Wow. So major, major props to Jason from Atticare for some stellar service. I had called Atticare in a panic because I had accidentally trapped a rat in between my screen door and main door. I called them because I saw their ratings on Yelp AND they were the only one open on a Sunday, both of which I was relieved. I was so embarrassed when Jason came over (very fast, too!) and said "even though we really don't handle situations like this, I'll go ahead and take care of it for you because I can see how panicked you are about it" (it's obvious by now I'm no Rambo when it comes to rat-related situations). After he took care of it, he took a look at the rest of my apartment (inside and outside) to make sure there weren't any possible openings for other rats. Be careful when you have Dave S. come in to give you an estimate. He would snap at you when you can't agree to project at the time HE CAN (Not you, the customer). He was as professional as you can ask for until I told him "I need to wait for money to come in next month to do the project (quoted around $6400)." First, this is not a $640 project and there is a thing called "planning" which you do research early. Second, I do not call technician to look at my attic for fun. Dave changed his attitude as if he was fooled. Third, as a field technician you represent your company and you need to understand every customer has his/her own priority. Jose and his crew came and finished the whole job in one day. They were very meticulous with their work and made sure all holes were patched up (rodent proofing). They also covered and taped up the hallway they were going through to prevent any dust and debris from flowing into the other areas of the house. They disposed of all trash accordingly and even came back to clean up some debris left on the lawn that were missed (this was understandable as it can be hard to see dust on your grass). As a company, they deliver the best service and the price is fair and equitable. I am a first home owner and a female...there were no increased costs or additional add ons for my insulation. Eric was very professional, informative, polite, and kind in his demeanor. Eric also made sure I was completely comfortable with the price and knew about the rebate program with DWP. We had Atticare come to our house a week ago to clean our attic and replace the insulation. Eric and his team were extremely professional and did a great job. While they were working in our attic, some of our recessed lighting LEDs were unintentionally affected, but they took responsibility for what happened and are sending someone to fix the lights/paint that were pushed out/affected. The overall impression with attic care so far has been less than Impressive. Their project manager who they sent out for the estimate Vince was a big reason for our low rating. First he showed up earlier to our daughters house than promised by Denise their customer service supervisor. And he never called us ahead of time to tell us he is on his way. When we asked if he called , he said he tried and blamed it on poor service. During the estimate discussion I had to remind him Various times to keep his mask on due to covid19 since he was near our family. After agreeing to the contract Vince made a mistake an assigned the installers before the asbestos abatement appointment. He covered this oversight and even forgot to mention the mistake To Denise within his office and she was shocked as well. We all agree that Vince is not trustworthy. Lastly Denise (who was very sweet) told us that Oz will be calling us to clarify the situation. We never received such a call, which sends us the signal that customer service is not valued at articcare. The workers on site were wonderful. We came across AttiCare in the homeguide that we received in the mail and they were offering an attic clean-up special. This caught our eye as we had just had our HVAC system serviced and the technician noticed rat droppings and some entry points that needed to be sealed. We called and scheduled a Sunday appointment between 8am-10am which was huge for us given we work full time during the week. Alex from AttiCare arrived promptly at 8:30am and was extremely cordial and personable. Prior to entering the attic space he asked me for some specifics on exactly my concerns and what he might see up there to compare vs. the notes he had. I thought this was a very thoughtful and thorough approach. After I walked through my checklist, he conducted an inspection and came down with photos to show me exactly what was going on and what he recommended. It was clear he went through the entire attic as he showed me pictures of where the droppings were, both on and off the insulation, explained to me that the insulation was in good shape and that there did not appear to be any rodent activity. Given this, he recommended a cleanup with the shop vac and sealing one small entry point with foam which he did. After completing the work, Alex showed me pictures and he had even moved some of the insulation around to ensure more even coverage which was unexpected and super considerate. If you are looking for an honest, professional and thorough attic specialist, look no further than Alex and AttiCare. I called them after getting an ad in the mail and reading thier reviews online. I must say that Raz was true to his word. Everything he said they were going to do, they did. Also his staff that came and worked on our home was so professional and fast. They cleaned up all thier prepping and was so patient with me, because I had to reschedule twice due to work and family. I think the best part of all is that Raz never tried to upsell me, or come back and say "weellll... I know you want this, but we need to do this and that, costing hundreds more." I had four other companies that came to