Stopped for the first time and got the clam strip plate as a throw back to my favorite snack at the ice cream stop I worked at when I was 14. They were- salty, briny, yummy - perfectly crisp and the breading wasn't too heavy. The fries were on point as well, crispy and hot. The basket was overflowing so much so that when I sat them on the passenger seat the car recognized the weight and wanted a seatbelt to be put on... I don't do coleslaw, tartar, or ketchup so I'll have to ask them to hold those next time so they're not wasted but definitely great quality and quantity for the price. 10.12.25 Had the half and half plate with belly clams and scallops for $29.42. Definitely some of the best clams and scallops around. Golden brown and not overcooked like I've experienced at other area restaurants. The clam bellies were medium to large and quite good. The scallops were about an inch and a half in diameter. Kind of pricey but seems to be the going rate in New Hampshire. read more

I had a belly clam roll and my wife had the fish and chips and they were both great. We ordered at the front and grabbed a table, service was fast and the food was nice and hot. My clam roll was overflowing with clams and they were tender and tasty. I also got a side of onion rings and it was huge, we ended up talking home at least half of them. They have a nice indoor dining room and also outside seating, we ate inside as it was starting to rain and there was plenty of room. Nice food, good prices, we'll be back for ice cream dessert someday. read more

The food was delicious I had a cheese burger and Oreo ice cream. The ice cream was pretty big so I recommend getting a kid size.

We would definitely come back. Prices are fair for the quality and if you're having a craving for lobster rolls but don't wanna break the bank, they know what they're doing up here. Service is fine. You order, sit down, and come pick it up when they call your number. A lot of outside seating as well but it's always packed every time we go. Back again only had to wait about 10 15 mins the food was absolutely fresh delicious and you can definitely share this. I would recommend sharing the seafood platter that comes with a big piece of haddock, french fries full belly, clams, scallops and five shrimp. I did eat a lot of it, and I took the rest back to my hotel the service is always hot a lot better than most places, the place that make sure tables are clean and it's always busy, but the portion sizes are excellent as well as you can see from some of the pictures of the fisherman's combo I paid $46 market price with a drink so that's not bad. Service here is always phenomenal and friendly. Their building is clean and their time is prompt. I emailed a question about catering and received a fast reply. The food was packaged with great care for my event and kept piping for the party. Tenders were moist and fries had a nice little crisp. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 4 pm for a late lunch/super early dinner. To my surprise, the parking lot was very full. I think a lot of people were there to get ice cream at that time. Ordered a plate of clam bellies from the counter outside. It took about thirty minutes for the order to be ready. Indoor dining was open, but there were probably like ten tables. No outdoor seating is available. I waited around in the super hot parking lot for the food to be ready. After grabbing my food, I drove down to massabesic lake (2 min away) to enjoy my food. I did notice that my food didn't feel piping hot when I got it. The meal came with my clam bellies fries, Cole slaw and tartar sauce. These were some of the largest clam bellies I've had so far!! Fries were crispy, the cole slaw was a strangely watery. Overall, good value for the price you pay. Maybe I just got a cold batch, but I did wish that my food was hotter when I got it. Worth a stop in Manchester if you have some time to wait for your food and if you're craving fried clam bellies. read more

Goldenrod is a Manchester staple. The service is always good, usually ran by teenagers or younger adults which is nice to see. The food is what you'd expect, onion rings were a tad bit greasy but still good. Ice cream is always good, various flavors. The ambiance can be loud since it's a smaller area. My husband is from Manchester, and my MIL still lives there. However, last night was my first time coming here. So this is a mixed review - my MIL and husband really liked the clams, but $29 for the clam platter was really absurd especially for a counter service type place. For that much money, I want to be waited on. I did steal some of his onion rings and they were good. My husband's friend and I both got grilled chix sandwiches and had the same response. They were awful. I couldn't even finish mine. It was rubbery and tasteless and the bun was super soggy. I'm going to guess it wasn't fresh - maybe heated up in the microwave?
