Definitely a 5 star community. read more

I want to recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing place for their loved one to live! Jessica was amazing in helping us set up a tour and visiting the location! She was knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions and we look forward to moving our mother in shortly. Out of all the places we have looked this one by far was the most honest and friendly, they do not take advantage of the situation along with actually caring! I even brought up a review by Amanda S. and like I thought there is always two sides to every story and they even treated my question with respect! Both my parents were in the memory unit for over a year and got great care. 94 & 96. The staff loved my parents and helped with all their needs. We were there on a regular basis and never felt like any of the residents were ignored or left alone. Each staff helps multiple residents so it is not a one on one facility but no place is. Scheduled a tour because we are looking for a place for my mother that is comfortable. After looking around we scheduled a tour and I couldn't be more impressed!!! We met with Jessica Mosier and the only reason I remember her full name is because of the amazing job she did!!! She cared about us and our mom unlike a lot of places we went, she took the time to answer our questions and actually cared about what we wanted for our mom. I am blown away by the service here, the facility and staff are extremely friendly and almost go out of their way to make you feel at home. Our mom will be ready to move in shortly and this is the place we are choosing! If you are in the search for a place for a loved one stop looking and call, ask for Jessica and you will not be disappointed.
