I am really impressed by the professionlism of this company. Right from the initial estimation stage, my first impression was favorable. Atticare was the fifth company that gave me a quote. Their estimate included removing the old 32 year old batt insulation, vacuuming ash from the attic (courtesy of the La Tuna Fire), rodent proofing, and replacing the old 3 inch batt with 12 inch batts. I liked that the estimator gave me the correct square footage of the attic, as some companies had added an extra 150 to 200 on the footage. Also, the estimator did not mention that all air con ducts needed replacing either, which other companies had tried to push. Some companies, gave me quote to just put the new batt on top of the old batt, and did not mention the ash that was in the attic. The initial service date was right at the start of Covid (early March), so I put the company off. After 8 weeks and the summer temperatures rising, I realized that the job needed to go ahead. The team arrived, dressed in the appropriate gear, (suits, gloves and masks). They completely sealed off the walls of the corridors and put down protective hardboard over my wood floors. All in all, I was extremely happy with the process and with the professionalism of Vince who dealt with my booking and changes, and Robert, the on site foreman. We recently moved into a new home, which has a crawlspace underneath the house, along with an attic above the ceiling. We had been told by our home inspector that there were some type of "droppings" in the attic and that we should get it checked out when we moved in. Well, we were a little concerned about these droppings and their potential "droppers" so we called around and found Attic Care. They scheduled an appointment to do an initial visit. Alex came on time and went up the attic and into the crawlspace. He found things in the crawlspace that I can't even mention here because they are so nasty. I can't believe the previous owners lived like that! Eww! When we saw the photos, we decided to go all out and get the full service clean and rodent proofing for the entire house, primarily the crawlspace. They set up an appointment for the next business day and sent three people, led by Miguel. It was a very hot day, more than 100 degrees out, and even hotter in the crawlspace, yet they completed the job, which took the whole day. A couple weeks ago, I had started smelling a bad odor in my garage. Turns out a opossum had died in my attic (more than a month ago) and other critters were up there slowly working on it. Let me tell you, not pleasant to the nose. After having the opossum removed, I started poking around and found evidence of rodents. While doing some research, I came across Atticare and their rodent proofing. I highly recommend watching the videos on their site. Once I saw the videos, I said "Yes, I want that." Atticare was amazing. Everyone from Chris in scheduling, to Taylor inspecting, to Miguel and his crew that did the removal/installation. Professional and thorough at every step of the process! Taylor arrived the same week that I contacted them, and walked me through the whole process after doing a thorough inspection of the attic and crawlspace. He was detailed in the options and pricing, and went further to highlight the different rebates that were available to me that could bring the prices down a little further. These are the guys you want. After I decided to go with them, they had a cancellation happen the next day, so they were there 24 hours after the inspection! They removed all the old (and older) insulation. Apparently when I had insulation installed 4 years ago, that company only blew the new insulation right on top of the old insulation. They vacuumed out all of that mess (I will try and upload the photos of how much that was) and removed other junk that was found (boards, non-connected electrical materials, etc.). They truly pulled out everything, and hauled it all away. While they were installing the new R38, Taylor stopped by and he and Miguel walked me through the photos of the job so far, what they had found, and what to look for in the year ahead while under warranty. I can't recommend Chris, Taylor, Miguel, and the whole Atticare crew enough. I only wish they did more services. This company did a great job at insulating my attic, but unfortunately their crew also cracked almost every ceiling in my entire house. Almost every can light has crack around it and they damaged multiple walls as well. They were throwing insulation bundles in the attic and stomping on the drywall rather than the joists. They spilled gasoline on my driveway pavers and left stains along with leaving handfuls of nails and screws on my driveway. During the attic work, my carbon monoxide alarms went off because they were directing the exhaust from the generators into the house. Their main guy told me to disconnect the Nest alarms and close the windows. Yes, they really didn't know that was dangerous. After all the damage they did, they tried to convince me to allow their handyman to come repair it. They called me to schedule him and wanted me to work around their schedule rather than when it was convenient for them. Their handyman showed up, took one look at the damage and then said it would take a week to fix. He didn't have the time and asked me for the paint. He