Under a previous owner our second floor attic space suffered a bad rat infestation prior to the cedar shingle roof being replaced with a stone tile roof. As far as we could tell, after moving in, the re-roofing with stone tile had mostly rodent-proofed the attic, but the insulation was completely ruined with rodent droppings and urine, and the flooring and exposed rafters were covered with the same. As we were planning to install a whole house fan, which vents into the attic, we wanted to remove all of the rodent messes so that they would not be blowing around when the fan ran. After reading a lot of reviews here on yelp and elsewhere we decided to ask Attic Projects to evaluate our situation. Attic projects answered the phone as soon as I called and the representative was able to schedule a visit by the estimator, Chase, for the next day. Chase contacted me ahead of his visit, and was on time. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He spent a good half hour or hour in the attic taking photos, and noted all of the areas that we thought needed to be rodent-proofed to prevent future access, and suggested a number of other areas we had not thought about. He spent an additional hour or so discussing the pros and cons of various re-insulation options, and explained in detail exactly what services were to be provided. These included the removal of all attic debris (including soiled insulation, old pieces of lumber and plywood, old unused HVAC conduit from earlier furnace installations by previous owners, and other random junk), vacuuming of the entire attic space of all dust and droppings and small debris, the sanitation/sterilization of the cleaned attic space, rodent proofing potential entry points, and installation of replacement insulation. He then ran quotes to show pricing for the different combinations of insulation options. Later that day he emailed the quote, and also provided the photos taken of the attic interior. After we decided to go with Attic Projects for the work, the process of setting up the contract and paying the initial 10% deposit was very simple and handled by the front office by phone and email. They were up front about explaining that payment by credit card for the non-deposit balance of the job would incur a 3% surcharge, and that personal checks were not subject to this fee. On the day of the scheduled job, Chris, the crew manager, contacted us by text an hour before their scheduled arrival time to confirm they were on the way. The crew (Chris, Eli, Jordan, and Daniel) arrived on time and placed protective coverings on the walls and floors and doors between the attic access and the front door of our home to avoid causing any damage while removing the debris, doing the vacuuming, and bringing in new insulation. They worked hard all morning, first bagging the debris and hauling it out, then vacuuming the entire attic area, completing the rodent-proofing of potential entry sites, and sanitizing the attic area. At this point, while they had lunch, we were invited to inspect the area and note any followup areas for them to address. After their lunch break, they addressed the few areas we thought needed more attention, and then set to completing the job by installing the new insulation. Then they carefully removed the protective materials from the walls etc. and vacuumed the hallways, stairs and entryway to remove any remaining dust, wood shavings, etc. Throughout the entire process the crew was very professional, communicative and polite, and answered every question we had. The finished product was everything we had been told to expect. We are delighted to write this 5 Star Review of our recent experience working with Attic Projects. Professional, knowledgeable and experienced. Joe J,our Project Manager, arrived at our home for our appointment on time. After introducing himself and explaining how Attic Projects multi-step approach to revitalizing attic spaces works, Joe went up into our attic to inspect it. Joe's inspection took a full 45 minutes. After Joe came down from our attic he showed us the many pictures he took during his inspection. These photos documented the state of our home's deteriorating insulation. He took pictures of where the rodents were entering our attic. There were pictures that showed evidence of current rodent activity. Joe also took pictures of our ductwork so that we could see how these had fallen into disrepair over the years. After the inspection Joe sat down with us and helped us develop a detailed plan to improve our attic space with air sealing, rodent proofing, new insulation and new ductwork. He answered each of our questions with in depth explanations. Joe's depth of knowledge and experience in this field helped us to understand how his plan would be a great solution to our attic's challenges. Organized and Transparent. Other companies that we interviewed made the claim that they could remove our old insulation, rodent proof, remove the old ductwork, replace with new ductwork and blow in the new insulation in one day! Our house was very hot in summer and very cold in winter as there was No attic insulation. NONE! Our roof has a very low pitch and hardly any room in the attic due to ducting being in the way and a VERY tight crawl space (which is only accessible through a small opening in our bedroom closet). We did not think there was any way we could insulate the attic so