I received a flyer from AttiCare in the mail about $100 cleaning and called them over to inspect my house in April. I was told that there had been rodents chewing through my airducts and making a mess in my attic. I was shocked that now I'd be spending thousands more than I planned, but realized that I haven't had these areas cleaned in the last 15 years and suspected pests. German was the one who gave me a quote and I was surprised to hear how eager he was to give me a discount when I told him I heard friends of friends received good service from other competitors. I decided to go with AttiCare because I wanted to get the job done immediately and was glad to hear reassurance from German that he would go out of his way to fix any problems that came up with the attic now and in the future (at least according to warranty). A crew of five guys came to do my house over the course of 6-7 hours and showed me pictures of the job they did. The pictures "looked" good and I thought that these spaces in my home were finally clean. A couple weeks later I was curious to see just how good of a job AttiCare had done and was very disappointed with my findings. In the attic, I found dirty, old insulation mixed with new, rodent droppings in at least seven areas left underneath insulation, and at least twelve sections along the perimeter that had no insulation. In the crawl space the team replaced air ducts almost at random where the outer lining on some tubes were left with punctured holes and some that were merely patched up with duct tape. They did replace a few 12 inch tubes, but left so many others untreated. Furthermore a couple boxes, plastic waste and trash were left down there without any explanation. Obviously, none of these "problems" showed up in the several pictures they showed me after they left. It's been nothing short of a self-inflicted head trauma trying to get back in touch with this company. It took two weeks just to get the office to send some one over. We thought they were sending someone to finish the job, but instead it was just an inspector who wanted to look over the problematic areas and sell us excuses on why one part doesn't look like the other or that they aren't responsible for leaving things the way they did! Another series of calls to the office to resolve these problems have resulted in nothing. I kept hearing their supervisor's name Tony come up, yet none of the people I've talked to will give me his phone number or even let me speak with him to address my concerns. Even worse, they've been telling me that my warranty is active, but even then they won't complete the job we both agreed to at the beginning! So much for AttiCare's guarantee that they would take care of our home. I have to admit that I've been using Yelp in the past in a passive form of reading what others experienced. However after my extremely unsatisfactory situation with AttiCare and its suspicious Yelp reviews, I had to create an account and share my story. This company cannot be trusted! Be cautious of what they tell and show you. They appear to count on customers who aren't going to bother doing their own follow-up inspections and will make it extremely difficult to help you after you've paid them regardless of a so called "warranty". read more

Our family has stayed silent about the terrifyingly negligent service provided by Atticare nearly three years ago, but upon finding out that OUR NEIGHBORS (see recent post by Deborah) RECENTLY HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY, and that it is still ongoing, I feel compelled to finally post a review. We hired Atticare to remove ASBESTOS from our attic, and rather than abiding by what they promised us prior to starting the job, they took NO SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. We came home near the end of the job to find that they did not seal off rooms as had been promised, none of their workers were wearing safety gear and they spread asbestos into every room of our home through the heating vents installed in our ceiling. THEY RAN A LEAKY HOSE THROUGHOUT OUR HOME AND INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Turns out, they LIED ABOUT THEIR CREDENTIALS and were NOT QUALIFIED TO DEAL WITH ASBESTOS anyway. When we contacted Atticare, Zach's local manager immediately admitted that they botched the job. However, ZACH REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the debacle. Because of the asbestos contamination (verified by air quality testing), our family (including our toddler children) had to MOVE OUT OF OUR RESIDENCE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH, dispose of all contaminated household items (think appliances with fans, rugs, couches, mattresses, and many many irreplaceable personal items), conduct multiple rounds of air quality sampling (both for us and for our very concerned neighbors), perform a professional top to bottom remediation of our home, and pay several thousand dollars in lawyer fees. There were several months of back-and-forth communication with Zach and his company to come to a settlement that ONLY PARTIALLY COMPENSATED US for this disaster. Needless to say, we are forever scarred from the experience, and will never be certain that our family was not exposed to lethal asbestos levels due to Atticare's negligence. Upon finding out that after all of this, Atticare has potentially tainted our neighbors home, we are incredibly upset. Please take note of this review, and AVOID ATTICARE AT ALL COSTS if you value your health, safety, and sanity. The sales person that visits your home the first time says all the right things to make you feel confident that the job will get finished safely but the workers that arrive to do the work are uninformed and improperly trained. And the original salesman is nowhere to be seen. For more than 6 months Zach claimed the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and/or closing due to financial problems and because of this could not pay us for the things we lost during this nightmare experience. He, and the company he runs, clearly only care about money. Their customers health and safety are clearly not important. read more