only wanted to "touch up" the ceiling, but since the cracks go from one side of the ceiling to the other, the whole ceiling needs to be painted. Their supervisor came out to inspect the work and the damage and admitted his crew had no excuse for causing the damage they did. Update: So the company has credited me half the cost of the insulation so that a painter I contacted could patch the cracks in the ceilings and repaint them completely. As part of the settlement with Atticare, they tried to force me to remove the review under the threat of legal action. I almost took this review down, but decided to do my research first. Apparently my right to post this review is protected by AB2365, which was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in 2014. It's called the Yelp Bill. It also makes any agreement companies put in their contracts to force you to remove your reviews, under the threat of legal action, null and void. I'll give them the credit for making it right by taking care of the repairs, but I won't be bullied into taking the review down. It's the truth and people deserve to know what happened rather than think every company like this is perfect. read more

This is the most wonderful team. Ralph came out for an estimate and inspected my attic and did NOT try to oversell me. He told me there were no signs of rats, no problems with the insulation in the main house. As I expected, all I needed was insulation for my converted garage. He referred me to Miguel who came out with Jerry. SUCH nice guys! I don't know how they got in through the vent to do the job-- must be contortionists-- but they made it in and sealed the gaps, then got out and blew in a thick layer of insulation where there had been none. The whole job took about 2 hours and everything was sealed back up and looks like new. I can now look forward to MUCH cooler summers and warmer winters in my office. I called about a rat problem and the sales person for the company up sold me on new insulation in our attic. They were quick to come out to do the work but when I reminded them of the rat issue, all they did was walk around the house and look and clean up the rat droppings under our house. A year and a half later, after paying off the over 10k loan on the cost of the project, I had a huge rat infestation and their warranty was only one year. We called Atticare to come over and give us an estimate for replacing the insulation in the attic and to seal all possible openings to prevent entrance of any type of animals. Some pigeons were getting in. When I call the office secretary was polite to us and asked several questions prior to send someone over. The day after, they sent Dave to our house and he went up to the attic and checked it for any problems. His inspection showed that all we need to do is to replace the insulation and to close 2 holes. No more pigeons coming in hurray! And no more poop or noise at night. The estimate that he gave us was good and the work took 1 day to finish. I couldn't ask for a better company! We hired Atticare based on their great Yelp reviews and the competitive price they gave us to remove old insulation, clean the attic, install new r32 batt insulation and new r6 insulated air ducts. They completed the entire 1300 sq. foot attic and 9 air ducts in about 6 hours. The crew taped and sealed the work area off to prevent any dust and debris from entering the rest of the house. The work was done quick and efficient and the new insulation and air ducts have made our house much more comfortable. When they left we noticed one room was not getting any air flow with the AC running so Atticare sent a technician to check it out. I was pretty freaked to learn there were rats AND exposed asbestos in my attic, but AttiCare came to the rescue and working with them was a wonderful experience. Dave was extremely thorough in his initial inspection, and explained in great detail the issues in my attic and basement crawl space, and what needed to be done to rectify the situation. My landlords insisted on a second opinion. Their guy came in at a bid of more money and three days to complete the job. Once the decision was made to go with AttiCare, Dave was able to schedule the work very quickly. The asbestos team came the first day. They meticulously sealed off all vents and the work area, and were done in a couple of hours. They took great care to seal off the work area with plastic, and Edward advised me of what they were doing every step of the way. They removed construction debris from the attic and under the house, vacuumed out old insulation and rat droppings, cleaned and sanitized the area, sprayed repellent, eliminated all rodent entry points, and installed new insulation. I paid Atticare over $4,000.00 to clean the attic with a one year rodent proofing warranty. The DAY they completed the job, the tenant said he could hear rats in the wall. I went up to the attic and saw that they "forgot" to vacuum the ventilation screens and that were thick with loose insulation. They came back reluctantly to vacuum the screens and several times after that because the rat problem continued. However, the problem is getting worse. Now the secretary at Atticare says that they are NOT in the business of killing rats and there is nothing they can do. I can not recommend this company at all!!
