Ordered chicken tenders, fries and chedder broccoli soup. Chicken had a strange taste, like it sat out too long. Tenders were burned. Asked for extra crispy fries and got limp and soggy. Fast service and good, creamy soup (that the delivery guy promptly dropped upon arrival, but most stayed in the container). When a restaurant can't be bothered to tie their bags closed before delivering, that's a key. Never again. read more

Not sue what the hype about this place is. The line was around the corner to get in on a Friday night. Once in, the bar is upstairs and it smelled awful. There were a ton of people and two main bar areas. To the left of the stairs or to the right. To the right are some pool tables, but it is so crowded, I'm not sure how anyone can have properly play the game. To the left is a more open area with some tables, but mostly standing room. Despite the number of people there, the wait for drinks is not bad. My favorite part of the bar (besides leaving) was the photobooth machine they have. It proved to be quite entertaining and you can even post the photos to social media right from the machine. I would describe this style of cooking as salt with a side of food! Every bit of my meal was drowned in salt. I ordered a patty melt cooked medium with a side of tots. I couldn't even eat half of my meal before my mouth waived a white flag in defeat. Not only that, but the toast was burned to a black crisp and the burger patty was a giant slab of salty, over cooked meat. My mouth still feels raw writing this review. They have great entrees (I had the pasta special after a hike up Gregory Canyon not so long ago), but really shine in the sandwich department. They've also got one of the hippest and out-of-the-way locales in the city, and it's a nice place to hang in the evening, especially when they've got live music. read more

I'm definitely a fan. We've been here a handful of times both when living in Boulder and after leaving. I've eaten both breakfast and dinner here and enjoyed them immensely. Food was yummy, prices solid and good drink specials. Our most recent experience was worth mentioning them on Yelp. We had family in town and were up in Boulder touring the sights. I had an entertainment book coupon so we stopped here for lunch and found out that they served breakfast till 4pm on the weekends. A big plus for me! The waitress (who was really sweet) promptly took our order and went to brew us a pot of coffee. A few minutes later another waiter came and asked if our order had been taken. He came back to confirm the order and ran to the kitchen to make sure it was under way. It seemed to be taking a while for breakfast as the table nearby us got their food very quickly. We eventually got our food and told the waiter we still hadn't received our coffee. So he ran off and another man came back with one piping hot cup of coffee, which was when we asked for the two more we ordered. So when he came back with the other two after our request we asked what was going on. He said that a family issue had sprung up with the waitress and they were scrambling to cover her tables. Our food was delicious. The huevos rancheros was excellent. Really fresh and tasty. The challah french toast was also tasty and the hashbrowns and bacon were cooked just to my liking. Crispy but without being burned. The manager and the waiter/cook did a great job taking care of us and asked about our every need. They also covered our entire check and ultimately handled a difficult situation in a way that I thought was really professional and kind. We hadn't complained to the waiter or manager and definitely would have paid for our meals despite the snaffus. I think the Attic deserves props for great service in a tough situation as well as delicious food at good prices. I've been to far more expensive, places with crappier food and terrible service that didn't even so much as apologize. read more

