Checked in at my favorite coffee spot in Catonsville! Today I got an iced maple cinnamon latte with oatmilk and an avocado toast to go. The latte was delicious but the cinnamon all sunk to the bottom and created a sort of sludge (maybe a bit less cinnamon would've been better). The avocado toast was amazing in flavor as usual, but my toast was a little more charred than I would've liked. And finally, Atwater's has tons of locally made wine and beers, so I decided to do the make-your-own-6-pack deal for $15 with some locally brewed beers. I asked for the plastic topper so I could make my 6-pack, but they were out, so they just gave me a paper bag to put my beer cans in. This deli sandwiches here are amazing. Fresh and delicious and well prepared. We had decaf coffees in the afternoon and they tasted a little odd. Regardless, we will definitely be back here again when we go to Catonsville. The deli is very quant and cozy with a second level dining area. So if you are planning to go for a coffee date it's a perfect place to be. Parking is a bit of a challenge--there are a few spots behind the building, plus some street parking, but during peak hours you might have to circle a bit. Had a 15 minute wait for a party of 3 on a Sunday afternoon. The menu was unimpressive, with everything on the menu a bit fancier than my tastes, and they're priced to match. Just about every dish had avocado or some kind of fancy sauce or cheese. Our server looked at us like we were crazy when we asked for some small changes or additions to our meals. The coffee was a bit bitter and was only refilled once. One of the people in my party had their order completely forgotten either by the server or the kitchen (the shift supervisor did apologize). I would only give the food a 4/4.5 depending on what you get but the servers are always crazy nice and helpful. Ham Jam Sandwich: ham, cheddar cheese, jam on a biscuit. I added a fried egg, which was a nice addition. I would ask for more jam on the side. Their biscuits aren't like traditional, thick, buttermilk southern round biscuits. They're rectangular, on the thinner side (which works well to hold the Sandwich together perfectly), and very soft. Would definitely get again. Pancakes: they're unique... Have an ingredient that I can't pinpoint... They're fine but they don't stand out to me. Bacon: not thick but not annoyingly thin. Cooked well... This is important to know lol I would get again Avocado toast: was not giving at all. Needs something else to brighten it.. Maybe something citrus to compliment the other flavors. Wouldn't get again. The shop has a very small store front and I was shocked to see such a spacious cafe behind the doors. The service was helpful and friendly when I walked in. There are a FEW options to sit down inside --and outside of the shop on a nice day. I dropped in to grab a decaf iced coffee and it was completely disgusting. I took a sip leaving out and thought it was horrible, but figured I could doctor it up in the car. I don't know what happened, but I got a bad batch of coffee, bad milk, or bad something. My husband and I visited Atwater's today hoping to enjoy delicious, healthy meal. I noticed many of my fellow Yelp Elites enjoyed this place, so I figure I would too. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and highly doubt I will return. My husband ordered a Grilled Corn Beef Reuben without Sauerkraut, while I ordered the Field Green Salad with grilled chicken. After driving away, my husband took a bite into his sandwich which a face full of confusion. Turns out, he was given the Turkey Reuben instead of the Corn Beef Reuben. He called the restaurant to inform them of the mishap and the nice young lady on the phone apologized and offered to make him the correct sandwich, which he agreed to. Unfortunately, his second sandwich was still incorrect, as he ordered the Grilled Corn Beef Reuben without Sauerkraut and the sandwich had kraut . The Field Green Salad I ordered was just ok, as it was missing the apples. I definitely would have enjoyed it more as the apples would have added some crunch and a bit of sweetness. They were also out of the mixed greens that normally come in the salad, so they substituted arugula, which completely overpowered the dish. Needless to say, after spending over $50 on what we thought would be a quick, easy and thoughtless dinner, we're not happy. Neither of us finished our meals meaning we have to venture back out to spend more money. Sure, the staff of friendly, but that no consolation for receiving an order you didn't pay for. read more

I always love visiting Atwater's at DMV farmers' markets so I was really excited to finally stop by the brick and mortar location! It's a really cute space, there are a few tables downstairs near where you order, but there's a good amount of space upstairs too. We got some tasty seasonal lattes and a few goodies from the pastry case- it was a few days before Halloween so there were some cute themed options like mini monster cakes and Halloween cupcakes. the dine-in service is meh. they make you wait for your drink to take to the table yourself, and don't give you silverware. You have to get it yourself, and when I went to get some, the basket was empty. The eggs were cold by the time I got some. So it it kind of do it yourself, but they still ask for a tip at the register. Also, if you want toast, you need to specify that it is actually toasted bc for some reason they dont seem to have the gist of what toast is. they basically show the bread to the toaster, resulting in just bread basically. You also have to ask if there are bread options and meal side options, bc they don't always check with you about what options you want and just give you whatever. read more

We discovered there was one on our way out. We had the main menu (the one available online) and we were never given any specials. We found out there were other things offered by the table next to us when they ordered soup. Three adults got the salmon sandwich and by the time they came they were cold. We ordered them without bacon so I'm not sure if that's why it was completely bland or what but they were flavorless. Underseasoned in every aspect. The other adult got a burger which was...you guessed it...flavorless. And greasy. The kids got the side of Mac and cheese. It was disgusting. It smelled like bar rags and tasted like them too. My kids love cheese. Camembert, Gouda, Brie, parm, cheddar, Gruyère, feta, smoked cheddar, sharp cheddar, aged cheddar, raclette, goat cheese...you get the picture. They like cheese. They are not strangers to weird cheese. But whatever was used in the macaroni tonight was absolutely horrid. The scent alone was putrid. The only thing that was decent was the soup. A completely underwhelming experience. The only reason the second star is there is because the cookies purchased from downstairs (almond shortbread) were great. Today I tried their fairly new, "Grilled Chicken, Squash & Feta with Harissa" sandwich along with my usual latte with this time, vanilla lavender syrup (I usually get maple.) This sandwich isn't my favorite, I expected more spicy or flavorful harissa and chicken (chicken had no flavor) but the bread and the sandwich wasn't bad especially when you add hot sauce that's on the table. I'm happy to see their upstairs construction expansion is finally done. It looks so aesthically pleasing! I love how quaint, homey, rustic, and cute this place is. You can truly taste high quality ingredients in their food and the service is great. For those who've never been... I hadn't been to this location in years and WOW! They've really made some wonderful changes. The shop is huge now, with lots of seating.