our home an give me offers, who did that while trying to give me a quote and I just walked those other companies to the door. Or the other companies try to tell me I needed a higher grade of installation that was required. Raz didn't do that. He told what we needed to stay in code and told me we didn't have to change other parts of our air ducts, which I knew we didn't. Because he was honest and upfront about the job we needed done. I hired Atticare on the spot. The best part for me was when Raz came the day the job was getting done to ensure crew was on point with our order. We recently pulled out all the fiberglass insulation in our attic, in preparation for spray foam insulation. However, there was still a lot of rat droppings in the attic that needed removal. My wife saw the $95 (and another for $79) mailings for attic cleanup. This seemed perfect, as we had already removed all the insulation and only needed cleanup. We had arranged for the cleanup, but only a single person showed up, without even bringing a vacuum. My wife presented him with the coupon, and he immediately looked back at her like there was no way they would honor it. He went into the attic for about 5 minutes and came back stating what a big job it was. My wife explained that we already removed all the insulation. All they had to do was vacuum. He said they would not honor the offer, stating he needed to bring in a big crew (to vacuum). My wife asked how much it would be and he wouldn't even give her a price, only that it was a big job. It took me and a friend two days to pull out all the insulation, and vacuuming is not nearly as big of a job. My wife told him to leave, at which point he said he felt so insulted. He should feel embarrassed, considering their false advertisement. If my house, insulation already removed, was a "big" job; what size job would qualify for their advertised special? This is a classic bait and switch example. I'm glad my wife showed him the door. I will never use their service or recommend their company. Be careful or their advertisements. They have no intention on honoring their advertised specials. As an update...I in response to your comment, your $95 ad clearly stated, "WE REMOVE & VACUUM ALL ANIMAL & RODENT WASTE". Not sure what my attic would have to look like to qualify for your special, but I'm guessing it would have to be pristine. And about bringing in a whole crew for 2-4 days. That's ridiculous. This company has been a huge disappointment for me. I paid $2501. For what I thought was rodent control and cleanup. After about 9 months the rodents in the basement have been able to get in the house. It's terrifying and hard to get appointments for the next day. The warranty is for a year. The rodents are just sealed in and can't escape. They run through the spaces between the walls from attic to basement. At least one is in the living quarters of the house making messes and frightening me. They have a policy not to set traps in the living quarters because of the blood from the captured animal.This company is extremely expensive for what you get. They won't even clean the droppings in my attic without charging me a lot more money. The only place they want to clean is the basement. Two thousand five hundred and one dollars for what? I think the representative who signed me up took advantage of me because I was recently widowed and thought I was getting both my attic and basement cleaned and rodents exterminated for that price. When I called him after they only did the basement he said oh I'll have to give you another different estimate for the attic. By then it was too late to find a different company. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone at this point. I saw the rodent in my kitchen and he's huge. When I called the company I was told the LA branch was off for the weekend and someone would call me on Monday to set up an appointment for sometime next week. I will see where all this leads but right now it looks dismal. I bought an electric trap at Home Depot but the rat is not interested in the bait in it. read more

During our new home inspection our inspector discovered serious issues in the attic. Rodents pretty much had a field day up there, they even chewed through the AC duct work. Dan came out and presented me with a very reasonable estimate, especially considering the extent of the damage. Edward showed up with his team at the scheduled time and went right to work. The sales rep came to my house & went into the attic to measure and give me a quote. His quote was high ($5,800 for the attic & $2,600 dollars for the A/C duct replacement) . After a few weeks of back&forth I got him to come down to $5,600 total for the whole job (Still, the highest cost of the 4 bids I received) I ultimately went with Atticare because I believed they would do the best job since they specialize in attic work. That ended up being a mistake on my part. A crew of 5 people showed up at 9AM & were gone by 3PM. They got in and cleaned the attic up very quickly. Then they went back up and managed to seal holes & install the new insulation in only 30 minutes. They very poorly stuffed the insulation everywhere, leaving big gaps in the attic and crushing the insulation by installing it without cutting it to proper size & also stuffing it underneath obstructions. When I questioned the lead man he stated "It's still R-38 insulation even if it is compressed to 4 inches" (Which is totally not true - insulation needs to be fully depressed to achieve target R-Value). Not cool to misinform your customers on the assumption that they are naive. Upon final inspection I noticed there was a section of the attic where the old insulation remained. I have a 24" knee wall in the attic and was shocked to learn they did not remove/replace the insulation and clean