My experience with Atticare for attic clean-up and insulation refill was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. There were several issues that highlighted their lack of professionalism and failure to fulfill their contractual obligations. Initially, they promised to vacuum all the blow-in insulation from the attic, including the garage area, and assured me it would be completed in one day. However, despite sending a crew of four people, they finished the job in just four hours. They claimed all work was done and promised to provide before-and-after photos by the following Monday. However, these photos were delayed by three days and didn't even cover all areas of the attic. Upon inspecting myself, I discovered that insulation under loose plywood in the garage and kitchen areas had not been removed, contrary to our agreement. Additionally, debris in these areas was left untouched. I contacted them with photographic evidence and they agreed to a second appointment to rectify the situation. To my surprise, they sent only one person accompanied by a 13-year-old child, equipped with a handheld vacuum. This method of work was unprofessional and resulted in fine dust covering my washer, dryer, and garage corners. Furthermore, the shelf near the attic entrance collapsed the same night, likely due to mishandling during insulation removal. Unfortunately, the issues didn't end there. During routine HVAC maintenance the following weekend, I discovered insulation had not been properly removed from under the HVAC unit. It appeared they had deliberately covered this area with new batt insulation to conceal their oversight from the photos they provided. When I raised this concern with their office and the estimator, I was met with unprofessionalism and hostility. Instead of addressing my valid concerns, I was scolded for being "picky" and asked to provide directions on how they should perform their job. After persistent complaints, they finally sent their supposed "top-notch technician" who managed to rectify most of the missed spots using a handled vacuum and MY extension cord. However, even after their intervention, I found two additional areas with old insulation remaining, which I decided to leave as they were in the garage. I reached out to the office via text to seek compensation for my lost time (two working days, time spent inspecting their work, and cleaning up the garage). Unfortunately, I received no response from them whatsoever. In conclusion, my experience with Atticare was marred by unfulfilled promises, unprofessional conduct, and poor customer service. I would strongly advise others to consider alternative options for attic clean-up and insulation services. read more

I found an ad in the mail for attic cleanup with rodent proofing with $95 OFF coupon. I called Atticare company, and was able to make an appointment with them fairly quickly on Sunday! Aaron comes to our house to inspect our attic. He immediately notices that our current insulation is very old, and there are a few holes in our attic. He takes a lot of pictures of our attic to show us. After inspecting our attic, Aaron recommended the following: 1. Remove all of the old insulation 2. Sanitize the attic 3. Rodent proof the attic by covering up all holes 4. Blow in new insulation Due to all of the things that had to be done, we were unable to use the $95 OFF 'attic cleanup and rodent proofing' coupon. Instead Aaron calculated all of the items and provided us with a final cost. It was definitely much higher than we expected...lol. I and my husband were definitely a bit shocked at the price, since we were just expecting to pay around $300. Aaron had to explain to us why the cost was high. Of course, we should need time to do some research before we felt comfortable signing up for it, however I trusted Aaron from the moment I saw him by the entry door and I didn't do any further research and gave a 10% of deposit right away! On the day of the attic cleanup, Aaron and his team called us about 30 minutes before their arrival time. They parked their trailer and van on our driveway and quickly got to work. First, his team protected all of the floors and carpets by placing a black tarp on the ground. Then the team began putting together the vacuum tubes. Team began cleaning up the attic by vacuuming all of the old insulation. I saw that our old insulation filled up 4 bags. When all of the old insulation was removed, the crew started sanitizing the attic. They also covered all the holes for rodent proofing. I really appreciate the crew took a lot of pictures to show me all the holes that were covered. Finally, it was time to blow in the new insulation into the attic. This process took about 2 hours to complete. When the team was done, they removed all of the black tarp and helped vacuum around the floors. Thank you Atticare!! I and my husband are really pleased with overall work. I am happy about the new insulation and that our house is now rodent proofed! We recently hired AttiCare to analyze possible causes of excessive dust accumulation in our home. We suspected that the attic was the source and were fortunate to get Scott as team leader. He made the initial visit to our home ... quickly and thoroughly analyzing our attic problems, and expertly recommending what we should consider having done to improve