Friendly staff and great service made a long line go quick. Which was great, because it made it a shorter time between me and an incredible Reuben. Stacked high with finely shredded corn beef, generous sauerkraut, fresh bread and dressing, it was a great experience. I did have to eat it in two separate sittings because it was so massive. I did also enjoy the strawberry cheesecake. Fresh and fluffy cake paired well with the soft cream cheese and well spread icing and jam filling. I must say Greensboro has really improved over the years as far as cuisine offerings go. When I went to graduate school here in the '70s there was little beyond Southern home cooking and cafeterias. Today, within 5-10 minutes ypu can be enjoying Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern and the list goes on. The one thing that has never been in Greensboro since Sammy's on Lawndale closed years ago, is a good Jewish deli. So, while I was on my way to Baltimore to a family b'nei mitzvah, I did some research and found Attman's, a relic in downtown Baltimore. The neighborhood at this point was a bit questionable so I really appreciated that they had a nice big parking lot right next door to the restaurant. Before I even walked in, I noticed they had a room called the "Kibbitz Room" and I knew I was at the right place! One interesting note... When I walked in I was the only white person. It was so heartwarming for me to see so many people of color appreciate a good pastrami sandwich and a knish!! I kept being torn between a chopped liver sandwich and a salami sandwich on rye and so I asked the guy if he would make me a combo of those two which he was happy to accommodate. I was in heaven. I rounded it off with a round knish which is not so easy to find these days. They even had one stuffed with meat. Maybe next time! And then something took my breath away. Did I see a cake actually made out of rainbow cookies? Oh my God I thought I was going to die. I had to have one of those. A beautiful slice of rainbow cake with chocolate icing. Oi vay!!! I did not ask his name but there was a gentleman that worked behind the counter and also brought me my knish. He was absolutely charming and so proud that he works at Attman's He told me he had been there for years and it showed. He was extremely helpful and warm and filled with pride! Most people got their food to go, but I wanted to spend a few minutes soaking in the atmosphere of the Kibbitz Room. As I suspected, the wall was filled with nostalgia and memorabilia and photos from past customers and owners. Reminded me a lot of Katz's Deli on Houston Street in New York. I took my time and enjoyed every bite. I took the rainbow cake with me to slowly devour for my last leg to my hotel in Baltimore. I hope Attman's has a future. The clientele and neighborhood may have shifted a bit, but business was brisk and everybody seemed very happy to be there and it felt like they had been there many times before! I love satisfying my Jewish cravings when I can find a good deli along my travels. Attman's definitely did the trick. Food was fresh and tasty, the service was lovely and it hit the spot after being in Fiddler on the Roof! Attman's is an institution everyone should visit at least once. Right on corned beef row, it is one you should not miss. The line forms away from the door and it is tight in there. There is a dining room off to the left about halfway back where you can sit and eat after getting your food. The menu is expansive with all the Jewish classics. My personal favorite is the Gay Liveration - corned beef and chopped liver is the perfect combo. Service is deli counter style - you stay with the employee you order with as you move down the line and they hand off to the cashier to pay. I've heard good things about Attman's and we finally went to check them out. It gives classic deli vibes with the decor and ambience. You order at the counter and there is seating available inside. Staff here were friendly. We ordered a corned beef and Swiss on rye and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The sandwich was piled high with delicious corned beef on a soft and flavorful rye. The chicken noodle soup was also tasty and perfect homestyle comfort food. We both loved the food and to top it off everything is very reasonably priced which is hard to find in this current time! A colleague and I went to Attman's Deli for lunch today & I am really glad we did. For starters, the sandwiches are huge, I got the Lombard Street, which consisted of Corned Beef, Pastrami & Liver w/ Russian Dressing and it was a 10/10. The deli gives you that NYC vibe, the menu is huge & it has a lot of crowd pleasers on there. While dining in, I got the chance to meet one of the owners, and signed this neat book for first time visitors. That was pretty cool, he also shared that they just recently celebrated being in business form since 1915, owned by the same family. Wow! This is a staple in my childhood. I remember going to Attmans as a little girl with both my mom and dad and eagerly trying to see the top of the counter but I was too little. There are so many memories I have of going there with my parents to order sandwiches. I have been ordering the same sandwich since my childhood, "corn beef on rye with mustard , onions and provolone cheese heated" with a pickle on the side. I'm now 42 years old and I've been going since I can remover at around 10years old. The food is always fresh, always plentiful. The establishment has always been cleaned and the service is top tier. Sone of those same guys have been there for over thirty-years. It still has that throwback sober feel and I love it still . The ambiance still feels like it did years ago, right at home! read more