we called several companies to see if they could bore holes around the exterior of our stucco home and blow insulation between the wall studs. We called several companies and one of them sent a very young nicely dressed inexperienced "kid" who was not prepared (had a small 15 foot measuring tape, no ladder and did not know what type of blown insulation to put in. He looked in the attic with a ladder (which I provided) but did not crawl in and said the company would not be able to insulate all the attic as he could not access it. Being frustrated, I looked on Yelp and saw the wonderful reviews that Attic Projects had so I called and spoke with Adam. Explaining the tight attic situation and idea to bore holes instead through the outside stucco, he put me at ease to inspect it first so we made an appointment. He showed up on time with his company vehicle, wore booties to come in the house, had a ladder and put on some coveralls. He climbed up INTO the attic and was surprised that there was no insulation. Instead of trying to convince me to bore holes outside the stucco walls, he said he could save me money by getting his crew in through the attic, disconnect the ducting, blow insulation, re-connect the ducting and I would feel a world of difference. Well, this was Friday and he had an opening on Sunday. Both James and Jessie showed up right on time, placed blankets on the floor and protectors on the door jambs, climbed through the closet into the attic and began working taking apart the ducting. They tacked inch markers in the attic, blew in 12-15 inches of insulation and put the ducting back together. Everything they did was top notch. Such a professional company. After they were done, they even cleaned up the bits of insulation on the outside yard. NO mess, no fuss, no worries for us : ) Wow! We felt such a difference in the temperature change in our home. Our company manages over 50 properties around San Diego, and so we deal with numerous vendors with various specialties. We were looking for a company that specialized in crawlspace areas due to an issue we were having. The crawlspace under one of our homes was very wet and moist. So we called "Attic Projects" (Attic and Crawlspace experts) as well as several other vendor's and set up an appointment inspection. We ended up going with ATTIC PROJECTS for the following reasons. I met with Kevin Enz (he was our project manager). Kevin's level of professionalism was VERY IMPRESSIVE . He was not only very knowledgeable in his area of expertise but also very personable, and his communication skills throughout the entire process were amazing. Kevin showed up on time, and even though it was pouring down raining, he did a VERY thorough inspection. He then took the time to go over his proposal/pictures and recommendations. Most importantly, he listened to what we were trying to accomplish so that his services matched our end goal for this project. I have never been one to go on and write a review about places. I've always been one to let a business work speak for it self, a d this is exactly how I felt going into business with this company. I had a terrible rat infestation, and have had one for years. Rats had torn apart all the insulation in my attic, so finally we had to have something done about the problem. After doing my research my wife and I decided to go with this place, mainly because we wanted to kill 2 birds with one stone. When the crew of 4 finished removeing all of our old insulation, replacing it with new blown in insulation AND "rodent proofed" our home, I have to say I was nervous because they are not a pest control company. Well 2 days later I started to hear rats running back and forth AGAIN, and I was very concerned that all of that work and money would have been for nothing so I called Attic Projects. They put me in contact with their Operation Manager Shawn, who assured me that he had been in pest control the last 10 years and that he was going to stop at nothing to take care of any issues we had. This man came out to our home and checked EVERYTHING. He spent 3 hours going over every nook and cranny of our home from top to bottom. He sat and explained every detail of the job, how it was done, how rats act and what their habbits are. I had no idea there was this much to know about rats. He gave us his personal phone number, and email and told us that if anything were to happen, no matter what time, to call him and he would take care of us. All of the traps he put in our home caught rats THE NEXT DAY, and all of the tips he gave us helped. We called in one time to have them collect the traps and set new ones. They came out, with no hesitation. Finally, what really pushed me to write this review, is that my wife had some concerns about what bait was used, and if it would be dangerous to our 2 dogs. So on Sunday afternoon she called the Operation Manager Shawn on his personal cell phone, because we thought the company would be close. He sounded sick as a dog, but kept reassureing us that he was happy to address anything we were worried about. He answered all of our questions and put our minds at ease. I can say honestly that this place has gone above and beyond all of our expectations and I would recommend him, and this company to anyone. We are beyond pleased. This is a 2 part review, for insulation generally, and specifically for Attic Projects. When we bought our home a year