Went to the Attic the first time yesterday with a friend for lunch. They have a great deal.... any burger for $5 on Monday for lunch! I got "The Attic" burger which is provolone, grilled onions and smoked bacon with a side of their homemade bbq sauce. Yumbo! The steak fries were great as well. Free Pool - good ( 2 unwarped tables, straight cues) 2. 75 cent foosball 3. Golden Tee Live machine 4. Old School stick hockey game 5. lots of friendly, willing opponents Comfort / Convenience factors: 1. Very comfortable couches by the pool tables 2. 2 bars - one for each area 3. real friendly wait staff / bartenders 4. separate seating area for food / drinks 5. they make last call at 1.45am which is a nice feature 6. music is fantastic - oldies to hip hop mixed together, very solid The place is normally not packed until 1am or so, which is somewhat nice - in general the crowd is much more relaxed and friendly vs. denver. I'm a little biased here because i've grown up with this place since it started 5 years ago, but this is the ultimate neighborhood bar in Boulder. Friday night, find me at the end of the bar ordering a shot of chilled Jack and a Coors Light. It's the closest thing to Cheers that i've ever known in my life. The owners are great, they really make you feel like it's your second home. The wait staff is always nice. Even the cooks are your friends. Plus there's free pool in the back, which is hard to find these days... As far as food goes, the prices are super-reasonable, and the food is consistently great. The jalapeno corn chowder is the absolute bomb to start with. As far as entrees, there are so many ways to go. My favorites are the chicken caesar wrap and the B.L.T., but they just added fish and chips to the menu and that was damn good too. Also, best fries in boulder. As my friend from WI will tell you, the Attic is a Wisconsonian bar. I may have made that word up, but whatever. The owners are from Wisconsin. "So," she said, "Tater tots!!!" Not going to lie - the tots are awesome. I usually ask for them to be unsalted. I love coming to the Attic on Tuesdays because... TACO TUESDAYS... and we all know how much I love tacos. I had three (a pork, a chicken, and a steak/ beef + a dozen and a half tots) and I was mighty full. I think that two tacos + three dozen tots may be the perfect combination. But I digress. The tacos were delicious and the shells were fabulous as well, kinda like they took a great tortilla and deep fried it to create this crunchy goodness. The food aside, it's a great little spot for happy hours. (and we all know how much I love happy hours...) I must add a note here and add that The Attic on Friday/ Saturday nights are a little less awesome. It's not The Attic's fault, but the fault of the hordes of college-aged bros and gals taking over the place. TLDR: Tater tots - yum. Taco Tuesdays - yay. Happy hour - yes. We were walking by the Attic down Walnut, when I saw a sign for a great happy hour. It is literally tucked away in the attic of this building, and is a great little bar and bistro. I love when you can find a neat place that way, just walking by. We had a beer and some fabulous cheese curds! Chris, the bartender, was so friendly. What a great place! Lots of flat screen TV's and a great bar area and happy hour everyday! All beers on happy hour were $2.50! The owners are from Wisconsin, so there is tons of Green Bay and U. of Wisconsin stuff on the walls, hence the cheese curds , which we love! Great time, and we will be back. read more

I came here twice during my stay in Colorado. Once in the evening and once in the afternoon. The atmosphere is dramatically different, however both times were very enjoyable. There is an arcade/pool area and plenty of space, during the day that is. The nights were packed, as the people were almost standing shoulder to shoulder talking and having a good time. The bartenders were still able to get the drinks out very quickly and we had a wonderful time here. I tried some of the food during the day and it was very good. We had the ribs, chicken, and jalapeno poppers. I would recommend stopping by and trying Attic Bar & Bistro out! read more