Instant fave!!! My Baltimore friends never steer me wrong with their local recommendations and this place far surpassed my non-expectations. It's a no frills diner with a long deli line that moves steadily, but the sandwiches are so worth the wait. We got the President's Special with some variations, like one friend got it on sourdough and another friend got it "heavy" (i.e. extra meat), and it was amazing. The sauce is delicious and got it all over my fingers as I shared stories but again, worth it, and I was happily full by the time I finished eating. It's one of those meals where I got to the end and was already sad it was over and looking forward to the next time I could have this sandwich again. I heard about Attman's in the Sporkful podcast, and being in Baltimore it was the perfect opportunity to visit, and give them a try. This is one of those locations you step back into time when you walk in. Pretty nostalgic if you ask me. The hotdog was served quickly and I enjoyed the overall experience. I had a taste for a nice deli sandwich a corn beef sandwich to be exact and here comes my husband with a bag from Attman's Deli. I seen the bag and immediately got excited! I looked inside and see 4 items wrapped in white paper, a load of seeded rye bread, and the famous Attman's deli mustard. I reached in the bag and unwrap 2 types of smoked turkey meat, corn beef, cheddar, swiss, provolone, and pepper jack cheese. Omg!! OMG! This was legitimately the best sandwich I've had in so so long. This place is out of this world and everything you would expect a real Jewish deli to be. I could eat a thousand sandwiches from here. I got the roast beef with everything on it. It was massive. I ate the entire thing though. It was too good to save. I also bought some of their crispy baked cookies in lemon sugar flavor and they were out of this world too. It's rare that I like cookies that are sold in packages that much but the flavor and crunch was fantastic. I want to go back and try to chocolate chip ones. It's counter service and tiny inside but it really leans into the authentic feel/experience for me. Was on the hunt for a good corn, beef and pastrami sandwich! One of my favorite sandwiches to get, but it's hard to find it made as good as I used to get it in New Jersey lol. After searching around in trial and error, a lot of people in Baltimore kept telling me to try this place. I've been here over three times already and each time I go I never have complaints. The prices are reasonable, especially for deli meat and pastrami since it's normally on the higher side. I normally get the pick two, which is the corn beef and pastrami and I get it on a sub roll with Russian dressing and I add coleslaw. It's amazing I promise lol. The food always taste fresh and it always made correctly. I've never sat in. I've always gotten my food to go or through a food ordering service like DoorDash or Uber eats. One thing that I really enjoy from there are the pickles and the coleslaw. They really taste fresh. I tend to only use this place when I really want a good pastrami and corn beef sandwich but I've also ordered breakfast food from there. Catching up on Yelp reviews and I visited back in June. I visited DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia for a baseball stadiums trip with some buddies to knock those stadiums out of the park... Attman's is located in the Jonestown neighborhood, which is about 1.5-mile east of the Inner Harbor. I am a huge fan of pastrami and corned beef sandwiches and I heard Attman's is one of the best in the nation! I arrived on a Sunday around 11:30am for lunch and there was a small line. I could see this place being packed at times, but the line moved efficiently. There was a small sit-down area in the next room (very similar setup of Mr. Beef on Orleans in Chicago). I ordered the Stu Special (Corned beef, pastrami, Swiss, Cole slaw, and Russian dressing on rye). The corned beef and pastrami were hot, rich, tender, juicy, perfectly sliced so it was great. The russian dressing was great. Typically it's too watered down, but this was saucier. Their housemade mustard was excellent. It was a little bit of Dijon and thick. They were not giant sandwiches like Katz Deli or Manny's Deli. Price was $25 for the sandwich, drink, and chips. Well worth the price and a visit! read more

