I have come here once a month for the past 10 months for a concussion. I have always loved the quality of care given at this urgent care. I usually see Dr. Rene and I love her! She is so thorough, understanding, and validating. She truly cares so much for her patients and their healing. The nurses and front office staff have always been amazing too. From the beginning: I always ask not to be told my weight (I used to have an eating disorder) and the assistant immediately tells me my weight. Takes me to the room to take my vitals. Leaves the room and comes back to ask something he forgot. A few minutes later...he does it again. Then again. Then again and goes "oops wrong room." I finally get seen after an hour and a half, the practitioner didn't know how to help me (understandable, they can't know everything) so suggests I use Chat GPT to figure out what to do...are you serious? In the meantime, someone else barged into the room and also said "oops, wrong room." Insanely unprofessional. Will never return. read more

I don't understand why this place has bad reviews because yesterday, I had a tough time finding an urgent care that accepted my daughter's insurance. After my husband and I made several calls, we finally came across Sand Canyon Urgent Care. They told us there was no wait, so we rushed over immediately since my 3-year-old daughter was in a lot of pain from an earache. Check-in was very easy, everything was done on the phone, which made the process smooth. The staff was extremely welcoming and even remembered that my husband had been the one calling. The male nurse who helped us was incredibly kind, and once the doctor came in, she carefully checked my daughter's ears and confirmed it was a bad infection. She immediately prescribed antibiotics, and we were on our way. The only downsides I experienced: the phone reception is very slow they do offer free WiFi, but it actually seemed slower than using my own data. Besides that in office experience everything went smoothly and quickly. Also, when we went to CVS to pick up the prescription, it wasn't ready and later we got a text saying some information was missing. So we weren't able to pick up the prescription yesterday, I need to call and follow up on that today. Overall, I am very grateful we found this urgent care. The staff truly made us feel cared for, and despite the minor hiccups, I would definitely recommend Sand Canyon Urgent Care for their professionalism, welcoming environment, and quality of care. read more

Been coming here for years because of the convenience of being able to schedule an appointment to help with the wait times. However, that is no longer the case since we waited 2 hours after our appointment time before we were seen. The staff took all the walk-ins first and then we waited another 40 mins in the room. I was able to make an appointment online and all my info was saved since the last time I was here. The check in process was easy and a son as I arrived, I was taken to a room within a few minutes. The nurse was very kind and patient. They were super busy so I expected a little wait but it wasn't bad. The doctor had a great bedside manner and was able to confirm my suspicions about my injury. She showed my a few exercises and told me how to treat my injury. I received great care and would come back here again. read more

Very poor service and unprofessional staff. The employees and doctors at this urgent care have a very bad attitude. They are rude, not friendly at all I had a terrible experience and do not recommend this place at all. I am a person who does not have high blood pressure. I have had multiple physical tests done at Kaiser and Hoag Hospital, and all my results are normal. Despite this, this clinic insists that I have high blood pressure and that I need to be on medication, which is completely unnecessary. What is even more concerning is that at my workplace there are only about 15 employees, and 8 of them have been told the exact same thing by this clinic -- that they have high blood pressure and need medication. This raises serious concerns about their medical practices and the way they diagnose patients. Zero professionalism. Not recommended. read more

My infection turned out to be bacterial. The doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics. The infection cleared quickly. New Year, same sick symptoms. Can't say this is the first place I planned to visit to kick off the new year but alas, here I am! I discovered this office thanks to my medical group. I have a tricky Select HMO plan and my insurance provider can somehow never get it right with the doctor's offices they recommend to me as the office never seems to accept my insurance. Luckily for me, this one did and it wasn't too far off. For starters, there is plenty of parking. I'm always super ecstatic about this one. I'm not ecstatic, however, about the wait times in the office. I know, I know. One can never anticipate how many patients they'll get on a given day. But... you can! And all you have to do is have an online check-in and waitlist option for the ease of your convenience and mine. Now I do have to be honest and say that they technically do have one, but when I went online to try and check in at 3PM the only time slot they had was for 7PM. It's too soon for me to tell if this is a common practice but for comparison, Hoag Urgent Care allows you to check in for a variety of time slots so I wasn't really sure if it was just because this office was actually busy. From the time I checked in at the kiosk, filled my paperwork, got my vitals checked, and actually got seen by the Physician's Assistant, over an hour had passed. Granted, there were 5 patients before me so I could tell it was going to take a while. My PA was someone named Serena. She was very sweet and thorough. She asked a lot of questions about my symptoms and ran a few tests to ensure we could rule out all possibilities. Once I got my diagnosis and prescription, I was sent off on my way to get my medication. Luckily, I had paid for my copay prior to being seen so I could expedite the whole process. -- Overall, I didn't have a terrible experience as it isn't their fault that they were busy. I just think that they may have been able to see patients faster if they had more than just one PA/NP/MD working that day. (100/100--2019) read more