ago, we didn't pay any attention to what the insulation was like but noticed our upstairs never really cooled down much. When this summer came, the AC would run constantly but never get down below 78 degrees. We had the AC inspected, and everything was running fine, so after some more research, we thought maybe it was poor insulation. We looked at the inspection report from when we bought, and it had recommended we replace the insulation as it was inadequate. We reached out to a few different companies and got quotes. Merrill with Attic Projects came out, did an inspection, took pictures, and then sat down with me to go over his findings and what the entire process would be like. There was another company that came out for the inspection and just gave me a price after looking in the attic. It was nice to have the detail that Merrill went into as to what the entire process was like. We received a very competitive quote and decided to go with Attic Projects for the work. On the scheduled day, Jordan and his team came on time and again went over the process and inspected the ceiling prior to make sure they would know if they caused any damage. They did their thing as had been discussed, gave me updates along the way, and made sure everything was cleaned up prior to leaving. Jordan took me up to the attic after it was cleaned out and again after the insulation was put in to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. That night, the AC had the upstairs cooled and kept it cool. It's been about a month now, and the insulation has helped keep the house cool, and we've been running the AC a lot less. If you're having temperature issues, we definitely recommend having your insulation checked out, and if you do decide to get it replaced, we strongly recommend Attic Projects, Merrill, Jordan, and the rest of the team. Day 1: What a great crew Attic Projects sent me to clean out our attic and subfloor crawl space: Victor, Javier and Niko were fantastic! I'm so very pleased with having selected Attic Projects to help us get rid of an annoying rat problem!! Day 2: Victor, Javier and Niko just finished our 2-day job with Attic Projects. We had an excellent experience with Attic Projects. From our initial inspection with Matt, we knew that Attic Projects was thorough, honest, and thoughtful about their work. Matt listened to my (many) concerns and even continued to communicate with me over the weekend about the quote details (what is / isn't included). He listened to the urgency in which I wanted the issue resolved (previous rodent activity in attic), and worked with me to find a mutually agreeable date for the service. I had a few other quotes for this work, and I am confident that attic projects was the right choice. I was blown away by the efficiency, professionalism, and kindness of the team that came out today to do the attic clean up and sanitization. Forman Tristan arrived first and we walked through the key areas of concern as well as the process that would take place. Meanwhile, crew members Sergio, Marco, Joey and Brandon started setting up in the attic to get cleaning and removing old insulation. They were beyond respectful of our home and ensured that debris did not spread to any areas of the home during the work day. Joey and Tristan went out of their way to seal up rodent entry points in our outdoor kitchen area, and were creative with their solution! They listened to my concerns about sanitizing various areas around the property, and took care to show me where and how the work was done so that I was confident in the result. This review is specifically for AJ and Thomas, who did the cleaning, sanitation and install in our home. They were friendly, efficient, clean and very quick. The communication on Aj's end was great, he was thorough and specific with his details and timeframe. Thankful they were our technicians. *please note that i would have given this review a 1 Star if it had just been for Phillip, the inspector/sales tech. We were supposed to have the project completed in two parts, Wednesday and Friday with our electrician coming Thursday. I scheduled this two weeks in advance and we were given this option by Philip and assured it would be done, plus we paid $250 extra to divide up the work. Friday was never booked for insulation install and we had to sit through a long (Monday holiday) weekend, with very hot temps for 4 extra days. Our 3 year old and 4 month old couldn't nap in rooms that were hovering between 95-103 during the day. Which is precisely why we wanted the job done in 2 days. I understand mistake happen but the lack of communication on Phillip's part was disappointing to say the least. He had been texting my husband just before 2pm on Friday and then not a word until 8:58pm Monday night claiming he was out of town. The company did throw in a sealing service for the scheduling mistake. We appreciate the extra service, but maybe a little more communication after a big mess up should be required in the future. This situation would definitely make me rethink recommending the company as a whole. Again - i know this was not the fault of the guys doing the work. They were spectacular! I hired Attic Projects to clean, rat-proof, and insulate our 1922 bungalow. We had quotes done from the three attic companies that are highest rated here on Yelp. All conducted similar professional inspections, noticed the same general