this area. When I asked the lead man he told me he was instructed not to do the knee wall & that it would be an extra cost for me if I wanted it done. This knee wall is only approximately 50 SF (4% of the total attic space). So basically, they only cleaned 96% of my attic and left the old contaminated insulation in the knee wall - all to save the cost of 50 SF of insulation? I'm sure most of atticare customers are happy with their service, since they most likely do not go up & inspect the attic upon completion. This review is for anyone who is expecting superior quality. Do not assume this company will provide superior quality installation just because they specialize in attic work or because their cost is higher. Overall very poor workmanship. In-out & on to the next one. For $5,500 I was expecting good quality and for the job to take 10-12 hours (which is what it would have taken to do the job properly). Unacceptable to skimp on service and provide poor quality to customers paying top dollar. Response to OZ from atticare: i would counter that your quote was not detailed enough. if the knee wall was not included; you should have informed your customer. your technician told me i was getting a full overhaul of the attic. Why would anyone agree to a 96% overhaul and leave a portion of attic with old contaminated insulation? i appreciate & respect your willingness to have your team come by and make things right, but I've already spent numerous hours in the attic decompressing & readjusting the insulation to acheive the quoted R-value. I also decided to leave the old insulation in the knee wall as I don't want to disturb the old insulation and risk contaminating the new insulation. At this piont I've decided to reject your offer to come back. Please look at my review as an opportunity to improve your operation and provide a better quality product to your customers. We lived in our house for 22 years and never had the insulation replaced. During the Memorial Day weekend, I yelped a few insulation businesses which included Atticare. I received a call from Atticare on Saturday and scheduled an appointment for the following to Tuesday. On Tuesday, Dave called to confirm his arrival and he showed up, right on time. Dave was fully dressed in working gear. He went into the attic and was done within 15 minutes. I understand why, it gets very hot up there! Dave showed me pictures of the bad insulation and said his crew can take care of it. I really liked Dave. He was honest, kind, informative and not pushy or "salesy" at all. Even though it was our first quote on this project, I already knew I was going to go with Atticare. Dave also showed me a product called QuietCool which is a whole house fan. Dave showed me a video of what it does and while it was interesting, I wanted more information and do some research on it. The day of the insulation repair, Edgardo and his team showed up on time and of course, confirmed their arrival by phone call beforehand. Edgardo and his team were quite efficient, worked fast, and were very conscience of the noise levels since they knew I was working from home. Edgardo showed me the before pics, then pics of cleaned and cleared bad insulation. It was so awesome to see the excellent work they did up to that point. While Edgardo and his team were working, I contacted Dave to ask about the QuietCool. After a couple of texts, I decided to go with it as he confirmed that even though it was a last minute decision it could installed the same day. When the project was complete, Edgardo showed me more pics of the beautifully insulated, clean, attic with the air gaps all sealed. I was so excited and impressed. Then he explained how to use the QuietCool. Let me tell you, it was the best home investment or upgrade I have done. We love it! It draws in the cool air from the outside while expelling the hot stagnant air from the inside out. Our house is amazingly cool, insulated, and super energy efficient! So sad. I really wanted them to work. They are great with replacing old insulation but have no idea how to eliminate a rat problem. One of their traps had the fur and blood of a rat on it and they couldn't find it. We decided to start dealing with the problems ourselves and the carcass was literally two feet from our ceiling entry into the attic under where the rat's blood and body fluid were on our new insulation. Also their work attempting to close off rat entry ways was extremely sloppy and not in any way aesthetically pleasing - scary at best. Due to the high reviews on the internet, I decided to contact Atticare for my house's insulation before the summer heat hits. Dave shows up on our appointment day on time. After he checked out the problems of my attic, he provided me all the options that I can choose from and show me video, pictures of the process, and explain all of the details. Himself and his team came on time and started the job right away. They had cover my house with plastics (from front door to hallway) to avoid any dust and contamination. After they had clean up the attic, out of unexpected, they found a rusted water pipe leak, and notified me right away. Due to this situation, they had to stop their job and rescheduling another day until the leak is fixed. This is totally out of our expectation that something like this would happen. Although I understand the team would need to re-work all the plastics again after rescheduling; there is an extra $400 additional fee for rescheduling. The reschedule was only for the final step to "Blown-In" insulation. The insulation itself already costed few thousands and shockingly the fee was close to 15% of the total costs. Again, they are professional; both the sales person and works are awesome. I highly recommend AtticCare, the 2 star is mainly for the rescheduling fee. read more
