I hired this company for an attic clean-up and insulation package. The contract specifically stated that the work would include air sealing "in compliance with California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards." During the project, two ceiling fire sprinkler heads were pushed through the ceiling, leaving visible ceiling damage and chunks of drywall on the floor and my bed. What was most disappointing was how the company handled the situation afterward. I raised the damage along with concerns about whether the work performed actually met the compliance commitment in their contract. Rather than taking responsibility and working with me toward a reasonable resolution, they refused to offer any accommodation for the damage or meaningfully address my other concerns. Their position shifted over the course of our conversations, but the outcome remained the same: they were unwilling to budge on any of my concerns or make any meaningful effort to resolve them. Problems can happen during construction. What matters is how a contractor responds when they do. In this case, their work resulted in damage to my home, and when I brought it to their attention, they were unwilling to work with me toward a resolution. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working with this company. If you do choose to hire them, I would strongly recommend getting explicit written clarification about exactly what they consider included and excluded under any "Title 24 compliant" language in the contract, particularly if your home has fire sprinklers. read more

Scheduled an inspection and no one ever showed up, I did not receive call no heads up, we waited for over 2 hours

I had been hearing activity above my bedroom at night for several months but we could not catch anything in any of the traps we set out. The year before I had called a regular exterminator and they were useless. Finally I saw the ad for Attic Elite on my computer and called right away for my free inspection. Thet scheduled Ben to come out the next day and he confirmed that the rats had not only made the attic their home but had chewed through 3 of our new HVAC system's ducts. We needed the whole the place cleaned out sanitized sealed up, ducting replaced and insulation replaced. The problem had proliferated through every crawl space. They scheduled the service 2 days from the inspection and the crew finished the whole job in 1 day. 4 guys worked from 9am to 6:30pm and cleaned up afterwards too. We hired Attic Elite to complete a job that included asbestos remediation, attic clean up, attic insulation, ducting system, and wall insulation. Some work was great but some work was left incomplete, and customer service is full of excuses and lacking communication. The company hired a 3rd party vendor to complete the asbestos work and they were able to complete the job in less than a day. They sealed up the hallway and kept a clean working area. The vendor was kind and understanding of my request to keep the bathroom access open while I stayed in the house to work. The Attic Elite Team came in the next day to clean up the attic which took 1 full day for a 1600 SF house. The following day additional crews showed up to install attic insulation, duct system, and wall insulation. The attic insulation looks great but we run into issues with the duct work and wall insulation. We worked with Ben for the initial inspection and quote. We explicitly described out concerns with the side of the house that gets the heavy afternoon sun. We informed him that those rooms get heavy afternoon sun and our interior walls get up to 100 degrees. I also let him know that the vent/register for the rooms have very weak air flow and would not cool down the room. We discussed that installing new ducts would increase the cooling to the room and perimeter wall insulation would help keep the heat out. Unfortunately when it came time to complete the job and test the system the air flow to the room felt even lower than it previously was. I asked the team to balance out the airflow so that each room was getting the same air flow. Ben adamantly stated that the team will not balance the air flow and I would have to close other rooms vents myself, I was disappointed in his response. This phone call occured at 8pm in the evening and I was being pressured to accept the work and provide instant payment before the crews could leave. The contract and proposal clearly stated that Attic Elite "2. Installation of New Duct System Install new insulated ducting throughout the supply and return system. Size all ducts appropriately based on existing layout, Manual D calculations, and airflow requirements 3. Airflow Balancing and Adjustments Verify proper airflow delivery to all registers and returns. Make adjustments to dampers or duct sizing as needed to balance the system." I assumed they would come back the next day to finish the project and complete any remaining items. but that was not the case. I was pressured to pay on the spot and accept the work that I was unsatisfied with. Danis, the crew lead, was kind enough to try and fix the issues but I was still not satisfied. I reluctantly paid in sympathy to the crews that were staying past 8pm and for my sanity to rest before my next day of work. The following day I was able to see all the work in the daylight. Again I was disappointed, the 2 vets I requested to be moved and patched with smooth finish was left rough and screw heads exposed. Some vents showed adjacent drywall damage or exposed silver tape. I checked the interior wall temp with my thermal gun to check if I had any remaining hot spots. About 90% of my wall appeared to be correctly insulated and showing 75 degrees matching the interior house temp, the outdoor temp the day of testing was 75. There is 10% of the remaining wall showing an interior wall temp of 87 clearing indicating insulation was missing. Again I was extremely dissatisfied with the customer service. The first occasion was a text message at 11:30 pm. The next day I requested no more text messages in the evening. The next day we set up a window to call between 4pm and 7pm, he missed that window to call. I texted him to then call me the following day before 12 noon, he missed that call window too and replied with excuses that he was busy on other jobs that were much nastier than mine (referencing asbestos and pest droppings). I informed Ben that evenings do not work for me for communication, he did not seem to get that message and continued to text me after 7:30 PM. He also seemed confused about his own estimate asking me why he estimated 1,300 SF when my house is 1,600 SF. He seemed to not have an answer and insisted that I pay more because of his mistake. This feels like a bait and switch to get me signed on a low proposal and then find any excuse to charge more. I will say Ben did go out of his way to help me submit a claim to my home warranty for the duct work. He submitted the application immediately after approving the quote and gave me an itemized receipt to submit my claim. read more