issues in our attic, and proposed the same general steps. But Attic Projects was the most competitively priced, and scheduled to do our project within a week. We were flexible on scheduling and they offered a nice discount. We worked with Adam Goldman on the quote and scheduling, and Johan and Peter showed up to do the actual work. They arrived.promptly, and were very courteous. I'm uploading pictures of the care the took to wrap everything and tape down floor cloths. They had trouple with their gas-powered vacuum system, sonit took longer than usual to do the clean up part. They spent the entire day on the job, from 9 until almost 5pm, and did a great job up there. I'm uploading some of the pictures they took of the cleaned up attic. Overall the job was very well done at a super competitive price. It may have simply been because they had an unusually long and hot day up there, but the final clean up could have been a little better. When they left, there was significant debris in my driveway, including some roofing nails that could pop a tire (see pic attached). Also, I did not realize that they were going to dispose of some of the debris in my trash (see photo). It wasn't too much (and it's trash night anyway), but that would have been nice to know. Despite these minor things, I would definitely highly recommend Attic Projects. They did a good job for a reasonable price, which is all I ask for in a company. read more

So this review is for the first phase of our project that was completed by Jose, Augustin and Anthony. These guys were AMAZING!!! Our experience with these gentlemen began with a phone call from Jose that let us know that they were on their way. I had a busy day planned so I appreciated the ETA that was given. When the crew arrived- they greeted me with a smile, a friendly introduction and were just really nice guys. Before they got down and dirty, they very thoroughly taped up plastic everywhere in hopes of eliminating any dust or dirt that could get on our floors or other areas. Jose let me know of everything that they were going to do and asked me if I had any questions. The gentlemen worked diligently for many, many hours. They stopped only for what seemed like a very quick lunch break. When they were done for the day (we knew in advance that it would be a two day job), they cleaned up everything!! Our home may be cleaner after they left :) Before they left; they chatted with my husband and me to let us know of next steps. I know there's a chance that a other crew may be coming tomorrow- but I really, really hope that it's the same crew. I really liked these three guys and feel comfortable having them in my home. I could not be happier with Attic Projects in San Diego! After several decades of periodic rampant rat activity, our large attic had become a toxic and disgusting bio-hazard! The ancient insulation was thoroughly soiled and the sheer amount of droppings was disturbing, to say the least. The rats had also destroyed much of the ducting insulation and had ripped some of the plastic ducts themselves. After shopping around for a good attic/insulation contractor I called Attic Projects to come out to take a look. Phillip arrived right on time and completed a thorough inspection (with pictures) and promptly provided a thorough proposal which was VERY reasonable, especially considering the large scope of the project. He pointed out several rodent entry points and assured me the crew would seal everything up to keep them out for good! Jose and his crew did a phenomenal job! After showing up right on time, Jose kept me apprised through each step of the project. They spent time to properly cocoon all of their work entry/exit areas so that the toxic stuff would not contaminate the home outside of their work areas. Attic work is grueling! with cramp conditions, poor air quality, heat! But Jose and crew got it done with a great attitude, and right on time. We recently returned to Attic Project for a second follow up project to add insulation to the attic. Our first project (rodent proofing, air gap sealing, and clean out of crawlspace and attic) went very well overall. Although we were not totally happy with the first clean out attempt of the attic, Kevin project manager for Attic Projects scheduled a second crew to come back quickly to rectify the situation by cleaning out the attic again, which was done to our satisfaction by Tristan the foreman and crew member Sergio. So, because of this superior customer service we returned to Attic Projects for follow up project - to blow in insulation. This project was handled easily by Kevin project manager, Tristan foreman, and Jessie crew member. They were all very professional, prompt, easy to work with. Tristan called ahead of time to announce their arrival time on day of work, and Kevin followed up promptly after project to ask about satisfaction. Tristan and Jessie prepared the interior of the house very well with the cloth walk way, protection covering of all walls and doorways, and installing the plastic barrier to container the dust and dirt. Tristan was really nice to work with again (he did our follow up clean out of attic); in fact he gave me some tips to improve our new HVAC ductwork sealing in the attic to improve it, which I really appreciate! My project was for the removal of attic insulation. The very best part of my experience with this company is their attic service