the situation. He explained to us that years ago our attic had been "insulated" with shredded newspaper, which now was so disintegrated that most of it had turned to pure dust which is easily spread into the air. He showed us samples from our attic of the poor-quality insulation, and recommended that we have it removed. He told us about the kinds of insulation he could provide and was very clear about the methods, the time, and the cost that would be involved. We hired him on the spot because of his professionalism and because he genuinely wanted us to be completely satisfied with AttiCare's work. Scott backed up his analysis with photographs of the current state of our attic. He explained how he would clean the attic thoroughly, and replace the old shredded paper with Owens Corning L77 insulation (R-30 blown-in type -- check out on Google, this stuff is great!!!!). He showed us pictures of our ducts, some of which were damaged, and said he would cover each duct with a thermal-type wrap, and would seal them for us and place new wire mesh over all vents. The crew came and bagged about 30-40 bags of the old stuff. They then thoroughly vacuumed the remaining particles from the attic. Scott came by to check on the work and made sure all was done the way he had described and promised. Once the new insulation was blown in, and all problems addressed and fixed, we were very pleased with the results. We would like to give our hearty thanks to Scott and his crew. Just had my home attic cleaned, sanitized, rodent proof and had new insulation blown in by Atticare. Having severe rodent problems in the past, I knew that it would be a big job removing all the old insulation and installing new insulation. I called another well known company through the ValPak mailer and made an appointment for them to come and give me an estimate. I was shocked to find out on my appointment date that they were not coming and that they went ahead and rescheduled me one week later without even informing me of the change. What kind of business practice is that?? After checking with Yelp and reading all the positive feed backs, I decided to go with Atticare and requested Sean and his crew to do the job. Atticare called me a few days before, to confirm my appointment. On the day of my appointment, Sean called me a few hours earlier than my schedule time and said he was already in my area and asked to come earlier. Not only was he very nice, professional and trustworthy, he didn't try to over sell anything that wasn't needed. Before doing the job, he was helpful in explaining each step of the process and the cost involved before starting the job. He also took many pictures during his inspection of the problem areas, so I could see what was needed to complete the job. I felt very comfortable with Sean; he was very pleasant and easy to talk to. He worked with me to find ways to lower the costs of the project. Luckily, he had a crew finishing a job close by. By utilizing that same crew and the material that was left over he was able to save the company money and at the same time help cut some of my cost. I decided right away to go with them and they finished the job that very same day. They also did a great job cleaning up after their mess. There is a senior discount of 10%, and a 1 year warranty for new insulation and rodent proofing. Sean even told me to call him in 3 months, even if there are no problems, and he will come out and reinspect the work that was done to make sure things are okay. I highly recommend Sean and Atticare. I honestly don't think enough can be said about the service of this company. From the sales support to the team on the jobsite, this company really impressed me. The attic was my last project on our home that was in contract to sell and we needed expedited service on a very aged and overdue attic. The home inspection noted rat infestation and recommendation of further inspection. I called Atticare on a Thursday frantically looking to get this done before appraisal on Tuesday (honestly not thinking this could be done). To my surprise, the sales team and work crew were able to communicate in live time while I was on the phone to get that Saturday booked for the job. To look back and realize the stress I had that Thursday knowing I needed to have this large project done within four days and to be informed that it would be done Saturday, I just cannot emphasize my gratitude for the prompt service. The team on the job kept my house clean from start to finish vacuuming my hardwood all the way to the front door as they left. I will also mention from a compliance standpoint, Atticare was the only company I was in contact with that informed me of electrical concerns that would need to be looked at by a licensed electrician. I heard no such concerns from any other companies bidding the job and this was greatly appreciated. I had many jobs done on this house but as far as impressing me, Atticare took the trophy there. I need to give a further shout out to Robert on the sales side who went above and beyond to get this booked in rapid pace as well as Yosio on the project side who stayed in communication from the time the job was booked until completion. Okay, these guys are our heroes! We have had rats chewing their way into our attic and basement for years. Several exterminators, roofers, and handy-people have worked on the problem, and the rats find their way back in. We had begun to think we'd have to move if we wanted to live rat-free. Then we found an ad for Atticare. They came the very next morning to assess the attic and see about the $94 cleaning offer. These guys descended on our house like a SWAT team, brave enough to crawl through every inch of our attic and basement and seal up every last hole, as