This visit was long overdue. I've been craving a good corned beef sandwich for months now and after being let down and unsatisfied, I had to go and make it right. Like the saying goes...if you want corned beef done right, let Attman's do it. Or however it goes. I was about the 8th person in line and I think everyone before was getting the same thing! It's been a year since we last stopped in here ! It has not changed except we grabbed 2 pounds of the Best Corned Beef in Baltimore and a loaf of their Fresh Rye Bread and their Homemade Potato Salad The line to order is always long but moves fairly quickly, service is also always on the money. There is a small parking lot next to the deli, so you really don't need to park on the street, the area is in an older part of the city. Inside has not changed, the area to eat if you choose to do so is rather neat, walls are filled with historic photos over the years, very interesting to check them out. First, went early enough to avoid the crowd. Second, knew what we wanted ahead of time. The Lombard Street was a very good sandwich, and the liver was nicely done. The Russian dressing with this makes it perfect. The Cloak & Dagger was another nice sandwich. These two sandwiches had corned beef which lacked some flavor. The Lombard was less noticeable than the C&D. The coleslaw was good and the Russian dressing was very good. Since these are placed on rye bread, sogginess is eventual, though the leftover C&D didn't suffer from that condition. You can't complain about sogginess when it is on bread. The meat knish is like a pasty but with different ingredients. It was drier than other meat pies. There was a spiciness to it and was also good. The pickle was no different than the Claussen kosher dills I eat. Not worth its price. Overall, the food was good but not worthy of five stars. The Lombard definitely is worth trying and don't fear the liver. As for the staff, really good and provided a nice experience when dealing with customers. read more

Come for the history and order wisely. It's the oldest family-owned deli in the country first opened in 1915. Today, it's a no-frills deli with staff who have worked there for decades. The menu is huge with sandwiches to desserts to chips and desserts. My group of seven ordered the chicken salad sandwiches, pastrami on rye, kishka, pickles, a Caesar salad, and chicken tenders for the kids. The only items that stuck out as noteworthy were the pickles and kishka. Everything else was okay. I wish I could marry these sandwiches, every single one. Attman's is a Baltimore staple and once you get your order, you know why. The sandwiches are piled high with meat, even the hot dogs come with extra meat, and it is sooooo tender and delicious. I can't even describe it - it's just that insanely good. A warning to the more timid of us: this is a fast-paced deli where they are churning out orders all day long. Come prepared, know your order, say it with confidence, then step back and wait. You will get yelled at if you lallygag and some of us could be really embarrassed. And if you do get yelled at, don't worry - it happens to the best of us and you're about to get the best sandwich ever! The Stu Special was calling my name as I was craving both pastrami and corned beef, and it satisfied both cravings 10x over. I ate exactly half of my sandwich and then had to take a nap to digest. My fiancée ate his half of the Nosh on Rye before I could take three bites of the Stu Special, so o guarantee you it was delicious, I just didn't taste it myself I've never has knishes before and the potato was great, I'll definitely try the meat knish next time! It's a Baltimore classic! Family owned and operated for generations. The food is wonderful and plenty of parking.

This place is like coming home because of fond memories here. My family would come to the area for fresh chickens and fresh meat. This area was one of the top places in Baltimore to get fresh items. But things do change. I was last here with my mother in 1998 for the corn beef and it still taste the same. I had today the corn beef and the roast beef. The corn beef was made to order that was with rye bread and mustard. This is the way my dad likes his and I am a traditionalist. The sandwich was warm and tasty from the first to the last. The sandwich is big enough for two but hey this is just too good to share. Get your own! The roast beef was also good and tender. Delicious. I had this the same way as above. Not too fatty. Some places give you a lot fat with it but this was spot on. Also big enough for two and no sharing allowed. The place is not too far from the inner harbor and parking can be a bear. Their is parking in the rear but it can be tight as well. Inside you will have a line ahead of you. The staff seem to know everyone and since the food is good, a lot of frequent flyers. They are very knowledgeable and will help you with ordering. They do have a small area to sit down and eat. They are very busy so it is best to order ahead. Finally, I saved the best for last. The classic dill pickle. When I was a kid this was the best part of the meal. Yes. my desert. The pickle was delicious, crisp with the right amount of spice and sourness. Just a thing of beauty.