technicians. technicians Aaron and Tiger ; they are true professionals of their trade. My home is not your typical home. I have multiple attics, the crawl space is sloped, and the previous owners never put any effort into the home. Needless to say: my home is difficult. First off, I want to give huge props to Paul. When he came to inspect my home he was kind and respectful. He CRAWLED through dirt, grime, falling insulation, and mold in order to diagnose the issues ailing my home. He even pointed out electrical and plumbing issues that needed to be fixed. He marched his way through our attics and by the time he was done I knew that this is the company I wanted to contract. Attic Projects did an amazing job cleaning out my attics and crawls space. They sanitized and cleared a mold issue. They took out all the terrible insulation. The installation of the Vapor Barrier was difficult but they got it done. I had many concerns but when I brought them to Paul he did everything in his power to address each issue personally. Tiger and his team did an excellent job. Victor was assigned to address my concerns and he was absolutely wonderful. I will recommend Attic Projects to anyone who needs a professional to come attack the most difficult projects in their home. I would give them 10 stars if possible. I only am adding one photo here of the crawl space but trust me when I say that I would not enter my crawl space before Attic Projects completed their work. After extensive research (my typical mode), I decided to contact Attic Projects online. I was contacted the next business day by a very polite and professional woman who set me up for a free estimate with Philip. I was told he would contact me 20 minutes prior to his arrival, which he did. After some discussion on my goals and options, Philip inspected the house. Within a short time he presented my wife and I the proposal with options. Philip did a great job answering all of our questions. There was no pressure. We agreed on terms and a start date. There had been a couple calls from the office and Philip for time and date confirmation prior to start date. All very professional. Chris called me the date of the project to let me know they we on the way from their yard. Chris and crew arrive as scheduled. Chris went over the scope of the project in detail, answered all the questions and got started. They cleaned out the old insulation and debris, took pictures and installed the new. The clean up was quick and complete . The whole crew was professional and courteous. Chris did a great job at going over all that had been done. Showed me pictures. He assured me it was completely as planned, but if I was dissatisfied in anyway they would address any concerns immediately. Philip followed up the next business day. The dynamic team of Attic Projects. Kevin, Jovani, Gabe, Jose x2, and Cat. Our 350+ square feet of attic space were home to some unwelcomed guests. They made themselves at home, set up the applicable door dash account, and began to feast on whatever was available. After they enjoyed the attic buffet, they were kind enough to leave us presents. We were quickly reminded that the unwelcome VRBO guests had easy access to the attic area through various openings. We called in the big guns, Kevin, and he quickly and willingly donned the hazmat suit and bravely walked into the attic. I distinctly heard a high-pitched squeal as he came across a four-legged guest. I immediately asked if he was ok, and he responded confidently, "Attic projects are on it!" After inspecting the attic, Kevin had a frank discussion about what he and his team would handle. I had one request for Kevin - that he provide doughnuts on the first day of work. Without hesitation, Kevin fulfilled my request. Now back to what was completed, the old insulation and air ducts were removed, they enticed our house guests with shiny traps, sealed the numerous openings throughout the attic, and finally, air-sealed the attic. I have to say I am really impressed with Attic Projects. Tony came out to give us an estimate for mice issues and also for potential attic enhancements. Our attic is large but also extremely awkward to crawl/move about in and has really poor ventilation. Yet, he spent the time to cover the whole attic. I was extremely impressed with the quality and thoroughness of his work and his overall professionalism. He described all his findings regarding the mice and other findings such as some mold issues, gaps that ought to be sealed, and ventilation recommendations for mold prevention. And he was honest about the feasablity of creating a storage space which is something we were considering. He explained why just patching a couple of known mice entry points would be a short-term solution. He answered all of my questions. And now, I get why Attic Projects confidently gives you a 10 year warranty whereas other companies want you to buy a subscription service for rodent control. I also got a sense of the care they put into their work and in protecting your health. I was surprised to find that they will create a barrier to transport old contaminated insulation safely out of the house. It is evident to me now that Attic Projects isn't a quick-fix type of company. It's a do-it-right-the-first-time as well as an end-to-end solution type of company. If the estimate was within our budget, we would have definitely used them. read more