carefully as if they were the ones who lived here. They found a nest and lots of debris and even a live rat, which they stuck in a plastic bag and took away (and didn't kill, which was great). We decided to have them vacuum out all the dust and droppings, patch the holes, and replace the insulation, saving us the large cleaning fee. The total cost was much more than the $94 but it was worth every dollar. And they vacuumed the basement crawl space at no extra cost, since they already brought the "suck truck." The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, especially German who assured us we could call him any time for a year and they would come back and fix things at no charge. That night we were sure we heard a rat in the attic, running and chewing, so we called and they came the next morning, did a thorough inspection and sanitizing, and explained the rat we heard must have been on the roof, not in the attic. He was so nice, and said, "once we do the work, if there are any problems, they're our problems, not yours." Atticare did an excellent job cleaning the attic in my Concord house, sealing holes where rats were getting in, and replacing my stinky old cellulose insulation with new R38 fiberglass bats. I had a bad experience with a different company who claimed to have years of experience solving rat problems. After I signed their contract and paid them $750 they only sent out one guy who spent a few minutes sealing a couple of holes and setting two snap traps. They practically ignored me after that first visit; checking the traps a few times, avoiding my phone calls, and never catching a single rat. Frustrated by the other company's quick initial sales call followed by terrible service; I carefully interviewed seven more rodent exclusion companies before selecting Atticare. It took longer to schedule the initial review with Atticare; but they were much more professional and thorough than the other companies. David spent thirty minutes climbing through my attic and checking my foundation and eaves. He wore proper safety gear -- Tyvek coveralls, gloves, and a respirator. He listened to my story carefully then proposed a plan that included insulation removal, rodent proofing, and new fiberglass batt insulation. He explained that he could not fix my attic problems without removing the powdery cellulose insulation that was hiding the holes and tunnels that the rats were using. Elmer and his crew arrived on time and worked hard all day to complete the job before 5:00 pm. They were polite, kept me informed, and cleaned up every trace of debris before leaving. They plugged all of the holes that I pointed out, sealed other holes that I didn't know about and went the extra mile to make sure that I was satisfied. read more

I read many reviews on Yelp about Attic cleanup/rodent removal/prevention services before deciding on Attic Care. As quite a few reviewers here, Mike K paid the first visit. As other reviews, he was very thorough, and explained the details while checking my attic, and basement(which was quite a mess due to many years of abandonment). His quote included removing junks that has been accumulated by the previous owner and us for over 40 years. Anyway, we were happy with the very reasonable offer and signed the contract on the spot. On the promised day, however, they had a problem with their truck and the cleanup date was postponed. Oh, well, that can happen. On the day of the second appointment, they showed up but with a smaller truck than anticipated. When my wife called Mike, he said that they still have problems with their main truck. The crew did, however, a very good job cleaning, fixing ducts, etc., but left most of the junks because the truck was just too small. They promised to come back(when they work near our home) to take the junks away some time in the future. As is with most contract workers, we were doubtful that they will ever show up and thought about calling you-got-junk or whoever on of these days. Yesterday, we were happily surprised that Attic Care called and said that they will come and take the junks away. Today, the crew of 3 showed up with a pretty big truck and hauled away all the junks. I would like to highly recommend Attic Care to any people interested in attic care plus rodent prevention. I had first heard of Atticare after seeing their coupon for an inspection and cleaning, but I did not expect that to apply to my attic - it is large (2000 sq. ft.) and needed a lot of attention. They responded to my inquiry over the weekend, came out on Monday, and ended up finishing the job on the same day. It took a crew of 6 guys about 6 hours to finish the job, so of course it was not going to be $99 (I really do not understand some of these reviewers!). They completely vacuumed and cleaned out the attic which means they removed all the old disgusting insulation, rodent feces, dirt, etc. This is a messy job that requires specific equipment, personal safety gear, gas masks, and a container to hold all of this stuff to take out to the dump! Then they spent quite a while "rodent-proofing" the area to block all the spots where roof rats had been entering our attic. This looked like it should be effective - but only time will tell. They also repaired some insulation that had been gnawed away from the heating ducts in the area. Next they sanitized the area to remove and neutralize the rodent odors. Finally they blew back in a good thick layer of fresh insulation and then did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. I was really happy with this service. Before I saw their ads I did not even realize that you could hire a service to do this dirty job for you. Now I feel much better knowing that all that mess is not up in my attic anymore!