I remember rolling down Pearl Street with my crew of ladies and ending up at the Attic. Obviously the bouncer would recognize us, the crowd would know us, and life was groovy living like a rock star. Sadly, college is over and apparently so is my fame in Boulder. But I am OK with it and can still party like I am still in college. Last night I went back to my college town to visit and yes, party.. it is Boulder.. and that is just how us Boulderites roll. Things have changed and the college kids all appear younger and the bouncers are newer, but the good times, thank god, are still the same. The Attic has strong and delicious drinks, fast service, and negotiable prices (depending on who you know). So . . . here's the thing. We ordered take-out. And most of the unsatisfying part of our experience came as a result of their army of staff (all of whom, it seems, tried to talk to me and refute one another) struggling to understand that. So let's start with the positive - burgers, good. Sweet potato fries on side of burger, also good. Chicken tenders were . . . fine - neither good nor bad. Cheese curds and tots were great. Desserts - ultimately good though upon checking the order I found they had left parts of them out. (glad I checked before I left even though it fristrated the server who handed me the bags!) The negative - upon showing up for my takeout, nearly 30 minutes after placing the order, they first told me it would be "up in about 10 - 15 minutes." Then I was asked, "You're the delivery person, right?" Followed mere seconds later by, "Your takeout order will be ready in just a minute" by a different staff person and then right on the heels of that one, "we can't find your order - who are you? what's your number?" Sorry guys, but this kind of bad communication with four people giving me four different stories means that at LEAST 2 of you were lying, and probably a third was not paying attention to her job. I waited for 5 minutes . . . 10 minutes . . . 15 minutes. When i finally pointed out that if I had waited 45 minutes after ordering in their restaurant that I'd be asking to see a manager I got a long speech about how they don't generally do take out. Uhh, then why are you listed on Hungry Buffs as both a takeout and delivery option? After another 5 minutes the order came out . . . incorrectly. This farce was capped off with one staff member telling me that I should just order delivery instead because they don't do take out (you don't deliver to my house . .. and thanks for making this my fault) and then (I couldn't make this up if I tried!) another staff member coming from the back of the kitchen a moment later and handing me their menu and saying, "next time you want to pick up just call us directly for a take out order!" I second it... This IS a great place to see live music! The venue is clean and well kept. The drinks are well made and the beer selection is adequate. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, but I didn't eat tonight. There are plenty of video games in the back. These are fun for gaming out and waiting for the music to start. After visiting from Alabama (my boyfriend was born and raised here in Boulder), our friends and I ended our St. Pattys day night here. I was the DD and was absolutely sober. All of my friends were tipsy, but probably the calmest out of the whole bar. The African American bouncer came up to the group of us while we were having a calm conversation and took one of my male friends and kicked him out. I asked the bouncer why he got kicked out and he just stared into space, ignoring me. He then acted like he didn't kick anyone out, until I proved that my friend got kicked out. He told me "he was just intoxicated". One thing I know (being sober), is he was the least intoxicated out of all of my friends. I asked for a manager and he told me to get out. I am not very happy with the way we were treated and this has left a very bad impression on Boulder for all of us. We will not be back. read more

Stopped in for a little drink, I wasn't to impressed with the waitress, she was kinda grumpy, but the Cuban sandwich made up for it. Plus we had another waitress replace her, so that helped. My company recently moved offices, and a couple of co-workers kept speaking highly of The Attic, so I finally gave it a try for lunch recently. I get the feeling I may not necessarily want to stop by on a typical evening (but that's just my starting-to-feel-old/hermit nerdiness kicking-in) Many years ago this location was home to a very reasonably priced and fairly delicious Chinese restaurant that I frequented pretty often. Now that it has been converted to The Attic, I had no idea what a great space it was. It's got some really nice windows which face the Flatirons and provide lots of great natural sunshine-- it's a great place to get some sunshine to make up for the LCD tan after being behind a computer all morning. The space itself is like your favorite pair of jeans-- a bit worn out but very cozy and comfortable. The guy who runs the place is really great-- he knows his customers, and is very gregarious and attentive without getting in your business too much. It seems that once he knows you well enough he might give you a little bit of friendly fire which is a-ok in my book. Most of the table ordered the Jalapeo Bacon Cheeseburger, and once I got mine I could see why. The thick, juicy, and generous beef patty was cooked just like I asked for it (most places overcook burgers) and was very delicious. The buns are on some sort of Kaiser Roll, and the best part was that the Jalapeos were fresh rather than being pickled. I had a craving for a good burger and this one really hit the spot! The burgers are around $8, which allows you to actually get out of there for about $12 with tip and a regular drink for lunch which I think is a very fair price. The other thing that left a lasting impression on me were the fries. You can choose from at least a couple of different kinds-- steak fries, and what seems to be a new trend in many restaurants, sweet potato fries. I really love sweet potato fries and chose them, and I was very glad I did. They were cooked perfectly and garnished in just a bit of salt which is all they need in my opinion to shine. I was really impressed by The Attic as a great lunch spot, and would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, you'll probably run into me there because I'm probably going to start becoming a regular. read more

I've never received worse service at a bar in the last 6 years of drinking in boulder. I stood for at least 30 minites politely waiting for a drink. While I watched people around me order drinks all night the bar tender seemed to intentionally ignore me.