I am disappointed. The sales person are all great, but the work that happens afterwards is just not what is promised. There is a 3 year warranty, but what use is the warranty if they don't have folks to come and follow up on it? We scheduled a follow up three weeks back. I stayed on home from work and despite reminders, no one showed up. I got an email the next day that appointment is now pushed out to after two weeks. If you are looking for rodent/rat issues, please look elsewhere. They did our insulation as well, which was fine. But even four months after we are still facing ample rat issues in our garage and they have not been able to find/block entrances. They were the second most expensive of the five quotes I received. I would not use this company again- it's not what I would expect from a Diamond Certified company. This is the third time I have had a house insulated, and the lowest satisfaction. Their price for my 1500 sf house was about $2K higher than another company, but I did get them to reduce it- that's not uncommon. What was uncommon was the screws left in my driveway, two razor blades stuck into firewood, and the small bits of old insulation and broken plants left at the front walkway. Honestly, a 15 minute job with a yard blower would have solved the debris, and a nail magnet would have gotten the screws in the driveway. The razor blades stuck in my firewood logs could have been very bad, but luckily I spotted them. I had a question about the expansion foam that was applied directly to my roof (was it going to be a source for rot?) and whether I needed to add air vents now that the garage was insulated (roofer said 'yes'). No reply from Attic Elite. Overall the job appeared to have been done well. In addition to removing the blown-in insulation and replacing it with batts, they added a "whole house fan" and it has been great at cooling off the house at night, since I don't have and can't afford air conditioning. In summary, while their work seems to be fine, they are sloppy and will not answer questions. They want to be paid as soon as they leave, which I understand but it's also bad to not give customers some time to make sure the job was done right, but they know things get discovered a day or two later. read more

We got insulation done because of the high moisture contents in our house. Milo did his assessment and was very professional and offered us a discount since we booked right away for a weekday. Two of his guys came over and did the insulation from the outside but I noticed that the work cause several nails in different rooms to pop through our drywall. We wanted to have it blown in from the outside because the inside of our house had just been updated and painted. When we brought it up to the guy at the time he said something along the lines of "yeah that can happen sometimes" and when asked if there's anything he could do to fix it he said no. To start off we had 5 different companies come out and give us a quote for removing and replacing insulation in the attic and the crawl space, as well installing a vapor barrier on top of our rat slab in the crawl space. It is almost one year since June 24, 2021 installation day for 1 year warranty. We discovered it is VERY Very Difficult to call this Attic Elite company during 1 year warranty period to honor the rat proofing in our attic. Each time we called to report rat running in attic, rat dropping on NEW insulation, and NEW air return duct got damaged, it would take about 10 phone calls, 3-4 emails, not showing up on scheduled appointment without communicating that the worker would NOT show up to do the repair before its worker showed up to work for 1 hour. As of today, our house still has at least 2 vents without rat proofing, maybe 3 vents. Worker installed additional metal mesh for 3 open tar papers, the worker found only one, I found two openings, it was very easy, just look up to see any light shine through dark space of the attic. He also put foam on our metal roof, then he claimed no more foam to work on, he would come back in future as a favor. I documented the conversation, emailed this information the Attic Elite while it was still under warranty. Nothing happened, 3 weeks already passed, nobody showed up to complete the job. No email reply, no phone calls to honor the 1 year warranty. Is it the company problem or worker problem? If workers did a complete job, not missing or convenient chose what to do, then there is no need for coming back, then I would not need to write this 2 star review. We wish we would pay by credit card to have some leverage. The savings from cash payment we used as the tip for workers. We regretted to give out tip too soon on the first day of the job. We should wait for 1 year before giving out tip while dealing with Attic Elite after knowing the performance of workers and company. We held back the tip of last visit, we did not know it was a good practice to give out tip on incomplete work or not. We could not sign additional new contract for rat proofing maintenance with this company. read more