Sonya, who works the front desk, is so kind and helpful. I showed up one day for an illness and was prescribed an antibiotic. The next day I was feeling much worse and assumed I was prescribed the wrong antibiotic based off of research I did about the illness. I was being very annoying by calling multiple times and even showing up in person to get the doctor to give me a call back concerning my illness and Sonya was very reassuring each time that the doctor would call me. I felt the need to do this because I have had bad experiences with this urgent care in the past on multiple occasions, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5. It's hit and miss with the doctors and the care you receive here, BUT Sonya and one of the nurses who takes vitals are consistently fantastic. I know I said we wouldn't be coming back, but it's the only one in the area that takes my insurance.. after open enrollment, I probably won't return to this urgent care due to the bad experiences. read more

Went here for a pre-employment physical. The place is hidden in a small business park off Laguna Canyon Rd. Not too busy but wait can be a little long (30-40min). Plan accordingly. Once in, Medical provider and medical assistant got through all the various components of the physical. They had trouble finding one of my veins for my blood test because I was a little dehydrated. They had to poke both arms. However, one of their staff members Yadira was able to find it really quick. Props to staff for making it quick once your name is actually called. Seems like service for non pre-employment physicals is quick because other people around me went in for illness and got out pretty quick. read more

First, the in person experience was fine, I had to get some testing and a physical for my job and everything went by smooth. Now, I was told they'd send over the paperwork to my job, so no need to hand me my paperwork back. A few weeks went by and my job never received the paperwork. I ended up having to call and explained my issue to the lady over the phone. She put me on hold for about 15 minutes, came back and introduced herself and asked how she could help me. I said "oh hi you put me on hold about my paperwork, is there an update?" and got hung up on. I called back and in a nice tone I say, "hey! I think you might've hung up on me on accident, I'm calling about my paperwork being sent to my job?" and immediately this lady goes in a rude tone, "Im not her so I have no clue what you're talking about. What do you want". I explain my scenario again, she says that they don't send physical paperwork, and will email it to me. Then I go "wonderful, do you need my ema-", hung up on again. I've been in customer service for 6 years, there was no reason to treat me this way, I was positive and made sure to come off nice. It seems like even from reviews, the receptionists need some training or need to know how to treat people better. read more

I have been coming to this location for years, unfortunately the front check in service is getting worse, the attitude is rude and uncaring.

I took my mother to this location, and I never experienced so much difficulty filling out the urgent care's online forms sent to me via a text message after check-in. The receptionists seemed unsure of how to assist me with completing my mother's online forms. While completing the forms in the lobby using my cell phone, I noticed issues with the website. For example, the website did not allow me to submit a photo of my mother's insurance card, but I was able to submit a photo of her ID card. No matter how hard I tried with the help of a receptionist, the photo of the insurance card could not be submitted online successfully. When I selected the option to enter insurance information manually, nothing came up on the screen. So, I showed my cell phone to the receptionist, and she selected the option to pay out of pocket, then mentioned that there was no other choice but to choose this option. Even though the receptionist eventually entered my mother's insurance information separately into the computer, I don't think it is professional to tell an insured patient that there is no other choice but to select the option of paying out of pocket on the online form. I am disappointed that the receptionist did not provide the hard copy format of the forms when I discussed the problems I was experiencing when completing the online forms. Anyway, my advice for this urgent care facility is to provide more training to their receptionists on how to correctly help patients when they encounter website problems, and have some methods available if patients have difficulty completing the online version of the forms. read more

I had to visit Sand Canyon Urgent Care recently for a dog bite that had become infected and couldn't have had a better experience, The entire staff was exceptional and made my visit way better than expected. Check in was fast and easy and I was able to see a Doctor right away. The Physician, Shannon, was knowledgeable and was able to quickly diagnose and treat me. I came here for a drug test screening for employment and I had to hold my pee in for about 2hours.I guess 2 hours is their standard wait time.There is no appointment option for the drug test/screening. I go to the Irvine Urgent Care by the Diamond Jamboree and it is the best !!!(no employee/drug test screening there unfortunately ),but for any health emergency visit ,I highly recommend them ! Also,front desk kept my ID for about 1 hour(I had to go back twice to ask for it back ) Shouldn't you just make a copy and hand back instantly ?
